Yes, it is good. I watched the whole thing in two nights because it got me hooked once I started. Coincidently, the Berserk Perfect Collection just came out and you can get the whole series for $84 at www.deepdiscountdvd.com

Berserk is one of the best anime out there..There are few good threads on this Topic which might give you a better idea...You can do a search on it...Also, Berserk is a Licensed anime, so it would have been appropriate to post your thread on the "Licenced Anime" section of the forum..Dont be surprised if the MODS lend you a helping hand on that..:D..

It's definitely not Naruto-like (even tho I dont know Naruto that much), Berserk is not even a shonen, Berserk looks violent but in fact, the story is complex (not really in the anime cause some details disappeared and just cover the beginning of the manga), the psychology of the chara is so well drawn through the events...it's really powerful, buy these DVDs :D
As Go-lytely said, it will hook so much...

ahhh..Looks like you have read a certain thread from Naruto:D...Am I guessing correct?...Well, to try to compare those two anime will be waste of time and ideas...They are both good, the best actually, in their own ways...You just have to watch to appreciate and will get your own understanding...

Berserk is definatly a cool series but nothing like Naruto. But if you still want to compare it to Naruto there are a few categories you could compare.

Animation - It is an older series so the animation is'nt quite as good, but the art style is awsome.

Violence - Berserk has much more and lots of blood.

Storyline - They are right that the storyline is much deeper, but you should be warned, the Anime does not finish the story. It will leave you hanging, I have read on this forum a few months ago someone claiming that there would be a second season but I dont know if that has been confirmed. But be prepared, I will give a comparison to how the ending feels. It feels the same way I would imagine it would have felt if George Lucas stopped after Empire Strikes Back. But if your willing to read the Manga, or the second season comes out, then it should'nt be a problem.

Humor - I don't recall any humor in Beserk.

Overall - On a scale of 1-10 I'd give Berserk an 7, but if the story was ever finished it would probably be a 8 or 9 in my opinion.

YES WATCH OUR FOR THE HANGING ENDING. The ending is very disturbing also, well the whole anime is disturbing but especially the end. So unless you are prepared to get the manga to continue the story (which i have had NO luck in doing) dont watch this anime yet

Nah, its a must watch if you are into this kind of deep anime with very mature storyline. Its fill with violence and gore and the show is not complete without it. I personally like it very much and is trying to catch up with the manga. :)

Ya, there are speculation of Berserk season 2 from here... :D

Allthough it IS very violent, that's not all there is to it. It has some of the best character development I've seen in anime.

I have the whole manga of Berserk in hand. I'm really excited to finish the series also because of the cliff-hanger ending. I just can't find the time to read them because of school.

It's soooooooooooooo lame. Anything you have in this "anime" is fight and blood... no plot at all. The movie Shiloh has more stroyline than that.
I didn't get through the first 2 episode. The only reason I would want it is to destroy it again and again and again.....

berserk was one of the best anime ive ever watched, to say it has no storyline is proof that youve only watched 1 episode, and didnt pay much attention to it. the cliff hanging ending might disturb u if u have a weak stomache, but it personally made me think the series got that much better, a complete new twist to the story, the thing some people think the anime lacks.. i suggest watching atleast 4 of them, that way ull start to get an idea of whats going on, the 1st 2 dont seem to tie in much, but all will be explained, its called the lovely art of foreshadowing.. and the 1st episode is the most blatent foreshadow u will ever see if u watch it long enough to understand it.. and are u serious that theres not gonna be a 2nd season?? all i can find is the 1st 2 mangas.. im gonna be screwed on seeing the end at this rate

A group called 'The Hawks' has scanlated all of the manga so far. The manga is still running and doesn't really look close to stopping.

Berserk is one of my favorite anime if not my favorite anime of all time. The story is extremely deep and is also extremely violent as well. It deals with so much in its story; trust, betrayal, love, politics, murder, rape, and more. To say that this anime doesn't have much of a storyline it idiotic. Yes the story leaves at a huge cliff hanger but leaves wanting to see or read it that much more. Unfortunately the second season is only hearsay because no american or japanese sites have talked about doing it. What i would like to see is an american company helping fund a second season. There is so much substance that a second season could easily be done. My guess is however that the people behind berserk's anime is that they want to see the manga end and then make a second season from there. I do however seen one problem with that and that is the first season covers roughly 12 1/2 manga worth, and now that manga 26 is due out soon, i think to wait for the ending would make season 2 too full of things to relate and tell and might not be as deep or compelling as it should. Lots of things can happen though as we all know in this ever increasing industry(well this side of things). Another worry i have is that Japan is in a huge depression right now and that also makes it hard to continue with series that have been on the shelf for a while. But hoping never hurts. Ok my blabbering is done.

