Yes, definitely.. but I'd like to see it take place when they go off to college, not immediately after where season 2 left off..
no the trid season will be write when they lat of the first
no the trid season will be write when they lat of the first
Errr.... o_o
I suppose that translates to "No, the third season will begin from where the first season left off." And yes, that is the most logical assumption, because Fumoffu didn't advance the storyline at all.
I stress this again:
If it deems that FMP was popular enough, they will make the rest of the anime from the novel it is based on. Since we have yet to see Tessa's brother, Sosuke "dumping" Chidori, and Chidori going into a love hotel with an older man out of despair, or the "return" of Gaurun [again] in anime form as written in the original novel, there is a good chance we might see a new season - maybe next year.
Gee, thanks for all those unmarked spoilers.

Sosuke "dumping" Chidori,
Believable, if either Souske gets reassigned or if they go into a relationship then break up.
and Chidori going into a love hotel with an older man out of despair,
A bit out of character for Chidori.. not likely to happen.
or the "return" of Gaurun [again] in anime form as written in the original novel,

Still not very likely b/c Gaurun's machine exploded as he landed in the water at the end of FMP1. But maybe he ejected himself or the machine had an indestructible pilot's chamber and he eventually swam ashore.

well THERE WOULD BE A THIRD SEASON cause:
fmp season one ended..nothing REALLY was explained...
fmp season 2 just told u stories after FMP SEASON 1...sagara goes back to school and things happen...
fmp season 3 should TALK THINGS ABOUT AFTER FUMOFFU and it should
be action, comedy and MORE ROMANCE...i bet comedy might be a little lowered since fumoffu was all comedy....
and my chidori sigs rule XD
fmp season 2 just told u stories after FMP SEASON
Actually, if you read the manga, Fumoffu takes place during the same timespan that the first season did. It just focuses on their school life, which season 1 doesn't go into that much after the first few episodes.

I've read the novel.
OK, I guess all of them sound plausible, except the love hotel one.. are you sure it's the official novel and not some Doujinshi?

I have been reading these novels on Fujimishobo Fantasia Books since the original "Full Metal Panic" novel written by author Gatoh Shoji came out in 1998.
To help clarify, "Full Metal Panic" was originally a series of novels and short stories made by author Gatoh Shoji. Anime and manga came after that.
Novels:
1998.9.25 "Tatakau Boy Meets Girl"
1999.3.25 "Hashiru One Night Stand"
2000.2.25 "Yureru Into The Blue"
2000.11.15 "Owaru Day By Day Vol. 1"
2001.4.25 "Owaru Day By Day Vol. 2"
2003.3.25 "Odoru Very Merry Christmas"
Short Story Compilations:
1998.12.25 "Hanatte Okenai Ippiki Ookami"
1999.5.25 "Honki ni Narenai Nishi Manrui"
1999.10.25 "Jiman ni Naranai Sankan-ou"
2000.6.25 "Doujou Dekinai Shimen Souka"
2001.10.25 "Dounimo Naranai Gorimuchuu"
2002.6.25 "Ateni Naranai Roppou Zensho"
2003.7.25 "Anshin Dekinai Nanatsu Dougu"
The anime "Full Metal Panic!" (first season) covers up to "Yureru Into The Blue." (plus several from short story compilations like the intro to Inaba Mizuki and the first meeting of Mao, Kurtz, and Sousuke)
The anime "Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu" (second season) covers several stories in the short story compilations. However, since there are many stories, the anime did not cover several interesting parts like - Hayashimizu Student President's daily life nor his tragic past.
If there were to be a third season, it would most likely be "Owaru Day By Day" Volume 1 & 2. You see the separation of Chidori and Sagara, both undergoing what each meant for each other, and them growing up to a new level of relationship. It also marks the end of "Chapter One" in the "Full Metal Panic" series.

By "Chapter One," it means "ODBD Vol 1 & Vol 2" are the stories where Part One of "Full Metal Panic" closes. "ODBD" marks a turning point for both Kaname and Sousuke's feelings for each other.
In 2003.3.25, the latest novel, "Odoru Very Merry Christmas" was released. The summary page in Japanese reads:
"Kaname goes on a cruise with her Jindai High School classmates as part of a sudden field trip. The date is December 24th. It's Christmas Eve, and it's also Kaname's birthday! On a very special day like this, something had to happen. As if it had to occur during Sousuke's vacational absence, the cruise ship was suddenly sea-jacked by a group of terrorists!! However, Kaname notices the self-claiming "absolute-evil" terrorist has bushy-uncombed hair with the same stoic facial expression....wait a minute!?
As the love triangle between Kaname, Tessa, and Sagara heats up, you are invited to one of the most wierdest comedic adventures that occurred in the Holy Night."
In a book signing event for this book, Mr. Gatoh Shoji explained that this new novel embarks as an opening introduction to Part Two of "Full Metal Panic." With Sagara Sousuke putting clear his own emotions and feelings, it is also where the actual love triangle between Kaname, Tessa, and Sousuke is resolved. "Say it as an intermission before embarking on a new journey."
Have fun reading!
