Most anime voice actors would kill to get roles in the long-running shounen anime like this, naruto, one piece, etc...
Those are the best gigs there are. Decent money and a consistent paycheck for years, sometimes. Most anime is 13-26 episodes, and then that's it. Shows like these with the potential to go on for a long time you get the best talent knocking on your doors.

All of it pretty funny stuff, although much to my amazement I find myself enjoying Happy most of all so far. I'd have bet dimes to donuts that would never happen when the anime started.

hmmm... but if the animation for a 'super long' series starts out this mediocre, what legs does it have? Naruto and bleach both started out with great animation for the time (loved bleach before soul society). Even now they occasionally have a decently animated eps. If this can't even get the 'canon' part animated right...

I loved Happy being all happy about Cancer, while that joke was amusing in the manga, is 10x better in its animated form:heh:

There are 2 ways to look at it. One is the budget for this show is low, combine with the popularity of the source materials, they don't have a luxury to go with high quality beginning and let it be sucky later. Second is they are saving the budget for later, after all the "introducing arcs", because they are kinda weak in their own, and things are only getting better after that.
I'll be optimism and hope for the latter.
But even the opening has budget animation (see: all the looping segments after the "Oh yeah! Oh yeah!" part). It's an embarrassment.

Not a bad episode overall (episode 4), even though everything happened very fast. Sound was top notch, at least and Erza looks spot on to me.
They part episode that has not in manga was nice.
The anime haven’t decrease violence too much as Rave Master Zekua cut his arm with knife. Rave in anime Shuda just break his arm with explosive dark bring (actually he cut with sword).
Why Erza wear the 2nd design of Heart Kreuz armor? Where is the old? Is it because they like the new better?

Hiro Mashima sword, weapons, and outfits design was good I think they should not need change it too.

I assume that they added it exactly because it's long, so it's perfect to fill those long 24 minutes...when the anime enters the big arcs, they won't have a chance to use it since the battles are fast. I'll also agree with Duo on the budget part, they're probably saving the good parts for later (as is the case with shippuuden, where some episodes are very poor and others are great, animation-wise).
What I enjoyed most in the episode was the gag in the filler scenes, it's good to see that it's resourceful and not just a repetition of previous jokes.
Which is slightly odd since they're still hiding his magic for whatever reason.

Yeah I'll be optimistic and hope for the latter as well... and yeah the introduction arcs are pretty weak, thank god they flew threw the manga to get to Erza ASAP.

It's mentioned during the actual arc, though this time we have filler material before hand, and it's just preparing us for the next arc. Not a bad idea really.

totally agreed. I have been blown away by the soundtrack. Not the OP and ED so much as the amazingly good background music.

Nothing like good old Takanashi pairing up with REMI like he did in the Dear Kaby scene, eh? Well, still not sure it was really REMI, but she works with him 99% of the time, so chances are pretty high.
And yeah, you guys better all go check on Yasuharu's music because all of his scores are pretty awesome. Terra is a good one, but I'm simply blown away by his Mononoke score every time I listen to it.
As for the show itself, I'm liking it. Honestly, I'm not expecting a masterpiece out of it, just something that's entertaining, fast paced, and with nice musics, since Yasuharu is on it. The score delivers as expected, and I do find some moments pretty funny, but I just wish we'd get a nice battle instead of those stock footage things getting used over and over again.
PS: For people who know Falcom series such as Ys, the man who scores this show actually was part of the original Falcom JDK Band. If memory serves me well, he even appears on the 'To Make the End of Battle' music video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bTZf-H4Rl3A) playing his instrument, which, I think, was the keyboard at the time. Kinda funny, too, since I always thought of him as more of a guitar person, having heard to most of his stuff nowadays! :V

just watched ep 3 and 4 and loved it!
lucy in her maid outfit was lovely <3
and of course the comments about her being ugly from the pervert were just hilarious. and her being depressed about it and crying afterwards. way to hurt a girl's ego. xD
happy was funny as hell in both eps. enjoying the water in the sewers and of course, the -ebi joke.
kinda liked the filler part too, the humor fit pretty nicely. especially the chicken saying "meat!" :heh:
one thing i like in fairy tail are the faces they make (both in manga and anime). especially lucy's variety of faces sometimes is just funny as hell. ^^
oh and next ep is gonna be great. eru-chan~ finally making her appearance. <3
p.s.: forgot to mention that im a little annoyed about siegleins hair colour. just like most people i always thought it was red...but, oh well im going to get used to it hopefully.

