Among the new files, I found "Misaki Chronicle - Divergence Eve", so I checked out the description for it here: AniDB info page (http://anidb.ath.cx/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=822) (which is btw much better than the linked ANN description).
The cover looked very nice, and the description sounded interesting as well - but then I read something that really made me cringe: "...created by the same director and character designer as Amazing Nurse Nanako, who is famous for enormeous breasts..." Holy sh*t! :twitch: :help:
The screenshots provided (here (http://anidb.ath.cx/pics/anime/602.jpg) and here (http://anidb.ath.cx/pics/anime/529.jpg)) really looked awful as well :hmm:
Now you can't judge it by two screenshoots only... so I wanted to ask, is it really as bad as in AN Nanako and as you could assume from the screenshots? Humongous breasts really aren't my cup of tea.

In case it's not as bad as it looks at the first glance - I saw that there are two groups fansubbing it, IY4Ever and AF-F&T. Which of them is better?

If you can look past those huge... things... hanging around the chest area of the female character, Divergence EVE is actually quite a good show... however if you want to watch Misaki Chronicles, I highly recommend watching Divergence EVE first, since MC is practically a straight sequel to DE.

Yes the breast are that large and if you can't look past that you probably won't like it. But if you can look past the large breast the story is actually pretty good. And comapre to Green Green and ikkotesen(sp?) th ebreast in Divergence Eve isn't that big at all.

MC is the second season of Divergence Eve or what I like to call Cleavage Eve. It pickes right after teh event of the last ep in DE.

You're quite right. A lot of people ditched the show because they showed one of the last episodes as the first episode, the lame CG, and of course, the breasts. However, there was actually a very deep and involved story behind all of that that made the watch worth it.

If you ask me, they've improved the art and the CG tremendously since the first one. As has already been said, if you could get over the breast factor and the crappy CG, the storyline was pretty gripping.

Any comments/remarks about AF-F&T's release? We couldn't resist the 1024 version with high-quality raws available in that format, but because it's been compressed on a massive scale (the final product has been compressed by ~50% from the raw version filesize) people with slower systems have difficulty playing it. I'm running a 1.2 GHz Athlon, and the OP/ED were completely desynchronized for me, only being able to acheieve maybe 22 FPS at best. During the actual episode, I only had minor desynchronization. The 704 version is made for the people with slower systems; it uses a different raw (could've resized but it was more convenient in a manner of speaking, here, as ultra-high quality 704 raws were also available). Both make use of XviD RC3; if you're having trouble playing either, make sure you're using the latest XviD.

I got a question about this series.

I'm confused whether it is a direct continuation or a pre-quel to the original series.

If you watch the first ep of the 2nd season, around the end I think they show a scene on December 17th or something, and they were still on Earth.

But in the first series, on Dec 17th, they were already all out fighting with those aliens light years away.

So I'm guessing in the first one, Misaki kinda pulled a RahXephon? :P

it is a direct sequel. After the event in Ep13, Watchers nest and all it is ppl have been caught in time warp. And Misaki or at least a part of her is trying to rewrite history and recreate a new future.

I figured as much, a future where not so many ppl died.

But those aliens will be back :P

But those aliens will be back :Pwatch the second episode, and you'll see more familiar faces... and the plot keeps thickening... hmmm... personally I'm a bit pissed about the ending of ep 3, I mean, they use such a cliche and hentai-esque scene... which is completely out of place for the show... oh well...

It's available for download, and two of the torrent links are recent enough that they show up on the front page. Doesn't that answer your question? Maybe you could at least make SOME effort to find out for yourself before you come to the forum ;)

Is this one licensed?

divergence eve is licensed by ADV but

Misaki Chronicle divergence eve is not licensed yet.

Becareful what you watch because there is a chance that ADV licensed by the fifth or sixth ep.Like they did to divergence eve.can't complain though since it might give the us a faster release.

Just to clarify, this is an actual sequel. You need to have seen the first 13 episodes or you will not get it at ALL.

