So watched ep 1 .
Well , I didn't remember very well the first season .
So Matsu , Miya and Kazehana was in the 1st Generation (at the beginning) and Miya's husband too right ? (who is the guy at the beg too i guess)
Matsu and Kazehana didn't found their Akashibi yet until Minato .
Miya's akashibi is her husband .
And Kurasaba we don't know yet .
Do we know how many Sekirei are left ?
Not many, but you will see it soon enough if they follow manga even losely.

As someone who is a fan of the manga and liked the first season, I'm looking forward to the rest of Pure Engagement. The opener was about average, but I guess it was just something to introduce the second season while bridging the first.
Hopefully, I'll see more of Uzume's story because hers is the most intriguing to me, not to mention she's my favorite Sekirei.

They haven't put it up yet. There is a notice about a few series launching on their website this Thursday, but time will tell. Should be soonish, though.

Episode 1 was pretty good. seemed an ok transition from series one to this series, I imagine it was a great refresher for those who hadn't seen the first series since it aired.

I wonder how long we have till they start overlaying commercials that take up 1/4 of the screen.

Its part censored, part not ...
For example, the bathing scene for Benitsubasa, Haihane and Karasuba is censored.. the mysterious steam is there, yet the Minato and Musubi bathing scene isnt.
Was the first season censored? I do recall a scene where one of them was naked.

A good portion of it was, I do remember a few scenes that somehow got away from that silly bath steam :heh: But yes it was censored for the most part.
For example, the bathing scene for Benitsubasa, Haihane and Karasuba is censored.. the mysterious steam is there, yet the Minato and Musubi bathing scene isnt.
Yeah cuz Benitsubasa and Karasuba-sama are so huge compared to Musubi :heh: A very odd scene to cover up.
I think they have very limited fog.. Since they used up all of it for those 3.. there arent any left for the Musubi's scene.. And besides, I dont think those 3 can add up to the volume for Musubi :heh:

Episode 01 was.... good enough for a half introduction, half resumption. But now I want to see which part of the story will they work on. Oh, the racks er I mean suspense:heh: is killing me! (I'm just glad to be a part of Sekirei's broadcast run after having missed S1)
By the way I think my favorite girl is the Imouto, please let there be more of her >_______> (I say "I think" because.... never mind:heh:)

Does this mean I have to re-read the manga? :heh: (I didn't remember Kuu as the imouto, I think what made me think that way was that if her brother was her brother, that would make all the sekirei siblings, or something). But yeah, my mind defaulted to "Imouto= Yukari".

I loved how it opened with Kazehana over Minato's bed blushing at him :heh: I also liked how she asked about his father.
I liked how they were picturing Yukari and Shiina :heh: Interesting how when Uzume got up from the table only Matsu noticed.
Im glad it didnt take long for them to get back into fighting.
Omg Kuuchan on the phone was hilarious!
WTF NO KAGARI??? Ok Karasuba-sama's last minute appearance kinda made up for it.

Yeah, definitely seems like this is the alternate scenario for Kazehana's winging given how Season 1 ended. I also loved Ku-chan on the phone and Kazehana also hanging up on Benitsubasa when she tried calling back again. XD Makes you feel bad for her a bit.
Though, they make Benitsubasa seem like she wanted in on Minato too with how they went about things; grabbing him and yanking him into a dark alley, knocking him out, tying him up, and taking him to a large, pretty much empty room (on a tanker)...yeah, lol. :heh:

Kuu is pretty funny in this one. Actually, she's also funny in episode 1 when she gets jealous of Minato and Musubi making dinner together. She's like a little, childish Tsukiumi in the making.
Kuu on the phone is hilarious.
When Benitsubasa asks for the "girl with the big breasts", Kuu for the life of her couldn't figure out whom she's referring to. Tsukiumi, Matsu, Kazehana or Musubi...? Poor girl gets so confused. :heh:
As for the preview of episode 3, it's almost hard to believe that Kazehana gets beaten around like that, when she's one of the most powerful sekirei in the city we've seen so far. I guess Haihane will be keeping Minato as their hostage while Benitsubasa does the fighting.

