View Full Version : Post Your Spoilers, Speculation, News, etc.... for Darker Than Black
The purpose of this thread is to gather all the spoilerific news that may shed light on future episode content from the official site, their blog, or the ongoing manga, or any speculation based on an episode content such as the body Mao is in from the end credit in episode 2.... ;) ...or any other source for that matter. That way the knowledgeable and the shrewd won't have to suffer from potential explosion they are so vulnerable to for keeping those juicy news all to themselves for too long.

I guess that Shikkou no hana its the bridge between first and second season. I think that the OVA`s will be about the story in the manga. Megane Hei was in the promotional images from second season, and in the manga, al most at the same time we could see a megane Hei.
So, its very probable that the end of shikkou no hana would be about Yin dead, vanish or anything that happened to her. What do you think?
Manga discussion:
With the Shikkoku no Hana, Hei is currently tracking down, and fighting, this weird long-haired Jesus dude straight out of Persona 3, who can 'infect' people with the black flower he carries, which originated from within Hell's Gate. And his contractor power is to liquefy people.
Meanwhile, Hei is snuggling with Yin when they aren't working. They're obviously traveling around the world, as he mentions to her at one point that he is running out of knives and masks. Misaki is investigating the trail of melted bodies that the Contractor has left behind, and she's seeing signs of BK201 everywhere as well.
As Kashima mentioned, I think it's a prequel to season two, and most likely will explain just what happened to her. We know from Ep. 2 of the anime that something happened to Yin in a gray, dusty place, with dead bodies lying everywhere, and a clean-shaven Hei racing towards her going NOOOO. In the manga, he's a wanted man and as far as I can tell, he has no specific alleigance to a group, unlike in S1 where he was aligned with the Chinese Syndicate, while in S2, he's a pawn of the CIA.
The setting for Yin's 'death' seems like something within a Gate... and the main focus of the manga is on the mysterious contractor. So something, apparently, will happen to Yin inside the gate.
Anime speculation:
At this point, I'm inclined to think that Yin is dead. If she was still alive, Hei would be ripping shit apart trying to find her, not lost and dissolute, being the CIA's bitch while looking like a drunken hobo. She'll be the Bai of Season Two--something, someone, that he longs for, searches for, but knows is lost forever. And Suou will increasingly take that place, as a friend and companion, someone to trust.
I think that Suou and Hei go on a journey of sorts, most likely to hunt someone down. She's probably seeking Shion, and Hei probably seeks him too--so he tags along, protecting her as she leads him to her twin. Of course, Hei being the nice guy that he is, will eventually grow to care for her as a friend, and the final episode will feature him trying to save her while completing whatever mission he's on.
I predict a sad ending, unfortunately. Well, it's been pretty sad from the start for a Yin fanboy like me. :heh: But unless there's growing pressure for a third season, I think Hei will go out with a bang, and we'll see a shot of Suou trudging away from where he died, rifle in hand, carrying on his legacy.
Oh, and I guess they'll go back to Japan for a bit? Almost no reason for Misaki to be in the OP, unless they jaunt back to Tokyo.
I think the reason why he is cooperating with the CIA may have to do with what transpired in the past in regards to Yin. Seemingly the obvious course of action would be to do a flashback of some sort in the middle of the series to fill in on the story with what happened to Yin.
I think there won't be a flashback, because the OVAs are supposed to be what happened when some contractor attacked them, and take place between the two seasons.

Hobo Hei is cooler if you ask me.
As for speculation, I'd have to say that Suou is dead all along and is actually a replacement made by Shion when the comet crashed on them since we don't hear their dad call out to her and that we see an observer spirit from Shion's POV. That being said, I'm predicting Suou dies, Misaki gets some time with Hei but gets her memory erased and Hei leaves to do whatever he's been doing all this time. Hopefully they'll animate Hei using his powers at their full capacity.

That is a very interesting theory. It helps evaluate the death of Suou's father if he is indeed killed by someone else other than Suou, most likely by Shion himself.

