I'd stay skeptical. After all, the Wiki probably got its information off of ONM.
I'd hope this was true for what Namco Bandai did with the European release of Dawn of the New World.
I know it was released later, but we did get extra goodies to make up for it. In fact, some goodies are things that I'd have expected to be in the game from the start, like a skit player.

I won't get my hopes up, ToV pretty much woke me from a delusional dream.
NA may be unlikely, then again... they had ripped two PM's from the character roster, and intend to place them later on, referring them as 'new' on a opposing system. Sort've like the forementioned ToV
...Only tales games I play nowadays are the older ones, TotA and ToS. ToG is a pipedream for Na... or may be, depending.
Namco Bandai seriously did a self-afflicting wound when they pulled that stunt with ToV, oh well... Doesn't matter, ToG seems more likely to be a ToR -- remaining in JP.

Hi.
Where can I find the Tales of Graces with bug fixes version for download?
I bought my copy in play-asia on release day... I don't want to buy other copy... >_<
Thanks....

It's illegal to ask for downloads, especially pirated downloads... you're asking for a Ban.

Oh wow:
http://kotaku.com/5477866/tales-of-graces-recalled
That took them long enough. I'm guessing that importers are out of luck, though.
I can't stop hoping the summer release date for Europe is true. It's probably not, considering Tales games are usually released only when a year has passed after their US release (if at all), but I can hope.

It's highly unlikely, I mean for Europe the games script needs translating a number of times. Maybe even a load of different language voice overs as well.
I strongly doubt that they'd bother doing voice acting for languages other than English for Europe. There's little financial incentive for such a big investment.
Except that some countries over here dub everything. It's one of the reasons things get delayed so often, if they are brought over at all (we still don't have Abyss or Legendia, for example).
I hope the next Tales game comes out on the PS3. That way I can just import the US version. Bloody region coding, why don't they realize- *gets dragged off before going on another region code rant*
I know some countries dub everything. *looks at France* But when it comes to video games? Not that often.
didn't the EU-only PSP port of Tales of Eternia only have English voices?
Looks like Namco finally realized where the fanbase is.

I won't hold out hope for a localization, but it'd be nice. Plus, that'd mean extra space on the disc for Japanese voices if it does, maybe?
Moreover, I find this hilarious because of Tales of Vesperia.

I'm not holding my breath. :/ Suppose I should be glad, but for some odd reason, I find it difficult.
Sounds like a repeat of what happened with Tales of Symphonia. It was first released on the GameCube, sold very well outside of Japan, but the Japanese kept whining for it to be released on the PS2. This made sense because the GameCube wasn't that popular in Japan.
But I don't get it this time. The Wii is very popular in Japan. The Xbox 360 isn't, which explains Tales of Vesperia's port to the PS3. But this? Weird.
At any rate, don't kid yourselves about Namco finding out where the US fan base supposedly is. They don't care.

PS3 DLC systems is much securer than the one used by the Wii, expect it to become Tales of DLC.
Awesome now i have to buy it a third time, hopefully non of them will be ported to the west.

Considering the chances of PS3 Graces getting localized is like 0.1% what made you think I was talking about America?

Might have something to do with a port of Versperia selling a lot more than a brand new Tales game, even though that game was on a system that has twice the userbase. Hence the comment about Namco realizing where the Tales fanbase is (not the wii) since Grace is getting ported to Ps3 and more than likely the next Team Symphonia (the ps3 tales should be by them) game being an exclusive.
Didn't 360 Vesperia sell about the same as Wii Graces.. with what.. 1/50th less of a userbase?

About the same, yeah.
Graces (Wii) - 200,000 Copies
Vesperia (360) - 204,000 Copies
Vesperia (PS3) - 350,000 Copies
Tales of Symphonia: Knight of Ratatosk (Wii) - 210,000 Copies.
So all things considered Graces didn't do that great, and Vesperia PS3, despite being a port, trashed all the others. So this is, for once, a very smart move on Namco Bandai's part.

Looking at the sales, this really doesn't make much sense at all. I guess they might've made Tales of Graces in a way that can easily be ported to the PS3. However I really don't see how that would be worth their time. What gamer doesn't have a Wii by now? Seriously. If you have a PS3 in Japan you probably have a Wii too. If you love Tales enough you would've already bought it for the Wii.
If they're not going to localize Vesperia, they're probably not going to localize Graces for the PS3. Unless a miracle happens and it sells millions.
To be honest I really don't care about Tales of Graces, I am however very intrigued with that extra PS3 Tales game they announced. If the real game is anywhere near the concept art I'm sold.
PS: I'm also somewhat frustrated that I watched Tales of Vesperia First Strike to hype myself up for the game (because I thought it would be announced at E3...)....and now I'm not sure if I should just play the Japanese version and train my Japanese.

Yeah selling another 250,000-300,000 copies of a port of a game that drastically underperformed on the Wii is totally a waste of time. They should instead focus on making another Wii game (that will sell crap) because every Ps3 owner has a Wii as well.

 Are you being sarcastic?
I'm only pointing out that the Wii game sold 200,000 copies, by logic won't it sell EVEN LESS on the PS3?
It's different for Vesperia because the 360 and PS3 user base is more divided. The 360 having a super weak install base (in Japan), I thought it was natural to port it to the PS3 and have it perform better. The Wii however is everywhere in Japan if you were interested enough to buy Tales of Graces, I don't see why you would buy it again on the PS3. Only super hard-core Tales fans that really want the extra content would purchase it on the PS3 as well.
And there is also the quality of the game itself that you have to factor in. Tales of Symphonia 2 was a let down in my opinion and it deserved the poor sales, I never played Graces myself so I don't know. There is also a mentality that this is a Wii port not a 360 port. Wii is hardly considered a current-gen system in the first place. If the game was made for Wii already, wouldn't people suspect that the quality of the game might not be on par to a 360/PS3 game? (I'm not saying that it isn't, I'm just pointing out the first thing that would come to a person's mind)
I'm not an industrial analyst, I'm obviously amateur, but this is just what I see. If you think my logic is flawed you can just point it out and explain it to me. I'm sorry if I said something idiotic.

