Ending CD, Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari, went on sale on Aug 12th in Japan
Amazon.co.jp will not be shipping out part of the preorders until the 20th of August :(
Kinokuniya Bookstore in San Jose, CA received a shipment of the ltd edition this morning (Aug 12 PST)...there were 2 copies around 6pm today when I went to pick up my preorder. Probably means the San Francisco and Los Angeles stores received copies as well. I think there are stores in Chicago and NY as well, for those that are interested. LTD edition was $19.xx pre-tax.
imho, easily the best OP/ED of this season...if you're not dead set on getting the sticker with the ltd edition, the normal release (no PV DVD) is a reasonable option. I haven't watched the DVD yet, but I hear the video intself was rather disappointing.
Innit an R2 DVD, though? I mean, I've always been a bit hazy on the details of region locking, but...

It should be an R2 DVD...atleast, there was a warning label on mine stating so. My DVD players are JPN region so can't check for you if it's region free or truly an R2 DVD.
Two days, and I'm still waiting for my Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari shipping… :(
Bakemonogatari will be getting Nendoroid Petit (http://akibahobby-c2.sakura.ne.jp/image/20090814/c003.html) set. First set will be consist of Araragi Koyomi, Senjougahara Hitagi and Hanekawa Tsubasa. No release date specified. Source is today's Comike (via 2ch Nendroid thread).

Well... you are probably a little bit too optimistic :D (And Bakemonogatari is probably a too good series to sell that much in this time and age :upset:).
I would be pleased with an average of 10k copies on the oricon chart (with this level the adaptation of other Novels would be probably granted) equally divided between DVD and BRD.

I was also thinking along the lines of 10k BD+DVD together, similar to Kannagi sales. Maybe just a little more, but I would love to see this selling better then K-on.
The ending single sold well, shows with good opening/ending sales usually indicate a good DVD sales, as long it's not Mizuki Nana's wotas buying her CDs whatever the anime is. But then Supercell/Ryo is pretty famous for their/his vocaloid songs, so that probally boosted up the CD sales.

I'm expecting over 20k for both formats combined... the books have sold like 60,000 copies since the anime aired, those sales driven by the anime and these books are pricey for light novels.. Cd single sold very well and along with Umineko its the most talked about show from the summer season on 2ch. Generally the most discussed shows on 2ch sell very well... Also aside from Frontier, Geass r2, Gundam 00 and K-on! what anime titles have dominated Amazon pre sales like Bake has?
Either way it's easily going to be the best selling show SHAFT have done and seeing how SHAFT are so sequel happy anyway.. the rest of the light novels being animated is more a question of when not if.

It should have six DVD/Blu-ray. There are also six of them in Amazon page. I think the episodes may be distributed like this.
Hitagi x 2, Mayoi x 3, Suruga x 3, Nadeko x 2, Tsubasa x 3 and Tsubasa x 2.
Edit: Wow! When I write this, all six Blu-ray are in the top ten of Amazon page. Very impressive.

There's a goods page at the official website
http://www.bakemonogatari.com/goods/index.html
Some interesting stuff....
In Blu-ray Vol.1, the second sound channel commentary by Senjogahara and Hanekawa was funny.
It is another dialog play or commentary by the scenario of NISIOISIN.
For example, the scene where Senjogahara and Hanekawa review Araragi who is playing with Hanekawa's breast using the pencil was funny.
In the scene where Senjogahara inserts a stapler in Araragi's mouth, the hand of Senjogahara came out all over with slobber, and she was severe.
It is precious because the conversation of Senjogahara and Hanekawa was not watched until now.
For example, the scene where Senjogahara and Hanekawa review Araragi who is playing with Hanekawa's breast using the pencil was funny.
So it's a long dialogue like in the preview and not short skit like Hyakumonogatari? The character commentary sounds really fun, a lot of people in 2ch thread are also praising it that this alone "worth buying Blu-ray for". I wonder how good it is.
On a related note, looks like the BDs and DVDs are getting ([url=http://www.senakablog.com/archives/2009/09/_bluray_dvd1.html) out (http://www.akibaos.com/?p=5793) of (http://akiba.kakaku.com/hobby/0909/29/214500.php) stock (http://blog.livedoor.jp/geek/archives/50890363.html) everywhere (http://ascii.jp/elem/000/000/464/464108/) right on the first day. Sales for the first week will probably be a disappointing number due to this.

