Hey all,
I guess I'm looking for something similar in tone or theme to Marimite (close bonds at school). I've already seen Strawberry Panic, but is there anything else?
I also don't mind if it's shoujo-ai or shounen-ai or anything else in between.
Thanks!

I guess the main theme here would be school frienship, and character interactions. In that case, the best examples I can think of, while not entirely similar (since they are more theme oriented than character oriented, however many of the themes are similar) would be Hidamari Sketch and Sketchbook ~Full colors~.
Someday dreamers also strikes me as kind of similar. Kind of.
I want to say Lucky Star and School Rumble... the friends have close bonds (probably not to the extent of Marimite though) but they are comedy animes, and not serious as Marimite, so I'm not sure if this is also what you were looking for.
Haibane Renmei (http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=271)
Simoun (http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=4239)
Candy Boy (http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=5574)
Aria the Animation (http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=2659)/Natural/Origination
...might be of interest.
I also thought of those but since he/she said that he/she wanted the setting to be a school one... (wel then again Someday dreamers is already pushing it :p)

Well, I don't mind if it's even broader than the school setting if it's similar to how Marimite "feels". It's sort of vague, I guess, but it has that slow pace that's heavily relationship and character focus? I just thought that the school setting is probably the easiest setting for someone to produce that kind of material, but if there's other stuff out there that's good too.

school rumble is totally hilarious.. i remember watching on the first time... i really had a good laugh..
I wouldn't say that it is something similar to marimite though. Not in the slightest.
For something with an equally refined look... well it's much more drama charged, and it's a little old, but how about Oniisama he?