Your post just proves one point, tales fans are not tied to a specific console, i bet that ~200000 people who actually bought graces, TOV 360 and the main fraction of the PS3 version are the same people. So the fan base are loyal to the games rather than the consoles. The rest of the 350000 ps3 numbers, are just casual gamers who bought the game by chance and through futher marketing push. Beside i reckon more people have played graces than TOV ps3, the Wii is such an unsecure system and still open to piracy, why else is there a fan translation project (http://talesofgraces.com/) going on?
Considering the chances of PS3 Graces getting localized is like 0.1% what made you think I was talking about America?
Because in the absence of region specification by the poster I assume it to be about the West where most of us live.
Might have something to do with a port of Versperia selling a lot more than a brand new Tales game, even though that game was on a system that has twice the userbase.
Please refer back to my previous post where I said that the installed user base for the Xbox 360 is very small in Japan.
Graces (Wii) - 200,000 Copies
Vesperia (360) - 204,000 Copies
Vesperia (PS3) - 350,000 Copies
Tales of Symphonia: Knight of Ratatosk (Wii) - 210,000 Copies.
All of these are weak numbers, even PS3 Vesperia's. Why do they even bother? Some people seem to forget that porting a game costs money as well, and it's even more expensive to port one from the Wii to one of the HD systems where they would have to make an effort to make the game look like it belongs on there.
 Are you being sarcastic?
Totally
I'm only pointing out that the Wii game sold 200,000 copies, by logic won't it sell EVEN LESS on the PS3?
Ps3 versions of the same game generally outsell Wii versions. here's one of the latest examples.
03. / 00. [PS3] World Soccer Winning Eleven 2010: Challenge of the Blue Samurai (Konami) - 57.214 / NEW
06. / 00. [PSP] World Soccer Winning Eleven 2010: Challenge of the Blue Samurai (Konami) - 21.118 / NEW
09. / 00. [PS2] World Soccer Winning Eleven 2010: Challenge of the Blue Samurai (Konami) - 14.269 / NEW
15. / 00. [WII] World Soccer Winning Eleven 2010: Challenge of the Blue Samurai (Konami) - 8.000 / NEW
Pretty sure the Basara 3 game on Ps3 outsold the Wii version as well, lol @ Capcom just going all the limitations on the game is the fault of the Wii.

The Wii has not captured the hardcore Ps2 fanbase. As you can see from Winning Eleven which make no mistake is a popular franchise in Japan you still have more people buying the ps2 version than the Wii.

Delusional.
Lol @ the Wii having no people casually wanting to buy this game yet the ps3 fanbase somehow has 150,000 casuals out of nowhere.
And wow you went with piracy lol. Okay sure, every psx and ps2 game outsold the highest selling games on the n64 and gamecube because those systems where full of pirates!
Yay for talking out of your ass when confronted with facts, you'll probably get banned from neogaf for posting shit like that.
Because in the absence of region specification by the poster I assume it to be about the West where most of us live.
Yes nevermind the fact that the Tales franchise is big in Japan and the games just got announced for Japan and that the dates are for Japan, lets just ignore that yeah? I mean what else could I be talking about? There's a limit to how much you have to be hand held through some conversations.
All of these are weak numbers, even PS3 Vesperia's. Why do they even bother?
I guess they should cancel The Last Story because it's not going to sell much more than this.. Xenoblade seems like it topped out at around 150,000.

Obviously it's not as expensive as you think since Namco are not only porting it, they're also adding lots of extra content to it. But yeah I'm sure Nintendo Fanboy #104414141 knows more than Namco about how much this is going to cost them :eyespin:

Yep that is what i am saying and i stick to it. Unlike you, i accept that the casual audience is larger than it is and the most importatn bit is that, Casually gamers are unpredictable. That is why you see crap like just dance, or established titles like final fantasy can sell like hot cakes or a bag of crap. Fan base always guarantees you fix number of sales, which can grow or drop, but does not have the major impact as casual gamers have.
Comparing consumer of today with the past is just absurd, nowadays you got much more recreational alternatives promoted than in the past, gaming is just a small fraction. Meaning wii/ps3 games have to actually fight not only against the gaming industrie, but also other recreational activities.

Well there's no need to be...
Sorry Westlo I'm not familiar with this side of the industry. But I tried to be as friendly as possible in the discussion even if my points were invalid. It's not very nice to be condescending...:(
But I thank you for explaining the benefits behind porting Graces over PS3. I didn't see it as anything positive until now. I guess in a business stand point, it'll earn them a fast buck without too much effort.
Yes nevermind the fact that the Tales franchise is big in Japan and the games just got announced for Japan and that the dates are for Japan, lets just ignore that yeah? I mean what else could I be talking about?
This is an English message board. People here generally want to play English language games, and it's not like they never talk about Japanese games and wonder if they will be localised.

Please quit the holier-than-thou attitude. You're being quite rude and making a silly assumption based on a couple posts in a Nintendo Wii thread.
Sides... you don't realize how silly it sounds to say
Tales fanbase = 200,000 people
150k extra sales for Vesperia Ps3 came from casuals.
Meaning the system with 10 million userbase has 0 casual fans interested in Tales while the system with 5 million somehow has 150,000 casual fans.
It's silly period, funny too when you have another guy arguing that every Ps3 owner has a Wii as well.
This is an English message board. People here generally want to play English language games, and it's not like they never talk about Japanese games and wonder if they will be localised.
It's amazing out of a 10 page neogaf thread not a single full of comments about Namco finally finding the userbase not a single person thought people were talking about the western world. The only person on any forum talking about this to think that is yourself. Might have something to do with a port for a game that will never get released here but nah couldn't be.

You do realize what I was responding to was you saying something about the sales for the last 4 tales games, 3 of which were original.

pot meet kettle.
I just checked the sales for No More Heroes port on the PS3 and 360.
Since I feel like it is a pretty good example of a popular Wii exclusive porting itself over to the other systems to gain more sales. It is a more accurate representation of this scenario instead of Winning Eleven and Sengoku Basara 3.
Wii - 38,943
PS3 - 28,084
360 - 21,837
Although it sold more on the Wii, the PS3/360 is not that far behind. This pattern is what I originally imagined to happen to Tales of Graces F sales, which was why I said it would perform weaker on the PS3. But it seems like the cost spent to port Graces is probably a lot less than the money they could earn from the PS3 fanbase making this worth their time.
I'd also like to point out that the examples you mentioned in your earlier post, Weslto, aren't exactly fair cases to prove your point. Sengoku Basara 3 and Winning Eleven were both released together. They were not ports, not to mention that Winning Eleven is not an identical port. The Wii version was missing HD and other game features (like customizable button interface), but have old school mechanics like 360 dribbling...makes the game quite different (old school fans prefer the Wii apparently). When you provide both products on the market on the same day and one is obviously prettier, the PS3 version (HD, current gen) is bound to do a lot better because it attracts more attention. Both Sengoku Basara 3 and Winning Eleven were released on the same date instead of being ported after a certain period of time. I think this makes a really big difference to your argument. First of all the product is no longer fresh, and the initial momentum already disappeared. Second of all this is actually a Wii port not a game developed on both systems and released at the same time. Being developed together and being ported later, really makes a big difference.
I think my initial point is that being a port might not actually change the quality of Tales of Graces and make it worse, but I believe the mentality is quite similar to getting "sloppy seconds" as well as "half-assed-products" (360 port to PS3 is different however because of how both systems can infact achieve similar quality and the same button layout). This mentality would probably turn-off some players from buying the game. I hope I made my points a lot clearer and less retarded this time.
EDIT: Sorry I took too long editing and you posted already. But I just did a little more background check and added it in the post.
You're comparing a niche game to a game from the third biggest jrp series in Japan.... not to mention that the Ps3 is becoming the console jrpg system in Japan... FFXIII Versus, FFIV, Disgaea 4, Ninokuni, Graces Port, New Tales game, Atelier Rorona 2 etc...
Don't worry, I'll up this thread when the first week of Graces Ps3 outsells the LTD of the Wii version... WKC2 ffs sells 200,000 first week...

