Hmmm... why do I feel like everything from the movie has been posted up here? :heh: Thanks darkaplatform!

1. What's the whole point of doing Black Bunny x White Bunny? I wonder if Black Bunny is a hologram... and then spliced together during the concert/performance.

2. So that's the 'Alto sucking on Sheryl's finger' scene. What he couldn't do in the TV series was realized here. No more v-type virus then. Oh, and this movie is making me associate AruSheri with a lakeside/seaside meadow... So, Alto is sky, Sheryl is earth (seems like that), and Ranka is outer space?

3. Alto shower scene Alto shower scene Alto shower scene I knew that there was gonna be a scene like that, but I wasn't expecting it from that angle.... No complains there though :D :D

4. Ranka fanservice -- in an orange bikini! Boy they were right -- this movie is filled to the brim with fanservice.

5. I kinda like the AruRan train scene. And Ranka looks older in the movie... much better :D I guess both girls get equal alone time with Alto. But Ranka would have an advantage here, because Alto is already aware that Ranka has feelings for him. And they're childhood friends, so at least some form of a relationship (platonic or otherwise) has been established.

Maybe because half of the movie is focused on Sheryl's mysterious background, they had to take a shortcut with the AruRan development. So, MF Movie: AruSheri development, happens during the course of the movie; AruRan development, already built up before the start of the movie.

6. May'n looks different here... prettier in fact? Ah who cares, I love May'n!

It was later corrected that he pushed her to the ground, which of course is also not okay. But it is a rather more "childish" ( i.e. innocent ) way of letting out his anger, instead of hitting her, which is the "mature" ( i.e. not-innocent ) variant.

The whole thing was in response to him getting ( false ) evidence that she was a spy for Galaxy. Although the whole "what exactly is she supposed to be spying about" thing hasn't been clarified yet.

Ah, well. Half a year or so until the DVD release....

It kind of makes sense her "real" VR self image should look nothing like her cyborg cover identity. After all, there are survivors of the previous incident on Frontier, and one of them might recognize her. It still doesn't explain why she didn't bother to go by a an alias on a covert mission, though, allowing Ozma to look her up on the Galaxynet in the series.

Ok so I think that the first movie will be a re-telling of the story that we saw in the anime and the second movie will be a continuation.

After having a macross marathon and having watched the entire series in 2 days( yeah I was really that into Alto-hime *fan girl mode on*) I think that the biggest thing in the story is how each character interacts with one another and the love triangle between Sheryl/Alto/Ranka...

Although I am a huge Sheryl/Alto fan!!! (yaaay)...Anyway I think that I read somewhere that the first movie will show us to whom Alto is more into. And personally I think that the person is Sheryl. He definitely has feelings for Ranka but that would be more like "I have to protect my little sister..." Or something like that. Throughout the entire series Ranka didn't give me that spark when she was with Alto only the that I was "can ypu stop clinging on hiom for just A single minute?" Although when I saw him with Sheryl I was seeing that chemistry between them, the passion... And I think that they have some things in common. Alto realized the passion for performing through the eyes of Sheryl.
Ranka did give him the hope to fly and the reason (yeah, yeah, protecting her) but Sheryl gave him the strength and the determination...After all he DID do a performance while piloting...Space and sky were his stage.
I don't know I think that the first movie that is going to come out will show that connection between Alto and Sheryl! I mean, I realy would like to see that and I also would love to see the ending of this triangle in the second movie...

Last edit: If it had focused on Alto/Ranka, it would have been promoted more in the trailers/artwork. Plus, it would have more fanart. So, there's no need to be worried. They have to make it a love triangle for the premise to work.

Just finished watching this series over a 2 day span. I never was a HUGE Macross fan but I loved Macross Zero and who doesn't love giant robot action? I loved this series and I definitely want to check out the movie. However I'm more interested in the second movie if it's going to be a sequel. Loved the whole filming of "Zero" part in the anime too since that's the one I'm most familiar with :D

If anyone else notice something strange with the scene selection you are also rigth, because it was not made by the fans but the staff.

I think someone asked a few pages ago about Alto being agressive with Sheryl, now we know he pushes her in some scene, in fact in the video i found we can see said scene, well maybe Alto pushing Sheryl to the ground hurted her more than we thought:

Fanart and artwoks are hardly a guarantee for the content of the thing.
At least, that's what my experience is telling me.

Now I don't know what to think about the triangle. I was a die hard Sheryl fan at the very first pic I saw of her and through the anime, but I'm being a bit bothered by the extra large ammount of promo she is getting. In the anime it was Ranka, Ranka, Ranka and some awesome Sheryl and still Sheryl wins the promo stuff.

I'd rather have the reverse. Less Sheryl artworks and more of her in the anime/Movie.

The first question, i have no idea since nobody has talked about the V-Type Infection in any other forum I checked.