The reason the first episode is a prequel is somewhat... difficult to understand. I won't spoil anything by saying this, I hope:
What the first episode is trying to show you is that Misaki's attempt to avert the tragedies at Watcher's Nest at the end of D-Eve Series 1 is an utter failure. That sets up the rest of the series.

about the end of D-Eve 1

I don't think it's a failure? in the end it says that Misaki takes all the people into herself and made a new universe... and I think that's what so far happens in the second season...

hey new here....since Divergence Eve is licensed already, is the DVD available for purchase? I ask because I can't seem to locate the DVD at all from the sites mentioned in the sticky where to buy thread.

I just watched the first three episodes of Misaki Chronicles from animesuki.com hehe...so far I like it. ahh I wish the subbers would try to get the other episodes out soon....:D

It is licensed, but that does not mean it is available.

It does mean that it will eventually be, and probably not long from now. I suggest you keep an eye on things at www.animeondvd.com since they regularly announce release dates.

ooo ok. If it was recently licensed, I was unaware of that. Thanks for the info!

Hmm... maybe this should be moved to the licensed section? Anyway anyone understand episode 9? I think I understood all the previous episodes but ep9 is really confusing now... I though Misaki created a new universe with her memories? And now somehow it's the old universe with Ghouls trying to start an invasion? And there's alien ruins on the quantum core? I think I'm somehow lost somewhere...

jesus, what's so wrong about huge breasts? seriously, do you prefer like a mans body? I mean no offense or anything but I don't get it.

All these people keep complaining about "it has ecchi, ick, i don't want fan service."

what? I mean if the echi in turn makes the show shallow.

To this day, i do not get it, maybe I never will understand.

dreamless
2004-08-17, 14:24
sure the over-sized breasts doesn't make the show shallow, they just look bad... I mean, I like some good fan-service like in the old BGC and maybe EVA style, but when they are this over-sized, they just don't look good and interfere with the show.

Hmm... just finished the whole series... but have no idea what the heck happened in the last few episodes... anyone can shed some light on it? lots of questions... and questions..1) what are the ghouls exactly? I think they said something like the ghouls are the inflation universe itself? baby universe trying to take over our universe?

2) what are the architects and the thing besides the main computer/golden globe in the ruin? I think architects are ancient alien race who first discovered inflation holes and sealed the ghouls or something? Is that thing beside the main computer an architect or a ghoul controlled by the architects?

3) so what exactly is Misaki's power? She can turn herself into a ghoul or into an architect or what? I think they extracted genes from the Necromancers to make the designer children right? and the Necromancers turns out to be controlled by architects to help defend the ruin?

4) Why LeBlanc try to destroy the universe again? I understand that he's an artificially created human, so because he's not born out of love, he wants to destroy everything? What is the "mother" thing he's talking to? a skeleton?

5) what happened in the very end? I think Ertiana got transported into a different universe where Misaki doesn't exist? Thus all the other people appeared in the last episode are actually someone in another universe thus they don't remember Misaki? So what happened to those form the "original universe"? they are savely transported back to the "original Earth" or do they get scattered into different universes? And what does the last scene mean? Misaki created her own universe at the nexus of two (and maybe more) different universes? Anyone understand what happened towards the end of this series?

Hey What do you guy's think of the show I thought it was very good and very helpful in understanding the first series.

It was certainly necessary since the first series ended on a cliffhanger. It was also interesting how they changed genres. The first series seemed to have been conceived as an Evangelion In Space (with big breasts), whilst the second series is more like Air in the way it injects whole episodes of historical drama into the plot. The first series also copied the device found in Crest of the Stars of using the prologue of each episode to fill in the background history of the society that the story is about. It also broadcast the 12th episode first as a teaser/mystification device, years before The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya became famous for broadcasting the 11th ep first for the same reasons.

The Eva inspiration of the first series was probably the biggest problem with it. The force-fitting of whole chunks of the Evangelion mythos into the plot garbled everything I thought, whilst the parts of the story that were original were much more interesting. Really the plot needed another rewrite to expunge all traces of the original Eva inspiration, in my view this would have made for a classic and original series.