I concur! You've written about 90% of the plot except for the twists we don't know. Predictable, but isn't all that bad (now if only Yin isn't dead - I'm guessing she is too).
So now that it is official that Hei lost his Power and Suou seems to have some kind of contractor ability now, I'm beginning to think that Suou will be dying at the end instead of Hei like I previously thought. I think Hei will go through the season without his power and then at the end he'll get it back or well something like that anyway.
Also it looks like Hei has already double crossed and disappeared from the CIA's sight judging by the CIA guy asking the information seller woman where he was.

Maybe it's just me, but doesn't the guy at the end of the episode who sits to talk with the lady at the cafe look a lot similar to November 11? Minus the hair of course, and their VA's are different.

Yup.
I wonder who that 'she' is, that Mao refers to when he tells Hei about who he's serving. "You know who she is." Amber?
I honestly bet its the information seller woman. She has the creepy twins with her too.
A rumour says that "that woman" of the episode 3 has already featured in the Season 1. If the rumour is correct, the prime suspect would be Mina, a female researcher who worked for Pandora (ep12-13, S1). She also appears in the DtB manga.
Also, Yin's voice actor recently wrote in her blog that she voice-acted in this season. So Yin is expected to appear in episode 7 or 8. But I don't think it necessary means that Yin is alive.

Oh, very nice. Doesn't sound like she had very many lines though, judging by the past tense. :heh: Or do they record everything before it airs?
"Episode 7 or 8" in the previous post is totally my guess. I think the show will be geared up after episode 5 or 6 (the current cr*p writers will be gone by then) and the story will advance at much quicker pace. Probably Yin is saved for that. Anyway, what is certain at this stage is that the voice actor started to be involved in the show again from this week.
ps. Woops! What the voice actor is talking about could not be Season 2, but 5-episode-OVA which is planned for early next year. Let's wait and see.

Speculation to DTB S2, ep 2,3.
I havent read in here, yet but will do it afterwards.
Hei's star fell. I think and if i remember correct, it was never his star. It was the star of his sister, Pai, who always have been "in" Hei. So basicly, Pai got killed. Thats why the star fell and (it looks like) Hei lost his contractor abilities.
I think other people may have thought the same but not sure, if this makes realy sense.
Etoooooo the star never fell...

I found the digests of forthcoming episodes. Usually producers would omit important events from digests, so please take these episode digests lightly.
Ep 06. Title: Sweet Fragrance, Bitter Heart (Script by Mari Okada)

Ep 07. Title: TBA (Script by Shinsuke Onishi)
Hei and gangs are trying to move from Hokkaido to Honshu. However, all the transportations are under control of the chasers. So Hei tries to escape relying on a backalley courier company. Ep 08. Title: TBA (Script by Shinsuke Onishi)
In a luxury overnight express train for Tokyo (Casiopeia), Suou meets Tanya again. The time for settlement is approaching for them. On the other hand, Lepnin, Tanya's boss, requests Hei a certain deal, threatening passangers' lives with bombs set up in the train.
Ep 09. Title: TBA (Script by Shinsuke Onishi)
Going through various hardships, Suou arrives in Tokyo. She is now looking for her mother who waw separate when she was young. Carrying mom's photo book in her hand, she randomly wanders the locations of photos. And finally she finds her mom's mansion near the Gate.

However, in my opinion, it is highly unlikely. When she uses her ability Hei is still moving, which implies that her ability is not time control.

Oh, is there a difference between the two? I had no idea.
When a star falls, it signifies the death of a contractor. When a star fades, the contractor goes into regression (e.g. Havoc from S1). Regressors temporarily lose their powers. In S1, Havoc tried to regain it by going near the gate but she ended up being too scared and failed and died soon after.
Well technically she didn't fail, she did reacquire her power but she was so terrified of feeling her power again that she basically had a meltdown. It's said after her death by Misaki that the Observatory confirmed her power returned. That's why we need to get Hei to the Gate to see what will happen!
This is a scene at the end of episode 25 of S1. It's Yin's observation ghost under a bridge.
http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/7861/yinf.jpg
Suga Shotarou, a writer of S1 and ODA, recently said this scene is a clue to understand what happened to Yin between S1 and S2. Probably a visit to the Gate caused her to change drastically.