于是坐在库蓝肩上的米歇尔，做了挑拨性的发言。

于是Alto战战兢兢地靠进。

「胡说什么啊！是银河歌姬Sheryl Nome的话，不会有询价之后就觉得阮囊羞涩买不起的物品」。

啪啪啪啪─。Sheryl仰起胸膛，听著迅速响起的拍手声。
貌似是因为在冬天的夜风中肚脐外露，肚子突然受寒了。

在这之后，与Alto约会的Sheryl是一次也不曾自己掏腰包。
「哼、那当然」。

被疾病纏身, 死亡一步步逼近雪露. 這樣的她, 在Island 1的街角與一名彈奏小提琴的老人相遇-----

曾經, 這裡充滿了活動的人們 ?
曾經, 這裡能看到彷彿無邊無際的青空.
曾經, 這裡是戀人互相傾訴愛語, 年青人描繪夢想的街道.
而現在, 只剩下整列的墓碑.
任何站在這裡的人都不能否認, 要看出這裡曾是人們生活的地方, 須要不少想像力.
過去曾被稱為”San Francisco”的街道破裂毀損, 到處充滿了巨大的石塊和玻璃碎片.
時間設定明明是中午, 曾經那麼熱鬧的街道如今連人影也不見一個. 只看的見像是背負著重擔的傾斜的建築物的殘影和從櫥窗裡露出來的破碎衣物, 或是更讓人悲傷之物.
雪露像是要把一切刻入心裡似的走在這凍結的街道.

(……沙塵還是很嚴重…)

當局已經盡快用淨化大氣用的微電子洗淨裝置處理崩塌的大樓所造成的大量砂石, 可是空氣中仍然充滿著燒焦的塵埃以及死臭. 雪露輕輕的戴上防沙塵口罩.

(如果連喉嚨都搞壞了, 有人一定會擔心…嘻嘻,不管怎麼樣一定會說 “不要跑來這種地方!” 然後生氣吧.)

少女把少年的名字像是貴重的寶石似的拿在手心中把玩.
明明只是不久前的事, 一切卻像遙遠的過去.
美星學園, 平凡的日常生活, 沒有意義的對話, 邊走邊吃的法式可莉餅, 櫥窗購物.
一旁的牆壁上貼滿了尋人的字條. 數不清的名字和呼喊, 靜靜的裝飾在一旁.

是了, 那個時候米海爾也在. 外向的金髮擊墜王.
明明是個無所畏懼又傲慢的花花公子, 卻守著自己的聖域不讓任何人踏入一步的浪漫的少年.
在這骯髒殘酷的世界裡, 裝著世故與老成, 以及用一點點的誠墾努力面對的他, 雪露感受到像同伴一樣的氣息.對他有著跟對有人不一樣的喜歡.
那個米歇爾現在也不在了.
船團內發生的大量Bajura的攻擊中, 他為了保護青梅竹馬的庫蘭, 被吸入宇宙, 死了.

那時蘭花也在.
神奇的翡翠顏色, 愛笑的年輕對手.
內向害羞, 像個孩子似的, 可是有著一但決定了就不會退步的堅強的, 強勁敵手.
像是這世間沒有污濁似的, 純淨強韌, 無邪的少女.
蘭花也離開了.
自己的歌聲被當做殘殺 Bajura的武器的少女, 看透了船團的界限, 和Bajura一起離開了. 那是被叛了人類, 還是身為藝術家的尊嚴, 混雜著嫉妒的雪露無法判斷. 也或許兩者都是.

那時還有Kim Yobi, Alhazurad Rabahaa, Mary Conte, Christina Azerahi, 劉玄月, Shindura McGill 在. (*拼音是隨便湊的) ?X?Jf??i?M
有些人被火炎吞噬, 有些人被Bajura撕裂, 有些人被流彈波及, 或著被吸入宇宙.
雖然並不親近, 可是想到這些同學們, 雪露的心就隱隱做痛.
抬頭看見的天空, 被塵埃混濁, 模糊不清.
他們也曾有過夢想. 那些夢想現在和街上的墓碑一起埋葬了, 或是和他們的靈魂一起消散在宇宙的深淵了呢.
沒成為死者的雪露無從得知.
唯一確定的是, 她也即將加入他們的行列.
風輕輕吹起雪露的衣裝.


一輛像是來錯地方的高級轎車捲起大氣, 從雪露的身旁呼嘯而過.

她見過後座的人.
豐沛的栗色長髮, 和雪露年紀差不多的, 表情陰暗的少女.
因為和記憶中的表情落差太大, 要回想起來須要點時間.
米蘭達•美玲.
是了, 曾經打過幾次招呼.
蘭花的出道作<Bird Human>的女主角.
說是什麼好萊鄔消失前就存在的女演員世家. 祖母還曾和林明美同過臺. 如果跟他說這種事的話, 憎恨自己血統的早乙女有人一定會說 ?
「除了血統就沒有別的可以誇讚的傢伙, 只不過是掛著”我是無能演員”的鑲金看板在走來走去罷了.」
像這樣的嫌惡吧.
事實上, 雪露的印象裡, 她雖然實力不錯, 可是算不上是好演員. 自我太強, 破壞整個印象. 評價家會對明明是新人, 卻能溶入畫面的同時又保有自我的蘭花有高度評價也是自然的.
可是錯身而過的車內的她, 已經沒了當時的光芒. 只剩下過時的美貌.

雪露知道那是什麼.
那是敗家犬的表情.
那是從藝能界的戰場所產生的, 眾多的敗者的臉. 為了讓聚光燈下的花朵盛開的養分.