How would anyone know when you would start thinking that any series stop sucking? I mean we dont know what you like and its not that Berserk is a series that will be appealing to everyone. What series is? If you dont like Berserk then I recommend you to watch something else because you are the only one to decide when it will stop sucking. Got my meaning? In my case I liked Berserk from ep 1 and started loving it from ep 2 or something, cant really remember but does it matter?

yes i must agree with the foreshadowing and character development being very awesome, i have the first season on dvd and was watching that last episode and it ended so abruptly,, i was like WTF there has got to be one more epsiode or something,,,, i must find the manga,,,,, i just want to know if at the end of the last episode when i think grifith is injected his evil demon semen into Koska or wut the hell is going on,,,, dood guts is the shit, and Zod the Immortal,,,wtf that was awesome, i found myself getting happy when guts anilated hundreds of dudes when he got pissed, and when people underestimated him,,, there has got to be more,, i need it,,,

i give it an 8 ... with a complete second season no matter wut the outcome as long as i get some GD closure i will give it an easy 9,,, possibly a 10...... great anime series

and WTF THERE IS A SECOND HELLSING SEASON?? i must find it??? is it as good as the first??

Well, I just downloaded the 25 episodes of berserk (don't ask me where did I get it from) the fact is that this anime is along with Saint Seiya a true piece of art. What attracts me so much in this anime is that it shares the same poetry that Saint Seiya does. It makes it powerful. If Saint Seiya's poetry was based on the importance of friendship and love, Berserk's poetry is based on pursuing ideals and dreams. I just finish watching the last episode and I must say that I'm astonished. Griffits has to be one the most well develop characters I have ever seen.

This anime is so real, so full of deep. The characters were all very well developed. Every time that someone was killed it was done in slow motion as it were done on purpose to show the blood being spilled by someone blinded by meaningless human emotions. The drawing technique was just remarkable. This anime was so powerful that I was able to feel the emotions that were experienced by each of the characters. The words uttered in the intro were just perfect: "In this world man's destiny is controlled by some transcendental entity or law... like the hand of God. At least, man knows that he has no control over his own will." These words made me anxious to know what the objective of this anime was, and the ending of the show was so deep that those words from the intro made me realize that everything is the product of causality.

This anime is violent but that’s exactly what makes it real. You can see most human aspects in this anime, love, hope, treason, envy, optimism, struggle, passion and dreams. Each one of them was perfectly picture. Death was also an aspect that this anime really knows how to represent. It happened quick it was cold and it was done without remorse, as if it were part of human nature. Yes, this is just an emotional post. But, by know you must know that this anime is so potent that it forced me to communicate what I thought. As Saint Seiya is, this is not a common anime, which means that there is no middle ground, you either hate it or like it.

I hope that the second season comes soon.

No second season???? why? that doesn't make sense. The first episode was the prelude of a second season. Watch it carefuly. It sounds totally illogical not to make a secon season :?

What about the manga? is it still going on? has it continued the story? has it answerd all the questions left?

1. The anime caught up to the manga so they stopped. The fact that they stopped a long time ago and not to mention the massive amount of sex & violence in the manga makes it unlikely there will be a second season.

2. The manga is still going on. Manga volume 26 was just translated by 'the hawks'. The anime only covers something like volume 2 through 13. Some questions have been answered in the manga but there's lots of new ones as well. A lot has happened since the point where the anime ended.

3. Berserk rocks.

That is all.

I posted this link months ago here and note that this berserk news has been up for almost a year now without any updates. there's an English version of this but too lazy to look. :uhoh:
Btw, i suggest you take this news with a grain of salt...as they say...

Incidentally, i also heard from a Japanese TV interview on the reasons why there won't be any Vandread new seasons or even a Berserk. The reason is that some japanese think that Berserk is too violent as to be aired on TV and the Vandread same sex marriage implications are frowned by some japanese viewers...
:hmm: with a lot of different types of anime stories being made each year, why vandread...go figure. :twitch:

Well, there hasn't been any Japanese websites promoting a season 2 of the berserk anime, like that spanish? one has. My speculation is that they got the GAME that is coming out for ps2 confused or misinformed and thought that is was the layout for a season 2. BTW, Sammy Studios will be doing that game and it will be true to the manga's storyline(sure the sexual stuff will be left out).

