I have to admit my heart stopped a bit when Kid all of a sudden got stabbed like that, but i knew the powerup was coming so i felt a bit better during commercials -___-

That was pretty exciting, and as predicted, Kidd got all of the Sanzu Lines connected and was able to wipe out the giant kishin with epic-er death cannons, but he didnt kill him cuz Kishin is just regular sized again. Argh.

But when Kidd was in the middle of powering up, Shinigami-sama's mask cracked again. Not a good sign for him :\

As for Maka and Soul, creepy soul turned out to be the demon guy in disguise and the real soul was inside the box, so Maka eventually opens it and goes in the box to save him (flying naked.. naturally) and theres a cute brief hugging moment between em. They end up getting out of the box fine and little demon turns ridiculously tiny... and Soul eats him. Yeah o_O

Once they get back.. B*S, Kidd and company are all half-dead (theyd better not be really dead..) and the episode ends with Maka and Soul face to face with the kishin, with Maka considerably pissed.

Preview for the next ep actually revealed a scythe powerup Maka will be getting which could be a little bit spoilerish, but then again they could be trying to throw us off guard. I'm hoping they dont go major shonen cliche with Maka pulling some amazing magical doohickie from her arse and saving the world, BONES better be a little more creative than that for the finale.

Pretty good episode, though one wonders how the hell are they gonna win this fight without resorting to some sort of last minute typical-shounen-anime-over-9000!-power-up.

Well, that kinda sucked. I guess just because we're at the end so we know there will be no more development.

The die is cast, the players are in place, but exactly what path will they walk down....as if we all didn't know.

Meh, I had this episode almost totally pegged. Overly convienient Shounen good guy power logic ran rampant, although it's been particularly rampant for a while so it's not that big a deal. Wasn't bad but not that interesting either, just not much else to do.

Hopefully the last episode will have some real kickass fighting, cause really the show ran out of anything else:p

Doesn't sound like anything out of the ordinary given the manner of previous episodes. Am surprised they actually used Kid's thing in the way they did; yes, it looks awesome, but unlike the manga - where it's clearly set up to be an issue in the future - it's being used as a last-ditch attempt to defeat the Big Bad.

Mangakachan - I think they've already done that several times over on one scale or another; Maka's 'proper' Demon Hunter, Black Star's revelatory...thing and now Kid's bit - and that we're probably going to see something more in the next episode.

It's just no fun when the probable outcome can be predicted by fans like this. *sigh*

At least the visuals were always sharp and the music had tons of style. Really that's all you could ask for.

Naturally the manga would be MUCH COOLER as an adaption, and it is slightly better written (emphasis on slightly).

But because of that, I can't really say that the show is that much worse than the comic. It's really just that the comics fights and what they set up are MUCH cooler

Plus the mangaka doesn't have a 51 chapter limit for his story.

If the anime has been feeling a bit rushed lately, that's because... well... it IS being rushed. It really makes you wonder why Bones does things in 51-episode chunks; FMA had the same issues as Soul Eater: we're down to the last episode and there are still too many loose ends to wrap things up effectively.

Oh well... lets hope that the Funimation dub does as well as FMA... maybe it'll persuade Bones to do another Soul Eater-related project down the line.

On topic though... I loved the way Soul got rid of his demon!

Mann you gotta feel sorry for Kidd

The one moment he was completely symmetrical, he had to be unconscious :\ poor guy.

You can't have everything in life. At least he can have Patty and Liz tell him all about it and he can fantasize about it. :heh:

Matter of opinion, naturally. For me the anime has spoilt quite a bit of what makes the original story entertaining for me, in character and plot.

@Carcenclaw - Not sure about the FMA comparison. FMA deliberately diverged early on and did draw their storylines together in my opinion, whereas Soul Eater didn't bother to set up the differences which are now left hanging one episode before the end. Why the kids are still alive in this situation, Arachne, Eibon, even the Sanzu Lines; they could have been established earlier and things would have hung together a whole lot better.

Soul and Maka... It was pretty good until they ripped off their own show with glowing-naked-girl-saving-partner-from-insanity. Since when did technicians go naked too? ....

Kid's Sanzu Lines were a visual treat but kinda pointless. Who cares, though? It was cool.

I didn't think Bones would have Maka alone saving the world, but I guess I was wrong. With team Kid and team B*S KOed, it's just Maka and Soul now? Wonder how they'll finish things off.

Happy that Spirit-kun's awake, though...

I love that Sig Halad.
For 51 all we need is Maka's mom to provide a Deus Ex ending.