Episode 5 was a great conclusion, this episode seemed like two in one, with that fight in the last half, Erza looks pretty cool, they're explanation of her was pretty hilarious

Generic as fuck and I have better things to do. Still have a few series in my "Have not watched yet" folders.
Aye! Keeping in mind how much material this episode covered, that was nicely done. The Erza introduction didn't feel rushed, and we're already right in the middle of the Lullaby arc. There wasn't as many laughs in this episode as there has been in past episodes, though it did a good job adapting the material, so i'm glad.
Of course, the funniest scene was Natsu and Gray acting like they're friends for the first time in Fairy Tail. I laughed so much at Natsu acting as Happy, together with Lucy's dialogue at the time. :heh:
As expected, Ohara Sayaka is perfect for Erza. She's the type of character Ohara would usually voice, so there was doubt about this one.

This was a pretty good episode. Plus liked how the magic outside Natsu was handled. Didn't go to a cutscene just to have Gray make a small ice sculpture :).
Erza is a fun character. Completely makes the guild terrified and can even get Gray and Natsu acting like buddies :heh:.

Eh the shows still far too exposition heavy. I didn't mind the train scene but did they really need to explain the light pen? If she had just written the words straight into the air it would have been obvious what it was supposed to do.
Well it seems that the Can-Can and Tango(?) might be regular background music. It still fits so though I think. I wonder if there going to use that tango music whenever something guildish happens.
Anyway Erza seems to fit nicely into the missing niche of comedy archetypes being a character who does funny things with a straight face as opposed to Lucy who acts as a straight man too straight for this world, Natsu and Happy who just do funny things and Grey who'd be normal if he wasn't always half naked.
Also the OP and ED have pretty good lyrics I think. Good job on finally getting rights and stuff.
The narrator does annoy me a bit. Especially annoying when he announced the name of some random train station even though it was clearly labeled on the screen.

Well imagine that Fairy Tail was an unruly class and Erza was the class president.. who's way stronger than everyone else, beats people up when needed and has no tolerance for idiots. The episode was good, this time they didn't skip Erza's rant as they had with Makarov's in ep2, and we got a good chunk of story to build on...
Yeah, I've hated that narrator's voice since his first lines in ep 1. It got really bad in ep 2 when he kept butting in to introduce Elfman et al. instead of letting their actions speak for themselves.

All the little magic items like the pen, and Lucy's fast reading glasses from a few episodes back where explained in the manga, though with a little dialogue box. I guess the adaptation just wants to stick with that, though use a narrator.

I like to think of the narrator as being used the same way the narrator was in the movie "the Princess Bride"... Except not as skillfully.

That's a sign of good things to come if you ask me. It means that the serious facial expressions from the manga have a stronger chance of taking over once the more serious arcs start to appear.

First time I ever saw an opening remake in just 5 episodes. Will they replace it even in the first episodes? Does that prove how sloppy they began making this series?
I'd say it's just messing around with the art because of the various complaints about it, which is a good thing, if you ask me. Then again, I totally skipped the OP so I missed all that, gonna notice it next week.

Wow, the OP tweaks were more extensive than I realized. Maybe because the cheap looping parts are still cheap looping parts after touchups :\ Ah well, it is an improvement.

I've got a personal theory that the scenes like the cutscenes for Natsu's attack were something that they made, then someone told the staff that something like that would not work well for Fairy Tail. However since it was already done they didn't want the money to go to waste so they're using it as much as is reasonable.

Hopefully the action in episode 6 is well animated, Erza's style is much more better suited to better animated fights than most others in the series. Better not be stills and panning :\

Finally Erza makes her appearance and she did not disappoint. Her tough love routine with Natsu on the train was so damn funny. Yea she comforted him alright by knocking his ass out but on a brighter note he got to sleep on her lap. One must wonder how much abuse a person could take from her lol.
Her magic level must be high to run that carriage at full speed i think normal mage would be drained after a while. Im looking forward to Erza keeping her promise to fight Natsu at the end of their mission or at least more decent fighting. Either way it works for me i get to either see Erza whoop dat ass or we get to watch Natsu go GAr.