Here is another reason for why a season 2 of Berserk probally won't happen:
the anime left many key points and characters out that were vital to the story in the manga. Skull Knight, Puck, or the monkey demon were not even shown or even talked about. Zodd was only in one real scene and not shown really for the rest of the series, whereas the manga had him in several scenes. They just left out too much to make a second season make sense. We know that Gatsu escaped what happened at the end, but what we don't know is, how. The way he did, would make no sense unless you read the manga. I love the anime, but it pales in comparison to the manga in every way. If they make a season 2, it just won't make any sense and they would need to go off on their own storyline, if they did that and did a good job of making their own story, then i would support the season 2. But that is highly unlikely, season 3 of Rurouni Kenshin proved that tragically.

Manga is not everything, yes I know that manga is always many steps ahead because it is cheaper to produce than anime. The same thing happened with Saint Seiya. Nobody thought that there would be a continuation to the series that ended abruptly due to many problems. But the pressure of saint seiya's fans was so big that after 15 years they have decided to continue to animate the manga and even make two new sagas (I won't go into further detail) I see that Berserk is an anime with A LOT POTENTIAL more than any other anime that I'm currently watching from animesuki. I'm also sure that I'm not the only one who thinks that this is one of the gratest anime in story and therefore It shall have a worthy ending (The same thing goes for Saint Seiya which was/is in the same situation) Hence, It's sure that there are many people who want this anime ALIVE, and I guarantee that there will be a second season. I don't know when, but there must be one. The pressure comming from Berserk's fans cannot be avoided be the creators of this anime and the greedy Japanese anime studios :p

I just hope that I don't have to wait 15 years to see a new season :(

By the way how old is this anime? How long has it been waiting?

PS: And I read that page about Beserk 2004 and it just says that nippon studios has anounced an upcoming berserk saga for 2004. But that's all, there is neither a source nor an specific details. So don't believe in that Portuguese web page :(

I think the anime is 4-5 years.. I think it first came out in 98-99', all I remembered that it had a 1am time slot.

I think what the person was saying that the differences between the anime AND manga are so great that any second season would be totally be made up and end up like the piece of shyt that RK season 3 was. Which I agree to FULLY. Plus the manga is everything, since its based off the manga.

If you read the manga, you'd understand what we mean, and understand why season 2 would be in the X-Rated section of a video-store.

I watched Berserk way back when, when it was making its small but noticable appearance here in the states. Then I went and got my hands on the manga, and I must say... a season 2 would be a GREAT travesty to BERSERK, to its creator, and to the auidences.

Unless season 2 was like.. an uncut do-over of season1 or just a continuation of season 1 with it being manga-accurate (scene, character, violent and sex wise.) then I'll support it. But if not...

No. Never. Ever.

The sex & gore level of the manga is way too high for Japanese TV, even in the middle of the night.

I think they could make an OVA series, and just pretend the first season was manga-accurate. (i.e. just pretend the first season did have all the characters and plot they left out)

I didn't like Berserk anime very much.

They left aside many important passages of the manga, such as the Black Dogs attack (even though it wasn't relevant since the series ended when Griffith became an Angel). And they took off one of my favorite characters: Pakk! He's definetely the funniest character in Berserk.

The manga is much better than the anime. And IMO, the manga gets really good just after the ending of the anime, when Griffith becames an Angel and Gatts become the Black Swrodsman (even though when he was in the Band of the Hawks was really cool). The Rebirth arc is one of my favorites, all those christian fanatics; it represents perfectly the church power in Middle-age.

Berserk isn't a manga that goes very good in anime IMO. Just like Vagabond and Blade of the Immortal. They just don't fit well in anime IMO. You don't get the same feeling watching than reading.

Too much sex and violence? so what do you think about ninja scroll tv and the movie? Anyway, if the anime was this good, if it had the power and creativity to transmit feelings through the screen, as just a few shows are capable of achieving, then I consider that a secon season would be perfect. I don't like to read manga. Manga is cheap, it doesn't improve my reading skills since all that I'm doing is watching pictures. I don't mind if the anime is violent or not as long as it is REAL. The anime had that human touch in every episode. So yes, I bet you that a second season wil come since an anime would expant the appreciation of the author's work, and I believe that he doesn't want his work to be appreciated for just a few. It is human nature.