Sorry I edited my post for too long, but you already posted. (please look at my updates, I think my points are not ill-founded)
I don't see why you would deny my examples, and then name something like WKC2 which is a highly anticipated PS3 exclusive (your previous examples are not very well founded either)...the scenario is completely different. Tales of Graces is a Wii port...WKC2 is a PS3 exclusive...the history of both games are different.
I'm not saying that Bandai Namco's business actions are completely unwise. I feel like developing an exclusive Tales for the PS3 is on the right step (I never said that they should develop another crappy Wii game like you claimed me to think in your first post towards me, but I guess you were just joking). Like you said, that IS where the RPG fanbase is. After what you pointed out in your earlier posts, I also feel like porting Tales of Graces might actually do enough good on the PS3 that it'll benefit them financially.
I'm not denying your points Westlo, like you are belittling everyone against Bamco's decision here. I originally intended this to be an honest discussion not an argument.
Piracy cut into the sales big time. The game was leaked even before it came out, like SMG2, not to mention the big highly anticipated FFXIII coming out in the same week. I believe the Tales fanbase who CAN'T pirate it will be the ones to attribute to the purchase of ToGf.

Piracy didn't cut into sales for Grace just like it didn't cut to sales for ToS2, both games underpreform in Japan. The Tales series just happens to sale better on Sony platforms because that's where there main fanbase is. Even with the huge privacy on the PSP the PSP Tales games outsold the DS Tales games that have come out so far. It seems like Namco finally realized this and that's why Two PS3 Tales games are coming out and two games on the PSP.
Good news since now I can import the games. Namco doesn't seem interested in bringing Tales games anymore to the West. -_-
You do realize what I was responding to was you saying something about the sales for the last 4 tales games, 3 of which were original.
My point was that the PS3 port of Vesperia's sales number was not significant enough to warrant the effort.

The West? I don't think they ever cared, when it's beneficial for them they license and sell the game. That's about it.
Oh well... I just hope the fanbase here in the US wise up and realize their devotion to Bamco is one-sided.
The SCEA is also really tough on ports. You need at 30% more original content from the first game to be considered to be allowed to port a game over here. The NIS CEO said it himself. If SCEA says no, Namco can't bring their games over here. Still, screw Bamco...

You underestimate the effect that piracy has on sales. Had this been 2006, then I could agree it would have little to no effect, but now? I'm sure they lose quite a bit of sales to piracy. if 10,000 people were to pirate the game, that's 5% of total sales. Given how easy it is to mod a system right now, you think it has no effect? I just can't believe that, especially considering that the iso was leaked before the game came out AND it was free. For a Tales fan, just the opportunity to play it sooner would provoke you to not buy it and just burn it, but for FREE as well? Clearly quite the number of ppl could have taken this option. as far as saying 2 Tales game are coming out, its only obvious, since one is a port and the other, while new, also makes sense considering the wii and x360 had their own versions(originally).

I like how some are throwing in some obscure titles to make it look like games that are cross platform sell better in other systems outside the wii. When they don't bring out massive titles like Guitar hero 5
Wii: 1.06 million
XBOX: 840k
PS3: 690k
And has been consistent with other GH titles with minor exceptions where the sales are virtually identical.
Can't think of any other titles considering that very few games actually are cross platformed between the Wii and the other two that are worth mentioning considering they're vastly different systems.
Well anyway, they're just doing what they did with Tales of Symphonia made the initial sales on Gamecube and then port it to PS2 to bumper the sales. In any case if Graces doesn't make it to the states T_T for the wii, it'll never make it here on the PS3. Unless of course they'll wait to sometime late next year and release both at the same time in the states.

I still want my bushido Kratos. :|
Quoting duckroll from neogaf (he posts on here occasionally in some anime threads)
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=402858
Today's Tales Of event officially unveiled the improved PS3 port of Tales of Graces. Since there is a separate thread for the new PS3 Tales game, I'll make one for this as well.
The F in the title stands for "Future," and it highlights the main major enhancement over the original game. Aside from the original storyline, a post-ending epilogue storyline has been added to the game. It takes place half a year after the end of the game, and the voiced events in it take up 3 script books in volume. In comparison, the original game itself has 4 script books for the entire game, so there is almost twice the amount of story content being added.
Other additions in the game will include a new costume for Sophie, various new moves and hi-ougis for the characters, and many more. The power point slide at the presentation seems to indicate that there will be a new gameplay system being added called "Accelerate Mode," and that Richard will be the 7th playable character in the game. It also seems to show a brand new dungeon not in the original game.
As far as the graphics go, the game will be presented in HD, but it seems that they will be keeping most of the assets in the original. The game looks to be a the original assets rendered in a HD resolution ala Sony's HD Classics line of PS2 ports. The producer did mention that they will be doing adjustments as they see fit to make the graphics look as good as possible in HD though.
The game is slated for release in "Winter 2010," which probably means December in Japan. About a year after the release of the Wii original. It's ToV PS3 all over again!

My point was that the PS3 port of Vesperia's sales number was not significant enough to warrant the effort.
So wait let me get this straight? The port that cost the least to develop and sold the most copies is a waste of time and resources?
I'm not belittling anyone who challenges my point of view, nor am I calling anyone who defends the port a PS3 fanboy.
Having a holier than thou attitude isn't restricted to just belittling people, acting like you know how much ports cost and dismissing an entire genre of gaming as skilless twitch also implies you have such attitude
The SCEA is also really tough on ports. You need at 30% more original content from the first game to be considered to be allowed to port a game over here. The NIS CEO said it himself. If SCEA says no, Namco can't bring their games over here. Still, screw Bamco...
Looks like it will cover 30% easily... It takes place half a year after the end of the game, and the voiced events in it take up 3 script books in volume. In comparison, the original game itself has 4 script books for the entire game, so there is almost twice the amount of story content being added
But we all know it's not coming out here.
Ah now it all makes sense why Ps3 Basara 3 smashed the Wii version, piracy!
Media Create July 26-August 1
01. / 00. [PS3] Sengoku Basara 3 (Capcom) - 243.000 / NEW
05. / 00. [WII] Sengoku Basara 3 (Capcom) - 50.000 / NEW
ToS Ps2 version must have been played by way more people than the Gamecube version, I can't prove it in sales but it was piracy man.
as far as saying 2 Tales game are coming out, its only obvious, since one is a port and the other, while new, also makes sense considering the wii and x360 had their own versions(originally).
Tales of Graces F is getting like 75% more script and is "the" tales game of 2010, The next Tales game for Ps3 is the 15th Anniversary Project, a rather major one... Vesperia was on 360 because Microsoft pushed hard with money for exlusive Jrpgs to try and make a dent in Japan, as it did not work too well they abandoned that tactic. Graces was put on the Wii because it's the dominant home console in Japan but Namco found out what everyone else knows, 3rd parties do shit on the Wii. Xenoblade has struggled to 150,000 copies sold...
Casual game sells better on the casual console? Woah, mind blown!! Next you're going to tell me Modern Warfare 2 sold better on the 360 and that Final Fantasy XIII sold better on the Ps3!
No they aren't. The RPG fanbase are on the DS and PSP. :D
As far as consoles go it's the Ps3. Upcoming known rpgs known about with more to be announced @ TGS.
Versus XIII, Ninokuni, Tales Series 15th Anniversary Project, Disgaea 4, Tales of Graces F, Final Fantasy XIV, Atelier Rorona 2, Record of Agarest War 2, TRINITY: Souls of Zill O'll.
Last 6 months has given us Final Fantasy XIII, Resonance of Fate, Ar Tonelico III, Last Rebellion, Star Ocean: The Last Hope International & White Knight Chronicles 2.
Sides... you don't realize how silly it sounds to say
Yes. This means no matter on what console namco-bandai release a tales title, it will sell at least 150000-200000 units, excluding best version. But to correct my statment, tales fanbase is probably sub 150000 (120000, if i recalled the TOH numbers). So yeah i will be buying the ps3 version as well, nothing to do with console, it is the games i'm after. I'm i'm still standing by it, that tales fans do not give a crap on which console titles are being released on.