Episode 5 was great, Erza is a pretty cool character, can't wait to see what her magic style is like. Though I wonder why Natsu is complaining about jobs when the board seemed to be full of them. I'm glad I'm not the only one to be reminded of Shikimaru. I'm beginning to wonder if maybe the reason the art isn't exactly like the manga, because they knew it would be compared to one piece more

Wow, the art seemed to make a major improvement this week's episode, with the preview looking to be along the same lines.
I'm finding myself enjoying this show more and more each week :D
However, I am really getting tired of the happy ending being bled into from serious scenes ^_^;; Not that the song is particularly bad, per say (though to be honest, idol pop is not my favorite genre), just that its not very appropriate most of the time.
Keep it up! I'm happy to have another good shonen to look forward to each week ^_^
Now that's what i want from a Fairy Tail adaptation! Aye! That was easily the best episode so far. The increase in animation and art truly made this a lot more enjoyable to watch, and going by the preview for episode 07, it seems the carry on. It could be that they'll just use this awesome animation for the more serious fighting episodes, though i'd love if it was like this from now on.
Also an upgrade with Lucy's chest. About time!
Also the music was something else in this episode, especially the two themes used for Erza's fight scene, and then the changing of armor. Truly epic material, which matches the scenes perfectly.
Oh and this wouldn't be a Shiroth post without mentioning Happy. So many funny scenes this week, like Happy trying to remembering something to tell Lucy, and the three way travel which includes Lucy. :heh:

Sorry couldn't help myself, Its' just that Happy and his Aye! is awesome. Ofcorse Shiroth's post's doesn't help ether. :rolleyes:
So anyway at last watched episodes properly and I got to say that Fairy Tail definitely is what I expected it to be like nice plate of colors for the backgrounds and the characters. OST is awesome and it definitely gets you this magic filing when you watch It.
At first I had may doubt about Tetsuya Kakihara voicing Natsu, but as of episode 5 I already got used to It. The rest of the man cast is spot on for me, Siegrain and Loky's voices will take some time to get use to, but that's for the later.
O... and I guess I am in the majority here, but I really like Opening song and the animation which goes with it. The Ending is alright too, but maybe it is a bit to fluffy for my taste. :heh:
Onwards for the episode 6 which biased of some reviews is something to look forward to.

While I enjoyed the episode a great deal (Erza fan), I still feel that the "it's magic time!" moments are awkward to say the least.
The still shots are also something that is a bit over-done as well, while it was awesome seeing Erza kick ass, it would have been so much sweeter in-motion.
I did like that Lucy at least got to strut her stuff a bit more and the animation/art-work is improving, the preview of the next episode is actually a noticeable improvement.
Also, does anyone know which sub-group has the best "quality subs?" When I can notice the typo's and mistranslations in the ones I have, that is pretty bad.

Was a good episode though I think they really need to change the ED sooner than later. Just no good for an episode to end with that chipper song :heh:.
Still Erza really got to kick ass even though she was pretty drained before it even got started. Of course considering the situation it was more important to get there before it was over than to worry about being tired.
Plus it's amazing, but Natsu used magic without a big cutscene behind it :heh:! Everyone got a bit of attention though it was mostly about Erza's big scene in owning all those guild members. You don't mess with her if you want to live that's for sure. Good on Lucy as well in her attempt to make a good impression :D.

Cool episode, big boost in quality. Happy and Erza made if for me, lol. Lucy wasn't half bad either with her "We're so cute... you wouldn't dare", Cancer was funny too-ebi. I did like Gray's scene was pretty cool, next week for Natsu should be looking good too.
Just me or does Erza's sword look like the Master Sword from Zelda. That Circle Sword attack was pretty cool (the way she said it though strongly reminded me of someone else who sounds just the same), the follow up attack was fairly awesome too. So... GAR.

I still can't really feel any of these fights are remotely interesting, but at least Erza puts up a good show while transforming herself and stuff.
The best thing about this episode was the battle track that played when Erza started to face the guild by herself. Awesome REMI, awesome Yasuharu, and great guitar riffs as expected from him. On the other hand, the sound director dude should know better than cutting this awesome piece of music to throw in the same old jingle for Lucy's summon. It was a terrible decision and really killed the mood for me there.

Just me or does Erza's sword look like the Master Sword from Zelda.
It looks a bit like it... but only a bit. The handguard of Erza's sword points sideways instead of up, the broadening at the base is pointed instead of flat, while the back of the hilt lacks the pointed end. Also, Erza's sword has a diamond shape (meaning that it's 'edge' doesn't really stop) while the master sword ends fairly quickly, leaving most of the blade flat.
... No I'm not an armor and weapon nut, thereby explaining why Erza is my favorite character. Whatever gave you that idea? <_<;

Fairytale's guild masters face was priceless when he heard that the 3 most powerful and somewhat troublesome members of Fairytale had teamed up. His immediate thoughts were they could destroy a town LMAO and hes right. They would end up freezing it then setting it on fire then finally just blowing the living shit out of it.
Erza transformation with the new boost in Animation quality got an A+ from me and her armour was badass i had no idea she had a couple of hundred different forms. With this episode she earned a special place in my heart. I have a soft spot for characters who equip lots of different weapons similar to infinite blade works.
I think this dark guild made a big mistake i really dont think they know who they are messing with i mean in the first episode they basically destroyed an entire dock of a city. They seem pretty damn serious this time i expecting lots of collateral damage:heh:.
Music got a bump too i was drawn into the episode a lot more with it and last but not least by any means.
HAPPY IS DA SHIT enough said.

Ezra's fight was less impressive for me because of all the stills in it. Couldn't see many connected frames of her doing any actual slashing or chopping. It's always just the beginning then zapped to the end..... As for the armour, uh, not sure about the transformation. It looked too much like a magic girl transformation that I almost laughed.
Love the Grey and Natsu moment when they talked the same thing at the same time, lol!

I just watched the first 6 episodes and I really liked them. It's a really funny anime and I love the way the Ice Mage keeps taking his shirt off and the reaction of others.

As for Erza's ability, you pretty much see what she is all about in general. Just remember, like it said she summoned magical weapons and armor, so expect them to have special properties.
She is also extremely proficient with weapons, so its not only because of the magic :o
I would say the defining characteristic that links Natsu's magic with Erza's(and to a lesser extent Gray's) is that the base combat abilities of their said magic derive from physical ability. That isnt the case amongst most wizards, and you will see many completely overwhelmed.

The 'even' was a jab at Nartuto's tendency for not allowing any good named character to die. Chouji, Neji and Gaara all really should have died (hell, Chouji even had a super dramatic yet awesome deathscene), but got the 'lol!heal' treatment. Recent chapters sparked a bit of hope, but managed to crush them later on. Lolrez sucks.

Way to go, my Happy! Aye! Yet another fantastic episode. The increase in animation quality is still there, and it makes this adaptation all the more enjoyable to watch.
It's a shame they couldn't fit the whole fight in this episode, though ending it where they did, just like the chapter did was the best idea. The anime original scene was a bit strange though. It's the flashback that Natsu has as he's falling off the bridge. It did work i guess, and a nice piece of music was used for it.
The whole scene after Kage was taken down, upto the escape from the station had me laughing so so much, and yes it's mainly thanks to the one and only Happy. Yet again having a voice makes me laugh at his character all the more, especially with that fantastic reaction at remembering what he wanted to tell Lucy. Also there's the jokes focused around adorable Virgo, and her new appearance. The jokes just kept bouncing off one another, and ended with Virgo covering up Lucy's panties. :heh: Oh how i just love the humor in this story.
There should be some pretty fancy animation in next weeks episode. Can't wait!

In this episode everyone was all let's still save the dark dispelling guy even after we don't need him anymore.
It'll probably annoy me from now especially after Gray's little speech about still living and stuff. If your going to kill one villain you'd better kill all the rest of them too. It's pretty standard stuff.
The episode was pretty funny but humour lacked impact since I was actually tense about what's going to happen.
Well after reading a lot of complaints about things I don't care about I guess there needs to be something incredibly minor to make it RUINED FOREVER about for me. Although I'll probably get over it by next episode I just hope they don't make a habit of it.

^Actually both RAVE and Fairy tail are extremely violent mangas, including deaths and serious wounds that have to get censored to a ridiculous degree, as happens with all shounen anime, so that 10 year-olds don't have to remember maimed arms and holes through the chest.

(Naruto , Bleach and more anime still have bloods and deaths :) )
It's not so much about the concept of deaths, but the amount of blood allowed or mutilation of a body (like in bleach, although it started out well, later on ripped ribs turned into burns and scratches, blood coughing turns into water or saliva, etc...naruto got some heavy mutilation scenes too that are bound to be censored hard).
But yeah, thinking again, there are some exceptions to this where the gore's kept intact :) Anyhow, censorship levels aren't always stable so there's always a chance of things going another way~

We all know Bob is the best character in this show, Aye! How do you help Natsu win a fight? Easy, just tell him that Gray could do the job instead.
Yet another very well animated episode, and decent pacing to end the lullaby arc.
There was some anime original material added, though it was basically to make the fight with the demon of the book of Zeref fight, and i was quite pleased with it. Especially the added humor with the monster not being able to use Lullaby anymore, i mean that was a typical joke from the manga, and it wasn't even in the manga! Good to see the writers have done their homework for this project.
More new pieces of music in this episode. The piece used for when the monster appeared was pretty damn epic, and the battle theme used after that just followed that up. Also loved the piece used during Kage deceding if he should use Lullaby, and Makarov's epic speech.
Best Happy moment had to be the scene where he told Natsu that Gray could do the job, and then after it saying he forgot. Classic Happy.
Next week looks like they'll animate one of the Omake's, along with some anime original material.
First soundtrack is being released on the 06th of January. Better preorder people!

Animation has definitely improved though. Good stuff, faces are finally starting to look like the manga, which is definitely a plus. Still this show basically pumps me for negima in 2011 =/
edit: just reread the few chapters in the manga, and kinda disappointed with how they didn't make natsu fight more 'goofy'. Shame they didn't keep the 'climb up the tree and kick it in the face' =/

Think this is the best job they've done with Fairy Tail so far. Sure I'd luck to cut down the Natsu cutscenes but at least a few of his attacks were launched without them thus helping with the flow of the fights. The fights were actually pretty pretty good with Natsu wrapping up his and then the team attack. The most powerful team successfully destroys the meeting place and is connected to the destruction of a mountain. I mean they saved the day :heh:.
Just loved the bit with Happy telling Natsu to leave it to Gray :D. No better way to get him riled up and ready to attack with everything he has than to say something like that. Natsu proves without a doubt that getting really pissed off and charging with everything you have will get you the win.
Kind of feel bad for Kage. I know he almost did a terrible thing but saying something horrible like he looked like that Blue Pagaseus leader when he was young was definitely cruel. I mean damn....
One thing I hope they don't keep up is that stupid "wow" voice. It's not a bad thing in theory, but really just sounds annoying especially in the middle of a fight.
The battle action was the best.

This time Erza transforms quickly for Black Wing Armor. She is hot.

Ah, Happy's THE main character of Fairy Tail. XD He's such a helpful yet smartass fuzzball - it's hilarious to see him interacting with everyone.
And Ezra's so much love...can't wait to see how they handle other requests and such.
I loved this series from episode 1. I haven't been able to get enough of it so I went and started reading the manga. I love all the characters and each arch in the main story is interesting and fun. My only two complaints so far are:
1) There doesn't seem to be any primary plot or purpose driving the story. An event will pop up and a plot will develop from that, but it concludes after a few chapters and a new event will trigger another plot soon after. I wish there was some main goal for the characters/guild.
2) There's really not a single intimate relationship. Just a lot of one-sided crushes and jokes about who is now a "couple". I wish something serious would develop...I'm rooting for Lucy x Natsu personally. I'd like to see Erza find a nice guy too.
Now lucy just needs 2 more Rare keys and she will have the set of 6.