PS. I didn't read the manga, therefore I'm not missing anything. If there are characters that are not shown in the anime I don't care. All that I care about is that the second season is as good or better than the first.

I never said there was too much sex or violence in general, but for even Japanese TV air-waves, I would say theres WAY too much unless its an OVA series. Also I loved the movie, so far I haven't liked the show. But both those pale in comparison to BERSERK in its manga-form though, even if you don't care about the manga, I highly suggest you check it out, its a great read.

...

No.

The first episode doesn't spoil anything, in my opinion.
It's called foreshadowing.
Because when you watch the first episode you don't know what most of that stuff means yet.

And sadly Gatts doesn't even become the Black Swordsman in the anime.
So all those cool weapons, the Dragon Slayer and stuff. He becomes the Black Swordsman just after the end of the anime- which's in book 13 of the manga.

In the 1st episode, he was already the Black Swordsman. It was just an appetizer to the manga, which really begins with the finding of baby Gatts in the Revenge arc.

Was the first season of Berserk based on the manga? or did it just have some elements? Because if it doesn't follow the manga closely it demonstrates that Berserk can be an exelent anime without following the manga.

acualty the first episode does spoil a lot.

you know that griffin betrays them from it.
you know that everyone is dead(except caska which is not explain)
you know he some sort of swordmen who is fighting demons. so you can predict he eventually going to be fighting them some where along the line.
also how unusal he is.

most of its spoiled because of that dream he had

it spoils some of the biggest questions thought. thats not forehsadowing.

It do follow the manga very closely, but a lot of passages/elements that were just relevant to the future were taken off. Pakk the elf, for instance. For the anime, he wouldn't be an important character, he just becomes important later on. And the Black Dogs attack, as well as the Kushan assassins attack; were left aside too.

It was like 90% based on the manga, they hardly added anything that wasn't in the manga, but they did leave out some stuff.

Let's take this one at a time:

- you know that griffin betrays them from it.

it's true that you know Gatts has some sort of grudge towards Griffith.

- you know that everyone is dead(except caska which is not explain)

No, you don't. The other members of the band of the hawk aren't even mentioned.

- you know he some sort of swordmen who is fighting demons. so you can predict he eventually going to be fighting them some where along the line.

How is this a spoiler?

- also how unusal he is.

Also not a spoiler.

Just my 2 cents:
Berserk Anime: PG 13
Berserk Manga: Adult Only
Why AO? Cause theres so much rape/violence plus most of the evil female foes are nude/half nude. But that doesn't prevent it from being awesome XD. Infact ive read it all up to current volume 26, i suggest u get it 2 if u want to know what happens after the anime ends.

Yes, he fights a demon in the first episode, however I don't consider that a spoiler because it doesn't really spoil anything, now does it? You might as well say that the fact that Gatts has a sword in the first episode is a spoiler.

What I'm saying is: (warning: spoilers about cool live-action movies)
Kevin Spacey was Keyzer Soze in The Usual Suspects.
or
Bruce Willis was a ghost the whole time in The Sixth Sense.
are spoilers.

'Gatts fights demons' is not a spoiler.

Also, you're the one who just spoiled the fact that
Caska is not dead for Sugetsu by not using spoiler tags.

Now who's the dumbass?

OK, so I've been told by a lot of my friends that also watch anime that I have to see berserk, it's the greatest thing since nipples. So I get it and watch the episodes. Okay, this is pretty cool, a guy with a giant sword killing the hell out of some guys. Castle raids, political maneuvering, great battle scenes, crazy action all around, normal medieval fantasy-type anime.

Then I got to episode 23.

Red faces as the ground and sky, a naked giant demon woman coming out of the ground, some fatfaced little demon, then you got hellraiser's brother in law with his brain on the outside of his skull and no lips and his eyes sewed shut. You get hentai tentacle demon monsters, then everyone starts getting the hell eaten out of them. Then Griffith turns into a winged demon and rapes Caska in front of Guts who cuts his own arm off and then gets his eye jabbed out by some other demon while he watches his woman get raped by the demon form of his best friend. I'm expecting him to snap and rip shit up, or Zod to come in and run a death train on some demons, and then I see the ending credits and realize I've got no more episodes to watch.

WHAT THE HELL KIND OF ENDING IS THAT?