It's good. 51 minutes of constant dialogue between Tsubasa and Hitagi, discussing things happening on-screen (and off). Mayoi's arc will be done by Tsubasa+Mayoi.

I don't know about the next pack, but this one definitely had full commentary for both episodes. 5 minutes spent on talking about lazy/diligent ant ratio. Hitagi asking Tsubasa to marry her. Koyomi's height. Stationery mania. Lots of stuff.

What!? So, she rejected Suruga because Suruga wasn't her type right? :heh:
Well she comments that both Karen and Tsukihi, and basically everyone else, would want her to be their wife too;). She also notes that Koyomi copped a feel when he caught her in ep1:heh:.
P.S. According to both Hitagi and Hanekawa, Koyomi's teeth are incredibly sexy...
Hanekawa: Araragi-kun's explanation here is pretty rough. Like you, it's like he has no desire to explain anything. I'm surprised that you followed him.
Hitagi: Seeing it onscreen like this, I feel the same way, but I guess I just believed him at the time. He's somehow very convincing. Actually, after seeing those teeth, any woman would just follow him.

I actually meant that Hitagi figures that everyone would want to Hanekawa to be their wife;). It's just a joke about how perfect Hanekawa is.

Wait...which is which?
For the vertical comparisons, top is TV, bottom is DVD. For the horizontal ones, left is DVD and right is TV.
DVD sales for the first week is 15,513 copies sold as reported by Oricon.
Have to wait two more weeks (I think) for Blu-ray numbers.
That's impressive. I was expecting less (I didn't notice Gintama was a film and non the regular TV series).
BRD sales are usually similar to the ones of DVD (with a similar edition) given that aniplex printed enough.
Didn't they only ship 25k in total for DVD & Bluray Sirn? Have they fixed their stock shortage problems for week 2?
Oricon cover only around 50-60% of distribution (figures), if I remember well, so 25k for both version are unlikely (maybe is the first shipment).
I checked the daily ranking and Bakemonogatari (oricon) was always in the chart (since 10-29 was 3th, 4th, 4th, 3th, 5th) so I dunno about shortage...
Not yet, the official site (http://www.bakemonogatari.com/info/) says they'll start shipping both Blu-ray and DVDs again in the next week. Even though, normally Blu-ray sales are roughly the same as DVD, this means the total sales of the first volume alone is already over 30,000 copies sold. Another rumor says the Blu-ray and DVD ratio for this series is 6.5:3.5, would be very interesting if it's true: 15513*((6.5/3.5)+1) = 44322

The shortage is pretty bad, as far as I know. Blu-rays, DVDs, normal edition of DVDs are all out of stock in most store. It's not possible to buy anything unless you've reserved it beforehand. At the very least, mine got delayed to at least the next week. :(
Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari, on the other hand, hit 69,153 mark in this week.

The rumor is true (http://animeanime.jp/news/archives/2009/10/bd_29000.html), first week's Blu-ray sales is 29,000 copies. Total sales of the first week is about 44,500 copies, already surpass first week's K-on sales (41,000 copies). Congratulations.
Wow. Great news. Hopefully, it will lead to more, in the coming years... :D
Does that mean now Bakemonogatari has the crown for highest first week sales for a TV anime?
That's really unexpected... I would imagine they would be a lot more had the publishers stocked up. Maybe they didn't even expect it.
(I didn't notice Gintama was a film and non the regular TV series).
Gintama is TV series. The special DVD is just out before (well it just more and less trolling by sunrise if you already see the content :heh:)
Does that mean now Bakemonogatari has the crown for highest first week sales for a TV anime?
This year, yes. All time, no. Second to only Gundam SEED Destiny, I think.
Oricon also published the article (http://www.oricon.co.jp/news/rankmusic/69623/full/), the last line says: "As for the Blu-ray Disc ranking, 'Bakemonogatari Vol.1 Hitagi Crab (Limited Edition)' took the first place with 29,000 copies sold."

It's from the Jump Anime Tour in 2005 and 2008 event screenings. The release itself is basically an OVA, not a TV release.