Aye! It was an anime original episode, though it was a good laugh. Kinda silly that they just had the gang lost, because that's never happened in the manga, though it doesn't bother me much.
Happy made me laugh so much in this episode, especially his reaction to Lucy encouraging him about the fishing. Plus wanted a good joke for the mushrooms was brilliant. Erza's cooking costume was also a good laugh.
Going by the preview, it looks like they plan to make an episode out of the Natsu and Erza fight. No complaints from me there.

Not bad. A pretty relaxing episode playing up the puns to best of their abilities. I thought for a moment they'd make something out of going to try and eat Tauros :heh:. Still some good stuff like Erza trying to get Lucy to eat first and Happy getting shot down by everyone thinking he was goofing around with the chair :D.
Natsu is the Black Star of Fairy Tail, tons of power, no common sense.
And yes if they continue to use the same cut scene for him over and over (like they have), it brings down the whole anime.

Episode 9 was actually pretty entertaining. Erza being Erza was hilarious as always. I can't wait to see how they handle the next episode, :D
The fight looks to be shaping up quite nicely. I only hope they keep in my favorite scene with Cana and Happy.
I have to say that despite some reservations I had early on, I'm really enjoying all the seiyuu at this point. Aya Hirano is starting to grow on me as Lucy and Rie Kugimiya's Happy continues to amuse me to no end.
And Satomi Arai joined in this episode as Bisca.

I didn't really like episode 9. It was pointless, somewhat random, and didn't advance the story or characters at all. I was expecting this episode to be filler material and not a part of the manga though so at least I was prepared for it. I'm looking forward to the next episode for sure though!

I have just finished reading all the chapters that are out. Gotta say I am really starting to love Fairy Tail. It has the potential to become the new Bleach/Naruto/OP-like anime.
Also, I was wondering why this anime doesn't get a sub-forum. Does it have to be more popular or something? Because some of the animes with sub forums are as good as dead :x

It wasn't bad actually, fun and entertaining... granted i felt the cooking sequence went on a little long; rather had more focus on what exactly happened to the dark guild as that ending portion felt like it came out of nowhere
Though i hope future filler episodes will focus more on the other members of fairy tail... the main cast will get plenty of screentime, and i'd find more interest in fillers with the other members

I think they sped up the 'cutscenes'. Just hurry up and get rid of them all together =O
And seriously remove Erza's henshin sequence. It's completely random and doesn't even show the armor being placed. Just some random outline over a galaxy background (studio probably had some left over scene from some other anime and just needed to fill time)...

To tell the truth, I hope they will get rid of the cutscenes. Although it's cool at the first time, it's getting old. At least when my friend first seeing ep 8, he's in awe and decided to watch this one.

They definitely need to get rid of the cutscenes. People complain about the seals, but the real problem is the cutscenes those seals usually get used in.
Though as I've said before, my personal theory is that they made the cutscenes before realizing what a bad idea they were, but didn't want the money to go to waste.
Things like cutscenes and seals are convenient for the directors because they can add or remove or shorten them to get an episode to a precise length without really changing anything at all. That doesn't make them any more tolerable for the viewers though.

I don't see what's wrong with joking around episodes. The manga is pretty much full of these kind of jokes, so having an episode just on jokes works quite well.
& there's no solid episode count yet, though i'm quite certain it's not 12/13.

Natsu's fire dragon magic motion is cool, but it was a bit too lazy use same motion, Anyway this is just a moment and many other action anime use also this motion to make cool and easy and fast.

Never read the manga I had no idea that episode 9 was an original episode, I think it fit right in with the craziness that is this show. Is the soundtrack out for this show yet, or just various singles? I know it's not in Happy's character, just once I want him to say (Urusei! X3). I'm glad I'm not the only thinking, they should try to eat Taurus. I wonder if there's a chance that Aya will do Opening or closing song for this show?

A pretty nice fight for what was shown before they got interrupted. Still some nice things in this episode like Natsu busting in there dressed up as Erza :D. Damn I'm surprised she didn't kill him for impersonating her dressed up like that....
But yeah making clear there are some pretty powerful people in the guild ahead of Natsu and company. Mystogan is damn powerful to knock out almost everyone and even make the master drowsy. Definitely some odd personalities there. But doesn't match the pure arrogance coming from Laxus. I'm not sure if Natsu was stopped because it was on the second floor or so Natsu wouldn't get killed by Laxus.
Anyways next one looks good. I wouldn't be surprised if they picked that one for the reward that would appeal to Lucy. Getting another powerful key would be huge for her. Since she isn't a direct fighter her strength is matched up to the amount and type of keys she has.