Thanks for all the info you have been posting Westlo. :)
Have always been a Tales fan but I have been a bit out of the loop as of late; That is, I am pretty much catching up with info right now. :meh:
Really looking forward for more Tales goodness.
I'm surprised by how much content they're going to add on Tales of Graces F. That's literally a sequel in a game.
I'm open to that idea though, I really enjoyed the character quests in Legendia. It felt like I was revisiting them after the season finale.
That being said...who here played Tales of Graces and enjoyed it? I haven't played it myself and none of my friends have, so I've been wondering what would you rate the game comparing them to other Tales of titles? Any breakthrough in storytelling and characters? Or just the usual?

As far as consoles go it's the Ps3.
A distinction which means jack in Japan. As far as that audience is concerned, there's no real distinction between handhelds and consoles anymore and limiting things to the latter is cutting important sections of the audience out for no good reason. And if we're going the route of lists. . .just off the top of my head, portable RPGs either recently announced or those released in the last six months:
Tactics Ogre: Wheel of Fate
Radiant Historia
Golden Sun: Dark Dawn
Ninokuni
Pokemon Black/White
Yuusha 30 Second (Half Minute Hero 2)
Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 3
7th Dragon
Etrian Odyssey III
Fate/Extra
Last Ranker
Ys: The Oath in Felghana
Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 2
Knights in Nightmare PSP
Inazuma Eleven 3
Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem
And I know I'm forgetting a number of titles. That's just what I can be bothered to remember. Portable supremacy!
That being said...who here played Tales of Graces and enjoyed it? I haven't played it myself and none of my friends have, so I've been wondering what would you rate the game comparing them to other Tales of titles?
I enjoyed Graces more for the combat system more than the story (what I could understand of it, at any rate) is what I can say. But then again, certain games and series *cough*SMTforexample*cough* have set my expectations for story quality a bit too high in recent times.:heh:
Looks like it will cover 30% easily... It takes place half a year after the end of the game, and the voiced events in it take up 3 script books in volume. In comparison, the original game itself has 4 script books for the entire game, so there is almost twice the amount of story content being added
Still, NIS has it spot on. If ToG was released on 360 first, we may had saw a release but since it was released on Majikkon of Consoles and given their experience with PSP where they had to pay lots of money to make sure they have first dibs on OFW. They have a pretty grim idea of what will happen with the English version. And the reason why there was never a DS release was due to Flashcart rampancy
Not saying Namco is spotless but given how much piracy they face with their games, they simply can't take loss of sale to pirates

Best 3D Tales title made up till now, beats TotA easily.

I agree that system-wise it has the best of the 3d tales so far, but the story was a little bit of a let down for me.
It would have been better if the cast overall had been a bit more memorable, with their themes being a little less heavy handed (how many times does the word "protect" get thrown around, even in the games theme song? 0_o). I swear, you could have made a drinking game out of it.
Great game over all, if not for those last points. I still want to see how they expand on the story in the epilogue however. If its anything like Legendia's, I'm going to probably love it.

Care to elaborate on how special the system is? I've tried to find a review but they're scarce and not detailed, I'm assuming because the game is a bit of an underdog even in Asia. I know that you can switch styles or something along those lines? I'm assuming they still have multiplayer?
Does it hold a candle to Vesperia in terms of quality? I've heard a lot of great things about Vesperia too, about how Yuri is one of the most unique Tales protagonists ever. But I've played neither.
I know a lot of people are going to disagree with me for good reasons, but I actually enjoyed Tales of Legendia's story the most. It had a really interesting setting, and the character quests really made me like the cast (except Shirley).

Well first it is a tales title, i'm a big fan of the series but i always find that tales titles are childish and no exception here.
The difference between ToV and ToG is i find that ToG is more streamlined/refinded, that is probably due to how the locations are connnected. I always find that the system used by Team Symphonia clumsy and conservative. The battle system is more fast paced and doesn't have the 2D feel that TotA and ToG have. Overall Team Destiny has managed what Team Symphonia didn't, creating a proper 3d title.
One thing is ToG feels shorter, but then again you're not running around a giant empty world map.
I'm not going to piss off any ToV fans, but Yuri is like, how a kid would pen a dark hero, he is pretty predictable and generic. But than again same applies to Asbel and all the main characters in the tales series.
But both and all tales titles are worth playing. If you live in the west get ToV on the 360, you could be able to get it for used for pennies now. The PS3 is not really worth it, in my opinion. It was technically and visually inferior, but had more content/story.

The battle system is unique in that finds ways to largely retain the fast paced and fairly linear battle style that the 2D games were famous for, while changing things up to 3D.
They accomplished this by incorporating the side-step mechanic to dodge enemy assaults and making free run all by useless compared to its Vesperia and Abyss counterparts (no more walking out of spell range).
The style shift system was a fun new mechanic that acted in a similar way to action games "dial-a-combo" where depending on what moves you linked to each other the next set of available moves would be decided. Made for a fun fast-paced system that largely eliminated "normal" attacks.
Lastly, the CC system that eliminates TP has probably been (formerly known as) Team Destiny's greatest addition to the formula IMO. So much fun, and no need to purchase TP items again :D
Story-wise, I liked most of the cast, but they were fairly standard for the most part, with only Pascal standing out for me (the ditz and genius combined, kinda felt like Harold from Destiny 2 and Norma from Legendia in one character). And it wouldn't have bothered me as much, like I said, if not for the heavy-handed delivery of their main theme.
At least it wasn't racism this time ^_^;; However, if the characters are fleshed out in the epilogue like Legendia's cast I may change my mind.
Still overall one of the better home console Tales in the past few years IMO. Glad they are toning down the flood of titles however. They all start to blend together.
I think Graces and Hearts are the only ones I actually enjoyed in the long run :/

I don't think the early trailer for ToG F was posted here yet:

Mixed feelings about this. (in a good way) The trailer seems to be more focused on the epilogue than the main story. (unless the main story is being largely changed, which I doubt) You can definitely see a big difference in graphic level, but it looks like we might be in for a sad story in the epilogue.

