This was one of the first animes that got me hooked. I hope Infusion finishes this series. It's a classic.
Checked out animenfo's description of it and I think I'll give it a try. The file is small just the way I like it.
Edit: Thanks NoSanninWa :) (for combining the thread).. lol, you're too fast for me!
Anyway..Infusion is doing this one so it will probably end up pretty good (as I enjoyed most of their series in the past). I'll fully comment (probably my third time typing this), when it finishes downloading..

I think the correct title is Android Announcer MAICO 2010. It's about how a broadcasting company in the future tries to save the radio show industry with an android DJ. It's a pretty old yet funny and ecchi series from 1998 if I remember correctly. It HAS been subbed before, by a group I can't remember, but they only got up to episode 4.
Each episode runs for around 10 minutes and there's 26 (or was it 24, can't remember) episodes in total.
For those interested, the Manga has been licensed and the first volume is out already, although I can't remember which company did it :P
hmm.. I thought the first episode was kinda boring, but I cant really say anything until I see more episodes. I never expected it to be a 12min episode, Infusions video quality is good as always.
Yeah, the main character isn't fully into the story yet..so cant say too much about it ;). It is pretty funny though for the first episode, as usually shows have to get the character personalities introduced before they start adding humor..this kinda did the opposite. (The "elite public directions officer who raises the morale of the group with progressive planning skills" is my favorite character so far ;)).
I was entranced by the musical notes during the intro..I thought that was kinda neat..

I like it also, the into music is so caching this is one of the very few anime intros I actually watched instead of the usual skip ahead.

Actually, all the 4 volumes have been out for a while (atleast at the states).

Hmm..those musical notes are driving me nuts =/...
The tempo seems to be at exactly 114 in a standard 4/4 time signature.. yet the notes on the screen are way off compared to the voice (assuming the animated notes are supposed to be the voice since she is singing musical notes..)
For example: The first set of notes (So, La, So, La, So, La, So, La, Mi)
The first three notes (So,La,So) are correct(kinda)..it's an eighth rest on the downbeat followed by 3 eighth notes. Then the fourth animated note (La) is on the 3rd beat but is faster than the eighth note that is drawn. It sounds like it's a dotted (or delayed) sixteenth note followed by a sixteenth note (So). Then its the same pair, same rhythm (La, So), followed by an eighth note (La). Added up that's exactly 4 beats. Finally the (Mi) is on the downbeat of the next bar.
You can even tell by pausing it and counting..there are more animated notes than word.. (I listened closely to the other instruments and the string bass is sometimes kinda like the animated rhythm but is still different and still not as close as the voice).
That is just one example..the animated notes are correct on some lines but way off on others...
I really wouldn't rant so much but I would think that the animators would have direct access to the musical score so should be able to copy the score exactly.
Oh well..my rant for the day ;).
Wow, it's been forever since the last time I heard of this series.. I remember finding some artwork for it on a Japanese artist's site back in.. '97 or so. Can't wait to finally see it. :>
I'm assuming you're talking about the white musical notes... I wish those were more accurate too.
One thing I noticed was that they omitted all the ties, making it appear there are more notes than what's being sung. But still, the rhythm used by the singer and the rhythm that's showing on the screen don't match. x_x

After reading this thread i grabbed it.
It looks to be a keeper. I think I will like this alot.
Downloading it now, mainly because it has '2010' in the title and I've had good luck with stories with '2010' in the title somewhere. Anyways, couldn't help but notice comments that this was an old series, imeadiately followed by saying it was from 97 or 98. That's not really old at all. That's still relatively new guys.
I just watched episode one and it looks really good. ^_^ I'll keep watching it~ I had heard of the manga before and thought of picking it up but I never knew there was an anime. I'll probably check out the manga now too.
I'm very attracted to the plotline of this series and the character designs seem very cute. I'm definitely going to try this series. ^_~ Domo arigatou, Infusion!

As nice as that would be, I'd settle for getting the whole show digisubbed. Heck, I'd settle for someone encoding the VHS subs that you saw.

Anybody doing this now? I heard that Infusion sort of split so I'm wondering who's doing it now. I've been waiting for over 4 years to see past ep 4.

Really. They've been doing it that long. I don't think the translation could be so difficult. :)
The manga is absolutely great, and the anime seems nothing like it. Great emphasis on fan service in the manga.
Any news on new episodes?