(要逃走嗎)

定期運輸艇雖早就停駛了, 可是只要有錢有管道, 要搭到黑市的密航FOLD艇離開船團也不是不可能. 沒有取締這個的原因, 一半是因為顧客有不少都是行政府的人, 也是為了節省氧氣和資源. 會浪費資源的VIP還是不要的好, 這樣的判斷. 而今, 米蘭達有錢也有管道.
以前的雪露的話,一定會看不起的吧.
可是現在不一樣.
被絕症侵蝕的現在, 雪露開始覺得能原諒人類的醜惡.

有種自己的脈搏又變微弱的感覺.
這雙足還能支撐自己多久.
恐懼緩慢的侵蝕身體, 只有膽怯不停的括大.
好想見早乙女有人.
一度認識了的溫度, 簡直就像泥沼一樣.
似乎就連吐息都追求的他的存在.
抬頭望向被煙灰掩蓋的天空, 尋找那根本看不見的機影. 偶爾閃過雲間的閃光, 是在Island至近距離內戰鬥的閃光.
有人現在飛著的 不是他最討厭的虛構的天空, 而是真空的虛空. 無止無盡和Bajura戰鬥的天空.

剛認識的時候, 他只是成不了學生又當不了藝人, 只有存在感出眾的孩子.
可是不知何時, 他成了能獨當一面的飛行員, 露出了天才藝人的表情, 然後讓人看見他男人的一面, 從雪露的懷裡振翅高飛.
如果那伸展的翅膀不是沾滿鮮血, 充滿憎恨的話, 如果不是自己命不長久的話, 雪露現在一定是幸福到了極點了吧.
她不會說他是為了自己而戰.
可是卻是為了包含自己在內的船團的所有人這點是無庸至疑. 那個讓人覺得自己是唯一的擁抱, 比外表還要堅實可靠的手臂和胸膛的感觸, 雪露無時無刻不銘記在心.

雪露讓疲憊的身體坐在缺了頭的天使像上. 轎車的影子已經遠去.

(逃走, 嗎)

如果自己這樣說的話, 有人會怎麼辦.
會捨棄家人和一切, 和自己離開這個船團嗎. IiWRi#w?T?
乘上小小的FOLD艇, 流浪到沒有Bajura也沒有戰爭的小行星, 到死之前都陪在自己身邊.
人的心並不是只有堅強的部分.
因為有人給予自己的堅強, 她才站的起來.
即使如此, 她還是不能停只想像, 在這充滿春天氣息的不可靠的幸福裡, 能不用面對即將到來的慘劇而逝.

「…? 歌?」

打斷像籠中鼠不停轉動的雪露的思緒的, 是不知從哪傳來, 微弱但確實的旋律.
驚人的輕鬆的, 她站起身.
像是某種預感, 雪露隨著聲音, 尋求它的來源.

那名老人在所有人都低著頭行走的路邊, 獨自站立著.
手雖像枯木一樣,可是卻準確的架著小提琴, 操縱著弦, 奏出令人懷念的音色.
像是為這冷漠孤寂的街道添上色彩一樣, 音樂流動著.
沒有電腦也沒有Inplant, 甚至連喇叭和擴音器都沒有, 讓人忘記時間的旋律.
可是, 沒有人為了老人停步. 也沒有人在暢開的小提琴盒裡丟錢.
簡直就像音樂什麼的, 已經成了遙遠往日的幻影, 人們戴著口罩, 緊扣外套的鈕釦, 快步通過.

(明明沒辦法離開這個城市)

只有雪露聽著他的曲子.
那並不是什麼優秀的技巧.
不, 連照著樂譜拉都有困難. 和那優秀的小提琴不搭配的, 拙劣的技巧.
真要說的話, 雪露 諾姆就是音樂, 只要有音樂的地方就有雪露. 只有這能說明.
可是, 在這凍結的天空下, 唯一燃燒著的, 讓人聯想起暖爐的音色並不討厭. 雪露和老人兩個, 在這人們交錯的街頭佇足不前.
流洩的旋律裡, 混雜著微弱的, 像咳嗽一樣的不諧和音.

雪露感到哀傷.
他病了. 曲子雖然充滿感情, 可是偶爾欠落的音色並不是因為技術.
肉體也是樂器的一部份. 不是只有歌聲. 樂器也是一樣的. 不健康的身體演奏的曲子, 一定會留下氣息.

曲子的結束, 似乎只有老人和雪露注意到.
即使如此, 雪露還是表示了禮儀.不過只給了和技術相應的鼓掌,並向老人微笑.
「這是維爾瓦第(Vivaldi) 的<冬>呢」
「您知道啊」

老人有點羞恥的縮了縮肩膀. 原來如此. 他對自己的演奏還是有著客觀的瞭解. )

「安東尼奧 維爾瓦第. 被稱為紅髮的祭司的希代天才小提琴作曲家. 留下超過五百首的協奏曲, 五十二齣歌劇, 七十三首奏鳴曲的至高奏者.」
「您很清楚呢. 對戰前的音樂有興趣嗎?」
「只要是音樂的什麼都有興趣. 只要能給我靈感的, 就算是在真空中唱歌的鯨魚, 我也會去聽.」

邊這麼說著, 雪露邊透過太陽眼鏡觀察這名老人.
看起來保暖的天然材質的夾克和長褲, 也有注意不會防礙演奏. 從肩膀到袖口的情況能看出用心. 至少不是半定製的東西能做的出來的.
可是, 雖然門面打理的不錯, 卻少了份自在, 不像是過去有錢有名的小提琴家.
雪露開始對老人感到好奇.