It might make sense for SHAFT to wait until a novel coming out next year is out before the doing a prequel series. Kizumonogatari + Tsubasa's Golden Week as the next season and than the two sequel Nise novels as the 3rd.

But that would push completion well into 2012 ... why not stick with unfinished TV broadcast with the material at hand?
Also Koyomi Vamp could make an excellent movie :heh: that's speculation :uhoh:
Actually, I think Kizumonogatari should be a season by itself. I mean out of all the books, I think it has the most battle-scenes and those can take up a lot of time if they want.
But that would push completion well into 2012 ... why not stick with unfinished TV broadcast with the material at hand?
Actually it wouldn't be complete since there's a another light novel being released in 2010 called Kabukimonogatari. I'm just thinking it would be best to group the two prequels together (since most readers say Kizu should be read before the sequels) and the two sequel Nise books as the third season.
Though they will probably animate them in the order they were released.. so maybe Kizu & Nise I & II as a two cour season. And than Kabukimonogatari and Nekomonogatari for a third season.

But still, without even the first webcast there is no ground to predict, it's just the momentum from the high sales :heh:
Kizumonogatari is more suitable for a movie, I think. I want to see a movie-grade action-scenes. :p

I just hope Hitagi Crab is back in stock by the time the second disc is released since I'm ordering 2 discs at a time to save on shipping...
About Kizumonogatari though, a lot of it is still dialogue and internal monologue so they may still be able to do awesome action scenes:). And they may get a big boost in funding since Bake is such a hit;). One can always hope:heh:.

I ordered BD 1-6 from amazon.jp and they shipped on release date w/o any extra shipping fee. It's not like buying the MF BDs anymore when they charge you to ship it out seperately.
Hitagi Crab DVD (I don't know about BRD) is first today on the oricon daily chart

it was 7th yesterday, and around 20th in previous day.
I guess the restock is complete... and it's still selling like hotcakes :D
That sudden jump is a result of Amazon.co.jp's shipping, though they went out of stock again. I guess they're leftover of the first shipment from Aniplex. Restock will be done in this week.
Confirmed sales from Oricon for Vol.1, will have to wait for 2nd week sales for Blu-ray though.
BD 29,372

Bakemonogatari has beaten Haruhi first season sales. Should we all celebrate?
#7 Suzumiya Haruhi 41307 units
Very impressive sales, and I love Haruhi getting a boot to the face. Suck on that, Kyoani.
Bakemonogatari has beaten Haruhi first season sales. Should we all celebrate?
Hmm if that list was updated Haruhi would now be behind Bakemonogatari (56,475 after 1 vol) Macross Frontier (44,178 avg) K-ON! (43,980 avg after 3 vols), Code Geass R2 (41,332 avg).
Keep in mind that even if Bake Vol 1 finishes at around 60,000 it's avg could fall down into the 40k range. There is usually a big drop off from Vol 1 and the rest of the series, as you can see comparing these first vol sales to the avg sales they did.
Macross Frontier Vol 1 = 64981
2008/07/25 30,239 Vol. 1 (Three versions of Episode 1)
2008/07/25 34,742 Vol. 1
Code Geass R2 Vol 1 = 59041
2008/08/22 39,907 Vol. 01 (One episode)
2008/08/22 19,134 Vol. 01
I think Bake won't get affected as much as usual though.

Personally, I think sales for the other arcs will rise, I mean I feel the second arc was the best out of the five(fifth pending jugdment) and the fourth arc has episode 10 where people would be dying to see the "complete" version.