Ummm... yeah. Lots of news on new episodes.
After Infusion split, several of the people who were involved with Maico (including the translator) became Froth-Bite. They decided to restart subbing the episodes from the beginning so that they could do an even better job. They just re-released episode 4 yesterday, so episode 5 will be out next. Woo-hoo!
See http://www.animesuki.com/series.php/290.html for more information on the releases.

I love the anime.
it's amazing how different the manga is from the anime though! The anime is really toned down and intended for all ages, while the manga is an all-out borderline ecchi fest, with fewer main characters (in fact as far as I can tell, there's only 3 characters from the anime that are in the manga).

I just finished watching the first episode and I think I like it. I already like a couple of the characters, and the OP and ED songs were quite nice. I also did like animes with pink haired anime girls in it.

at last... AAM2010 is back.
woot!
Just out of curiousity... it the anime going to follow the plot in the manga?
Cuz the whole notion of Maico being a <spoiler> could make things really interesting...

Gauds, I've only seen the first three episodes and I'm already laughing my butt off!! :)
Wasn't sure what I'd think of this one to begin with, but I love it!!! The most interesting part is the fact that it only fills a single 15 minute time slot. Kinda like Bottle Fairy. I so wish this would be a full half hour show. That'd be awesome. :D

I've only seen the first 8 eps (VHS, and now fansubbed, thank Kami-sama :)) but there's no mention of Maico being a sexbot at all. The anime is FAR less ecchi than the manga, so I'd be surprised if that ever came up. The relationships between the characters are completely different as well, they went in a pretty different direction with the anime. Having said that I love the anime version--can't wait until the rest of it comes out, it's been a loooong wait for episode 9, I think I got my VHS fansubs of this three years ago now :)

I remember reading the manga sometime ago already... while it looked nice, the story wasn't all that great...
Can anyone say in how far the anime differs from the manga? (except from being less ecchi - which already is a clear minus point :heh: )

Bleh I just finished watching all the way up to episode 6 and it's starting to get dull. I hope the later episodes takes place some where else because I'm getting very tired of just seeing the radio station.

I just finished up through episode 6 (that's all I have of it so far) and it's just freaking hilarious!! I love it! I just wish the episodes were longer than 15 minutes. The contest they had was great too. Of course the mute dude with the special effects controls is hilarious too. :)

Not lost at all. Froth-Bite started again from the beginning (had some issues with the Infusion people but none of that anymore, i hope), and we just released 5 and 6 for the general public for the first time ever. We plan to do the entire thing; we're making steady progress. It's finals week for a bunch of our staff so we've slowed down a bit, but you can look forward to more Maico goodness real soon!
Shameless plug: #Froth-Bite on Rizon!!! :heh:

For an anime that fills a little 15 minute time slot, it's not just funny, but the OP and ED are just top notch! I watch the OP and ED every single time I watch the anime, which I can't say for many anime. :)

I know! I find myself head bobbing along with Maico every time the ED comes on and I can't stop myself. It's hypnotic!

Yes it is!! And Maico is so Kuwaii!!
Oh man, ep 17 was just brutal. The way Densuke was piled on... Even the staff felt sorry for him in the end.
I don't know what to think. I hope his ex drops that creep, but I'm not to impressed with her for how she was lying.

Anyone else find the end of episode 20 to be so unexpected? It also seems like everyone is starting to get out their cold hard shells thanks to Maico's efforts and things are getting pretty interesting now.
Who would of thought Suga would just die like that.

There was a period of a few episodes (8-12, particularly 11) where I was considering quitting this show. Then episode 13 was subbed and I saw Kacchin's family struggling over the issue of whether they should have a kokeshi or flowes in their entry hall and my desire to quit this show fled. Several more good episodes and I was eagerly looking forward to it again. Now at episode 20 I can't wait to see what happens next and I am so glad that I stuck with Maico through the bad episodes.
On another topic, I have to ask. Has anyone else noticed that the opening song has slowly been developing lyrics? I don't always watch the OP so this escaped my notice, but this episode definetly had more lyrics than used to be there! It isn't all so la ti anymore.
Lord Raiden

NoSanninWa, actually, that changed back around episode 12 or so I think if memory serves me right. I enjoy the OP a lot so I noticed it right away. I just never said anything because I assumed that everyone else had seen it too and making a point of it would be announcing the obvious. ;)
What the hell is with Ume-san's voice? :twitch:
