AnimeSuki has received a request from TV Tokyo Medianet to stop linking to the following series:
Chi's New Address http://animesuki.com/series.php/1402.html
Chi's Sweet Home http://animesuki.com/series.php/1189.html
Fairy Tail http://animesuki.com/series.php/1510.html
Gintama http://animesuki.com/series.php/803.html
Gokujyou!! Mecha Mote Iinchou http://animesuki.com/series.php/1428.html
Golgo 13 TV http://animesuki.com/series.php/1213.html
Kirarin REvolution http://animesuki.com/series.php/854.html
Letter Bee (Tegami Bachi) http://animesuki.com/series.php/1504.html
Neo Angelique Abyss http://animesuki.com/series.php/1202.html
Neo Angelique Abyss: Second Age http://animesuki.com/series.php/1263.html
Otogi-jushi Akazukin TV http://animesuki.com/series.php/842.html
Shugo Chara! http://animesuki.com/series.php/1107.html
Shugo Chara!! Doki http://animesuki.com/series.php/1309.html
Zettai Karen Children http://animesuki.com/series.php/1198.html
AnimeSuki has complied with this request and has removed the mentioned series from the site.

Please note that TV Tokyo Medianet is a Japanese company that (as far as I know) does not directly release anime on DVD/BD in English (outside Japan), therefore these series should not be considered licensed for DVD/BD release without further notice (Neo Angelique Abyss was recently picked up by Sentai Filmworks). A significant number are available on Crunchyroll however, but not all are (examples: Golgo 13, Zettai Karen Children).

To quote xris from a previous C&D we received:As usual, can we please avoid any "I don't care because xxx sucked anyway" or for that matter "I hope xxx is licensed so I can purchase the DVDs". This thread isn't meant to be a wishlist of what gets licensed or not.

EDIT - November 2, 2009:
Seems like they missed one (or more accurately, we started listing this sequel series just after the previous C&D was sent) as we received an additional C&D today. The following series has now also been removed from the site: Shugo Chara! Party http://animesuki.com/series.php/1533.html

Was it only for these shows, or did the request notice mention anything about future releases?

The email we received (of which the headers have been analyzed; and it appears to be real) was fairly short and basically came down to "We own the rights the series mentioned below, please remove them". No mention was made regarding any series not listed in the email.

This is primarily the reason why I'm a proponent of moving away from the current model to the multi-RSS super search model that you had also envision discussed somewhere in the Forum & Site Feedback board.

Well, it seems clear to me that to fully "future proof" AnimeSuki (the site) it has to evolve somehow, as the current format doesn't work very well - it's like painting a bullseye on the site for companies to easily pick what they want removed. TT is more immune to this because it's harder to say "please remove everything from this page" with them.

Both sites however have the problem of working with a "push" model to present new content to visitors. A multi-RSS super search would allow for a "pull" model where users themselves pick what they want and the site can not (or less easily) be accused for inducing visitors to copyright infringement (which all fansubbing is, regardless of how you set your ethical/moral standards). Moving over to such a radically different model will take some time for visitors to adapt though, I think.

Anyway, I'm still very much interested in building such a feature and I was a little embarrassed to see it was already nearly 2 months ago that I proposed/agreed to it. I mainly spend that time developing a new feature for AnimeSuki's backend which automates adding new torrents to our database to a great extend (so you may have noticed certain new torrents appearing on the site much faster as usual). In hindsight I'm not sure if we'll be needing this (fairly complex) script in the future. But now that it's finished I can work more easily on other stuff (like this multi-RSS super search) again knowing that the site staff has less (tedious) work to do.

Or to get to the point (finally): I intend to start working on the multi-RSS super search asap.

Just FYI, since I'm pretty involved with this company:

TV Tokyo Medianet is a sub-company of TV Tokyo that handles the international licensing for a number of anime titles (of which all the ones listed are included). They do not distribute the anime themselves, but they are the ones who hold the international licenses or sell international licenses on behalf of other parties/production committees.

They also invest in a large number of anime productions. Most (not all) of the shows broadcast on TV Tokyo have some money invested in them by TV Tokyo Medianet.

I subtitle Tegami Bachi and Fairy Tail directly for that company.

so true

However a random thought.. I don't even know if that was put on those pages
Can't it be possible to have the pages listed but without any torrents and just a link to crunchyroll? :eyespin:

It's not really any harder than youtube. It's the same model as all other user submitted content sites, just a different object.

Well, most of those titles are on CR anyways. It shouldn't have been a big surprise to me that you'd get a C&D.

Did you even click at the links ? That's exactly how it works when you stop linking to the series. All downloads and torrents of the said series have been removed. Of course, the company can't stop AS from just listing a series on their site that links to ANN or CR or other things, as they're doing currently.

Well... they can *try* (as some companies have lunatically tried with misuse of copyright and C&D nonsense) but they end up looking even more stupid.

That is not what I meant with it D:
Doesn't Crunchy Roll have like a license for the show? I don't use that site myself but I just checked with for example Fairy Tail (since like I said I never use the site so I wanted to know if it has torrents or not), the site has its episodes streamed
But because Crunchy has a license for the show, wouldn't it be allowed to have the show in the list, without torrents and all that but just a shinny button that says that you can watch it there since Crunchy has some kind of license for it, wouldn't that be allowed?
That is what I meant, that the torrents and all are gone is obvious to me thank you

Not all the shows above are on CR. I think it's already as how you said for those that are:
http://www.animesuki.com/series.php/1510.html
- has the CR link and no torrent link