The sequel managed to clear up some of the mess by jettisoning the Eva stuff in favour of an openly mystical approach via which it managed to complete the plot of the original series, with an otaku's guide to Japanese history thrown in largely for the hell of it.

It ends up a rather strange beast, one story told in two parts, each half almost overrun with different types of incongruous material. I liked both halves, but in the end I have to create the new categroy of "fatally flawed masterpiece" for the Divergence Eve/Misaki Chronicles combo; in other words it's begging for a remake.

As for the breasts, well I don't think we should discriminate against people with large breasts, they're entitled to have adventures too. In fact given modern society's obsession with breasts I think it could be a reasonable extrapolation of how the human race may end up in 300 years time, a cautionary tale if you like.

Hello guys... I write here to talk about the last episode of the first season of this anime and about the second season.
The first season had a very linear plotline, even if some questions were unanswered like "what are the ghouls?". I hoped they would have been answered in episode 13, but I was deadly wrong: I didn't understand almost anything in the last episode!!!
It appeared to me the authors were on crack when they made it...
Anyway I watched the second season hoping to find the answers I was looking for but with parallel universes, multiple Misaki I wanted to shoot myself... the authors came back from a rave party and then they made the second season of course.
I'm a simple linear guy so can anyone give me a link and/or explain me what the fuck happened from episode 13 till the end of second season?

Thanks!

HI all

Ok so iv just registered here mainly becouse of this one series, im usualy very good at figuring out whats going on in films and games which have time travel and parallel universes etc however.... This one is giving me a headach :eyespin:

To start one of the main characters dies half way through the first series ( luxandra ) which sucked, i felt sad about that tbh, then suzanna looses here memory which sucked aswell but atleast she gets it back, then Misaki disapers.

So now i get Misaki Chronicles and hope somthing pans out where they all eventualy get back together but oh no, it gets worse... Kiri dies... then suzanna looses some of here memory again perminantly about Misaki and then Lyar is left to get old with all her memories whalst Suzanna ( as far as i can tell ) doesnt age due to being in cryogenic stasis. By the time they get back to watchers nest Lyar seems to be about 60 and somhow the base has survived, to me it seems diserted apart from Misaki being there in some form ??

Ok so now my confusion begins...
Misaki says shes been with the others ..seems more like she is living in memories to me? or has she traveled from the other universe ?

.. then you see clips of people entering watchers nest as if getting of the ship Lyar just came on ..is this in the same universe as lyar is/was in on the ship ?

and then you see kiri and luxandra there ?! aint they dead ? they couldnt have been reincarnated/resurrected cuz how would people explain that to there parents or relitives and Suzanna who you see there working (who seems to remember them just not Misaki,)

..then it gets even more confusing when u see Lyar appear young behind Prim ( again isnt Prim dead ?) how can there be 2 Lyars ?

so to me this seems like it must be showing this other universe ..so wheres Misaki .oh yea the little girl you see running ..but wait, if Misaki wants to be happy with her friends why is she like 10 yrs old whalst the others are the same age as they were orginaly? and how can she be there seemingly innocent and unaware of whats happend and be talking to Lyar ( old Lyar ) as the Misaki we all knew in DE & 'most' of Misaki Chronicles

another possibility is that little girl is the baby that Lyar named Misaki.. is this misaki reincarnate or just some girl who bares a slight resemblance and has the same name ?

couldnt be Misaki cuz misaki is still in her room at watchers nest with Lyar ( Old Lyar ) and if it was the baby that Lyar named then these clips must the same univerese as Lyar was in on the ship. but that would then mean all the above (2x Lyars ..kiri and luxandra resurrected.) is happening .. ??Wtf??

if you can undertsand anything iv writen here i give you my respects ..this kinda thing is hard to explain. Can anyone straighten things out for me.. i have never finished watching a film or playing a game and then wonder wtf has hapend before, and its getting on my nerves

HELP PLEASE !!

My respects

Yea man, I am confused...apart from the confusion. I would give this series an 80/100 at least. I don't mind the large breasts...they are still a ways off from Rusyuna in Grenadier...lol.