I think the first time you see Yin change her spector into human shape is when she saves Hei from being lost in the black abyss at the end of Episode 25 season 1. I think this is the first time she really acted on her emotions and free will even as a doll, and therefore evolved beyond what a doll is. I think this added to the fact that she was also within the gate. It could also be that Bai powers somehow rearranged her molecular to something more than a doll.

I was thinking...
Izanami has de power to make contractor`s powers against them... to make them comite suicide... so, what if the only way "the bad guys" had to make her use it in a massive way was to take off Hei powers, so he wont be affecter by her powers....

about Mitaka Documents, I have a feeling that Mitaka document is basically Yin/Izanami. we now know a bit about the Mitaka Documents, and obviously it's something Amber left behind. in season 1, we had moment where Amber is alone with Yin, she could have told or left something to Yin.
my guess is, Yin got captured by some organization and they probably use ME squeezer to scan her brain to read the Mitaka documents.
other theory I had about Hei's lost of power and Suou as contractor. the anti contractor weapon that hit Hei is said to be further development from the prototype 2 years ago that Hei destroyed.
so during the scene where Hei lost his power, we got the anti contractor weapon, Hei's innate ability, and Suou's meteor fragment in one place. all this 3 present, force Suou to become contractor just like Hei gained his power. the difference this time is that the weapon broke halfway through the process so Hei's still exist (unlike Bai, who disappear) and Suou become somewhat half contractor. still retaining some emotion and still have to pay her remuneration.
Here are the digests for episodes 10&11.
EP 10: Your Smile in the False Street
From the conversation with mom, Suou gets to know the secret that has been kept in the past. Suou is shocked and her little body shivers. However, while Hei who she can rely only on disappeared, the prophesied future is approaching.
EP 11: Water dries and the Moon waxes.
Just arrived at the Sunshine Aquarium Tokyo, the final destination of the trip. And then... Hei decides to confront his deep scar from the past. The final stage of "memories of future" that is recorded in the Mitaka document is about to start.

・Suou's memory was transplanted by Dr Pavlichenko.
・Suou is a middle existense between human and doll.
・Oreille's objective is to eliminate all contractors.
・Shion and Dr Pavlichenko's objective is to doll-ize the entire mankind.
・Hei will shave in episode 9.

・Yin helps Hei, then she ...
・In episode 10, after realizing her secret, Suou becomes a complete doll-contractor and overruns into the massacre mode.

If those are true then Japan really has gender issues. Although....
Has it ever been stated somewhere, in exact words, that Shion is male? I can't actually think of a case for that now. And I was starting to think, after Suou is revealed to be SOMETHING in this past episode that she and Yin might be the bridges between dolls/contractors/normal people.

Shion is female? I don't think so, unless his/her remuneration is stop aging or stopped body growth. I certainly hope the spoiler is not true. I can see Shion's power as creating life, but then the other spoilers....Suou going into massacre mode, Madam and Shion's objectives etc. DO NOT WANT
If Madam Oreille's objective is to kill all contractors, why would she want Yin killed now? Yin is what's being used to kill contractors...

Unlike earlier episodes of S2, most names are same with S1 (You can check it in the ANN site). One notable exception is Okada Mari, a female writer, who will write the next episode. Well... we will see. Okamura Tensai, the series director, will do the storyboard job for the episode, so it must not be horribly bad. Anyway, it looks like she was introduced to describe Suou's development, so the next episode is likely to be largely about Suou's change after she got to know her secret (and was rejected by the woman who she has believed to be her mom).
ps. As for the rumor I posted, please don't regard it too seriously. Yes, it's plausible (especially the Shion part), which is the reason why I posted it here. But a rumor is a rumor until proven! :D So let's wait and see whether Suou will get mad and wield her gun randomly in the next episode.