「…為什麼在這種地方演奏?」
「唉呀」

面對跟孫子差不多年紀的雪露, 老人害羞的笑了. 跟有人被發現孩子氣的時候露出的害羞的樣子一樣.

「音樂這種東西, 沒有人聽的話就沒有意思了. 不過, 看來今天的聽眾只有妳一個人呢」

喔, 雪露這麼想.
至少他理解自己的曲子是要給人聽的. 陶醉在自己的音樂裡卻仍然清醒, 雖然說的簡單卻不容易做到.

(我也真是壞習慣呢)

不管是多大年紀的老人, 多懸殊的技術差距, 只要有藝術家站在眼前, 就會想要一較高下, 探知對方的底力. 忍不住能偷學多少就偷學多少.
只已經只能說是是罪業了.
雖然雪露不能判斷順著這業活下去到底能不能得到幸福, 只少比在廢墟裡哀聲嘆氣, 輸給死神甜美的誘惑還要有建設多了.

(對不起, 有人, 我不是花心喔)

在心裡對有人吐舌頭, 雪露以流麗的動作拿下了太陽眼鏡.

「失禮了. 我是雪露 諾姆. 如果方便的話能談一談嗎? 我對你在這裡演奏的理由很感興趣.」
「妳就是銀河的妖精?」 ?

老人吃了一驚.

「像妳這樣的頂尖藝人, 我能談些什麼呢」
「沒有這樣的事. 不論何時, 藝人之間的交流都是有意義的. 不是嗎?」
「原來如此. 如你所言.」

老人用力的握緊雪露伸出的手.

「我是亞伯特 科爾曼. 公園另一邊的咖啡店還有在營業, 在那裡喝一杯如何. 配給的漏洞在暗中流轉的樣子.」

合成品的咖啡裡加入不知道是用什麼製成的牛奶狀液體, 混的像畫具. 即使如此, 香甜的味道溫暖了身體. 巨人族的店員一臉抱歉的樣子和老人安慰的樣子讓人印象深刻.
自稱科爾曼的老人在跟自己差不多年紀的長椅上坐下, 一臉懷念的開始敘說往事. ?

「我是美力堅合眾國出生的」

老人用國家, 而不是星球來描述自己的出身地. 現在只存在於概念裡的行政單位. 在行星上拉起不存在的線, 像是那是個星球一樣的形容. 非常奇妙的時代的事

「小姐, 妳去過地球嗎?」
「沒有. 降下在行星上的經驗幾乎沒有.」
「是嗎. 不過我現在所說的地球和現在的地球也不一樣了. 我所出生的華盛頓D.C.的櫻花樹可是很美的」
「櫻花…? 日本的花嗎」
「是的. 聽說是1912年從東京送來的. 河面上倒映的櫻花美不勝收. 飄揚著花瓣的傑佛森記念館的美景, 真想讓妳看看」
眼前明明是寒冬的廢墟, 老人的眼中彷彿能看見過去的美景似的. 雪露甚至覺得能看到櫻花的幻影似的

一定很適合有人. 她這樣想著

「那場戰爭開始時, 我還是志願成為小提琴家的小鬼」

過去50年發生了無數的戰爭.
可是, 老人們感慨的用”那場戰爭”來描述的, 只有第一次星際大戰.

「馬克羅斯降落在地上的時候, 統合戰爭開打的時候, 我只當是他人事. 就連布里泰艦隊的出現, 馬克羅斯消失在冥王星的時候, TV裡講的”馬克羅斯因反統合勢力的恐怖攻擊而消滅”之類的報導也只是淡淡接受. 那些傢伙又做了嗎, 這樣的感想.」

人類從來就沒有變呢, 雪露這麼想.

自己也是被動的接受了許多資訊. Bajura的事, 蘭花的事, 船團的事, 歌的事. 以及自己的事. 完全相信傳媒和網路消息的話總有一天會付出代價.

「… 想著戰爭什麼的都是美國以外的事, 總有一天會結束的, 現在想想真是天真.」

科爾曼老人說著, 然後愛惜的撫摸跟自己差不多年紀的小提琴.

「不過那也是波特爾 察 的攻擊開始之前的事了」

老人的聲音裡帶的憎惡.
雪露只有從影片裡知道這個慘劇.
為了根絕地球的文明, 由巨人足基幹艦隊所實行的軌道爆擊.
傳聞那將地面上各式各樣的文明和生物蒸發, 連海洋都消滅了. 地球表面滾燙沸騰, 變成像金星一樣.

「什麼華盛頓DC, 地球上的事物都消滅了. 從避難所出來時, 我放聲大喊了. 讓我從夢中醒來. 只要有活人的話, 就算是巨人族我也會給他一個吻,這種感覺.」

從字裡行間, 能感受到他對消失的一切的哀悼, 以及對破壞者的憤怒.

(可是, 這個人還是在巨人族的店裡喝著咖啡)

這讓雪露感到偉大.
自己會怎麼樣?
有能夠原諒葛瑞絲和Bajura的一天的到來嗎? 奪去米歇爾和眾多友人的他們.

「… 那之後的時代, 並不是聊音樂的日子. 幸好, 我在Macross City 努力工作, 運氣不錯有點小財產. 還常想起那時保護我們面受災害的艦長和一条 輝隊長們的事.」

這是一種奇妙的感覺.
記載在歷史教科書裡的文字, 從老人的口裡聽來簡直像昨天一樣. 那對不知道祖父母的雪露來說, 是很新鮮的經驗.
她試著想像自己的祖父母在那場大戰是怎麼活下來的, 可是線索太少, 想像不出來. 只是想著, 和自己流有相同的血的話, 一定會為了海洋的消失而感到悲傷吧.

「跟孩子和孫子一起搭上Frontier船團時, 已經把小提琴的事都忘了. 可是, Bajura的來襲, 船團如今成了這樣, 我想到了.」
「什麼?」
「我還不想死.」

年邁的小提琴家混著苦笑, 可是清楚的回答到.

「然後這樣想著, 如果明天會死的話, 再試一次以前沒辦到的事吧. 這次一定, 要把當時沒能學好的音樂練成.」
「… 明天就要死了, 不會想待在家人身邊嗎?」
「當然會啊. 可是, 雪露小姐, 如果是妳的話一定瞭解的吧」

老人在一瞬間, 露出了音樂家的眼神.
即使年老, 技藝不佳, 只有熱情不會輸給妳雪露諾姆, 這樣的眼神.

「如果有奇蹟的話, 我能再活個10年的話, 我一定會後悔和家人一起恐懼死亡. 如果那時多練習一下, 說不定演奏更美好的音樂.」
「……奇蹟」

被用到老套的話語.
那種東西, 真的存在嗎

「奇蹟存在喔.」

像是看穿內心, 科爾曼老人溫柔的說到

「我們在這裡活著就是奇蹟. 從那場戰爭活下來的我們, 存活下來的我們的子孫的你們, 現在正活在這裡. 一定是某種強大的力量的引導. 如果是這樣的話, 奇蹟就在那裡.」

那麼, 就在期待一次吧.

「好害羞的台詞呢」

未來要自己開拓. 倚賴奇蹟的話, 明天是不會到來的.
可是, 現在能夠理解.
自己能活到現在, 成為明星, 並不是自己一個人的力量. 不是一個人活過來的, 而是被許多人支持著活下來.
親眼見到人們死去, 自己也被死亡追趕著的現在, 才理解.

「……可是很棒喔」

閃爍的耳環反射著陽光, 雪露像妖精一樣的在公園裡轉個身.

「科爾曼先生, 請再奏一曲. 能讓人拿出勇氣的曲子」
「那麼, 就來個”美麗的巴斯少女”吧」

老人起身, 大方的拉起琴. 隨著那哀傷卻帶著在這裡活著的人們的熱情的曲調, 雪露加上即興的歌詞合唱.
隨風飄舞的枯葉閃著金光, 為雪露添色.
沒錯. 即使明天會死去, 也有想要看的巔峰. 那是藝術的女神的祝福, 也或許是詛咒.
就算如此世界還是散發著光芒.
在明天就會破碎的玻璃瓶的世界裡, 像是永恆一樣的閃爍.
還能活多久, 還能唱多久, 雪露並不知道.
可是, 如果奇蹟發生的話.
吞下那接下來的話語, 少女佇在歌聲中.

幾天過去了.
科爾曼老人還是在街角拉琴, 人們的表情還是一樣陰暗.
雖然如此雪露還是忙著參加Victor Promotion主辦的慈善音樂會.
以前, 感動於自己的歌聲能傳達給別人, 看重由此得到的金錢和名聲.
可是現在不一樣.
那時, 科爾曼老人的小提琴告訴自己的, 除此之外的某些什麼, 的確存在在那裡. 並衷心希望自己的歌聲能點燃人們心中的火.
歌聲有這個力量. 忘了這理所當然的事的自己, 雪露感到羞恥. 可是能在死前想起來就好了.

「…啊」

在大排長龍的人潮的前端, 有著攪拌著湯鍋的栗色頭髮.

「妳不是…米蘭達 美鈴!?」

不是逃走了嗎, 雪露心裡這麼想著,卻不說出口. 如果把這說出來的話, 不知道周圍的人會怎麼反應.

「雪露小姐!」

穿著廚用服的米蘭達嚇了一跳, 然後露出害羞的表情. 可是攪拌湯鍋的手並沒停下.

「…我還以為妳早就離開船團了」

小小聲的, 雪露在米蘭達形狀美好的耳邊悄聲說. 她還在這裡這件事讓她很驚訝.

「…妳知道了嗎」

米蘭達的表情有點嚴肅.