Well I still enjoyed it but knowing this is because I was able to adjust to the series' tempo and had given up he wish of it being an adaption to the manga. It had changed to much to be called so and while along the way a lot of the events ended up being shallow for the sake of completing the series (the ultimate ending where the kishin is defeated), on the whole I still enjoyed this for being a sort of "alternate ending" to the Soul eater story. The only regrets I have is that it isn't any longer than 51 episodes as I think it could have gone for a bit more before a final closure.

Who knows, there might be a sequel to dive into most of the mysteries of the series but that is less than likely. Meanwhile though, at least we still have the mang running, right? :heh:

Kid was awesome in this ep with his lines connecting and then going into super cannon mode. Thankfully it seems like Shinigami won't die since the lines didn't stay connected :heh:

Black star was also cool but he didn't do much besides some fancy footwork.

And Soul...he ate the devil inside of him, alive :heh:

B*S *is* Naruto's not so evil twin, and he can prove it with his kage bunshin technique. :heh:

Kid is a walking, talking, symmetrical missile launcher. I wonder if those are the surface-to-air missiles or the surface-to-surface ones. :D I found it interesting that while he usually needs to sit down when using Death Cannon due to recoil from his guns, he obviously needs no such action to withstand the incredibly massive recoil in this mode. (Or maybe he just cannot move at all.) Godmode, heh. Like Soul would have said, it was cool. (On a more superficial note, they also drew him in such a lovely way when he fainted... he looked positively beautiful)

I also really liked the box idea. Though to my opinion it fell a little flat when Maka jumped in. It's just that it always has to happen this way... but the image of Soul-candle was great.

Now that I have watched this eps , the next episode preview seems more interesting than the episode itself. Are they surely losing or what?

But this eps still has its humor. I appreciate that :D

Sweet, got to see 49 and 50 in the same sitting. Seems like a cliche ending though. Let me guess, Demon God hunting wavelength? Though the end of the intro where Soul holds Maka...I wonder about that.

Have to admit it went a little over the stop when Black Star went all out on Asura, though it was flashy and enjoyable so i've got nothing against it. Same goes for Kid's final attack. Also, The Maka x Soul reunion at the end was adorable --- i'll give it a 9 just for that.

Do rather like how they handled the preview. Very much.

For the finale, I would like to see Maka's Demon Slayer fail or not kill Asura all the way BUT it breaks the barrier. With the barrier broken, everyone and their brother from Shibusen goes down to battle. Unfortunately they all get owned in the process until Maka's mother shows up (the deus ex machina as someone else pointed out), grabs Death Scythe, Maka and Soul revive, and they have a mother-daughter Demon Slayer slice fest to finally kill Asura.

I can dream can't I?

Not a bad episode, though rather rushed. The whole thing with the Lines was kind of cool though honestly it wasn't quite as awesome as it could have been potentially. The part with the cracked mask was a bit worrying though.

I'm glad Asura went back to his small size from the giant monster version. I love his design personally and I also liked his little talk at the end of the episode with him grinning like always.

Nice episode a bit flashy but nothing wrong with that. Blackstar showed why he is the tank of the team and of course Kid shows his artillery skillz. Maka is up next i guess she will do her mother proud from what the preview showed.

I really liked this episode. The fighting was of a quality not seen in recent episodes. Everyone got to show their stuff for a little bit. I just hope they show Maka's mom just once before the show ends.

I hope they don't. It'd be silly to bring her in at this point. And if she shows up in the aftermath ("Well done Maka" or something like that) you'd wonder why she didn't show up earlier.

Well , it was a good episode , and finally it'll be Maka who will beat Asura ?
Hmmm , i don't know because Asura is a badass and stronger than them so if they can beat him it'll be overabused but just one episode left so i think she'll beat him too .
I remind you that the anime don't follow the manga so me after the final episode i'll watch the manga . + it miss a lot of people too .

Finally Blackstar was using the assassination techniques that we all know he has, and it looked fantastic.

I agree with a previous poster that when Kid got stabbed while powering up I couldn't help but burst out laughing. I was thinking I'd be annoyed if Kishin just sat around and let him power up for that long, so I was pleasantly surprised that he didn't.

It definitely broke one of the "laws" of anime. I was EXCEPTIONALLY pleased at Asura stabbing Kid...it makes sense, doesn't it, to take out your opposition while they're in a vulnerable position, rather than wait for an attack that can potentially ruin you? It's more realistic, I think. Kid's power-up was exceptionally badass!