Before you all start posting and saying how retarded I am, I realize that there are manga chapters that go beyond the show, which I am trying to get my hands on now, but I watched the last anime episode about 15 minutes ago and it's really blowing my mind. What the hell?

I don't mind manga spoilers so if someone wants to give a synopsis of what the chapters after this are all about, or links to summaries or something, I'd not complain.

Seriously though, what the hell?:twitch:

Started good, felt like it could be something different, but -IMO- is just fell short of it. Slightly too revelling in gore and berserk, and the protagonist made me think of young teens in their worst testosterone-age. If the ending was bland, guess the whole serie was about that; "berserk desperation." Not sure, since I read the manga only to half-way.

Just finnished watching the anime last night, man what a great series and what a hell of a place to end it! Oh well, im just glad to know the story continues in the manga.

One thing I have a quick question about though is:

In the beginning of the first anime episode which as we know takes place after the Eclipse, we see some guy in the bar mention that "Ever since Griffith became king I've lost all hope." This is confusing to me because in the spoilers I have read which talk about the events that happen after the Eclipse, it mentions nothing about Griffith becoming the king of Midland. Is this a mistake on the anime's part, or does Griffith in demon form rule Midland at that point??

Mr.Hawq
2006-03-16, 14:26
I think I read somewhere that yes he does become king, and he also changed his name into something else, he still looks more like a human, but in some kingd of demon suit, the same suit that you see in the last episode him wearing. Also that Caska got pregenant because of the raping she went through with griffith, and gave birth to a child, and because of some armour Guts wears he goes crazy because of his ambition to get griffith, that guts nearly raped caska, and that is when caska was not staying close to guts anymore. That sounded quite interesting and now I want to read the manga, but sad how Guts turns to be just because of the eclipse.

Anyways the thing I can say abou the series is that, every episode up to 22, was awsome. From there I thought that it sucked, and really took you out of the picture and mood, heck I was not even interested in watching the last episode, when I did I though about the ending for about the night and forgot in the morning. If I were to rate the show I would give it a 8/10

By the way Caska and Guts romance was well done, but they juuuuuuuust had to wreck it in the end.

I only have the first four volumes, but they're great.

I definately recommend trying the manga, if the anime didn't impress.. It's not the first time I've heard bad things about that anime (Which I haven't seen myself), yet the manga gets generally favorable reviews.

Only real down side, is Dark Horse has very few volumes out there now. If you want to keep it legal, much less own a solid copy of something that doesn't require a battery, you've gotta suffer through the long waits between releases... (I guess it's not THAT bad, and each volume has multiple books, but still..)

Edit: Ah, crap, I must've done a general search instead of looking only through the manga forum, which was my intent.

Sorry about that. ^_^;

the anime isnt that impressive most of its just still pictures mostly just colored frames of the manga but the story is very good and just sucks you in

oh yea i also collected a few of the mangas i ave vol 1 - 10 or 11 thats basically where the series ends off volumes 12- 15 have recently been released but the manga goes all the way up to vol 30 in japan.

you could download translated scans of them off of bittorrent if you search fr them

I believe his new name is Femto, Or Femtos, Not sure which

I think the music is beautiful in Berserk, And the scenery really complimented it in some scenes
The ending was very shocking, And if you got to know the characters abit upsetting
But the manga really delves deeper than the anime does

What i don't get is why people say "Due to the violence and sex in the manga there won't be a second series"
This is stupid IMO, As animes like Elfen Lied and others have lots of violence, And the Urotsukidoji series has both extreme violence and graphic sex scenes
So i highly doubt the violence and sex reasons are correct
It probably has something to do with funding or lack of interest from company's now

Berserk is an anime that takes you to another world. A world of warriors, magic, evil and beauty. The best thing about Berserk is the story. We view the world through the eyes of GATS. A lone warrior with a dark past. A man whose life was ripped apart when everyone he knew was killed, and the love of his life was taken away from him. I truly love this anime Because, if a course was ever taught on the concept of character development, the professor should show Berserk.

Not only is the anime pumped with action, you can also feel the mystery and conspiracies eating away at your skin. We learn about characters that have literally been through hell and back, but are still standing strong.

As far as i am concerned, every great anime that comes close to a masterpiece or is a masterpiece must have a love story. And the love story between Caska and Gats with grab your heart like a vice. Two souls that are perfect for each other but do not know it. Two kindred spiirits heading in different directions, yet bound to be soul mates. I love this anime.

