The last time I spent so much on my otaku hobby is when TMHS was aired. But I don't think I can part with these scorebooks like I did with my figurines. :eyespin:

Bought a K-ON Azusa VOX AmPlug on eBay and the guy was nice enough to include packaging that contained a Japanese magazine, Azusa trading card, green tea latte, and a note telling me that he could supply me with anything I would want in Japan for a better price. That's how eBay's done!:heh:

Anyways, here's an opportunity to show off the AmPlug along with the Azusa card and my new Fender Stratocaster American Standard! BWAHA. Sorry about the fuzzy shots, but all I had on hand was my iPhone 3GS, and you know how good that is. *chortles*

^ If he hadn't included 2 "hand-written" notes with the package (by which I mean - had they been photocopies), then I'd think he just includes it to hold his positive feedback. Seems like he really does care about buyers though.

It's like when my mother used to work at Hospice and at one point for a government-run business. The government sent her a thank you letter that seemed to be mass produced with just the addressee changed, while Hospice hand-wrote every letter that went out to the workers.

On topic though, the K-ON VOX AmPlug actually sounds a little cleaner to me than my original VOX Classic Rock AmPlug; looks like they actually made modifications rather than slap a sticker on it and charge $40 more for it. This tiny thing rivals my $350 practice amp in quality, so I'm returning the old bugger to get some expendable income yet again.:heh:

All right, I got my Alter Ritsu figurine faster than expected. It cost me an arm and a leg in taxes and it took me a while to assemble the drumkit correctly, but at least now I have the whole band complete, so I'm happy. :)

As with Mugi, I wish they made it possible to actually secure Ritsu and her drumkit to her baseplate. It's all too easy to knock the parts off, especially considering the fact that I barely have enough room on my shelf to put all 5 band members on and that my room is not much bigger than your average prison cell.

And until Ui is released, I'll probably hold off from buying anymore figurines, unless I find a job that pays more.

Like you said, they will probably both have the same cover, so why did you have to go out differentiate the two? Yes they aren't the same thing but the covers are and that was the pointof his post. And yes let's drop this.

As a long time fan of Asakawa myself, I can understand one might be excited. I've got most of her albums from her musical career. But.... really its quite nice to have a group of seiyuu that can do a competent job of singing live (and whoa I've seen some awful live performances) and good gods they are actually passable playing their character's instruments.

Wow, a long time fan. I've only started to like her since 2001 ;3. And yes, I agree with you. What I meant was that I am more excited of the first concert than the second one.

Maybe its personal, since I don't really like 2nd batch of the character albums, so...yeah, not looking forward to it. Either way though, I'd still be watching it just for the sake of listening to the seiyuu singing live ;).

The Merchant that I get my things from Japan is the coolest dude ever! He is a good friend, and he goes out of his way to find something that is sold-out or rare. Muttan's a near impossibility for me because they never released an official Mustang in a left-handed model. Custom creation would cost thousands.

Oh wow, that's fantastic. It seems to be somewhat unfinished and of the vibrato series, but those sounded just as magnificent anyways. It's also got a chrome shine-top glossy finish as opposed to the painted wood gloss finish that most Mustangs have, but I actually like how it shines.:heh:

That's correct. Everything from the strings to the body, pickups and tuning knobs affect the overall sound. Instrument stores have to be a certain temperature and regulate tuning/cleaning of their products, as an incorrect temperature will affect the wood differently.

They edit most of the dead air and long onstage dialogue between songs. It's not at all uncommon for "live" albums to have several overdubs for vocals and instruments. A friend of mine that works as a studio engineer told me that the most successful live album of all time "Frampton Comes Alive" is more studio than live. They re-recorded most of the parts. Modern albums can benefit from pitch correction software and digital editing, but remember that it is rare to do a live album of just one night. Most live albums are culminated from several nights of a tour. This way they can choose the best performance of each song, but in this case its just one night. Honestly I it like unaltered. (in terms of playing, singing in live concerts) It makes it unique from the studio album with different variations of the song or some improvs. It's sort of a treat hearing it as is, despite the misplayed notes, vocally or instrumentality.

