I don't even know how you guys notice. Hey eyebrows don't even stand out unless you look too closely. And I thought her nickname is Mugi-chan?

Anyways, she's an interesting moeblob because for one she isn't Haruhi/Konata's plaything. She isn't constantly being grabbed from behind or have her breasts referenced to at least 3 times an episode. To me she's just a blonde Miyuki that I actually like. Miyuki's flaw wasn't necessarily screen time but rather the lack of something unique and noticeable (you know, except big boobs and glasses). Mugi-chan established herself an as equal among the group of 3 in the first episode, not letting the other two take over.

That is to say, I noticed that trait at the very first glance of the first trailer. Although I'm not fancying that much, it isn't anything THAT disruptive or whatnot.


As for my opinion about Tsumugi, I think she can't be labelized as a moe blob. So far, despite being overly generous and all (probably won't have no problem in having "MILF" aspect few years later), she is arguably not clueless or "acting" cute (in a sharp contrast to yui who is the moeblob overload to me :heh:).

She does have common sense and certainly react to few stuff (especially how Yui is fancying her sweets). To make things better, she is rather "normal" to me considering her goal in the club, but also her methods (baiting/calming Yui were not shown without afterthought :heh:).
Pretty much like Mio, she is rather normal with moe traits, and that is a change (as Miyuki was really overexaggerated with lack of depth and certain "too kind" aspect).

I found it interesting she seemed to have the greatest amount of concentration when it came to the part-time job...Wasn't really expecting that to be honest. I know she isn't nearly as scatter brained as Yui, but still kinda threw me off to see that she can focus on a certain thing to such a great degree.

I guess a contributing factor along with her "Oujo-ness" to having limited "normal" life experiences?

I'm liking how they are portraying Tsumugi as trying to "follow the lead" (Ritsu's lead so far) as to what is she supposed to do or how to react. I hope this is not limited to these first two episodes, since it's quite entertaining to watch.

Mio and Ritsu hit it on the head that the reason Mugi joined them is that they are rare animals.

Mugi must have a boring life as an Oujo. Also you have to wonder who those sweets brought to home are for. I can imagine some rich boy smuck or several trying woo her.

Her respite is the K-On club who now has new rare animal addition in Yui.

You'd notice that Mugi doesn't seem to have girl groupies before Ritsu and Mio.

You're right. I overreacted. I just don't get why something so insignificant is noticed by everyone and overshadows...everything else about her.

I think you're saying what I wanted to say. She definitely has moeblob qualities...at least her position and appearance makes her seem like so. But she doesn't even act like one and is quite normal, and that's what I notice about her. Even though Yui is the "blob of moe," I can't imagine calling the main character a moeblob...or can I?

I just find it funny that after Mugi says things like "I've never had fast food before," no one asks her why. I guess it's all for the sake of comedy, keeping her background unknown. So far they've done a good job of turning Mugi's unworldliness into humor without going the easy route (Pouring her fries into Ritsu's, haggling at a shop her family owns).

At first they bothered me; female characters usually don't have thicker eyebrows because it's not feminine, but Tsumugi pulls it off and looks darn cute at it too<3

Her character is interesting as well. She's never eaten fast food, is rich and doesn't seem to have experience in normal things, yet never really says anything about it and just does whatever she thinks is right. It's entertaining to watch her do something in the background.

Mugi definitely does work as a good Ojou-sama character. She's very balanced since she isn't too over-the-top moe. She isn't overly pure/polite or luxuriously rich, so that makes her very believable. Her appearing more on screen will never get tiring.

And I loved how they made her eyebrows serve a purpose. Nice job writers.

It's true, the eyebrows are the first thing I noticed about her. I can't say they ever fade away since they're always there. However it's clear she has more going for her than just eyebrow power. Which you've already mentioned. As for the scene in the wind, part of what makes it work is the hat that she's wearing.

Well, that's what I started to think about when I saw videos for Susan. It made me think about Tsumugi singing when the first announcements for K-ON! were being made.

I think many people (including me) believed Tsumugi was going to be the lead singer for this band. Because...keyboard isn't used too often compared to the other three instruments.

Depends on the band and the type of music.

I do suspect that Mugi's singing style is probably less suited for the faster paced songs (like the OP and ED) based on her voice type. A slow ballad on the other hand...

When I first started watching this the only character I was really interested in was Yui, she had the most depth:

The other characters were entertaining but I never really felt a connection with them, Mugi often seems like she's from another planet, her scene with Mio changed my oppinion right now the two strongest chracters are Mio and Mugi.

Suspect it's partly from lugging stuff around the family place. Remember she has music hardware roots, which is probably part of the reason we see a prominent "Yamaha" on one of the items she's seen carrying (which some folks think is her Dad based on the fact the chairman of Yamaha is known for his heavy eyebrows).

Well, as an ojou-sama, Tsumugi's parents can be expected to be a little over-protective over their daughter. Judging from the New Year strip (where she wore a kimono for a few days straight), her upbringing is somewhat traditional. Little things which we commoners take for granted may be rather fascinating for her.

Come to think about it, she's not that far off from Ouran's Tamaki.

Exactly... to Mugi, Yui, Ritsu and Miu are mere commoners... so to her, this is like a field trip, or a safari.

Remember how Tamaki was amazed by Haruhi's appartment... this is the same with Mugi. Probably the attitudes of the girls are also the first time she sees a girl who blushes from everything, or a teacher like Sawa-chan.

And yes, it is a modern cheongsam. Increases sex appeal by lengthening the cutting on the skirt to show the legs and creating a small opening between the collar and the chest area to expose cleavage. The fan is just there to create a sense a mystery behind the ladyesbian. Normal cheongsams don't have such "apparels", it is basically a tight fitting dress to accentuate a female's curves.

Well, I liked Mugi from the start because I'm a keyboardist like her and started at age 4 too and she was sweet to begin with.

When seeing anime Tsumugi scolding her butlers, most ppl would think think "Aww! How cute". But hearing manga Tsumugi scold her butler easily freaks the girls out.
It would be a big surprise seeing manga Tsumugi works part-time in WacDonald, but not so much at her anime version