Berserk is a masterpiece, not only because it is supremely entertaining, but because it will break your heart many times over, you will cry, your skin will crawl, you will laugh with the characters like they were your friends, because you know how much they have been through... But the end of this anime reminds us why it has surpassed every other of its genre. It leaves you dying for more. Berserk is simply unforgettable.

I know the story goes on in the manga, though i have made attempts to read it, it just isnt the same... seeing caska and gats, hearing their voices, the music in the background, the operatic conversations, the shakespearean moments, the greatness of gore, just isnt the same in a black an white page. The ending of berserk as Gats walks away with his new had determined to find the love of his life was just phenomenal. But now it just seems the manga is dragging on, so i dont want it to taint my love for berserk. and looking at my top 10, u cna see how high it is ranked.

Hi all
I am new to anime and to manga, so please forgive my ignorance about the subject. I want to find some information out that would be really helpful.
I wanted to know if there is an anime of the BERSERK manga comic. I am particulary keen to know if Chapters 274, 275, 276 have been made into anime? this is the section where there is a big battle with Emperor Ganishka.
If anyone knows where I can get this (and if its been done) I would be really grateful if you could let me know.
thanks very much

As I said, the anime ends just after the Festival of the Eclipse. That is looong before Ganishka appears.

I was trying to say this without spoilers, but in case you don't remember what the Festival of the Eclipse was, that was when Griffith became a god. After he becomes a god, the anime ends.

So far there are no plans to make another season even though there is more than enough manga for another 25 episodes.

lol I got hooked on berserk after the 1st dvd. Bought 4 out of 5 and waited for that 5th dvd release.

My friends could not wait either. As soon as it came out we all watched the last dvd. After it was over nobody moved, no one said a word.

It's like the lay of your life then get shot in the face. Man...

I got curious though and got my hands on the manga... figured I'd skip to where the anime left off. 16 hours later I crawled into my kitchen for some food and afterwards sleep.

What suprises me the most is the art. This isn't a comic. Half that shit can be framed and sold as art, GOOD art.
There is so much detail, such rich backgrounds that the story comes alive.

Don't miss out on the berserk manga. Just make sure that when you get your hands on it, put some time aside to read it. Once you get into it, it's very hard to stop.

I think the Black Swordsman arc wasn't created yet when the anime was running. Correct me if I'm wrong.

For me the ending kinda suits the purpose of defining Berserk's dark fantasy genre. I say the ending was fleshed out and more disturbing in the manga. Besides, what other ending could replace it. It was Muira's invention.

The Black Swordsman arc is vol 1-3 (very first arc)... So it must've been created because the anime came out around 7 years after the manga already started. They actually showed a part of the Black Swordsman arc... it was episode 1.

Unless Miura went back and created v1-3 after the anime?

Berserk vol32 is due for released in nov 29 2007, and the story itself has progressed halfway into vol 33 frame.

From the look of it, there is still no sign of ending anywhere soon.

Well i checked the forum and i couldnt really find a thread for the Berserk anime, so i thought i would make one.

Any ways the series was great. I loved the BGM. Yet still what a sad ending. How dare they did such horible things to Griffin.

I checked and saw the Manga is at volume 33 ( anime ended at 13). I wonder if there will ever be another season of Berserk.

One could only hope for a another season of Berserk.

However, sadly if I remember correctly the anime excluded a few key elements that play a major role after the Sacrifice, Puck and The Skull Knight from the top of my head.

But they could easily somehow reintroduce them via a flashback for the SK, and probably a different approach for Puck, I just suppose its just wishful thinking.

If they did make another addition to the series, I could see it lasting up to around the Tower Arc with that weird priest apostle. Even though I'd like to see an great quality animation of the Berserk Armors first appearance, and the near end of the Millennium Falcon Arc.

One could only hope for a another season of Berserk.

I see. I never knew about a character named puck, but i read on few chapters after the end of anime and i saw that Skeleton Knight. He is strong. its a good anime. They should continue it. It will become as popular naruto and bleach if they do.

I just rented two Berserk movies, I forget what they're called, though. What order should I watch them in?

There are no Berserk movies. There are only TV episodes. Watch them in numerical order from 1 to 25.