And altho this episode is tame, there are censorships going on cleverly in some scenes.

Not necessarily. I've seen quite a number of adaptations where the author had nothing to do with the filler material, and yet the content was much like what you'd find in the source material. It's all down to clever writing. :)

Well, I know... I just found it hard to believe that the anime would show something like that. Oh Kazehana... :heh: Yukana wins hard with her portrayal of the character. Her portrayal of Tear and Kazehana are probably my top favourites in her line of characters so far.
When Benitsubasa mentions the number "88" I understand that she's referring to Musubi's sekirei number, though poor Kuu doesn't get that either. :heh:

No, I still think it is sweat. Not really denial or anything, but I'm under the impression that what you are talking about comes from between the legs and not suddenly appearing on the leg like sweat actually does. If you can explain this, then sure, I'll believe you.

Stop bursting my bubble my fantasy will be ruined :heh: Appropriate way to open the episode considering how season 1 left off. I thought Kazehana's winging in the manga was one of the hottest and happens to be one of my favorite scenes that does not involve Tsukiumi. There is only one other winging im interested in seeing how they will portray it in the anime.
sometimes filler is not such a bad thing. Watched the RAW now off to watch it subbed some i know what actually was said.
The DVD/BD needs to have an omake of people prank-calling Benitsubasa. They could make a whole filler of just that and I'd watch :heh:

Im forced to ask if you didnt like the 1st season what made you think you would like the 2nd? It was not going to change or alter that much from the original. The points you made though i disagree are Sekirei take that away and its just not. Oddly enough i dont think there are that many breast jokes in the series though majority of the characters do have large chest. Just a product of anime oh well to each his own.

Actually I was talking to an anime watcher the other day and when he responded that he didn't know what sekirei was I just said that it was similar to pokemon, but instead of pokemon their a girls with big titties, which is what the show really is about, at least in the first season. I mean yea there is some deeper things, but still even then for refrence points and for simplicity sake referring to sekirei to pokemon is probably the easiest way to do it.
If you want to generalized then you can consider any harem show can be liken to pokemon :D

Well unlike most Harems, this one actually has the guy sealing his "captures" with a kiss :heh:
But wow, really loved episode 02. First off, Kazehana in the beginning, and every time I see a girl stretching in anime, I always remember a hilarious rant someone did (I believe it was the Air thread here) about 4-5 years ago about how it was a waste of airtime. The reply to that was hilarious: "hot girl + stretching = :love:" ever since then I always think about that and laugh whenever I see a girl stretching :heh:
Ooh, Yukari-chan! Nice to finally see you.... again at the end of the ep :(:heh:
But of course the real winner of this episode, was Benitsubasa's phone calls, my god I was all LOL. I know that is an old fashioned inn, but they could have used some caller ID :heh: and be like "eh? Minato's phone being used by someone else? Call the cops!" :heh: also funny was when Kuu was all "eh? big boobies?" with the girls in the background. :heh:
Hmm.... Benitsubasa. She might have been the girl I was thinking the most about when it comes to Sekirei. I know I have a thing (http://animangatron.blogspot.com/2010/04/interview-with-mangatron-about-teruya.html) for ponytails, and if she has green hair that would've made my day. What the heck though, it's still a ponytail, and this episode just might have made her my favorite Sekirei :heh:
I'm quite glad I've read ahead in terms of this show's plot. Now there's nothing to distract me from the more important things in this show (they come in pairs).