Still, I did rather like the Siegrain seen, they did a good job in terms of his animation at least, and of course good old Ulquiorra lays it on thick in terms of the voice acting :p

I disagree. I think episode 10 was well done and that so far the series is well on its way to being as good as the big three. I do think the manga is better than the anime, but I still really enjoy watching the anime and look forward to every episode. I think the anime highlights the humor of Fairy Tail better than the manga, but that might be just because its easier to deliver a joke when its animated and has voices executing the lines.
Why they always change weapons and tools form? Erza’s sword doesn’t look as in manga also armor change a bit. They don’t believe Hiro Mashima’s designs. I hope if Rave Haru is anime in this studio don’t change his Ten Commandments swords. Well! Erza doesn’t has a main weapon as Haru.

Small design changes is a small liberty I'm ok with, never really a big problem especially if the items are of no real importance.
while the lack of motion during fights is abit disappointing, I'm ok with what they have done so far, the stills work well enough.
hehe gotta say I totally forgot about that part with Natsu and Erza in the cell. For most men be heaven being locked up with such a beauty but for Natsu I guess you could say something closer to hell:heh:

Your forgetting that this is supposed to be an action anime. I do believe the anime brings out the humor more than the manga, but there is far more action than comedy in FT. Don't get me wrong, I love the humor, but the director is using every chance he has to make it humor. The anime is following the manga very close, but at any chance of filler in an episode, they use it for comedy. As you can see, the animation is horrible. Natsu vs Erza were still frames most of the time, just like the previous episodes (except for those horrible reused scenes). For two great studios to be working on this and to be this poorly done is big let down. I can tell that most of the people who like the anime are more interested in voice actors, comedy, and lifeless movement. Does anybody think about the fluid animation and art of an anime like I do? I don't know how much more they can use this cookie cutter animation with the action stuff coming up. As for the big three, well they have great animation at times, mainly for action scenes. So you can probably see why animation is so important for this anime, because FT has about just as much or maybe even more action than any of the big three.

I'm currently reading the manga right now, and I have to say it's probably my 2nd favorite manga right now (besides the last arc), and I'm reading over 50 different manga right now! I don't know why, but it's something I just love about Fairy Tail. Maybe it's the loveable characters, the comedy, the great action scenes, or maybe all of the above. Thats why I'm so angry with this anime, because it's not doing the manga justice.
Episode 10 felt like a true Fairy tail episode. Humor and seriousness mixed together in one.
Episode 9 felt so artificial.

Mashima actually strikes me as one of the few mangaka who actually knows a bit of English, or at least cares enough to try to keep it consistent. So I'd be surprised if he was making it up as he went along. Rave was filled with little things that showed that he really cared about spelling, like puns and whatnot serving as names for things. Even the title "Fairy Tail" is an example of him thinking about this sort of thing.

Damn that sounds like it would have been funny. (Maybe she thinks lowly of the others because they're always fighting and/or drinking in front of her.)
Anyway I personally liked the fight this episode of course I probably wouldn't know a good fight if it stripped naked in front of me.
They really overplayed the tango in this episode. The council needs another leitmotif IMO. Whether it's a second or a replacement I don't care though. (I still like the Can-Can though it seems to fit the show.)
Assuming this new key is real and she gets it this will be her 5th gold key. She seems to be gathering them at an alarming rate. I'm wondering if there's going to be ZOMG backstory behind why she already had three keys or if it's something I'm not supposed to think about. Eh who knows except manga readers.
Also do all fighting shonen series have a gazillion characters? They just introduced two new guys randomly this episode and two last episode and the preview makes it look like there are going to be a lot of people in this next arc.
The Erigor on the loose foreshadowing IMO seemed a bit out of place to be writing in a letter to your mother though. I guess it's better than having the narrator foreshadow it though.
Yeah, it is kind of odd that she has so many of the keys already, isn't it? I mean, there are only 12 of them, and she has 4, so she's already technically in the top 3 or so of Stellar Spirit mages in terms of having powerful keys (as in it's mathematically impossible for more than 2 people to have more keys than her). Which is... weird to think about.
If you look at what she's done though she's actually decently powerful, even if she doesn't act like it. She created a tidal wave in episode one, and impressed Erza in that episode where they fight a bunch of mooks. I think it's just because she doesn't really fight for herself that she seems weak: as a summoner she's not half bad.

