Hrm no, I'm not talking about the Opening or Ending songs, but there is a sweet song near the end, I don't remember exactly when though, probably when Barry torments Al about not beeing real. It has some sort of chorus with children, I would really love if someone could tell me what that song is ? I found it really nice so please, help me out !

Oh and Hi !

I know what song you're talking about. I'm pretty sure it's been played in plenty of others. Problem is, I have no idea what the title is. We'll see when the OST comes out.

Sorry!

You're right; it was in the end of episode 2 as well. Blah, looks like we'll just have to wait for BGM soundtrack. :(

Edit: Okay, I did some research, and this (http://www.sonymusic.co.jp/Animation/hagaren/video/ost01.html) is what I found.

Track 32 is probably the background music we're looking for...it certainly doesn't sound English to me, so it might be Russian perhaps? ^^;;

Track 9...LMAO!!
"Pea-sized Alchemist"...hahahahahahahahahahahahaha...
That's what most of the Chinese / Japanese forums call Edward... they simply refer to him as "bean (pea)"...and to see the soundtrack coincidentally name him the same way...XD

Longinus
2004-03-04, 23:05
That does look like russian, but then I can't seem to translate it with babelfish XD

it translates as "vtbfshs".... :hmm:

but a quick search of the russian text in google and a few cross reference I've come to the conclusion that the text literally means "Brothers".

Makes sense since the FMA production team went to Russia to record the music with a full Russian orchestra.

This song is in Russian ... I coudln't find it either ... but it has some really fitting lyrics (the girl says something like "older brother please don't cry") ... we see Ed sitting there all in despair ... I wish everyone could understand it, it would make the scene more powerful. It's a shame I don't get any access to russian folksongs, but if i find this I'll post a link.

Edit: The song is saying: "please don't cry and despair older brother, it was not solely your fault, we all have one road..."

It seems the song was written to fit the story.

ya.. that is right.. i got tt soundtrack :) track 32 is the soundtrack of that nice sad background russian music... its title is "БРАТЬЯ", means "brothers". With the harp and the kids singing, it really matches the story of the Elric brothers.

got the song, very nice, but not as great as I have expected. I guess it just fit the anime scenes so well that it feels better when watching the anime... also I guess now it's no longer an ambient background song, it's more obvious that how bad the singer is with Russian words... :p

well. they are just kids.. cant expect them to sing like a pro.... anyway though the singing is not very good, the lyrics are very nice and touching

direct translated lyrics:
Forgive me, the younger brother!
I so pred you am guilty.
To try to return it is impossible
That the ground has taken.

Who knows the law of Life,
Would help me to find the answer.
Severely I was mistaken:
From death of a medicine is not present.

Lovely mum! Gentle!
We so loved you.
But all our forces/efforts
Have been spent in vain.

To be puzzled by our strong hope
Dream to return to our family .
My brother, I in all is guilty.

Do not cry, not despair, big brother!
Not you nor I is guilty.
It is dear at us one,
Let's expiate fault to the bottom.

I have nothing you to reproach
Beacsue it is not offended at all.
It is all our sin
To want to be the strongest.

Lovely mum! Gentle!
We so loved you.
But all our forces
Have been spent in vain.

To be puzzled by our strong hope
To return our family .
My brother, I in all is guilty.

But what to us to do how to be?
How all to correct, forget?
To try to return it is impossible
That the ground has taken.

There will most likely be at least another one, seeing how at episode 26 there will be a new OP and a new ED. They will need to put in the current (pre-ep 26) OP & ED songs plus a variety of Background Scores that's come up since this OST.

Man, I never thought Crystal Kay would do an anime theme song. But I thought this about Namie Amuro and Ayumi Hamasaki as well.

I guess they have access to all the top Japanese artists. All we need now is a Utada Hikaru intro.

I'm not sure if i'm supposed to post this in the Music forum, but i figure I'd try my luck in the FMA forum first.