Well, there's not much shake/judder (which is good), but after careful examination they do draw them nicely whatever the angle is. :eyespin::D

Heh I believe in two types of jiggle: the good one and the bad one. The bad one is where it just doesn't fit, it's unscientific:heh:, the kind where it just shakes for no reason at all. The good one is where it usually involves the girl engaging in vigorous movement which results in the jiggly, which ends up making perfect sense ;)

lol yea I was wondering what she was on about, then the subs tell me she wanted to watch tv, you just have to laugh cause I know everyone has at some point been like that.
Now something I gotta admit is Beni-chan was well oddly to my surprise very cute this ep.
While I like all the sekirei that have shown up so far be them cute, hawt or handsome(:p). I never really gave much thought to how Beni-chan's looks, just I liked her attitude alot more and that Shizuka Itou is her VA.
But after seeing ep 2, I found her to be really really cute in a her odd little way. Maybe its cause I jut started to really notice the flower hair clips and how her hair looks plus I think the whole phone thing adds to her charm.
Need moar lolz moments from Beni-chan!

What a fun episode. With Haihane acting all emo because she was missing her favorite TV show, the hilarious phone call between Kusano and Benitsubasa, and Kazehana acting all giddy after finding a bottle of plum liqueur in the warehouse, it definitely had its moments.
After seeing the preview, I'm looking forward to next week. Hopefully, it won't disappoint.

Wow i saw everyone talking about the Kuu on the phone it really was hilarious. When she hung up on Benitsubasa i lost it and actually had tears in my eyes. Soooooooooo damn cute its not even funny.
I must say i really did enjoy the OP with Kazehana hovering over Minato and getting totally busted. I had forgotten that she was finding it harder and harder to control herself around Minato. If Matsu or Tsukumi would have saw that chaos would have ensued instantly.
Though i normally would not use the word cute to describe Haihane her tv antics were funny as hell. She even took a break in the middle of the operation to go watch lol.
It was nice to see Minato's sister or should i say The Devil Ashikabi again. I nearly forgot about her. That kick to the ballz was terrible the guy turned to stone im pretty sure there will be no children in his future lol.
Once i noticed the pace of the episode half way through i knew werent going to see the winging I was a little disappointed about that. But we shall ourselves a nice fight in episode 3. Several key moments im anxious to see animated from the manga. I really count this as the first episode since the 1st was a recap but so far i think they are on a nice track.
Kazehana really will drink anything with Alcohol in it.:heh:

I think there is a prop-man assigned to her, throwing sakara blossom petals everytime Kazehana summons the winds. :heh:

I guess history repeats itself since I was referring to a joke that was used in "Uruse Yatsura" whenever Mendo Ryoko enters her cronies would throw rose petals, which itself was a parody of Rose of Versailles and all it's rose pedals.
I remember a scene where Ataru's mom is mumbling how troublesome it is cleaning up every time she visits their home.:heh:

Episode 2 was fun. The phone call with Kuu was hilarious, had me laughing quite out loud, I think I might have startled the neighbors. I'm liking Kazehana more and more, can't believe she drank ethanol, actually I think I can.
I am seriously laughing over Benitsubasa's losing in the phone calls. As for Ethanol drinking, or Etanol as it is on the bottle, maybe she added some water, or she's got a heck of a constitution

I think its pretty accurate as well. If she was sister i would be scared to death. Minato and his sister teaming up would make a formidable force. His sister is more like Sekirei than ashikabi

I have to ask: did Kazehana summon those flower petals the way Tsukiumi summons water, or did she bring them from somewhere to make her entrance?...."Kazehana" means "wind flower." I'm not sure, but I think the cherry-blossom petals (that's what they are, I believe) simply show up whenever she arrives with an aura of her power around her. Or she summons them as part of her power.
I enjoyed ep2 quite a bit more than I expected to. Funny, interesting, and with good seiyuu work.

What the heck though, it's still a ponytail, and this episode just might have made her my favorite Sekirei :heh:

They did Kazehana great justice in this one, and also giving some deserved screentime for the two disciplinary squad members here. Both Haihane and Benitsubasa are so cute and funny here.