Models/assets looks like the same, just rendered at a higher resolution. Obviously shadow and lighting effects are differnet, due to different hardware.
Not sure what to think about the future of HD gaming, considering how good Basara 3 sold on the ps3, also using the Wii as base. But Wii titles running at a higher resolution and 60fps is good enought for me, also save developers a lot of money.
Wii titles can also run at 60 FPS, you know. Use 480p. :)

I was refering to the fact that Basara 3 and ToG:F are wii titles that are rendered at a higher resolution for the PS3, plus some hardware specific lighting and shading effects. Considering the success of productions, such as basara 3 and disgaea 3, can have on the ps3, devs are likely to stop producing PS360 titles like they have up until now, and start cutting their cost by developing games differently, i.e. using PSP, PS2 or Wii as initial developing plattform and upport them to ps360.

I just tried the demo on the Japanese PSN.
It's been a long time since I played Tales, my last one was Legendia (didn't like the combat but I thought the story was really solid, especially the character quests after the main quest felt like I was playing a sequel). Then I basically sat through my friend's Tales of Symphonia 2 play through (i played 1), wasn't really impressed with that.
I have to say I'm not too interested in Tales of Graces F after I just played it. But the graphics are wonderful in HD, they look so crisp and great. However the designs still didn't improve too much, they went back to the chibi form which I thought is a drawback from Abyss' and Vesperia's normal proportions. None of the characters stand out to me right now, but that's because it's just a demo so I'll give them a chance. The battle system is great although I can't figure out how to jump...>.< or can I? I don't recall being able to jump in the old games (i know I can do air combos) but for some reason I feel very "grounded" in this one. You can pull of this thing called Accel force when the bar charges up, do stronger damages. You can link up your O and X combos. Basically the battle system is pretty basic and Abyss like.
I guess I'm just a lot more intrigued by Vesperia than I am with Graces. I can't say I like Asbel's design much right now, but I was never really a fan of Tales aesthetics (although it never stopped me from enjoying the games). I do hope they try something new with the PS3 tales exclusive (at least the concept art seems so).

No you cannot jump. Don't know if you have noticed, but this is game was done by their other team, not Team Symphonia. So if you like symphonia and abyss you probably would prefer vesperia, the game mechanic are pretty similar in those games, since it is done but the same team.

No I didn't notice until you mentioned it. This is done by the same team that made Destiny? I don't know if I like Symphonia more since Lloyd really annoyed me to no end, but it was literally the first Tales I played from start to finish so it's got a special place in my heart. I did semi enjoy Abyss storyline even though I just sat through my friend's play through with him, didn't like Luke too much. I guess Vesperia attracts me because of Yuri, he doesn't seem to be annoying like Lloyd or Luke, seems to have things in control but not to the point of boring. Basically if someone's going to save the world Yuri's character would make the most sense out of the three.
Who's making the PS3 exclusive tales then?
Who's making the PS3 exclusive tales then?
Don't know yet, it is probably a new team, probably a new mixtured from both teams and others, since the new game has a new character designer, neither Inomata (destiny) nor Fujishima (symphonia) is doing it.

I've heard it's Ratatosk's Okumura.
I knew it was going to be idea playing the demo, because now i'm completely obsessed with the game. I could easily import the PS3 version when it's released, though i'd be missing out on so much. Sure i could easily work my way through the demo thanks to past RPG knowledge and the everyday dialogue i could pick up, though that would completely change with the full game. Bummer. :(
I hear there's a fan translation project for the Wii version. Guess i could look into that.
The game is actually easy to follow, and since you have been a member here for at least 5 year, and probably watch anime for much longer, you shouldn't have much trouble with it. Only problem i had was with the items and items description, since my kanji is still rubbish, but you can find items guides on the web.
So no excuse not to buy either versions, but yeah the exchange rate is pretty bad, because the yen is really strong at the moment.

It'll use Riivolution, which can patch data into the RAM of the wii or have the data be accessed from the sd card. I know MASSIVE amounts of hacking is involved just for the data to properly be integrated into the system, but for us on the user-end, it should be as simple as installing the Riivolution program and launching it to start the game.
Here is the link to the fan translation site(if you haven't found it already), which has loads of information and a status bar of how far they've gotten, which is automatically updated hourly.

Anything over 3.41 won't work, rumours are you can downgrade back to this firmware, but you have to dish out over $100, that is if you can find the device, since sony have manage to ban it from being imported to NA and some other countries.
So getting 2 PS3 is the way to go, if you want to use PSN and homebrew.

^ Did you end up getting the english ToV for the 360? Or are you waiting for the PS3 version (which will probably never come)?
Well i got both, took almost 6 months for me to get the ps3 version, since it ran out of stock, and i didn't ordered it when it came out. Even if it seems that the tales series has a large following it isn't actually true that fans buy the games. Accessories, merchandising, manga and anime seems to be much popular than the games themselves, so if you missed the first print, it takes ages to get a copy shipped.

Don't own a 360, so waiting for the PS3 US/UK release which will probably never happen. :(
Same here :(, except my Wii is like in storage and I can't get off my ass to take it back out. I can understand Japanese (mostly) but when it gets to all these technical stuff where they replace everything with some Anime term like L'cie or Fal'cie or w/e I get confused and mess up AND I'm a slow Japanese reader.
Considering just getting the Japanese version and watch Youtube videos of the English dub/sub. :(
Well i got both, took almost 6 months for me to get the ps3 version, since it ran out of stock, and i didn't ordered it when it came out. Even if it seems that the tales series has a large following it isn't actually true that fans buy the games. Accessories, merchandising, manga and anime seems to be much popular than the games themselves, so if you missed the first print, it takes ages to get a copy shipped.
I didn't go look for the game (ToV) recently...but if that's true the world just doesn't want me to play it. I really do want to know what happens to Yuri though...it better not disappoint if I get it.

Sadly it's true... Namco is abandoning english speaking Tales fans for awhile... for how long I do not know... It's sad cause outside of their fighting games, Tales is their biggest IP. I swear... big companies and their fucked up decisions.

Play-asia seems to have couple of copies in stock, except it says "this item is not available in your territory" (ip filtering). Seems like UK and other european nations are still having the sony import ban. Better get it now than be sorry forever. But too be honest PS3 vs 360 version, unless you are a hardcore collector/fan the 360 is the better choice, beside costing much less.

I meant a hard copy around town, since I live in Asia. Unfortunately I don't have a 360, but I'm curious why the 360 version would be better since PS3's got more story content and everything.

English. Otherwise there is no reason to go for 360 version.

It is a question about what people prefer, original or alternative version. Personally i don't like how Flynn joins the party, it feels off. IMO the 360 version is Yuri's journey and the ps3 a fan-service edition of the game, it even has characters from first strike in it.... Not that is any bad, just not necessary changes, but it if you only have a ps3, ps3 version it is.
Bear in mind TOG:F is/will be different, since it add new a story after the event of the original game, not rewriting it, like ToV.

I see. Hm well I did see First Strike and I was actually hoping to see the characters in the game, the twins especially, so I guess that's a good thing.
Is that the only difference?