um, some new characters! Mistagun's habit is weird.... But at least his personality doesn't seem as demented as Larxes. Marian mentions there're 5 people who can do S class requests. I wonder who the other two other.

I have this concern for just about every anime I watch but it is a bigger concern here than anywhere else.
Thing is I just choose to ignore it and enjoy the series for what and how it is:)

Frankly it would be better if people stopped complaining about what's generally perfectly adequate. They improved the opening animation and they skipped Natsu's stock attack footage in episode 10 so the fights could easily become better later on.

Personally i don't see the point in complaining about it, because it's not like the animation will be much better the week after.

You're not the only one who care about good animation and artwork, but you're the only one who keep on bitching about it. If your complaining can make a miracle, then no matter what, keep on going, but if the only thing it does is annoy other people, then try your best to keep them for yourself.
Do not think that when people don't talk about it mean they don't care about it. They just find it's pointless. Beside, it's not like the animation didn't improve, if you compare the first few episodes with the current ones.

:( I'm sorry that I want the best treatment for one of my favorite mangas. I'm sorry for the complaining, but it seemed that I was the only one who could see somthing wrong with this. There is a lot of enjoyable things in this anime, but come on, it's a shounen. How do you think that makes the people who love the action and intesity in FT feel? I wouldn't be complaing about this as much if it weren't for Mashima's Rave having a bad adaption as well. He's been robbed. As for the opening, they HAD to change some of the stuff in it (Gerard) :frustrated::heh:. The longer you get in an anime doesn't mean animation is going to improve. You have different people working on it, some episodes are going to look better then others. Personally my fav. was episode 3 (animation-wise that is). Lastly I think the animation is the only thing letf to be taken care of, because the anime is following very close to the manga, which is a good thing. I believe the animation could be really good in the future. There is one part in the opening, where the song is at why? why?, that is really good, so maybe there is still a chance, maybe.

Yes, there is no episode scheduled for the 28th. Episode 12 will air on the 4th according to my sources. (subject to change)

I totally love her for Kaede from Nyan Koi but I would never have thought of her for this role, big surprise for me and a nice one at that, really wonder how this will be like:p

Just to clarify, I am the translator for Tv Tokyo Medianet for Fairy Tail. I'm not hired by crunchyroll for this show (although obviously I work with them since that's where the subs end up).
And yes, unless the production schedule I have was changed, next week should be a holiday.

I was just kidding about that. I just saw it on anime news network, and was trying to help out, not trying to get personal here.
Actually, I have read the entire thread. I haven't done anything to you, so why are you on me like that? I know people were talking about how FT was going to be great, and then it didn't turn out as well as they thought it would. I was the happiest person in the world when I heard 2 of my fav. studios were animating it. I'm not superstitious, but I feel really bad, because I had such high expectations for this anime , that i think I jinxed it. There is nothing wrong with pointing out some flaws in an anime that you love is there? I really want the FT anime to do well in the future. There is one thing you have to understand about me, I'm big on art and animation, so don't be too hard on me. The only reason I brought that statement up about few coments on animation is because I wish more people would talk about animation with me a little bit. That's all. :)

A new ending, perhaps, but a new opening? That'd be unprecedented for a shounen show to have a new opening after less than a cour. I'd expect a new one around episode 25-26, or maybe it'll be like one piece and stick with this one even longer.

Aye! Surprised at how much material this episode covered, though the pacing felt quite right, and the cliffhanger worked perfectly. Just a shame the ED had to go and destroy that..
That anime original scene where Natsu said he liked the demon forms was strange, though then again it really is something he'd say. :heh:
Things are really going to hear up next week, though it's the episode after i'm really looking forward to. Shame there's no episode next week though.