First half my stream acting up, so I didnt get to watch fully, however Benitsubasa strike again when she blow her fuse after Kazehana ripped her top .. Mainly because Kazehana called her Ms. Pettanko and not to mention Minato got the full view of it :D

Karasuba didnt managed to join the fun, so she went on slaughtering a poor sekirei. Well, not really.. its OHKO :D
2nd half is the hospital scene.. it is changed a bit with Musubi tagging along taking care of Minato, compared to Tsukiumi along in the manga. Best scene here when Takami forced her to call Takami "mother" then ignoring her try :heh:
Back at the inn, some misc change scene, but they do not remove the hadaka apron scene.. so thats the most important part :D

lol, several good moments here.
Love Haihane pulling her self-stabbing gag not once, but TWICE, and once while DRUNK because of all that sake XD.
Benitsubasa also looked so cute with those tears in her eyes after her top gets cut open a bit.
And, of course, the naked apron! God, Kazehana was so sexy XD. Though, Miya's interrupting spoon whack was good too. :heh:

Well, I have no idea about the manga, but ep3 stood on its own very well, for me. Plot, characters, relationships, animation, fanservice, and voices. All highly enjoyable.
I think the third episode transitions well back into the plot of the manga. I actually like the differences, and I'm sure there will be a few more as we advance further in the series.
Now, that's what I call a winging. Kazehana's winging in the anime is handled better in the anime than in the manga. Minato goes out of his way to protect her, bleeds for it, and wins the girl in the end. Having Kazehana and Minato do the winging within the eye of the storm is a nice, dramatic deviation from the manga, and the moment they share afterwards is quite touching as well. Tsukiumi however, thinks differently. :heh:
Speaking of Tsukiumi, the anime has a few good scenes for her too. As she and Musibi were moving towards Minato's destination, Musubi takes note that Tsukiumi is much faster than usual, even faster than when they were playing their grocery racing game. So yes Tsukiumi, you have what it takes to win! One of these days maybe.
Then, there is of course Takami having fun at Tsukiumi's expense, which once again shows Tsukiumi having those funny facial expressions. :p
One thing I'm still wondering about is why Karasuba is obssessed with fighting Musubi/Yume. What exactly went on between Yume and Karasuba? I mean, if all Karasuba wants is an epic fight to the finish, then she should've fought Miya a long time ago.

Chances are, Karasuba's obviously a fighting maniac. So she's likely to want to go against strong characters. But Yume disappearance probably robbed her of her chance. Since Yume's 'reappeared', she's eager for the chance she thought she missed

eh the last scene in the anime really doesn't compare well to the manga, you don't see the sister stuff, and the attempted unwinging is less impactful in the anime. Overall the comedy is on the level of pokemon slapstick which is dissappointing and also sometimes the characters feel really hamm fisted. I know the manga is pretty beat you over the head style of story telling but this is very much so even more than the manga.

Miya may be out of the game, but when Karasuba appeared in front of her back in season one, Miya was more than ready to face her... except that she didn't have her sword with her, not to mention Karasuba backed off.
The reason why Kazehana was holding out and not getting herself winged despite being drawn to Minato due to his resemblance was to see what kind of a person he truly is, and because she still had some lingering feelings for her first love.
After the whole incident in the warehouse, she realizes that she finally wants to be winged by Minato. The warmth that flows into her during the entire process takes out all that hesitation and lingering old feelings away, and she finally declares Minato as her new love. Still, that doesn't necessarily mean that she has totally forgotten her past love, nor is her resentment towards Takami forgotten just like that.
What I want to see is an extensive conversation between the two women. Takami meets the woman who was in love with the father of her children, and who is now with her son. That would be ripe for some good comedy and somewhat awkward.
Karasuba may have lost interest in the current Miya, likely a shadow of her former self (battle-wise).

ep 3 went along as i suspected. AO Kazehana arc to fix the mistakes they made at the end of season 1 to get the story back on track with the manga. Too bad they sorta left out a minor detail that becomes important later on. Which was he was supposed to have broken ribs that were to be treated by a new experimental drug that his mother develops.