「妳以為我是誰? 那種小事, 早就看透了」
「… 父母已經離開船團了. 可是, 出發的時候我從宇宙港逃了出來.」

她露出像是卸下重擔的表情.

「我覺得我聽到了雪露小姐的歌聲.」
「…我的?」
「然後, 我想起來了. 如果我現在逃走了, 我沒辦法面對妳. 就算在別的星球成了女演員, 也一定沒辦法站在妳的眼前.」
「原來如此.」

雪露故意露出和葛瑞絲一樣壞壞的, 做出高傲的表情笑了

「就是說妳有和我正面交鋒的決悟了吧?」
「…是的」

米蘭達的眼瞳從正面接受了雪露的凝視.

「我是女演員. 不管多貧窮多痛苦 我也要死在舞台上.」

這樣就好了. 雪露想著
反正不管如何, 明天或是一百年後, 人總是要死的.
那是自然的調理, 只有面對死亡正直的活下去. 反正是絕對逃不開自己的
就像鳥兒們懸命飛向那無限的天空一樣.
雪露會繼續唱歌, 科爾曼老人會繼續拉琴, 米蘭達會繼續站在舞台上一樣.
那名少年也一定一樣吧.
抬頭看見的天空, 有像彗星似的Valkery的噴射炎.
自然的, 歌聲流洩.
從絕望起程的, 那首歌.
那歌聲終將響徹傳說的邊界.

Thanks for posting that! I can't quite get all of it (no time to look unknown words up :upset:) but it's a pretty amusing snippet postulating what might have happened immediately after the end of the battle. The text in the top right of the image says something to the effect of...

"The launch of "Intermission"! a movie spinoff painting a hypothetical episode of the aftermath of the story so far! In this first snippet, the considerable cost of employing the Tornado Pack equipment threatens to pour cold water on a emotional finale?"

The very last line is incredibly cute!
After that, Sheryl never again took out her purse when on a date with Alto. "Hn. Of course not."

It's just the last airing date/period of the movie (Itsuwari no Utahime, if you may not want to be confused) is on mid-March in the theater concerned :)

Shōjo manga creator Kariko Koyama has launched Sheryl ~Kiss in the Galaxy~, a series based on last year's Macross Frontier ~Itsuwari no Utahime~ film, in the July issue of Kodansha's Bessatsu Friend magazine on Friday. Shoji Kawamori, the creator of the Macross science-fiction romance franchise and the director of the Macross Frontier movie, is collaborating on the manga's original story. The first manga installment covers the early years of the idol singer character Sheryl Nome in vocal school — a storyline not seen in the animation thus far.

Hearing that Kawamori will be apart of the creation has me really interested. Especially seeing as how it'll focus on the early years of Sheryl.

In the TV stage, around after episode 17, Luca found out that the songs of the little Vajra has the fold wave with the power to attract Vajra after cooperating with Grace in her male version.

At the beginning at the movie, Luca already has the ability to immediately detect fold waves. People in the SMS all know about the fact that Ranka's voice has the ability to produce fold waves (This is a natural ability and the quality of the singing will not affect the fold waves). For example, during the First Live, the Vajra attacked. Once Ranka started singing, the Vajra died.

After that, The Queen and the Princess's date. This time the princess did not fold paper aeroplanes. Ranka still imagines that there are paper aeroplanes in the sky and began singing, leading to the Vajra to be resurrected.

Mikhail told the princess that if he made Ranka cry, both the captain and I will not spare you. Most probably it's because that Ranka's crying will once again produce fold waves and cause the Vajra to riot.

In a sense, the princess is very clear about the SMS's superiors and seniors's concern about Ranka's crying. (Perhaps this is why he was particularly concerned with why the Queen can also sing AIMO)

(laughs) But, in the movie, I think her childishness in the scenes seems to be reduced a lot.

Q: In other words, at the end of the previous paragraph article, the three-sided relationship between Sheryl and Ranka and Alto how is it?

A: So far, no matter how I look at it, it seems like Alto and Sheryl are stucked together. Because of a misunderstanding he knocked her off in the first concert and because of that, he changed his initial perception of her (you remember she demanded that he keep flying so that she can sing), starting from that moment onwards the bonds between them becomes more profound. Hasn't dropped out of the Newtype polls since she entered, has placed 2nd in the last two Grand Prix yearly contest by Animage, crushed Ranka in 2ch character polls. Just got a shoujo manga based on her, a nod to her popularity with females.

Even if Sheryl loses the triangle, something I truly don't want to happen, it seems Sheryl will be the one remembered by the fanbase.

Maybe, maybe not. I just hope they realize why Sheryl is so popular and realize a lot of that is due to her relationship with Alto and their dynamics. And make the right choice from that. Choosing the most popular character in contention isn't always the right choice...

I would never support such half-hearted reasons for being a Ranka fan, that's disappointing to hear. I'm just waiting for the movies right now, the arguments and discussions have been done to death so I guess now is the time to band together and just enjoy the movies for what they are :) (Regardless of which female lead you support :heh:)

I just bought that at the Macross store in Akihabara last week. Well worth the price. It's "Nyan-Cret" Vol. 2, and is full of sketches, art, and anecdotes from the Frontier staff. If you're in the UK, it won't play, unfortunately.