Yeah that's the word. More studio-like or pure live. I wonder which one will be applied to this K-ON! live albums. I also personally love it if they're pure live recording (only sound quality edits). But somehow I do find their problems in singing could diminish the listening experience :heh: (since we're only listening, not watching).

I've listened to several live albums as well, but they had no performance errors :heh: hence why I ask :D

The PS Home item is the K-On! movie poster, an exclusive gift for anyone who buys any one of the custom themes (if you buy them before Jan 11 2012).
15 different PS3 avatars for 100 yen each. Also sold in character-themed bundles of three avatars for 250 yen, and includes a bonus animal costume avatar (e.g. buy Yui's avatar pack, receive the chicken costume avatar).

Considering I've been able to bargain quite nicely here in Beijing for my merchandise so far, I was innerly destroyed when the store assistant in that shopping centre told me that the Yui Xmas mizugi figure costs 580 RMB which is exactly the original price (60~70€ and even more in US$). Most of the PVC figures in the same shopping centre are like 200 RMB or so (from which you actually start bargaining, not 580). I'm in a pinch! To make up for my worthless visit, I bought an Akiyama Mio Don't Say Lazy ver. figure for 100 RMB (180 was demanded, original price would be around 600 RMB or more). It was the only one left and I thought it might be kind of rare so I took the chance.

Mandrake... most likely 2nd hand goods, then. But stuffs at Mandrake are pretty much like a new one, so no problem :D

I double-checked it. I smelled it, touched it, looked at it. I had found nothing wrong with it. And yeah, I have seen other things that are also supposed to be sold in Japan only. Questionable, I know. But I have already enough problems calculating my budget as for what I should spend and save money for that I ignore the rest. :p

As for fake merchandise, I am confident enough to to say that I don't have a hard time telling if it's real or not. Wrong colour, size, position, etc. I've seen all those happen already. Luckily not often.

if I remember correctly there's one at images thread. Unfortunately the size is too small to be printed for a postersize... And there's a watermark too.

Yeh I saw that. It's the one on the website too. I'm trying to find high res of that image too. Ritsu looks too good to be kept in such a low res file.

My Samsung Wi-Fi Blu-ray Player (BD-D5700) is not region free, It supports Region A for Blu-Ray, and Region 1 for DVD. :( wait a second, Japan and U.S are both region A! what a relief, now the problem is the cost of those blu-rays in Japan.. I'm surprised K-ON! is one of their final releases before closing. At least go out with a Blu-ray.. Man I really wanted too see K-ON! in English Blu-ray..

yep Bandai U.S. company, but I really don't want to get the standard DVD since I have a Blu-ray player. Its sad really.. Bandai U.S. (licensed company for Haruhi Suzumiya, Lucky Star) that did a good job dubbing it, is closing (possibility of pirating, should have adapted like Crunchy Roll/Funimation) looks like no U.S. release of K-ON!! unless Funimation does it:(

Well, they did release English sub/dub Blu-Ray of the first season, you'll just have to get the four individual releases instead of a complete season set... That's still much cheaper than importing the Japanese ones.

Well I can't really comment on the translation quality, but the dialogue of the official subs was pretty good IMO. There were some occasional oddities, but overall nothing to really complain about.

I know the manga translation annoyed some people with changing "Light Music Club" to "Pop Music Club" and "Azu-nyan" to "Azu-meow", but this isn't the case with the anime subs. The subs use "Light Music Club" and "Azu-nyan".

The live stage version is very intriguing indeed. But I only want one~ which is impossible since they sold them as 2 pairs. That makes it kinda lacking if we only have 1 pair :heh: and then even when we have the complete set, it still feels lacking because Azusa isn't included.