Well, I decide to rewatch season 1 before starting to watch pure engagement. And now I'm caught up.
This kidnapping arc was actually quite a bit of fun. I do think Kazehana was handled better in the anime. We got a very nice mix of comedy and action and Minato has learned the truth about his mother. All in all, a great start to this season.
I love how Karasuba is such a classic case of the axe crazy trope. That face she made and the way the VA talked, perfect.
Poor Benitsubasa, I'd want her to be my Sekirei. Can someone make an Avatar of when she was tearing up about minato seeing her breast? Such a cute face! Plus, shes got a cruel side thats perfect for terrorizing your enemy. >: )

I think its the exact opposite. Kazehana gets the spotlight in this mini arc and Minato was willing to put his life on the line to protect her. Plus, I got to see more Benitsubasa which clearly makes it superior.

In the anime, he goes out of his way to protect her even when he's not expecting to wing her.

Actually, that's what makes the anime version quite respectable: it's not a clear degradation of the manga version. It managed to keep most of the characterization intact, and somehow kept some of the mood of the manga version still in play.
I like the manga version primarily because of how it meshed with the bridge arc. I didn't like the bridge arc of the anime.

I just found that the adaptation of the bridge arc wasn't as good as it could have been, compared to how well the series was doing upto then. That might be what tzia_n thinks as well.
Though i'm glad this second season is off to a great start with solid anime original material which ties in the main story rather well. I wonder if we'll see more of that down the line.

well technically she was all mopey eyed when minato was traped under the girders which didn't change the ships structural integrity at all. I still find it in bad taste that they had to make her look so weak. I mean when he wings her in the manga, it's great, because the whole, "he cries for us, he loves us" bit isn't directed at her, and his chivalry for all sekirei is what allures her to him. Anyway I understand they need material but it's just dissappointing that the single digit sekirei whom are supposed to possess some sort of extra power end up to be so weak.

Uhm, I thought one of the main points about winging was that they become stronger afterwards? Especially when we consider it was a 2 against 1 for the most part, it makes sense for them to evenly match a single number. Of course it also makes sense for the single number to turn the tide of 2 against 1 after the winging. At least how I saw it.
But anyways, loved this ep if mainly for the Benitsubasa. Don't worry girl, you're plenty well endowed in my book ;) Oh, she just did a Musubi right there, fighting with one hand while the other hides her breasts :heh:
And yeah, I had that same Team Rocket moment others had as well :D (my my, how I chuckle to myself when I say "it's been more than a decade since their first blast off" :heh:)
Probably just a case of having bad luck. Kazehana was also busy protecting Minato, so there must have been some considerations made on what she can, or cannot do in that situation. Fighting inside a warehouse filled with bottles of sake is also something to take note of.
All Haihane needed was one lucky hit, but before that happened Kazehana was practically playing with them.

It's official: Benitsubasa and Haihane are the best Manzai team. And I think Haihane is freaking adorable, especially the drunk Haihane. Benitsubasa was cute as well, but Haihane was soooo cute.
Hahaha, I was really laughing my ass off over Haihane's antics. Minato was really skilled with that bottle, but Haihane's subsequent action made it even better.
As for Tsukiumi avatars... sorry, Francis, but can request the one where Tsukiumi's biting her nail? It's cute enough that even Minato was reacting to it.

Episode 3 was great. Great action and comedy. And kazehana is win, what a great addition to one of the best harems out there.
There probably aren't many people here who need it as much as I do, but I've made a characters/seiyuus page (http://hashihime.atspace.com/etc/2010/sekirei%20pe/charsei.html) for this show. It gives pics of 26 characters and their seiyuus, with a bit of info to identify both character and seiyuu.
I let the first series slide, and never did really grasp who was who beyond the main 7-8 characters. I've enjoyed the first three eps of this enough, however, to want to get things straighter. You can get a lot more info from the Wikipedia page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sekirei), and especially from Wikipedia's characters page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Sekirei_characters).I sure do need it. I recognize the voices but don't know the names or where they are from (except for a minor few).
I think its the exact opposite. Kazehana gets the spotlight in this mini arc and Minato was willing to put his life on the line to protect her. Plus, I got to see more Benitsubasa which clearly makes it superior.
Did I mention I love Benitsubasa? :DBenitsubasa was awesome. Itou Shizuka did really great with her. I love when she gets all frustrated. :heh:

Episode 3 was really good. First off Haihane stabbing herself in her head, twice, was hilarious. Also the call back to her recording her show was kind of funny too. Kazehana officially joining the team/harem/collection is awesome. Hmm I bet there's a story there on why Minato's mom and Homura look so much alike, but I'm sure we'll find that out eventually

yeah i didnt like how they tried to force everyone in at the end, also hated how they made tsu lose to the Dsquad when she was supposed to kick some ass.