Japan and the States share Blu-Ray regions, however.

I'm not sure what are you guys telling me. Did the movie only featured half of the TV show or are you telling me to wait for second movie cuz' it is the continuation of the show and hence will be real ending.

The movie covers episodes 1-7 + something else in a different way. Most animation comes from said episodes, but re-organized in a way it feels like something kinda different. Some things are changed, there are new scenes. I put into spoilers what the movie exactly does :

Basically, it goes until ep 7 and then skips the panty episode, Michel's story, Legend of Zero and the Gallia 4 arc.

The whole Galaxy rescue mission takes a turn for the worse when the Vajra fleet, lured by Sheryl concert (in which Ranka sings) folds to Frontier to attack it. The movie ends with Sheryl and Ranka singing to help SMS and NUNS defeat them. Tadaa.

For the new conclusion, wait for the second movie... which comes out in Japan like next month, and probably another year later on blu-ray like this one.

I must say that while it felt good to have something kinda new to watch but I never felt it was anything exceptional.
A lot of singing parts where cringe-inducing too, and that's coming from someone who didn't had much trouble with the series, not a hater by any means. And God, the fan-service. What the hell ? It was just gross at several points.

I'll still look forward to the second movie, to see how things will play out, but I don't think there'll be any drastic change. I saw people saying how changes from the first movie would have a big impact on the story for the second, but that's not necessarily true. They can totally make the second movie be some kind of recap like this one, just slapping a new conclusion or a continuation at the end.

Oh yeah, and something you don't want to read if you didn't watched the movie :

Anybody thought the Michel thing was too damn obvious ?
I guess there probably wasn't any decent way to do "it" since Michel didn't had nearly as much time here than in the series.

Not really. The second movie will be a continuation of the first movie. The first movie only covers the events of episodes 1-7 (more or less), the second movie will (somehow) have the rest.

I think they realized over the course of the original series what was the appeal of such and such characters, and what point of the show would rack up money. The movie simply goes further in that direction, to the point it kinda (or totally) removes the original charm.

Just look at how over-the-top Sheryl and Ranka antics are this time. Sheryl songs are more pop-ish than ever and they zoom on her boobs and ass every time they can. Same for Ranka, which they try to make cute and everything at any given time. Not to say the series wasn't like this, especially in its final episodes. But when it started it was certainly more subtle than the movie.

Just my 2 cents.

I really haven't seen the movie yet, only zapped through it, since my versions soundtrack wasn't aligned with the visuals. ^^

Got a chance to see the movie the other day and was very entertained. My expectations were in line with the direction of a retelling, so I was pleased with the results. Comparing and contrasting the Macross Frontier Movie to the Macross Frontier TV Series is much like the similarities between the Macross Plus Movie and the Macross Plus OVA. I suspect I'll end up preferring various parts from each iteration of Macross Frontier (TV series and Movies) much like that of Plus, wishing there were an edit including everything I prefer. I viewed the complete series only once since it aired, so coming back to Macross Frontier via the movie was a welcome experience. The new animation seamlessly integrated with the older animation and it was great to see many of old TV series scenes either redrawn or refinished with superior artwork.

I enjoyed many of the altered story elements, like the injuring of Ozma, the new introduction of Brera into the story (plus his VF-27 appearance) and the earring allowing Alto to learn of Sheryl's past. I also especially enjoyed a lot of the new CG mecha action. I found they utilized several far more dramatic and dynamic angles when depicting the mecha, especially the battle with Ozma vs. the Red Vajra and of course the Tornado Pack on Alto's VF-25F Messiah. The Macross Quarter battle was also particularly well done and I liked the reveal of a new Vajra warship. Watching the movie version has also reminded me how much I enjoyed the Frontier series and has got me really stoked for the second film.

I will say that in spite of enjoying the movie, I would have preferred a more radical retelling and redesign of the characters, mecha and sets. Perhaps it's just being spoiled by DYRL?, but given the time and money put into these productions it would have been nice to go a different route.

One aspect of the film I found very off-putting was the ridiculous vampire imagery. Sheryl being bitten by her holographic doppelganger, Alto sinking his teeth into Sheryl's arm, etc. These visuals are very out of place in something like Macross. While it may just be nothing more than coincidence, I can't help but think the popularity of "Twilight" is rearing it's ugly head within Japanese pop culture.

Also, I agree with whoever criticized Klan's inclusion in the Mioshi school. It's such a random placement for the character and feels much like an afterthought just to include her in the story early so the audience can be aware of who she is. A much better introduction could have been made.

Questions:

During Grace's shower scene, is she talking to her co-conspirators on the Macross Galaxy? If so, this sets up the conspiracy much better than it did in the series.

Overall, this first film makes a great addition to the Macross Frontier story. I can see myself likely rewatching the two movies more than the actual series simply because the editing and story is that much more focused. I'd say 4 out of 5 for me.

That shower scene is a bit confusing to me lol...I think she talked to her "partners" in Galaxy, and she also mentioned something like how the song from Sheryl will awake the power inside Ranka at the last day's concert

Which doesn't really make sense because Ranka was not supposed to go to the concert (Ozma told her not to go...plus Vajra defolded to Frontier because of Alto's ear rings that somehow transmitted the songs from Sheryl and Ranka to the battlefield should not be part of Grace's master plan because Grace didn't know that Alto would pick up the ear ring !!

