The first 24-minute OVA, Uoodo, is scheduled to be released on March 26th on DVD and Blu-ray. There will be six episodes. It is set 26 years after the end of the original TV series.

As seen in the promo video, first OVA seems to take place at the time of Vanilla's and Coconna's 25th wedding anniversary. They plan to go on a trip to revisit Uoodo, Kummen, Sunsa and Quent, which triggers memories of Chirico Cuvie. They meet up with Gotho (how old is he at this point?!) at some point and begin searching for Chirico. A younger man with the same hair color and dour expression that Chirico had is also shown in the promo as Vanilla's and Coconna's daughter wonders about "that person" -- Chirico.

I think it's cool that they are indeed using the intro and outro from the classics 80's TV series like I expected. No more CGI mecha like from Pailsen Files either, it's all the same animation style for characters and mecha this time around.

You sure the AT Battling wasn't CG? It did look a hell of a lot better than Pailsen Files' ATs did, in any case. Happy to say that it's in actual HD this time, unlike the upscaled Pailsen Files movie.

Additionally, OVA2 will be out April 23rd and OVA3 on June 25th.

Argh, can't wait for the next episode...looks like Chirico finally shows up! As much as I loved their trip down memory lane, the lack of the usual Chirico-awesomeness around the place was pretty noticeable.

I guess so. =\

Anyway, the third episode was a bit 'meh' for me...probably because I couldn't remember who that old lady was supposed to be back in the day.