I finally caught up with this anime, and there's a disturbing lack of Kazehana avatars and sigs. For old times sake I made a new one and another up for grabs:

Unfortunately I couldn't make an animated avatar of the apron shot due to how the camera moves, so I just made a simple cut and paste of one of the frames:

ah Seo i miss him and his twin hottie Sekirei and yes i think its been established that hes most def getting down with Sekirei. Weve seen how Sekirei react to their Ashikabi its over whelming burning sensation like they cant control themselves. Just look how Kazehana reacts to Minato. On Seo sure you partake the goods but these girls are worse than Tsukimi in the jealousy scale so no extra Seikirei for you.
haha really enjoyed the ep, but the homera arc is pretty good to begin with.
Also after watchin the op a few times, i am sort of afraid of them ending the series with AO cus you see musubi fighting the black sekirei. Hope they dont go that route as i would love to see another season down the road.
I think you are right. we will go for AO ending as there would be a plot point which will collide with the discipline squad once again in the manga.
Altho after that, we will have to wait quite a while unless the author had an influx of idea on how to advance the story as if that point was chosen for the ending, we will have little to none manga material for a complete 3rd season as it is now.
well the manga is still far ahead. it will take another few eps to finish the homera arc. Then they have to do the history of the dsquad, and after that are some of the battle royal fights. I think there was enough material to do a full season without AO content. But.. the writer has been bad at releasing to characters for the past 8 months, we have basically been getting only about 16 pages per month.
oh well nothing ya can do besides sit back and enjoy the ride

Dunno how Homura would be experimental. His power doesn't seem to be a reason as it's just another one of the 4 big elements like Tsukiumi, Kazehana, and Mutsu have (Water, Wind, and Earth). Maybe because of how uncontrollable fire is...who knows?

Let's just say Benitsubasa has an uphill challenge to climb.
Also, one of the reasons why Tsukiumi didn't want to be winged was because she didn't want to be taken over by an ashikabi.
I think it's a given that Seo sleeps with Hikari and Hibiki. Two possessive women and a man sleeping on the same bed in varied states of undress? I don't think it should be a mystery. But I guess one can think of it in another way if one so chooses. Minato's sekirei can't really do anything of that sort with him due to Miya, not to mention that they're all competing for him, but Seo is independent (and broke), and his sekirei are sisters who get along. The problem is, they keep a short leash on him. :heh:
The other side of this, is that sekirei can be practically slaves towards unwanted ashikabi that have winged them. An ashikabi can exert influence even to sekirei who aren't drawn to them as long as they've been winged. In season one, Mikogami sends his sekirei in order to acquire Kuu. Had Minato not intervened, Mikogami would have had Kuu's powers at his disposal. Seo is a special case, as his ashikabi power was granted to him by Takehito, and with it he can even disable or prevent unwinged sekirei from going against him. He uses this ability to stop Tsukiumi in order to coax Minato to be assertive, all the way back in season one.

Well, who knows..? Maybe Natsuo has some redeeming quality that got Karasuba in his group, but there's something else... something which is related to Benitsubasa and her pursuit for Natsuo (and Haihane for that matter).
The thing is, the anime hasn't even mentioned this, unlike the manga, and it's just a couple of lines which explains Natsuo a bit more. At least that's how I remember the first season.

Queens Blade! lol That was a blast. Though there is a part on the DVD that kinda censors it more on Melona's part...the transparent water.

Well with episode 4 this series continues to be amazing. The scenes with Homura were really funny. I also absolutely love that noise Kuu makes when she's angry/jealous
I wish Minato will be like Seo , he know how to be a "good" male lead :D