I am thinking Grace's original plan at the last concert was just to buy more time for Sheryl and herself, pretending that Galaxy got destroyed so they could stay in the Frontier a bit longer, that's all...Vajra's defolding to Frontier should not be in their plan

I think they realized over the course of the original series what was the appeal of such and such characters, and what point of the show would rack up money. The movie simply goes further in that direction, to the point it kinda (or totally) removes the original charm.

Just look at how over-the-top Sheryl and Ranka antics are this time. Sheryl songs are more pop-ish than ever and they zoom on her boobs and ass every time they can. Same for Ranka, which they try to make cute and everything at any given time. Not to say the series wasn't like this, especially in its final episodes. But when it started it was certainly more subtle than the movie.

Just my 2 cents.

Grace's plan also need not be so "precise and dead-certain"; it's enough for Grace to know that Ranka will be drawn to and eventually affected by Sheryl and thus lure the Vajra where she wishes. The timing, if not sooner, can always come later. Grace is nothing if not patient. But of course, the limitations of the movie format means the plot of the Macross Frontier movie must resolve itself sooner rather than later :)

I really enjoy the movie...I think the plot is much more clearer than the TV series (except the Grace's master plan at the end)...The characters don't really change too much...Alto is still Alto..Ranka is still Ranka and Sheryl is still Sheryl...and I like it this way :D

And the fantastic battle at the end is really really cool...but Alto got to be a superman since he can withstand all those g forces while his VF doing all those crazy stunts :cool:

I agree the Alto connection is too convenient for Grace. But it also depends upon how one interprets the plot since those events are just happenstance. I admit I never got the impression Grace's plan needed the earring or Alto to work. At least not in a general sense. The Alto-Sheryl-Ranka connection just happened to play into a plan Grace already had in motion...and it worked sooner than she expected all outside of her direct control. But the movie is vague on these plot points, which means your interpretation could be equally as valid. As you say, Grace could not have counted on Alto's involvement and had no control over his link in her conspiracy.

I will say this about your criticisms; the fact that we have to so intricately discuss and conjecture upon the plot in order for it to work justifies your critique of it. Grace's role in the plot could (and SHOULD) have been made more clear to the audience. Definitely a weaker element of the movie.

Despite that one problem, I share your affinity for the many plot elements from the series made much clearer (or simply more "pronounced") in the movie. The movie format distilled a lot of the clutter down and hit upon the essentials of the plot a lot better. It reminded me of all the things I liked about the Frontier series and entices me to watch it again :)

I hope it's not just me. Also, while Klan looks good in the Mihoshi uniform, I thought it was a cheap way of saving time of everyone knowing each other already.

My initial impressions of the movie:


Likes:
- New establishing and master shots of the city. It really makes the city feel larger and complete. Same for the Frontier fleet.
- New character background information such as Alto visiting Galaxy.
- That Alto already knew Ranka, makes the narrative much smoother. Also Klan attending Mihoshi.
- Sheryl's Aimo (While it was on the TV OST, if I am not mistaken this first time it is used in the animation - looks like it was used in Ep 18 eyecatch.).
- Battle Frontier reveal. Too bad they did not animate the transformation.
- Movie colors of Macross Quarter.
- Brera's new costume. Much better than chesty Brera.
- Grace shower scene :p

Dislikes:
- The still inconsistent and average character animation. Dissapointing for a movie.
- Too many scene jumps. They are trying to have character development in a format more suited for plot-focused stories.
- Obvious shortcuts and cost saving measures such as showing a background shot because they do not want to reanimate the characters in a new setting due to dialog reuse. Would have helped if what they showing reinforces the dialog.
- New tech such as the Tornado pack and the Vajra batteship. Does not serve the story and not much of an eye candy either. How does a newbie like Alto rate a special pack?
- Akward joke moments such as Ranka's buns and Alto's joining ceremony.
- While I have not seen the movie in theaters: It took almost a year for a home release and they still did not fix spelling errors like Sharon Apple (Unless Shalon is new official spelling).
- And on that note, more Sheryl Nome and less Sheryl Apple.
- The battle scenes did not quite work for me. Especially in conjuction with the music. The Universal Bunny one was almost but not quite. The TV preview episode still has the best music-battle scene.

Huh?:
- Why is the cover of the booklet the same flimsy paper as the interior?


Overall I feel that the movie is average compared to the TV series. I think it also fails as a standalone movie in introducing a new audience to the universe. It feels like a hack-job, a Frankenstein. They are trying to tell character stories where given the time available, it should be focus more on the plot. That decision resulted in scenes jumping around and a lot of dialog. Coupled with the lack of battle scenes it bogs the movie down and slows the narrative. The time and money would have been better spent to create an OVA that extended the TV series. If you did not like the TV series, I don't think the movie will change your mind. Ultimately I bought the movie because I could not afford the TV series.

A side note: Half of the 54 minutes worth of extra is reading speech bubbles of the PS3 Mainichi cats. Sheryl's and figure CMs are nice though.
