Favorite Episode in First Season?

What's your favorite episode in Season 1 of Fullmetal Alchemist (that is, episodes one to thirteen) and why? You can post a runner-up if you want.

My favorite episode in Season 1 is definitely Episode 13: Fire Vs. Steel. Ed's fight with Mustang is priceless. The humor overflows in this episode, also... the whole thing with the dog, Ed's imitation of Mustang, Hughes's developed obsession with his daughter, Ed's fighting strategies... one of my favorite parts is when Hughes is talking into the loudspeaker...

HUGHES: There, in that corner, the Flame Alchemist, Roy Mustang!
Spectator A: So bad! You suck!
Spectator B: Give me back my girlfriend!
HUGHES: And in that corner, the Fullmetal Alchemist, Edward Elric!
Spectator A: What? Where? I can't see him!
Spectator B: So small!
Spectator C: An elementary school kid?

Fire vs. Steel also has its share of drama (nearing the end). The scene with Mustang and the frightened boy (with the amazing background music!) is pretty touching. All in all, the whole episode is amazing.

I kinda liked the one with Psiren. As a stand-alone episode, it was pretty decent. If I'm bored and don't feel like getting involved in an ongoing anime story when I watch an episode I'll watch the Psiren episode every once in a while.

Runner-ups would have to be the two episodes where Scar chases Marco, Ed, and Al. Pretty exciting stuff. :)

I was really shocked by the 7th, the one where the weirdo alchemist (Tucker-san) uses his dauhgter Nina and his dog to create a chimera :eek: .... and how it get killed at the end.... baaaah.
(and before his wife) .
I will never forget it, but i cannot say its my favorite..... This one was not really in the line or the mood of the other one. i feel.... a bit sick.

I agree totally! I was really shocked by the episode. I can't say that is my favourite either, but it was the one that affected me the most. :)

I certainly did enjoy episode 13 with the Roy vs Ed fight. That was just hilarious.

Though I must say, that learning of how they came to be alchemists was one of my favorite things to see.

As another one, just about anything with Winry in is holds a special place in my heart, those two need to hook up!

I liked that too! I liked how they showed the brothers before they became alchemists and their evolution as alchemists. Because they didn't show them as short flashbacks, like Naruto does, but with several episodes, just focusing on that point of their lives.
FMA I like!

my favorite ep has to actually be the latest ep 21 because al ends up saving scar from the blast showing how much he really does care about other people!! also the rise of intensity by the end of the ep is great!! i think that this ep in colaboration iwht the next will be on alot of peoples top ten sets of eps for full metal.

I tend to favour laughs so I prefer the ep with the most laughs..... the miniskirt ep......... wow that one I can watch over and over again its just crazy!!!!! dog with hands up, picture of daughter!!!!! man... it was the best....

Probably because from episode 14 onwards it had a different Opening and Ending theme?, Doesn't make it a seperate season but it is a certain " Section " of episodes.

Yeah, that's what I meant -- cause of the new opening/ending. I shoulda just said 1-13, because it would probably have been less confusing.

And I also agree with the ep. 7 comments. It's not my favorite, but it's definitely the most emotional one and it is a major influence on Ed and Al's actions in the future.

I have to agree, Al just saying "hey wait" to scar really knocked me off my seat thats a dangerous alchemy hating killer you're asking so friendly to wait. But that's definitely how al is.

episode 13 is definitely my favorite. I couldn't stop playing it over and over and over! XD I LOVE THE DOG!!! and god Roy is just so funny in there XD ah ha ha ha "inu... iine!" ah ha ha "human's slave!" XD

episode 7 is my favourite because even if i liked every episodes so far the one that stays on my mind is number 7 but i' m pretty sure that in a short amount of time my answer will be episode 22!
