Sorry, I should have been clearer. I think they're referring to what consoles the game will be available on - e.g. Nintendo DS and whatnot.

Got my DVD today. All I can say about the included novel makes my Mikado and Masaomi fangirl side grow. Again. Still reading through it without proper dictionary though, but surprisingly it focuses on Kida more than Mikado despite having Mikado cover (something like vol 2 that focuses on quartet Raijin).

Included in the novel: Mikado wants to have hanami (You know what happens in Spring and May), Kida being Kida... Slip himself as one of the staff of shooting near the place (of course failingly in the end), and Anri-chan appear in the end. Happy hanami~

They're not referring to the Dollars with the title "The Blue Sky Perishes"

They're referring to the Blue Square gang. Correct me if i'm wrong, but I remember around episode 5, somebody said that the Yellow scarves and the Blue squares had this huge fight one day leaving both gangs wiped out. (The yellow flags were reformed later on, as seen in the current arc).

Though if that's the case, it doesn't make any sense that the next episode after that would be titled "The Yellow Sky Rises."

My guess is that episode 19 is going to be a flashback episode, while episode 20 would take place in the present.

Anyway, this arc looks like it's going to be the best out of the last 2. :)

Impressions on episodes 1-4

Impression from episode 1. Introduction with a spineless dork archetype I hate my guts. Then the cheery bijin open friend of his talking and talking and talking and meeting random people. Then some dudes kidnap some girl and a headless rider kicks their ass.
Bad first impression. I don`t see anything interesting so far. And the lack of shading on characters is terrible!

Episode 2 shows how and why was the girl kidnaped. It was lame! She wanted to commit suicide because her dad had an affair. Lol wut? So she goes to meet a total stranger in a dark alley with huge neon lights writting KIDNAP ME! And then she finds out it was all a set up to appreciate life. The guy talked and talked and I didn`t give a shit. So she she jumps to her doom anyway... and gets deus ex machinaed salvation and somehow she now appreciates life.
What horseshit is this???

Episode 3. Lame anime puns and lame shounen like brawling.

Episode 4. She has amnesia TM. Terribly kits.

And the next episodes procceed equally uniteresting until that RETARDED DUO RETURNS MID-SEASON. And that is where I dropped it. Geez, those were the reason I couldn't watch more of 10 minutes of Bacanno and now they are back. Seriously, I gave the series 11 episodes to amaze me and I got Jack from it. In fact, nothing much happened after episode 4. And I hear it becomes far less interesting in the later half. LESS INTERESTING THAN THIS??? DEAR LORD, I won't even bother.

Once again, it's one of those overhyped series that has nothing to offer in the long run. I give it a 6/10 for the whole plot mess but THAT IS THAT. I wasn't entertained at all.

If it wasn't for FMAB, this entire year would be completely shit.

It's not like story driven series are any better. The characters there have little cotrol over their actions and they are all peons to the fate that is the story. I prefer a good balance of both. For example, FMAB has both character driven story AND a very good scenario which doesn't get stuck, drag or does circles for dozens of episodes.

Based on its actions there and elsewhere, Aniplex clearly hopes to bring DRRR to the US. The probability is very high that DRRR will come to the US. But it's not been officially confirmed yet by anyone that DRRR is coming to the US. Which is the only point my comment was making.

It's not an official announcement, but the people who have gotten screeners of the Gurren Laggan movie report that there are two trailers on there, one for Darker than Black II and one for Durarara. The article over on Mania (http://www.mania.com/durarara-darker-black-season-2-going-to-aniplex_article_123417.html) says that both are fully subbed and are coming to the US. Not sure if this has any bearing on it, but I was looking through old ANN news articles and found that the website for this Gurren Laggan movie had gone up quite a while before the announcement so Aniplex may just be a bit slow in that area.

Although I kinda hope it's not true, I want to hear dub! Issac and Miria again!

Ahhh, I was wondering what you meant there. And I also would love to watch DRRR dubbed oddly enough. I want to re-watch it subbed but I think, for some strange reason, that it could do well dubbed (plus dubs sell more in the US, plain and simple).
And so we return to the waiting game, I wonder if not having the DVDs all out yet makes licensing more tricky.

Nope, Funimation has gotten Last Exile, Chrono Crusade, and Kaleido Star and those were all on Crunchyroll (abeit they were license rescues). Having it streamed does mean that it's less likely to get licensed now (which seems silly, just have a clause in the contract that streaming rights will go to the R1 distributor and they're losing less money to fansubs there).

Not entirely correct. It was more along the lines that they're wary of picking up things that are already streaming on services other than their own. Not that they'll skip them. And they've certainly picked alot of Gonzo stuff that's been shown on Crunchyroll (Druaga, Blassreiter, Linebarrels, Strike Witches).

Also, inversely, some titles on Crunchyroll may have been passed on by FUNimation already - the Japanese licensors would prefer to sell to someone like FUNImation who will go for the full extras package on streaming, video rights, packaging assets etc. Part of the reason why Crunchyroll announcements are often so late is that people are holding out till the last minute for a better offer.

Good news and move by Aniplex USA, even the logo looks similar to the original, unlike many other companies which just redesign the whole thing (for the worse). Now, with luck they'll replace Miria and Issac's dub VA's for their cameo =). Now all that's left is for me to wait for it to reach Australia and pray Madman doesn't screw up the release or even better, someone else gets DRRR!! before Madman coughsirenvisualcough.