Anyone else wish that a second season of Berserk will be made at some point? It's such an amazing series, I think I've seen it three or four times - and I never rewatch TV Shows/animes. Though, I guess as time goes on it becomes and more unlikely that a second season will be made - compounded with the fact that the next volumes are much more violent.

One can still hope though!

and where do you wish your second season continued until?

I do feel its better to proceed all the way till Guts got his berserker's armour...

Imagine the first episode of season 2 showing a short clip/preview of Grunbeld vs Berserker's Guts before flashing back to the point where season 1 has ended off (which is the actual story)

yea I've heard about the author wanting to do another season but the manga isn't far ahead enough but I too have seen a quote from miura himself so it may just be hearsay. But if they did another season they'd have to redo it as they cut out skull knight... and he was a pretty MASSIVE part towards the golden age arc. So if they ever did another series I hope its like the hellsing OVA's their doing now. 1 volume or so per episode.

producing a 40+ 0.8-1.5 hours ova episodes series takes LOTS of money.
i doubt something like that could happen..

The manga is far ahead.
The old anime covers roughly 13 volumes while the manga is now around the half of volume 33 an the Skull Knight is actually very easy to add (through flashback). There is enough room for at least one season, 2 with a little (but not that much) stretching.

However, if the anime is intended to finish Berserk in one go through a long serie, it's true the manga isn't ahead enough because the manga is so damn slow.

A long OVA series wouldn't be to bad its been done before with legend of the galactic heroes :P Plus berserk has a huge following I could see it happening.

but did LOTGH had the ammounts of action that require extreme animation like berserk or hellsing?

moreover 30 episodes of an hour or so is at least equivalent of around 100 episodes..
hellsing gets an episode per volume, but as far as i remember every berserk volume has more chapters then a volume of hellsing.
so the 60~ minutes or so each hellsing ep doesn't really cover it all.

while i would love to see something like that, its extremely unlikely, then again hellsing's ova wasn't exactly expected so who knows :P

Rahan
2008-07-27, 15:07
What is "exream" animation ? Extreme ? Anyways, LOTGH had very little action. There was also no problem of catching up with the source since the last novel was published before the first OVA was released (and the last side stories novel was published shortly after the first episode was released)

Also, OVA doesn't mean 50 mn long episodes. LOTGH episodes were your usual 25 mn long episode (op/ed included).

Jiyuu
2008-07-27, 15:30
yeah extreme, sorry misspelled XD

anyway the point was not 50minutes ovas.
it was the fact that if you want the ova to be 1:1 to the manga (like the mentioned hellsing) it will take over 50 minutes per volume.
so in total the 30+ volumes of berserk might very well be longer then LOTGH and at the same time will take far more budget because of the amounts of action.

While I keep mentioning a OVA besides a TV series is a OVA can get away with 10 times as much as a TV series and berserk has ALOT of stuff thats not safe for tv. As for length of the episodes per volume it would really depend of what volumes. Some volumes you can just blow through like volume 1-3 of berserk where its mostly guts killing nameless soldiers with pointless violence while most of the golden age volumes have much much much more dialog then once again after the eclipse for a few volumes it goes back to guts mindlessly killing again. I found those volumes to be the weakest parts of berserk. But in the end sadly this is all far to much hope since the last OMG berserk thing we got was the PS2 game which was frikkin sweet

Jiyuu
2008-07-28, 01:26
yeah the PS2 game was really good.
it had some "filler" parts but all in all it was pretty close to the manga.
and the cutscenes were great.

Some guy at neogaf (a popular gaming site) said he has a friend working on a new Berserk anime, at first people were calling BS and even wanting him to get banned :heh: well nearly a year later he's posted these pics and then quickly took them down.

Is it just me, or do those look a little wide for a standard 16:9 TV aspect ratio?

The aspect ratio is a bit odd... is it supposed to be a film? I don't really watch many anime films but I thought they were usually at 16:9 too. EDIT: Oh wait... after looking closer that's a 16:10 monitor (image is a bit dark so I didn't see the edges). I should've thought of that though since I have one myself. :heh:

But anyway, wether true or not, I'll have to just remain skeptical and say fake. Unless things are officially confirmed I usually try not to get my hopes up too much. Though I really wouldn't mind a proper conclusively ending series being made rather than another 'advertisement'.

This seems like an idea someone is pitching and it might not have been getting a good reception. So best way to get some fan support is "accidently" release some photos, although releasing this on an english website automatically makes my theory suspect. Either way I call fake unless we hear some more rumors or something.
