anime with main character similar to Edward Elric from FMA

Thanks to my favorite forum, I now have a lot of new anime to watch... but I want more! :D

And it just now occurred to me to ask not just about interesting plots and genres but also about characters.
I adore FMA anime (and manga), and I found Edward and his blend of toughness and emotion, panache and sincerity, hot and cold temper to be absolutely fascinating.
I'd like to "meet" other characters with similar traits. I'll watch pretty much any genre though I'm not much into 'slice of life' realistic adult drama type of anime.

Cou is basically an Ed clone and he even has the same sort of red jacket.

Renton from Eureka Seven is similar to Edward in a few ways, they both have a emotional journey.

Before Ed, there was Loran. At least they have the same voice actress, the great Romi Paku.

Loran is the main character of Turn A Gundam, he has one of the best characters and development of all Gundam series. He's extremely sincere in what he does, he doesn't back off, but is not an agressive person. Overall a very pleasant character who despite how soft he looks, has a really strong heart and determination.