You can get the sets separately from eBay, although the prices will obviously be more expensive than if you got both sets at once. I know how you feel, though - for me the Mio/Ritsu set is infinitely more appealing than the Yui/Mugi set, although Mugi has a really nice face there.

Yeah, fuwa-fuwa time concert. Azusa wasn't there. But she actually has an official costume if she were joining that concert. It's red colored. As far as I know it's only seen on Houkago Live! PSP game :D

I've finished watching all the episodes in the first season now, and I am eagerly awaiting the release of the second season. Needless to say, I liked it.

But, I have been looking at the Wikipedia-page of K-On!, and I can see that there have been released a series of three minute shorts entitled 'Ura-On!' which supposedly were included on the DVD and Blu-ray Disc volumes. I think there are 7 shorts for the first season, and 9 for the second (plus a special episode featuring all their performances). The problem is, I can't find any of these episodes on my blu-rays. Am I blind, or are perhaps the shorts only included in the Japanese version? I would really like to get a hold of all the available K-On! episodes, both regular and special episodes alike, so it would be awesome if anyone could answer this (I haven't found any information on this at any other place).

That is correct, the Ura-on! shorts are only included in the Japanese Blu-Rays (not the DVDs). The compilation episode featuring the live performances from season 1 is not available anywhere, but you're not really missing anything as it didn't contain any original material.

For the ladies out there, there are now official swimsuits based on Yui's (http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/goods/goods_detail.html?KEY=NEOGDS-70489), Mio's (http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=NEOGDS-70492) and Azusa's (http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=NEOGDS-70486) outfits for pre-order over at CDJapan. You can only get 'em on pre-order, and they close at the end of the month. They are made by COSPA, who make a lot of anime-related clothing merchandise.
They are, however, extremely expensive: Mio's is 13000yen, Azusa's is 15000yen, and Yui's clocks at 17000yen.

TBS are, after all, one of the major sponsors of the K-On! anime adaptation, so it is official (and I believe that particular shirt itself is exclusive to their online store). If ya need help buying from there, please feel free to ask. :)

Certainly! The one I use the most is Noppin (http://www.noppin.com/) (formerly known as Crescent Shop), though I do know that CDJapan also offers a special request shopping service (http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/request/shopping.html).
Note that most of these kinds of services take a commission fee.

It's a tiny bit trickier to use Noppin, so here's a brief guide:

Create an account, then head over to "My Noppin",
(NB: Noppin have a feature called a pre-shopping list that streamlines the whole buying process, but I'll talk from the Contact Board perspective, as that's what I'm used to using.)
On the left side, click on the "Shopping" Contact Board.
You should now see a page that allows you to send a message to the staff about what you want to buy. You only need to fill out the Subject and Message fields. Be sure to include a URL to the item(s) you are trying to buy (be nice to them as well). Note that it is a flat commission fee, so the more you buy in one go, the more you'll save in the long run (should you choose to use it more often), though only if you're buying from the same store.
It might take one business day, but you should then get a quote (money-wise) via email.
Head to the main "My Noppin" page, where you should see "INV<number>" show up under Order Summary and Shopping Service. See here on payment methods. (http://noppin.com/portal_pages/payment)
Once the item(s) have been paid for, they'll order the items (and will notify you of this via the Contact Board and email).
The items should arrive at Noppin's warehouse after a few days, after which you can send a "Packing Request", which you'll find under "Storage Space" on the main page. Like the shopping request, you can save a bit of money by buying more stuff and then shipping them in one go.
Once the packing is complete, you'll be asked to pay for the shipping (shows up as SH<number>), which you'll find under "Shipping Status". Go to this page to pay for the shipping.
Once you've paid for the shipping, you should receive an email when your package has been shipped. By default, Noppin ship via EMS, so you'll also receive a tracking number you can use.
Done! Now all you have to do is wait.
