I actually think that she is a good addition to the band, since she made Yui behave more like a normal elder sister (other than that "good girl" cuddle which remind me of a certain yuri-ful scene.).

Interestingly, her skinny twin tails remind me of the following girls :

1. Nagi Sanzenin (Hayate No Gotoku)

2. Mana Mizuki (White Album)

3. Mei Sunohara (Clannad)

And strangely, her character throughout the episode seems to be an amalgamation of the abovementioned girls. PLUS, she looks totally loli!

I didn't realise it when I first watched the ep, but KyoAni changed Azu-nyan's personality to get a "dramatic" effect.

In the anime, she sobbed. In the manga, she was merely curious as to what made the band clicked.

I understand that the crew have to fill in time for the anime, but couldn't they fill it without sacrificing the funny? Mio's flanderization nearly went out of hand the last time.

I have to say, Asuza is one of... if not my favorite band member right now. I was a little skeptical that her anime personality differs from her manga personality, but that's all gone now thanks to the most recent episode. Asuza and Mio double team will save this band yet.

Oh, and she actually wants to play music. That's always a good point.

It's a bit like the whole Kannagi situation, I couldn't warm up to Nagi, where all the other characters I was fine with.
But this time, it's more understandable cause I've been giving time to warm up to the other characters... but... Azusa is just getting on my nerves :'(

I wouldn't hold your breath, whoever gets involved with the club will have their enthusiasm to play fizzle out. But it's not like the group can't be serious providing the right motivation.

I'll just say that in the manga, she didn't cry, at all. And after her entry, it felt as if she had always been with the initial 4 girls the whole time, and not as a newcomer.

But it would be trouble on the mangaka too. We already got a tomboy, a dress-up doll, a lesbian, an airhead and a loli, practically every stereotype available in the anime genre. We also have Ui who is a possible siscon yandere, and Nadoka who is the level-headed megane of the lot.

What else could we add in? ;)

This is totally random, but I was rewatching Minami-ke's beach episode, and while I never defended that Kana Minami looks like Azusa, it's kind of uncanny how they look so similar when tanned. I just thought it was interesting.

Some interesting comments on this lass.... I really just viewed her as a mini-Mio in terms of temperament but without the phobias. She's probably more "realistic" in terms of a studious right-thinking stay-in-the-groove girl than any of the 4 original members. Just as Mio is the underlying "stay on track" driver, Azusa will take that role as Mio eventually graduates.

I realize there's a commercial element in manga design... but I really find it difficult to imagine the mangaka does a "personality matrix layout", "archetype selection" or anything so scientific in creating a storyline. As the mangaka runs out of ideas, one might expect a new character to appear (e.g. American transfer student ala Patty Martin (L*S) or Kate (Sketchbook)))

As for Kana Minami...she was out in the sun having fun the longest of the sisters...they spent a bunch of that time trying to get Haruka to take her shirt off...much to the pleasure of those watching. (Haruka IS Amazing).