At the end of episode 21 of Fullmetal Alchemist, a song is played while Edward explains to Slicer why he must believe his brother is still human, and while Barry the Chopper tries to convince Alphonse that his existence and his brother's love is fake. I believe the song is called "Brother" in the soundtrack. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knows or can point me to the language and english translation of the song. It's so damned moving, especially considering how it fit in with the anime.

Please help this hapless aficionado! Thanks :)

Well, as the final episode party is going on (or bittersweet whatever x_x), I need to ask a question that's really been bugging me.

There was very haunting BGM that was played a lot in the final episodes, and I need to know if it was on the Anime OST. It played it "The One who left her heart to rot" (I think, 45, 46) when
Hohenheim entered the Gate and said "It'll be alright, Tri........they are your children"
and also in episode 49 whenafter entering the Underground City (where the 'Ishbal' BGM was played), Ed entered the opera house and saw Rose dancing

It's a haunting violin piece, brooding and very dark, and it's been playing in a loop over and over in my head. Arg, bringing my mood down XP Does anyone know the name of it?

And -without- spoiling anything perferably, the final scenes of the final episode of FMA aren't played out over some grand BGM or powerful vocal ballad, are they? I didn't think so xP

EDIT: I'm so stupid. I didn't see that earlier thread referring to "the song played in Dante's mansion", if it is the same, then the mods can close this I guess and I promise I'll learn my lesson next time ;_;

Hey, well for those of you who have watched Episode 51, you heard the classical music (piano) that was played just as Hawkeye is mourning over Roy Mustang and plays through the part when Envy is inside the gate.

Well, does anyone know the title/artist of this classical theme? Sorry, just that I do not know anything about classical music and musicians (cept the obvious: Beethoven, Bach, etc) and well I would really appreciate it if someone can tell me the title to that classical music theme song. And/or also, the musician that plays it.

Thanks

I don't really know Japanese but amazon japan supports English, and knowing some Kenji helps me locate the sheet music book.

If you guys are interested, definitely check this out. Shipping is quite expensive though, like 1500 yen for the 1500 yen book. But even with economy, I got it in like 5 days after shipping, so it's not too bad.

Well, I do have the original russian lyrics, although I suppose I would have to scan them or write them down into the computer, because they are in the ost cd. So If somebody does want me to go through the trouble just contact me personaly. And by the way the title is read Bratia(ブラチア)which means brothers I suppose. I heared the translation when I asked my mom to tell me what it's about, and I think that If translated well it IS lovely.

Btw, I'm new to this forum! I need buddies and tips and things. ^_^

Its a very, sad, solem, gothic piece that plays usually when The Gate or some horrible secret is unveiled during the show. It has this great low choir to it as well. Any know the name of it from the official soundtrack?

Hey! Does anyone know where I can get the music from the opening theme to FMA, the one where everyone looks pretty sad, the one Colonel Mustang sitting with his scotch and stuff, gazing out his window, contemplating... A preferably legal version would be nice! I can't find it anywhere and I'm in love with that theme.:)

I have both of those songs, i think you mean mortality and/or homunculus, I am also looking for a song that fits the description, its was played when dante recollects about how hoenheim and her made the first philosopher stone.

Its a variation of butou except it has the same kind of format of mortality.

What is the song that plays anytime that ed fights a homuculus like in episode 37 when he is fighting sloth also played in the most recent episode 49 when ed fights dante it plays there too it sounds like a battle theme just wanted to know the name of it and which soundtrack it is on.

I know one of the songs from when they showed the gate. I'm not sure what it's called but it's the 23rd song in the 3rd OST. It's a piano solo. It plays on the last episode . It starts when Riza finds Roy hurt and she's crying over him because she thinks he's dead. It shows Ed at the gate and Envy appears. Envy opens the gate and goes in to find Hoinhime of light ( sorry can't spell it) It ends when tears fall down his cheeks and his soal fades back into his body and he wakes up. It's a real sad but simple song.

