Got my swimsuit Mio today... haven't had a chance to open the box but it looks like decent work for the price range. Bonus I wasn't aware of - you can have her hair either loose and long or tied up with side bangs.

Hmm...I wanted to get that one at first, but I wasn't sure about the quality, though now I'm thinking of just buying it anyway...Do give us a review when you get to bust it out though...

And if you don't mind, take detailed pictures too...The atypical and bland stock photos that the manufacturers release to the media and mail-order websites just really, really don't give me any visual justice... :p

Yeah, they don't charge you or anything until they get the item in their hands. Then they'll send you a bill, PayPal or Gate2Shop, and let you choose your shipping method. I believe that's why they don't let you cancel preorders.

Bomé's PVC figures look slightly less better, but their prices are fair too. I just find 8000 yen for a fan favorite character in the most overrated fan favorite costume way overpriced, especially since she will probably have nothing extra.

3000 yen for a Figma? Shit, that is pretty fucking outrageous when you think about it and look at Revoltech's line. Most of the Yamaguchi and Hokuto no Ken line look really well done for action figures, not to mention anatomically accurate. When I see some Figma pictures, they just looks weird. They can barely stand straight without their crane arm and their limbs look weird.

The top 3 figure companies, Goodsmile, Max Factory and Alter have their normal price range going from 6k - 10k. Their high quality figures go from 10k all the way to 18k. They don't make 'hentai' figures, though some of them comes with cast off.

EDIT: Oh wait, that link wasn't the limited ed version, no wonder it only costs 8k yen. The limited ed version costs 9450 yen.

Mega House is one of the few who delivers both quality and a nice price. Bomé's PVC figures look slightly less better, but their prices are fair too. I just find 8000 yen for a fan favorite character in the most overrated fan favorite costume way overpriced, especially since she will probably have nothing extra.

3000 yen for a Figma? Shit, that is pretty fucking outrageous when you think about it and look at Revoltech's line. Most of the Yamaguchi and Hokuto no Ken line look really well done for action figures, not to mention anatomically accurate. When I see some Figma pictures, they just looks weird. They can barely stand straight without their crane arm and their limbs look weird.

Well yeah I think such prices are outrageous but that doesn't take away the fact that the figma line can cost that much (it's actually 2,500 yen average). Getting one for that price isn't such a bad deal if you ask most collectors. I like some of revoltechs releases but not all so even with a standard pricing I would argue how some are "overrated" and "overpriced".

It all comes down to taste and personal standards when we think of how much a product should be valued. My main argument is that this product is being sold within the basic price range for these stuff. There may be cheaper alternatives but a fair number of similar scale figures are sold for 8000 and above as well. For a better feel of whether this Mio is overpriced, just search around on how much the other Mio 1/8s are going to be sold.

Calling her overrated is a moot point considering how figures are essentially made for collectors - who would normally collect characters that they rate very high...

Unboxed the Movic/Kotobukiya Mio Original Costume last night.... getting her guitar onto her caused a bit of cringing as you have to partially disassemble her and there's about a millimeter of tolerance for the guitar's positioning (that doesn't overstress the strap connect points). I was able to get her thumb at the appropriate spot on the pickup though.

Once done though, she looks quite nice. Sexy and dynamic pose. The guitar actually has amazingly tiny individual strings on it - wasn't expecting that. The miniskirt is translucent and the thigh stockings look very realistic. Face looks better than the web pics implied.

As for the second batch, I'm surprised they managed to pull off a "Moe, Moe, KYUN" at that scale. Wins for variations in the expressions. Azunyan doesn't have a normal face in any of these :V

Yeah, it's pretty annoying the first time around, especially the butt rest type stand. Make sure that you make it so that Yui has the plastic piece between her legs, otherwise she's gonna fall. Her stand itself is pretty annoying anyway, since she can't even stand up straight in it unless you put the buttrest on the rod at a weird angle. It annoys the heck out of me that Yui can barely stand right, while Mio's stand helps Mio stand up perfectly, even though Mio has a lot more weight on the back of her head than Yui. :(