My theorie is pretty much the same. I thought about whether we had an character like Oreille in the first season or not. And the only character with a similar apperance is Brita (the blond contractor woman of Evening Prime Rose with the ability to teleport). I am not sure whether she is dead or not. We have seen that the truck of EPR was destroyed, but we did not actually saw her dying, did we? Regarding her ability, she would have been able to escape in the last moment.
I think that they have pretty much the same apperance. They have the same hair colour, eyes colour, violet (not sure which colour this is in English) make up and the presence of a Vamp. You know what I mean? :heh:
Here are two comparison screens I made.
http://img710.imageshack.us/img710/3508/oreille.jpg
Oreille
http://img684.imageshack.us/img684/1376/brita.jpg
Brita
Both had contact with Amber and therefore the knowledge about the incidents. Furthermore, both seem to be American: Brita infiltrated the American embassy and Oreille is a agent of CIA. And the last evidence is that Oreille seems to be able to appear and disappear where and whenever she wants. And what kind of ability make you be able to to do this? Only time control or teleport. The age and the character (cold and calculating) would fit aswell.
But a point that does not fit is the question about the clothes. Why the hell are they not left behind? :heh:
Well, this is only a theorie. Let me know what you think about it. ^^
It could be that these similarities are just coincidences, but this would not be typical of Bones, because as we know in almost everything in the DTB story is bound together.
PS: This is my first post ever in English, I hope it is understandable. ^^

Anyone here made this speculation before?
I speculate that his abilities is to make a copy of any material object, alive or not, that he sees just by looking at it.
Some discussions regarding Shion led me to believe this though.
But then I also believe there are some things to be questioned about this, such as limitations to his abilities etc, and whether that is his actual ability when there are some questions that will be having a need to be answered, such as "Why didn't he copy _______ when he can do it?"

If the PTRD (or something..the gun that Shion used to shot Tanya) was a product of Shion's ability..noticed that there's a difference between the real gun that was used by Suou and the gun that was used by Shion. Maybe that's the limitation of his ability..he can't copy anything perfectly.
Scenario: Suga Shoutarou
Who is this ? o.o
What about the John Smith guy? The CIA agent seeking information from the Madam? He appears to be somewhat important (and voiced by George Nakata no less), and suddenly he disappears
I want to ask about this too. Even if Hei was gone from the CIA, this character shouldn't have dissappeared like he didn't exist @_@ I think his appearance will result in some major plot in the upcoming episodes...
I hope.
Although I still have a doubt on Shion's true gender, it looks like the rumor I posted was completely untrue. :uhoh:
Hm... Anyway, Suou's identity was revealed, so Shion's ability and objectives become main concern now. There are rumors, but I couldn't find an intersting one except this. Shion cannot only clone human body, but also copy and reproduce other things such as whale (ep10) and folded-paper crane (ep01). What about if he/she wants to copy and reproduce the Gate? This is a rumour hanging around at the moment.
However... whatever happens in next episodes, the conclusion of this season will be likely to be "a fangirl saved the world!", unfortunately. :eyebrow:
Oh, dear! They say that the net is vast and infinite, but sometiems it's quite opposite. :heh: Anyway, I don't mind if someone willingly credits my mistranslation and misspelling to their own mistakes. :D
I didn't know. It was given to me without credit. That isn't a problem. If you inform when it's yours. I will remove or add credit. My apologies

I thought he was going to copy Yin..with all that "don't let Izanagi and Izanami to meet" stuffs been going on. Reproducing the gates throughout the world might bring a new phenomone and create a new being, just like in the prophecy...perhaps ?
Hm, we're short for 1 episode and I can't wait to watch it ;_;