I'm trying to find the name of the song played in Dante's manison when she is reminiscing about her and Hoenheim. It kinda sounds like the singer is singing "Hoenheim" and she vocalizes "whoa whoa whoa." It's kinda haunting and I can't find it anywhere.

EDIT: I'm such an idiot. I'm sorry. I found it. For anybody else who wants to know what it's called it's called Dante (duh.) PM me if you want me to tell you where to d/l it.

It's off the 3rd FMA soundtrack. Track no 8, called Koukai, which in my dictionary is either voyage or regret. My guess would probably be regret, seeing what happens in that scene.
Hope that's what you wanted =^-^=

Sorry that I must "dig out" this thread, but I need your help:

Can you please tell me the name of the song at Episode 48 (Goodbye/Sayonara) from 14:08 till 14:43 (at the pub with Roy Mustang and an architect). And if the song is a "classical music" (I suppose) please tell me the name of the composer, too.

Many Thanks

PS I figured out it himself. It isn't a classical music. It is from Michiru Ooshima. It calls "Kenran". It is from the 2nd OST, track-number 23.

As announced in this forum, the Fullmetal Alchemist forum has been retired. This is just a natural part of a forum's lifespan. It has been a while since the new episodes of the show were aired. Over the time since then, the show has seen a great reduction of posting and attention. As a result, it is no longer meaningful to have a gadzillion threads to discuss the show.

This thread is one of the few remaining where discussion can still be posted. By concentrating discussion into a few threads it may be possible to actually have a semblance of interaction once more. Please continue to show Fullmetal Alchemist your enjoyment interest in these threads.

Personaly, I love the opening song of FMA and the ending theme as well. This series had some really awesome music and stuff like that can really set apart certain anime series from others, it's all about modd baby! The opening theme pumps me up when I am hitting my punching bag and the ending theme is a cool head bobbing theme, very nice.

PS: The girl singing the ending theme sounds cute, anyone ever see a pic of her?

Whats so special about FMA OST ?
I personally can count anime with actually memorable OSTs with fingers on one hand. Let me see...Azumanga, Berserk, Gundam00, Naruto, Noir, Hellsing TV, Twelve Kingdoms. Okay, so thats seven, whatever, cant remember a single other show with more than a couple good pieces in what is otherwise just a serviceable OST. Yes, Youko Kanno and the rest of them included.

Regarding Sid - Uso, got my hands on entire track. It really sounds awesome but the band needs an image change being a pop band . IMO the image they are trying to project doesn't suit there music.

Only about the appearance. no matter else.

The appearance of the V-Kei band doesn't always reflect their style of music.

Hello everyone! I just finished watching FMA, such an amazing series! :D

BUT... I'm missing a few songs... for the life of me I can't find a couple of songs in the OSTs I've downloaded.

I'm after these, if anyone knows:

Episode 51 (final)
1. The song when Envy goes through the gate and turns into the dragon
2. The final song at the end during which Alphonse and Edward are on trains in their respective worlds and raise their arms in the sky.. quite epic!
3. Any alternate versions of these songs? Like instrumentals elsewhere? Kinda like how Bratja, Tsuisou, Kyoudai are all the same song but slightly different.

If anyone can tell me, that'd be sick!
Thanks!

1. Augh don't remind me. But uh yeah the song would be "Wakare no Kyoku (Piano Solo)" and it's #22 in the 3rd OST.
2. Very first song in the very first OST, IIRC. "Kiro"
3. There's the normal version of "Wakare no Kyoku", it's #26 in OST 3.

LOL at dragon!Envy...

I'm not sure #2 is correct. It does appear to pretty much be the same song, but the tempo (and just the tempo) in the aired version is noticeably faster than in the soundtrack. I've skimmed back through all three soundtracks and there are no similar songs. The aired version is probably just an unpublished variation.