Currently, they had a net loss last fiscal year(which starts in March i believe). A Tales game takes far more resources in terms of translations, voicing, and debugging compared to their fighting game franchises, many of which have an already established world(s), less voicing, and do 2x or more better in sales. Based on the previous sales figures of the Tales games in the states, Namco does not consider it a popular(i.e. profitable enough) franchise to continue in lieu of its financial situation.
Is that the only difference?
Well you have patty, the pirate girl with the guns. And more skills, more side quests, items, more stuff to buy from PSN.
Some visual differences, 360 uses AA and some blur filtering, PS3 has a lower resolution and uses QAA. I find that the ps3 version looks blurrier. Not too sure but i think the ps3 has better audio, if you have the right equipment, i just got stereo speakers so it is hard to tell. But the PS3 has most dialogue dubbed, which I found great for since my japanese reading skill suck. Good thing about the 360 you can install the discs, so no ODD hovering.
One thing i encountered having a problem with the PS3 version is, to input the code word to open a door. That was a bad design decision from Tales Studio, just no. I just hope that they do not do that again, ever.
Tales is not one of their higher selling IPs, you have ridge racer, ace combat, taiko no tatsujin, pac-man, and what not. Tales isn't that big, except for selling merchandise.

Ridger Racer and Ace Combat is around, quite frequent actually. I think Ace is HAWX's direct competitor. Tatsujin is still quite popular in the arcades (you can even catch a glimpse of it in recent moe-blob anime OreImo).
Now Pacman on the other hand...I don't think they have any new games for that guy. I know they're still selling his toys and stuff, and he in Mario Kart Arcade. That's about it.
I really wish I can just walk into Bandai's headquarters and slap the shit out of the heads. They have so many big names under their sleeves in both the anime and gaming industry but they never do much with it.
But, anyway, isn't the Tales studio in debt or something? Maybe that's why they're abandoning the english speaking market? Probably the people on top want them to prove themselves domestically before they're allowed back on the international market?

Okay, two questions:
One, I've been thinking that I want to get Graces F on the PS3 when it comes out on December 2nd, but this whole business lately about the possibility of Region Locks has me confused. Some people say it will be implemented and some say it won't, while some say the option to make games Region Locked will be made available to game producers while others say the option has already been available for a while. So which is it?
Two, I checked my usual import site Play Asia, and they have a Japan Region and an Asian Region version of the game, with the Asian version being a whole 30 bucks cheaper. What's the difference between the two?

Mostly nothing. As in case of my Basara 3 purchase, Asian version is 20$ cheaper, and the only difference is my manual is in Chinese instead of Japanese. Japanese version is more expensive due to the fact that they are imported, I think.

Exchange rate most likely, just to be quite similar. Last time i ordered an asian version it was the same as the japanese release, including japanese manual. Difference were, instead of japan printed on the sleeve, it says asia(n) and came with a (traditional) chinese quick start flyer. Don't know if they know come with a complete chinese or korean manual nowadays.
Remember to ask them for the preorder goodies, if you're getting the japanese version preordered, sometimes they don't give it to you if you don't ask for it.
Tales studio in debt? Yep, blame it on raising cost of development. Since they are actually part of namco bandai, i don't think merchandising and other stuff goes to their account, don't quote me on that, but it is highly likey it isn't.

Ridge Racer... I haven't heard that name since last gen (PS2 era) and Ace Combat as well... And Arcades are deader than Britney Spear's career here in America.
If they're so big how come I never heard of them? I even asked some friends and coworkers and they had the same reaction as I did.

Ridge racer 7(2006/07) is one of the few retail games that runs at 60fps on 1080p res for the PS3, unless you are a late adopter you probably have it somewhere flying around at home. Ridge racer 6 was on the 360 (2005/06). RR7 just received a 3D patch/update recently and believe it or not it was one of the best selling PS3 titles when it was released (okay it was a launch title...)

Not over in the East. Which is the side of the world that Namco cares more about. I'd actually say Namco is pretty big in the arcade business, with Tekken, Gundam Vs franchise, Senjou no Kizuna, Tatsujin, Mario Kart Racing..etc. They're a big deal in the arcade business. It's not popular in the states probably because of various reasons? Marketing, disinterest, commute (people drive around more, while japanese ppl bike/walk/train and can just pop into an arcade on the way home) etc etc etc.
I don't know why you've never heard of Ace Combat this gen, probably because you're not interested in it in general and you just missed it (and it's a big name in Japan but probably not in the states). It came out with a 2007 360 exclusive, a 2009 iPhone game, 2010 PSP came and have a 2011 planned new release on the PS360 called Assault Horizon.
Ridge Racer on the other hand continued onto smaller platforms, such as the iPhone and the future release 3DS. Can't compete with GT5.
Sometimes a title can be huge, but only domestically and not internationally (and even so maybe only in Asia). You might think that's not enough, but to them it might be more than enough profit. The same goes for games in America, they might be underdogs/ignored and not as well known over in Asia but are still big names and profitable. I guess if you're an avid racer/flight sim fan you wouldn't be surprised at all.
Tales of Graces F English Demo Patch released, just google it. You need to have fw3.41, for the time being, until 3.50 is broken, which if lucky shouldn't take long.
You will need a usb devices as well, like ipod, iphone, dingo, sansa/rockbox, to run psgroove and R3volution.

For the patch---you need Jailbreak to use it, or not ?
Of course, not sure if i will work on a debug unit, which can run unsigned codes. However it won't work with the "official" psjailbreak dongle. You can read what is required on talesofgraces.com. As for the retail game, you have to wait until someone figures out the masterkey for it, since it complied with the lastest sdk. Although jailbreak, on the ps3, is temporary, the ps3 logs process which could render your unit banned from psn, solution is to get two ps3.

They are just abandoning ship since American game reviewers hate JRPGs, look at how bioware and IGN slammed JRPGs constantly, and with Square Enix hitting new lows. Japan's dominance in the video game market may soon be forced back.

Recently played the Japanese demo on the PS3 and wow I'm rusty. I was barely able to remember the overall controls during battle or perhaps it just means that the controls really are different from Tales of Vesperia and Tales of the Abyss.
Anyway It made me happy to hear the game was being re-released on the PS3 seeing as how I'm not really interested in play Rpgs on the wii. However the problem is I have a strict rule about Buying Japanese RPGS that are not translated so I'm wondering if perhaps there has been any news on whether or not the U.S. will be getting the game.

Is that you just reading up on that, or actually trying it? I say this because i was told access to the Japanese PSN store can't be done, though all i did was create a new PS3 account, change my location as Japan and i was on.

This, pretty much answers it.
You can create account from any region you like, you just need to find an real address, for some regions. Most people here probably have at least 2 different region accounts. Unless your japanese skills are good, those guides are useful to get through the registration form, nothing more.

Try this one (http://www.psnstores.com/2009/10/creating-a-japanese-psn-account/). Not sure if they change anything , because when i signed up the screen looked different, all in grey and white.
As for updates, you still receive them.
The difference between a import ps3 console was, where they were build (JPN/ROC not sure if they are build in PRC as well) and the blu-ray, dvd and ps2 region coding nothing else.
Just remember if you switch accounts the save files are not shared.

I wouldn't think that just using a US Playstation Network money card would work. Would it?

I stuck in the game disc after I got my accound going to try, but there was no software update prompt. It could be possible that there simply isn't a software update for it, but given there are a good number of bugs and glitches in the game, I would hope they'd make a glitch fix update for the game.