Macross and Geass (and gundam 00 too) are top tier Bandai series with a wider range of audience and impressive promotional coverage (not that Bakemonogatari seem to lack in the latter). They tend to drop rapidly after the first volume, they have cheaper editions and first volume is usually sold at a very low price, compared to more otaku oriented products (especially Kadokawa Shoten ones). Otaku/Fujioshi oriented anime tend to sell constantly, or they may drop something but not as much, in proportion, as mainstream ones (lets say title with a wider appeal). Haruhi is one of them (and it's even peculiar because of the massive shortage at the time), but we can also consider other Kyoani works, or other famous title like Nanoha.
And it's not too healthy to stick with Oricon data: a lot is missing (look at BD sales, or older titles) and the chart system may be tricky, especially for DVD sales. Last but not least Oricon doesn't cover the whole market, I know for sure is around 60% for manga distribution, but I've no idea of video department: Kodakawa declared to have sold, one year after commercialization, 800k of Suzumiya Haruhi's DVD (100k for volume) while Oricon figures are a lot lower.
Kodakawa declared to have sold, one year after commercialization, 800k of Suzumiya Haruhi's DVD (100k for volume) while Oricon figures are a lot lower.
From my experience with video game and music cds (video game and hiphop sales are serious business!) when companies talk about figures it's what they have shipped and not actually physically sold. You see stuff like that new Batman game has sold 2 million copies worldwide but when you look at sales figures it's nowhere near that. It's sold/shipped 2 million to retailers, same when music cds get certified platinum in America, they've have sold/shipped 1 million copies to retailers while they have only sold 800,000 etc. Also UFC claim their PVPs sell around say 500,000 when they're rumored to do around 150,000.. some companies exaggerate... I'll be surprised if Kodakawa aren't doing the same thing... though it clearly doesn't make up for all of the 60,000 gap between Oricon and their figures.
And in my experience not even NPD or Chartrack cover the 100% of their assigned market. Overprinting in a niche market like anime may be fatal, of course they are probably boasting but the difference is to wide.
Other case I remember are: Aria (Natural and Animation) 20k for volume (the data is from the fusion between Mag Garden and Production I.G.), Gundam Seed Destiny was around 120k average and Bandai declared (over) 100k copies for Geass R2 (Vol. 1 and 2) and Macross F (Volume 1) and a total of 800K for Geass first season (DVD only).
For example I know Oricon get the data from Tohan for the Manga Chart, which is the main distributor but not the only one (Taiyosha for example should cover around 30% of the market). Thats where, probably, most of that difference lay (that and the chart thing, where title may sell something but are not counted).
So yeah! A serious business! ;)
Well, technically aren't the publishers selling their products to the retailers, who then sell them to the customers for a markup? From that point of view, shipping things to stores does count as selling them. It's just that the stores get to return the unsold ones for a full refund.

And those unreturned one are still counted in the figures if we go by what companies tell us. It's like when Atari produced a really massive amount of E.T games back in the 80's.. it was a terrible game.. and there's rumors going around that they filled a tip with the returns which they buried lol.
As far as I know, anime medias are not returnable, and Oricon's market coverage for DVD/BD is 77%.
Anyway, the actual reported sales:
BD 29,372 +7,879
DVD 15,513 +3,590

Vol 2, it's obvious. Senjougahara fascination start from eps 5.
Vol 6, well, it's webcast and people will buy DVD/BD to watch the high quality video.

My Hitagi Crab disc just came, but they didn't have enough discs from their initial shipment of Mayoi MaiMai so mine has been delayed a couple of days.

No the case.
The case that these things come in are sometimes really nice, neat and solid.
It will have cool art on it as well.
They decided to put all text label on a clear case and leave the actual package with only illustration and nothing else. Pretty nice.

DVD ranked 6th in the Oricon chart on the pre-sales day, but 1-5th are Arashi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arashi), EXILE (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exile_(Japanese_band)), TVXQ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TVXQ), Angels & Demons (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angels_&_Demons_(film)) and Porno Graffitti (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porno_Graffitti). Still a strong sales as usual, I think. The Blu-ray and DVDs also already out of stock in several places, the next schedule restock is on 30th.
Though, I would be surprise if the second volume sales isn't dropping from the first volume. There has been no 50k+ series that able to keep up first volume sales throughout all volumes.

Like I said before, it was the second arc that really pulled in the fans when many of them first considered the first arc to be slow. If anything, sales might be better than first volume.

Although the first half of ep2 brought in a some Hitagi-fans, it was really ep3 that people starting going "crazy" for her. The second arc thus, was the start of the craze. However, I still skeptical that it will increase DVD/Blu-ray sales compared to the first. It is hardly the case that "proceeding" DVDs outsell the "inital" one.