Fifth Laboratory was one of the songs I was looking forward to the most and I'm glad it's there, but man there's still a bunch of other songs I wanted to hear that didn't make it.

Thankfully there's other great songs to make up for it, like Beyond the Walls, which is truly epic.

Also, Lurking is the worst song ever, really hated it everytime it played on the show.

Overall the OST is quite good though. Even though I thought the music placement for this series was somewhat pathetic at first, the pieces themselves have definitely been top notch and this OST proves it.

Now if only we could get that song that played in episode 24 where Selim gives his speech and episode 26 during Bradley's flashback. I was really looking forward to that one.

I agree 100%. His score's hit all the right notes for me, and is quite an apt representation of the series as a whole. He really is an excellent composer; it's great to see him back doing anime compositions after a three-year hiatus. Of particular note is the fact that Senju's first anime score was for the charming Sunrise show Mama wa Shōgaku Yonensei (http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%83%9E%E3%83%9E%E3%81%AF%E5%B0%8F%E5%AD%A64%E5% B9%B4%E7%94%9F). We'll also see more of his work in the coming years; he recently composed the score to Sunrise's film adaptation of Tales of Vesperia (http://www.tov-movie.net/).

I don't think it'll be coming out anytime soon... They don't have any new music to put in the thing. Haven't you noticed that there hasn't been any new music that isn't in the first OST other than that piece that came out when Roy fought Lust?

Actually the song at the beggining of episode 26, during the Ed & Ling vs Envy fight, wasn't on the first OST either.

Same for the ominous song that played when Ed dug up the result of his human transmutation, Selim's speech, Bradley's flashback, etc.

But your point still stands of course. There definitely isn't enough music for a second OST yet.

In short I basically made a Rock Band custom for Ready Steady Go. I was also thinking of doing Again - YUI sometime down the road, but I guess I'll ask for suggestions if there's another Brotherhood OP/ED that's better suited for RB-- although I'm definitely leaning towards Again just because it's such an awesome song.

The short story is that Rock Band is getting ready to implement this network where indie bands can author and playtest RB songs for their own music and submit them for download to promote themselves, so the tools to develop your own RB songs are available and I'm just using them to make anime songs 'cause I'm a geek.

Ohh gotcha.

I was jw cause my brother has RB1 and 2, we play it all the time together, plus he loves FMA as much as I do and I've never seen him do something like that before.

Can anyone help me identify a music theme, it played during battle between Wrath (King Bradley) and Lin Yao at beginning of episode 22.

Does anyone knows how its called and whether or not its on 1st OST or maybe on some singles?

Akira Senju has been seriously lazy with Brotherhood, though. It's not that the tracks he's already made are bad, it's just that it's not enough for a series like FMA.

The only new tracks I can really think of from the last ~20 episodes are:
#1: The theme that plays when Roy kills Lust (also has bene used in a few other places since then)
#2: The theme that plays when Ed remembers Nina as he and Ling are fighting Envy (also plays when Kimblee jumps onto Scar's train).
#3: The music that plays when Envy does his transformation (also was used when Sloth was pushed into the elevator, when Ed told Scar about Father + Co being responsible for Ishval, and in several episode previews.)
#4: The music that plays at the end of the episode with mustang seeing the central command, and with Ed waking up in the fake gate. (May actually be part of the same track as #3)
#5: the 20-30 second music that plays when Gluttony goes berserk and breaks free when he hears Mustang.
#6: The music that plays when Winry faces scar for the first time.

There's no excuse for this shit. What's there is good, but the impact of several of the tracks is lost because they're used in a dozen different memorable scenes each. All of the tracks I've listed were first introduced between episodes 19-26ish.
We didn't even get new background music for briggs, or a new track for Pride's reveal. I've never seen a series with so much variety get such little music output. Come the fuck on.