Play-asia, Ncsx and other import shops sells them, the are called "Playstation Network Ticket" now. Before you buy anything consider getting a HK or taiwan account, some things work out cheaper, since asia releases are the same as the jpn. But i don't think TOG:F dlc are up on the asian servers.

Anything, but dude, no. Not this. Fix resolution panel, is a bad panel (unless it is oled, sed or whatever, which isn't widespread on the market yet). So 720p rescaled on a 1920x1080p or 1366x768p native panel will look crap as well a 480p on 1080p native display. However TV with good scaler will give you a decent image.
So don't bring up this issue ever up again.

Why do you think it only says up to 720p on the back of most PS3 games? Even when it includes 1080p/1080i on the back of the package, those are just for the cutscenes.
And I only say 99%/most of games to be on the safe side; I haven't played any games that use full 1080p in their gameplay.

Err, that was what i'm saying. This generation consoles + fix resolution panels is the biggest screw up for everyone, it doesn't matter it it has to be rescaled to 1024x720, 1024x768, 1366x768p or 1920x1080p. And it started so promising with the ps3 launch titles. RR7 is 1080p and couple of early demo are as well, besides stuff from psn.
Besides some newer ps3 titles are sub 720p to keep the frame rate steady.
Shinji103

Err, that was what i'm saying.Exactly, hence my point that all PS3 games already use 720p, which means you're arguing against my comment about 720p resolution for Tales of Graces F when all PS3 games use 720p. So isn't it kind of pointless to say you hate 720p on a 1080p screen since all PS3 games are 720p and have been since the beginning? :p
And in my experience, 720p still looks great on 1080p HDs, frame rate and all. (and I've gone through 3 different HDTVs with my PS3)

Well done dude! you manage to fry my brain.
What i was saying is that regardless of wii, ps3, 360, ps2 or what not, if a game looks crappy on a TV, then it is the TV's fault, because of the technology it is using, like 2nd rate scaling process, panel technology, filtering aso. So using the resolution to argue superiority of one console over another is just wrong. Besides RR7 was a launch title, so it is like going from 1920x1080 to 1280x720 to 960x1080 to 960x720 to 960x544. If we are lucky will end up getting 480p at the end of this generation...it is a joke

What i was saying is that regardless of wii, ps3, 360, ps2 or what not, if a game looks crappy on a TV, then it is the TV's fault,I know that's what you're saying, which is why I said that I've played my PS3 on 3 different HDTVs and the picture looks great on all of them. (and for more than just a 2 hour or so trial or anything; we have 3 different HDTVs in my house for three rooms, each one was in my PS3 room for a good length of time, until we finally decided on which TV goes in which room) And right now my Wii is hooked up to the same HDTV as my PS3, and you can clearly see 720p PS3 games >>> Wii 480p games for picture quality and frame rate. So I don't know what you or anybody else is doing with their HDTVs or PS3s, but mine work great. And I'm not talking about RR7 or any single title, I'm talking about multiple PS3 and Wii titles, and for all of them the result was the same.

Because i'm spoiled playing games on pc?, simple as that. And honestly in terms of frame rate Wii and 360 titles outweigh ps3 games, so my argument most gamers don't care, if a game is good. If i tell you that SO4, ToV, Vanquish, GTA4, all CoD titles aren't rendered at 720p internally (on consoles), would that matter? Nope, however you cannot use 720p as a selling point if it isn't true.
Put it that way, my wii on an old Triniton CRT 24" (max res 1920x1200) screen looks great, on my HDTV (fix res) is looks not as sharp, but that doesn't matter, because on my TV i'm siting 2-3m away. And from my experience difference between ToG:F(demo) and ToG, visually you won't spot differences unless you're looking for it, aka still screen and comparing it next to each other. Same with ToV ps3(1280?x576) vs 360 (1280x720). Pixel resolution is overrated, geometry, texture, effects and art design makes a game.

Yeah let's get back on topic. :p
Downloadable content for F is out tomorrow, and here's a sneak peak (http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2010/12/08/graces_f_dlc/) at the first set of costumes, and ones that will go on sale in coming weeks.
Personally i quite like the Graces Academy outfits, and the accessories.
Hey pal it's been a while. Anyway it matters mainly due to the fact that to me certain games feel more comfortable on certain systems with CERTAIN controllers.
Like how I'm totally uncomfortable playing a Sonic game using the Wii-mote....But I suck it up abyway
Most Wii games support multiple controller types, so I don't understand why people keep bringing up playing with a Wiimote.
So isn't it kind of pointless to say you hate 720p on a 1080p screen since all PS3 games are 720p and have been since the beginning?
No, because one doesn't always have a choice in which kind of HDTV to buy. Even worse, it's my impression that only 1080p HDTVs are sold over here.

IMHO, it's a good thing most TVs are now 1080p only.
Also, in my experience 720p HDTVs have never been sold in Europe (not commonly at least). The "less-than-1080p" TVs (usually called "HD Ready") were actually 768p (1366x768 pixel screen), which is an abomination that won't display anything pixel perfect.
As mentioned, especially on relatively smaller screen sizes (42" or smaller) you won't notice much of a problem when viewing 720p content on a 1080p TV.

Game, set, match and lol @ the dude who said the Ps3 ports was a waste of resources when most companies could wish their jrpgs can sell half as good for an original game let alone a port.

Why? Most content is 720p. You think it's a good thing for everyone to have a non-native image?
Why? Most content is 720p. You think it's a good thing for everyone to have a non-native image?
First, think broader than just games. Most Blu-ray discs are 1080p.
Second, as I mentioned the other alternative ("HD-Ready" 768p TVs) are not exactly an improvement either, so if I had the choice I'd pick a 1080p TV any day.
PS3 copy arrived, YaY.

Only problem, new PS3 still stuck somewhere at a parcelforce depot, weird royalmail guys are working...
Got the Bonus DVD with awesome DVD sleeve (that thing in the middle) as bonus, which includes the pre-order DLC code.
Yay for arrival, though sucks that no PS3 to play. I hope it arrives soon for you.
That DVD sleeve sure is sexy.
Finally got my copy of this!
Less than a day before the next Tales game site time runs out!
Looking at the stuff Namco America released this year makes me ill...
I guess it could be worse... like Namco asking for the JPN copy to be region locked.

This seems like a pretty cool anime style game. I'm playing Iris Online now, this game could be a great addition for my spare time
First, think broader than just games. Most Blu-ray discs are 1080p.
Blu-ray is pretty much the only medium where going 1080p is a viable option. Few broadcasts are 1080 lines, and of the few that are, they're interlaced.
I'm mostly interested in gaming, though, so all of that doesn't matter to me. Not to mention that HDTVs don't magically come with Blu-ray players.
Second, as I mentioned the other alternative ("HD-Ready" 768p TVs) are not exactly an improvement either, so if I had the choice I'd pick a 1080p TV any day.
Err, how are the 768p TVs not an improvement? They don't have to scale the image to the full height, you know.
There's a third alternative, and that's a 720p TV. Yeah, they may not have been sold in Europe, but that's not the point. It is what gamers need, not 1080p TVs that are only good for Blu-ray and limited Internet content.
Finally got my new ps3 delivered yAy
Just noticed that ToG:F only has linear pcm 2ch audio, unlike ToV, which had linear pcm 5.1 and dts 5.1. Futhermore forced 4500MB installation, unlike ToV.