That may be the case, but you have to consider the "trial-buy" group. There's always a lot in that group, and they're always the main cause of the sales drop.
Anyway, the series ranked 8th on the sale day DVD ranking on the Oricon chart. Ranked 1-8th are roughly the same as yesterday's, but with How do you like Wednesday? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/How_do_you_like_Wednesday%3F) new in the chart and Downtown no Gaki no Tsukai ya Arahene!! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Downtown_no_Gaki_no_Tsukai_ya_Arahende!!) stays at the 7th. Both are Japanese variety shows.
9th is the first volume of Gintama 4th year, which marked 14k sales.

So the leaders of the charts are all boy bands and Dan Brown? How saddening.
So... the next volume's commentary will be Senjougahara and Kanbaru? The Valhalla combo? Should be interesting, although it kind of throws a wrench into my expectations of how it was going to go. Well, listening to Hanekawa calmly explain things forever was starting to give me a headache actually...

Since now buying DVDs/Blu-ray is for the sake of collecting or supporting the makers. If someone was a fan when they bought the first volume, maybe by the 3rd or 4th volume they're a fan of something else and don't want to waste money on the first series they bought. That's what I always thought. At least that happened to me many times when collecting manga.
So the leaders of the charts are all boy bands and Dan Brown? How saddening.
Japanese charts are ALWAYS dominated by boy bands. Especially all those Johnny's Entertainment ones. I find their boy band music...really really really catchy and make good background noise. But they totally suck when I just want to listen to music.

Only 4,000 until 70k! :heh: (The only recent TV series that ever pass that mark is Gundam SEED)
Mayoi DVD ranked 7th on the third day, Hitagi DVD marks one-month by returning to the list at 59th place. Gintama dropped from 9th to 13th, Haruhi makes her debut to the rank on the pre-sale day at 3rd.
Even with "only" that Bakemonogatari has the stronger first volume sales since introduction of DVD... after Gundam Seed series of course. :D quite the achievement
and.. uh? Blu ray sales are rising again? :twitch: Hitagi Crab is still healthy (even the DVD is often in the daily top20 anime chart).

The best thing for high sales is that the production company can finally have a chance get out of the "we're barely keep the business running → more works → lower quality" loop and strengthen their production, which I hope Shaft will learn their lesson and finally do so. :)

Conversely, they'll learn that they don't really need all that much money to make a mega-hit and try to get absurd profits by cutting costs.

I don't know about that, but Hitagi Crab volume alone can almost surpass their overall last year's (Oricon-reported) sales. It's 1200% increase, judging from the numbers alone.

Judging from the BD/DVD release, it's funny to see that they've replaced real-life photo with actual drawing. It's surprising because people originally think that they want to be arty. But it's actually because they want to save production cost. :heh:
LOL When I think about it, some people tend to think at it as an art too. Is this "may be may be fraud" from Zetsubo sensei? :D

That was not my case so I'm happy. But there is actually some of these sequences well executed and meaningful, like Hitagi's flashback (which is, for the most part, untuched). Too bad the sequence made from animator's lunch is still there, but I have not watched Mayoi MaiMai yet (which was full of cheap sequence made from real photos).
How rare is it for the second volume of a series to go UP? I mean jeez they are just storming people's wallets. Atleast there is no excuse for not doing a sequel now.
This is interesting times for shaft especially during a global recession.
So it's seems vol. 2 was the is the best selling tv anime BD volume with 39,000 discs sold so about 58,000 discs sold in the first week. I think Kizu and Nise is all but guaranteed now.

I expect the series to avg about 60 000k plus

While I'm very glad that Bakemonogatari is doing so well, I don't think that its full marketing potential is realized at this point. It probably have nothing to do with the studios themselves, but it's very obvious that if Bakemonogatari start merchandising like Haruhi, Lucky Star, or K-ON, it's very possible that the revenue might increase 3-4 folds.
But whether mass merchandising like that is a desirable circumstance for the fans is a debatable subject.

Why not? The fans that would buy series merchandise get what they want, the studio/sponsors make money, everyone wins.

Hmm...
What merchandise do you mean?
You mean figure merchandise?
I think that figure will not bring any income to studio, but instead to the producer like Aniplex in this case... CMIIW...
Besides, this is still early. For a non moe-type show to get a figure, normally it will takes 6 months to make a figure.
In case you dont know... Bakemonogatari Nendo Puchi is on scheduled to release sometimes in the future... Check previous page for its prototype...

The studio is credited in the copyright declaration for the series, so yes, they will get the share from all merchandise made.

