Dark occultish

Whats a good anime thats dark, occultish but doesn't have the obligitory and constant monster fights?
Preferably one thats unlicense so that I can watch the fansubbed version.

St. Luminous Mission High School - mystery series.

you may want to list what you have seen in licensed or unlicensed series. I am thinking of gothic series, which are rare. The prohibition against monsters kind of leaves out stuff like

Gakkou no Kaidan
Mermaid's Forest

Yes, berserk. I was about to reccomend that myself. The manga however is more of the occult or delves into it than the actual anime.