Olivier's CMoA (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/CrowningMoment/FullmetalAlchemist) with Raven got some new music.

And it may not entirely be Senju's fault. Is he the Music Director, or is he just composing the songs? If it's the former, then yeah, it's largely his fault. If it's the latter, he's doing good work, but the production/directorial team is wasting their resource.

oh wow i'm actually shocked. i was pretty upset when i heard chemistry was going to do the OP (only because they're pretty low-tempo & i hated the 4th OP they did for GSEED Destiny).

it's not that bad, it has some soft-rock feel which more than suffices and it's catchy. i can't wait to see the accompanying visuals.

They are indeed. I like both of the songs and the visuals are great, even for the ED! I'm surprised that they have fighting scenes in the ED, and I'm not complaining :D

My only complaint is that Roy's not even in the OP. Ah, well, I guess that makes sense, since he doesn't have much of a role in this part of the story.

Little random tidbit. Two of the composers that are listed in the 4th opening, Jonas Myrin and Peter Kvint, are both swedish. Jonas Myrin, who moved from his home country to the UK at some point, apparently has a bit of history and has worked with a number of people in the past. This guy apparently likes to travel, if his Myspace (http://www.myspace.com/jonasmyrinmusic?/) entry is leading me to believe.

if there's one thing that has been disappointing about Brotherhood, it's the music, or rather, the lack thereof. You can't make 30 tracks and call it a day for a 5 season series.

I adore the score, especially seeing as though Senju Akira is one of my all time favorite composers, though i just don't like how the score is being handled. The music placement for the series can be pretty bad sometimes, though saying that it's been decent for some key scenes.

As for the amount of tracks, i've watched a 50 episode show before (Eureka Seven for example), and that only had two soundtracks released for it, so it can be done. It's such a shame here that they keep repeating a few certain tracks over and over.

True: There are probably 6-10 tracks that have been used only a handful of times in the series. The rest have been used over and over and over again.

But the problem of using some music too few times wouldn't exist if more songs were made. The first FMA anime had triple or quadruple the sound output.

Though like i said, Eureka Seven only had two soundtracks, and that didn't reuse it's pieces that much. It just comes down to how well music placement can be handled.

You talking about the piano version of Lapis Philosophorum (original is on Brotherhood OST1, track #27)? I can't remember any place I've heard it yet in-series, but it may just be a piano version of Lapis Philosophorum, made for the OST. The original series had a couple of non-standard versions of songs on the OSTs that never made it to the series, and the original Lapis Philosophorum is 12 kinds of badass...

Thanks! ^_^

The OP is pretty good, but I like the action sequences from the previous ones better. The song itself picks up towards the end, but Hologram & Period are still better in my opinion, maybe Yui as well.

I'm not too impressed with the ED, since Let It Out and Tsunaida Te were so phenominal. I liked Shunkan Sentimental and Uso better as well.

The music in this series was really extraordinary overall, so I'm a bit disappointed they didn't have bands like L'Arc en Ciel or Asian Kung-Fu Generation return for the final OP/ED.

I don't really like the new OP and ED .. the melancholy all over the intro doesn't fit how hyper I am to watch all the upcoming action. I found the crying rather misplaced, but whatever. Might also just be, because I don't really like the song too much XD
Wrath looked badass, though.

When the transition to the outro began, I thought I would like it, because that sounded really good, but the ED song is also just ok for me.

They're ok, but I can't say I like them. But that's my opinion of most of the OPs and EDs :uhoh: Jmusic is always hit and miss with me, but aside from my music taste, I also would have liked other sequences. The clip show looks rather lame in comparison to the last ED for example. And the opening is just too slow imo.

I don't see the OP as spoilerific as most of you guys. I wouldn't have catched a single one if I hadn't read the manga :heh: Specially, since in the first openings there were mostly things that never happened anyway. The hidden references are bonuses for the manga readers I'd guess.

Is that the last batch of opening and ending we get?