Where did you guys purchase the Hitagi Crab DVD/BluRay from? (yes, I see the links in the first post; however I am just wondering who you guys trust the best and have had the best experiences with, as North American buyers).
As a Canadian, I would select 'Region 2', correct?
Also, how does the special edition DVD/Blu-Rays differ from the regular edition to justify the price increase? Is it the addition 'post card-like' inserts?
Finally, is there a difference between the Blu-ray limited edition and the DVD limited edition aside from what player supports them?
Thanks for your valuable time!

Once a month - they've started shipping the Suruga Monkey preorders already. The 2nd disk of Tsubasa Cat is due on Feb 24th.
Artbook wise, the only thing I've heard of is the Official Guidebook (http://www.hmv.co.jp/en/product/detail/3627380), which is meant to be a limited release. It was pretty much sold out at official retailers by the time I heard of it.
@Dragon-Emperor:
I'm from Germany, so I could speak as a North American Buyer, but I used Amazon.co.jp for ordering my Blu-ray LEs. In the past I also had good results with play-asia.com and yesasia.com.
The Blu-rays of Bakemonogatari are region free but Japanese Blu-rays should always run on North American Players because both are Code A.
The DVDs are probably region 2 and Canada is region 1.
I only own the LEs of the Blu-rays so I can't say anything about the contents of the other versions.
@brocko:
They are released monthly. Vol. 1 and 2 are available and 3 should be available in a couple of days.
I ordered Hitagi Crab and Suruga Monkey from CDJapan, apart from being delayed sometimes I have no problem at all. And looks like my Suruga Monkey Blu-Ray already arrived.
Contents between limited editions and regular ones are the same, both versions contains audio commentary as far as I know; the limited goods are opening singles and Shaft-traditional endcard illustrations.
Amazon.co.jp's delay is worse than many other stores though the discount sometimes worth it.

Wow...CDJapan ships real early!
@Dragon-Emperor:
I've never had a delay from Amazon.co.jp myself, unless an item's actually out of stock when I order it (they're terrible at estimating delivery times of such items). I've also heard that they've recently changed the way they mark the contents so that US residents might get customs charges for DVDs.
I've personally never used it myself, but I've heard that YesAsia (http://www.yesasia.com/global/en/home.html) is good if you're only buying one DVD at a time.
I like that amazon.co.jp has changed how they ship things when you order stuff with different release dates. They now ship each disc as it is released with no additional charge even if you choose the ship in as few shipments as possible option. This is a nice change from when I bought the Macross Frontier discs.
I haven't gotten the email about delays from them yet so I hope mine ships on time this time.
I also experienced the same like ickem. I made a large order for some Bakemonogatari Blu-rays and some Haruhi DVDs and they seem to ship everything via express without an additional shipping charge one day before the official release. It normally takes ~3 days until it arrives.
Hmm, so it seems like they've changed their shipment since the last time I ordered something. Or maybe my last time was just out of luck that it went out of stock. Will try ordering Nadeko Snake from Amazon. Thanks for the info!

Any noticeable difference between the BD and the TV episodes? I remember hearing that the third arc would have new scenes added to the episodes, but it could have just been a rumor
I think so far there are mainly cosmetical improvements, but many of them are quite apparent. This (http://blog.goo.ne.jp/sweet-lovely/e/daaa56155c5fff30687d538e3fd55f03) Japanese site has a comparison.
The previews were also replaced with previews that actually show content of the next episode.
I suppose that the third act will have more improvements because of the many missing scenes in the broadcasted version. I think they won't risk angry fans if the scenes are still missing. They now have too much to loose^^

Sorry, I wish I could do that, but I don't own a Blu-ray player and still haven't picked it up at the post office… though I'm sure there will be a comparison images tomorrow.
On a slightly related note, vol.4's audio commentary will be hosted by Sengoku Nadeko and Oshino Meme.

Partly for collection, but I'm going to buy a PlayStation 3 at later date anyway. From what I've gathered about the corrections; they seems to replace some of text cuts in the fighting scene with an actual fight.