- 1 hour ago... SO THEY WERE GOING TO MAID CAFE. THAT'S WHY MIKADO HAVE THAT USAMIMI. (Nice 'punishment/persuasion' of sorts from Masaomi though--we see more Anri in nekomimi+megane+yukata when they are going around the town.) And car van chase scene by mafia (... Those English is not too shabby, if I have to say) sure surprises me. Kuzunoha, as the awesome police officer ever, came to the rescue! ... Though mafia car crash in the end is unexpected lmao

On a side note the van gang is crazy as ever. Can't remember straight at the moment, but they have their antics on trying to hope for UFO of sorts? :'D And yeah, this is where Togusa's van definitely got scratched by those mafias' car van-chase

It's revealed that Celty was carrying a living animal (endangered animal, I think.), that the mafia was aiming to get for their business. Glad to see Shiki intercepted in time before Celty uses her prowess. Or maybe not, I want to see Celty in action ;_;

Not sure about the connection between Shiki's yakuza gang and the mafia though. I only caught that Mr. K betrayed Shiki's group. At this point I turned off my Japanese->English translator brain since it was too troublesome.

- The identity of UFO: The yakuza gang that was splattered in paint when confronting Shiki's gang. Thanks to Izaya directing them to Shizuo, telling that their money was plundered by Shizuo. Cue Shizu-chan punching them into the air out of the window, and voila! There are shining "UFO"s!

That seriously is not what I expected. :heh:

- Last scene with the trio BFF (I miss you three being friendly ;_; ), is so, goddamned, adorable. After a bit talk about summer's holiday, not being able to meet and sorts, and then when seeing the "UFO"-guys, Anri accidentally slides down from the slides on the playground and both Masaomi and Mikado was fussing over that is so <333
... Pretty hard to put the story into words, I know but basically, it's... Erm... Similar bags being swapped over. And people pursuing those bags, whichever of the three bags have the things they wanted. I'm still confused about some things, but eh, I'm in a hurry now.

And Izaya is such a troublemaker, isn't he? Orchestrating this all... :heh:

That would be pretty pointless especially considering that Celty is the closest thing to a MC in this series. Every plot point whether directly or, indirectly involves her at some level. Part of the first half series was about her letting go some of the heavy fixation on head. If anything the more important point is if she really is Valkyrie and how Izaya plans chaos differently this time to achieve his goal.

A spin-off series would be better suited for a deeper look in to the Yellow/Blue Square war involving Masaomi, the Otaku, Izumi and Izaya. Even Shizuo, Izaya and Shinra school days would be great.

I didnt buy the DVD but I saw the English Dub online.
It was decent, I like a lot of the VA's in the show.

Aniplex did a pretty good job with the handling of this imo.

Some of the dub was better than others. The first episode was really difficult for me to listen to because it sounded like Kida and Mikado's VAs, especially, were reading off a page and not really thinking about the line delivery. The cadence and emphasis was off, in the sort of way that happens if you're reading out loud.

But I got used to it, mostly, as the episodes progressed, and some of the VAs were much more satisfactory - Celty's and Simon's, and JYB was great as Shizuo.

(I'm slightly disappointed that they went with "Shizu-chan" and not the "Shizzy" nickname that the first sub I saw used. It's a much more fitting localisation, imo, considering that they decided to have everyone call each other by first name, including the otaku group who no one calls by first name.)

I enjoyed Namie killing Izaya's TV and saying all this "where-the-hell-is-he-oh-like-I-care". And the way Shizuo dealt with Orihara twins. And shaggy Shinra worrying about his darling Celty, as usual. Aaaand Izaya-Shizuo interactions (gosh all the chasing scene was hilarious!), of course.
I realized how I miss them all. Want another season so badly.

OMG! I LOOOOOVE EP 25!!! It was PERFECT especially for all the Shizaya fans. Their fighting took a HUGE chuck of the latter half. ;) This is going to be an extremely long post cuz I want to post my thoughts on all the characters. :naughty:

Their fighting was just AWESOME and EPIC and I never knew Izaya could move like that! The parkour scenes were mind-blowing! I wish they showed more of it. It was so fast too keep up. Even tho Shizuo can do parkour too, Izaya still keeps it in his OWN fun style with all the swinging and all.

Izaya is such a loveable prick taunting Shizuo like that (and getting away with it). OMG it just made me love him all over again. : D====

Was it just me or did they made Izaya’s expression very Light Yagami (Death Note)? Throughout the entire episode, all those zoom in Izaya’s shots were faces that I have seen Light made. It creped me out!! Izaya was having a little TOO much fun. :love:

I went 0.0 how Shizuo treated Izaya’s sisters!! How mean!! I thought he had a policy to never hurt girls? I wonder how they got out? The sisters were very cute being all fangirls but that kiss came out of no where. I assume it was fanservice?

Celty and Shinra was just pure awesome. I love how MOE and caring Celty was and how lovely dovey Shinra was. Too bad they didn’t win for #1 couple.

I can’t believe they showed Kida & Saki!! Urgh too MUCH Seiji and I can’t believe Namie destroyed Izaya’s TV!! How is he gonna watch his kiddie shows now? I’m happy they showed Namie but her level of incest is getting too disturbing. :uhoh:

Kasuka wasn’t at all what I expected; I always wondered how he was a great actor if all he does is deadpan. It actually disturbed me seeing him having….Kida’s personality….Mikado and Anri were the same; yay Anri (and Kida) got new clothes!! Simon was funny trying to get on tv so he could advertise his sushi.

Did anyone notice that during the final scene where everyone got the “this is what they are doing now” scenes that they skipped Izaya?!!! Even the cop got a “final” scene!!

Sadly the ending gave me a “no second season” feeling cuz they randomly included a new “Mikado’s character.”