I'm wondering if both TOV and TOG on PS3 will ever be localized in EU, or at least outside Japan with Eng voice and sub. Since Namco hates their non-Japanese fans. :(

Difficult to say. Those games were developed for different consoles and deals were done. Rumour is that ToG localisation was started for the wii, just need to see the ending credits, but dropped due to restructuring, aka lay-off of staffs, of their western department. Honestly Tales of Xillia localisation has a higher chance getting an overseas releases than those games.
But considering that namco bandai has finally realised that their main market is still japan, accounting for 70% of their last years revenue, their western studios will have more free time for localisation projects. So never say never, but don't hold your breath.

So I got Graces f for Christmas and started on it, but I noticed that I can't get any of the Downloadable Content started yet. (the special costumes and titles for the characters) (and yes I know you have to go to the item menu in the game and activate them)
I'm guessing that you have to wait until after the prologue to use them? (meaning once we get to the grown-up cast story) But what about Sophie's white costume she's seen wearing in the ToG f trailers, the webpage, and on the game case designs?

Yep, costume titles are only available in the present and future arc.
That costume you're referring to is the F part of the game, aka future part/new part.

Okay, I'm at end-game now and I have two questions:
1) Where is this storeroom that's supposed to have an item called pearly strings needed for one of the Katz village requests, that gets you a title for one of your characters when completed? The Wii version guide (there isn't any guide specifically for the PS3 version yet, and there's only one guide for the Wii version) says that it's "on the way to the throne room in Baronia castle, but I can't find anything like that anywhere.
2) How the heck do you beat the humanoid enemy at the shuttle crash site that you have to find with your shuttle's search feature? I can get the dang thing to zero HP, sure, but at that point it cuts loose some attack that insta-kills my entire party, no matter where they are on the field.
EDIT: Also, is there any way to get back the characters' default weapons if you ended up seeling them, at the time not knowing the fact that you need them to Dualize their ultimate weapons? :heh:
For the fight with Lambda's body, try equipping your characters with certain titles that grants you either half damage or (few sec) invincibility when certain conditions are met. Not quite sure but but i think the damage is fixed(?) and dependent on the difficult setting, so boosting your HP might help.
I pretty much gave up with the side quest, too much reading and had no clue what some word were, so good luck with that.

Please take your whining about platform choice elsewhere. It contributes nothing to the thread, and it annoys me. I don't go into threads to whine how a game isn't being released for the Wii.
Well, I know now. The person who made the topic could say there was one for PS3 too.

*sigh* So now I can't find the cat serratum seeds for Sophie's BC title. (and I believe it's the last seed I need for it, to boot) They're supposed to be in the cat village. but there's only one chest there (the password chest), and it's not in there. I've talked to every NPC there and examined everything that can be examined, and I have no idea where it is.
You get it as a reward for feeding the cats around the towns/villages some food (fish). After finding all of them around the world, you'll get it in the cat village.

After finding all of them around the world, you'll get it in the cat village.Erm, you totally missed my question. :p Although I guess I should have specifically stated that I'm in the village already (but I thought that was communicated when I said I talked to every NPC there :p); fed the cats, got the translator, everything.
But there are only two chests in the town, neither of which have the seeds. Which means I'm stuck and can't finish Sophie's quest.
And now another problem on the quest front; you're supposed to get Asbel's 25-hit combo BC when you beat the old guy at the card game on 30 cards, but I just got a title for Pascal and nothing for Asbel.
It looks like Namco made some major (and not very understandable) revisions for the PS3 version. So figure there isn't even a partial guide for it over on Gamefaqs. :(
It is not in a chest, there should be a stand with taiko drums, on the shelves, on the left side of the village. You should see something sparkling on the ground, between the chest and stand, unless they moved it in the ps3 version.
Maybe check if you already grabbed, it in your list look for "ネコマツシグラの種"

Check sophie's title and look for "花の母", think it was NO. 18 or 17. If it is not there. then you're probably still missing a seed.

However all of their dubs are of above-average quality so I don“t worry.

Well except for the japanese and asian/japanese version, that one didn't have english. IIRC there were at least 2 asian version, one was a repacked NA version, and the other a repacked Japanese version. But the one sold in NA and in PALand have dual streams.
Btw, i bought me a 360 just for that game, totally worth it. Ah dude, you just miss an opportunity last month or so, some stores were clearing it out and sold it for under £20, but it is all gone now and i don't think there is going to be a reprint soon, or at all. The game is from 2009, and was not a massive hit.

As for Vesperia... since it's very quiet on that front (on the dev side, the fans are rioting) I'm going to assume there won't be a US PS3 Vesperia, and that they only used the Vesperia logo because they needed something to disguise the Graces logo, and Vesperia was the first thing on hands.
I know it is region free, but I prefer a local version. :) I know I'm quite obstinate about it as I had already returned/resold games that I got that turned out to be US by 'accident'.

I'm gonna import, if we get a EU release, I'll likely get that too. ;P
The Tales of Graces Facebook page is titled Tales Series, I think this is a positive sign for future Tales releases.
...So Bamco when do you want my money?
And as for the ToV PS3, i wouldn“t lose hope completely. They did use the logo, so maybe they release it if ToGF does well or something.

I loved this game so much, I might actually get the US version in addition to the JP version I already have. :D At the very least, I'm going to get the game guide so I can use it with my PS3 version.
I really hope they at least keep the original JP opening theme in there. (those instrumental swap-outs they tend to put in suck :( ) I also hope they leave the JP voicing in, but I think that's a bit of a stretch; I've only seen a handful of PS3 games that have both the US and JP dubs.
Now, once again, the long, excruciating wait for the actual release..........

No, I'm going to bet that they put the English version of the opening in. I mean, the song already exists, so they have no reason not to use it. They did it in Vesperia, after all.
But yes, I'll definitely get the English version. I'm getting so excited that this is the first English Tales release in two years!
Also, I'd have to disagree about the voice acting- the English voice acting in a Tales game is always one of the highlights to me. It's one of the few cases where I like the English VAs just as much as the Japanese seiyuus. Heck, I actually stopped watching the Tales of the Abyss anime when I heard it was licensed because I want to see if it'll be dubbed, which I'd prefer to watch.

You mean put the JP version's theme in the english one? I'm not sure what you mean there otherwise, because there's no English version of White Wishes.

ToGf definitely has a good number of such lines in its battle results chat scenes. Granted, this problem will still exist even if they keep the JP dub since they would still have to make English subtitles for US players, but it would still help for those stateside who know Japanese and simply didn't get the JP version.

There is an English version of White Wishes- I have it on my IPod. It's definitely on YouTube. Go ahead and look for it.

Eh, I would have much preferred Vesperia's PS3 version. Graces is fine and all, but it doesn't look nearly as good. :heh:
Wish they hadn't trolled us like that. It's astoundingly unprofessional.

Told myself I'd try these if they ever got localized for PS3. Guess I'm going to have to. xD;
Not a bad series, but IMO, it's no Kingdom Hearts.

So Namco troll us by putting Vesperia logo on those distorted images. smh