My Hero, You can totally tell they made so many corrections
So I finally got around to listening to the audio commentaries for Suruga Monkey and I've found the Valhalla Combi to be the most enjoyable so far.
Kanbaru: Between being a good woman and being a bad woman, you would be a bad woman, right?
Hitagi: Not at all. A woman such as me would not be called a bad woman, but a sinful woman.
Kanbaru: Then you are a fine woman...
Hitagi: Don't treat me like a hentai meister. It's true that I taught you ero, but I don't remember teaching you to be a pervert.
Hitagi talks about how she wants to leave her underwear lying around to see Koyomi's reaction and Kanbaru tells her that it probably wouldn't be too special since he doesn't do so when he cleans her room:heh:.
Hitagi: You showed my boyfriend your underwear?
Kanbaru: Oh, part A is over.
Hitagi: Your life is over as well. (the tone of her voice is what really made this line:heh:)
Hitagi: The composition of this ending is wonderful.
Kanbaru: I think so too. I'm quite taken with it.
Hitagi: This image where it seems that I am the ruler of everything is the best. (the part where everything revolves around her)
She then tells everyone to assume the pose of the ruler. Kanbaru does so and says she really does feel like a ruler, but her arms feel like they'll get tired.
Hitagi: This is the pain of being the Supreme Being.

For November 16-22 the DVD sales for vol 2 was 817 and Blu-ray was 1,412. Total sales for it overall is 65,636. These are the stats for week 3, personally I think it's going to be hard for it to break 70,000 but we never know.
Stats (http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=tbVnz8ulTP5t0wBasaCw6sA&output=html)
Vol 3's first week dvd sales are 18,607 which are only 124 copies less than Vol 2's first week dvd sales, amazing retention rate if the Bluray is similar to vol 2's sales as well.

They don't mention that there were supply problems with the other discs, particularly the first one though. That's the main reason for the the big difference in sales for week 1 between the first and third discs. Though I guess I'm expecting too much from the small blurb in mainichi. Yuma's excuse on Sendenman blog (http://playlog.jp/sendenman/blog/2009-12-02) (why not the official blog?): "the decision was done because more time is needed in order to create even more completed version of Nadeko Snake". I don't mind the delay if they're going to put the omitted part at the beginning of Nadeko Snake back.

I think you are on to something here... Perhaps they initially just doing minor touch up for the disc release but the good sales probably gave them the incentive and the means to actually carry out the extensive redo. And hence the delay.
Nah, I think Shaft has overloaded themselves with work ;p
They've also pushed back the Natsu no Arashi 2 DVDs by about three weeks (http://www.starchild.co.jp/special/natsunoarashi2/dvd_info.html).

Well honestly IMO if Shaft released blu-rays/DVDs of Nadeko snake 1 and 2 with minor modifications it would be extremely disappointing since Nadeko snake's animation is really bad.

No......no animation company is indecent enough to release just MINOR touchups.

Ooo. Do want those nendoroids. 2100 yen is affordable. Never realized until now that Hanekawa has a different tie from Senjougahara.

Besides from BD/DVD and Nendoroid Petit, I want to ask that are there any other merchandise which already released or plan to release in the future? Judging from the popularity of the series, Bakemonogatari has awfully few merchandise. No full figure for any character, no official artbook or any stationery that Hitagi used. Just look at K-On! I really can't count how many Mio figures now. :eyebrow:
WTH! I want to hug Hitagi pillow cover! :heh:

I remember back in the day when I was wondering why there aren't any K-ON! figures yet. Now they just keep on coming. xD
I really really hope an official artbook comes out. Vofan is pretty friggin amazing.
Last weeks sales
Bluray
*2, 2,090 43,409 Bakemonogatari vol.3 Limited Edition
DVD
16, 1,710 *20,137 Bakemonogatari vol.3 Limited Edition
Anime sales generally are very front loaded from what I've seen and with stock issues finally fixed I guess this is going to be the way the rest of the series sells from now on.
And the total sales figures for BR Vol 1 and 2 as of last week as well.
*5, **,638 46,273 Bakemonogatari vol.2 Limited Edition
*6, **,589 50,175 Bakemonogatari vol.1 Limited Edition
What never fail to amaze me is how hitagi crab still selling quite well after 10 week (to bad the previous week BR chart was loaded and it didn't make it for, probably, few copies).
Let's see... Hitagi Crab is now over 50K for Blueray version.
