i would suggest you not stray into /g/ though sometimes there is real artful work. but 99% no.

My guess is that it's the little girl you have on the bottom corner of your desktop? It seems like lots of Chinese people have them. Mind telling me where to get it?

@ChibiDusk: Are you using VLC for audio, or are you going to watch something on it? Probably a .mkv file right? I really hated VLC, and i found a much better way to play those annoying .mkv files!!! Get BSPlayer and download something called Matroska. Get it here: http://downloads.matroska.org/packs/ and get BSPlayer at: http://www.bsplayer.org i think.

I'm just guessing, but it's windows. Because there is a C: drive. Also, there is the Daemon tools icon.. and, in the system tray, the WIndows Volume control icon, along with the nVidia drivers icon. And the window he has open looks like Explorer (the Windows logo in the top right corner of it)

There are lots of other Windows program icons in the task bar. Granted, you could get that in Linux too if you wanted [edit, the icons that is]. (Probably OSX too?), but, why? (in a neutral sense)

Yes, I'm using Windows 2k, although customized with skins, icons, cursors, and everything I have thought of personalizing. As to the transparency program, it's Glass2k that I found from Snapfiles.com (freeware => Desktop tools). It has some problems, but works otherwise quite nicely. Desksweeper can be found from the same place. ;)

That.... is.... a lot of eyes. Here I was thinking my Kanon character group staring right at you was bad (which constituted some 12 pairs of eyes, and KANON eyes no less - if you know Kanon and it's ilk you'll know that saying the characters have exceptionally large eyes is something of an understatement)

USB500 - thumbs up for a Mai desktop (though it was sometime ago), good show on the Ciel walls too ^_~. Oneesama - Nice Arc wall!

Indeed, it is a close associate of Mai who is the subject of my latest wall, one who receives rather less attention than she deserves. The difference is I was brave enough (or foolish) to attempt to create a wall for the amazing Magical Sayuri myself. I hope I've captured the 'Kanon' feel well enough ^^. If you are feeling overly warm I think you will find it quite 'refreshing' - that is, if you can stand to look at such shockingly bad skills with graphical software.

I think that it's actually still quite a popular operating system for lower end computers I think... I myself still had Windows 98 installed up until this past summer (My Windows is now 2000). I'm always a little behind the times when it comes to Windows :heh: But Windows 2000 does its job.

Eh, I found tribes vengence to be not that great compared to such masterpieces as Tribes 2 and the original. They removed the complexity and versatility that made Tribes, well, Tribes. It's fun, but it just can't keep my attention like its predecesors did. Ah well.

Rainlendar for the calendar, using the Modernize skin. As for the stats, it's Samurize with a layout I've been changing ever since I stole the original from some guy's config ages ago, now it bears almost no resemblance.

Great programs though.

You have no idea how to make a desktop [edit, screenshot]? If so.. usually for Windows, hit the print screen key, then open up a graphics program (even as simple as MS Paint) and do an Edit>Paste, or a Ctrl+V.

In Linux, there are different ways to do it, but I personally use Imagemagick's import. (eg, import -window root file.jpg)

My newest wallpaper based on my newest addiction: Star Ocean 3 Till the End of Time. I got the original images from the square-enix site, edited out all the technical babel on the bottom, and added the picture of Fayt and Sophia. 1024x768 scaled down to 800x600.

Also, my friend also recently created a wallpaper, his first. I wanted to see it, so he showed me, and from my more experienced mind, i saw several vital errors. I asked to correct them, and he let me. So, i got rid of a character in it, changed and moved the text, moved a logo, changed the background, and filtered the character remaining. But he won't let me have any credit for it!!!!1 Buahh!!! Should i get credit , and my name on it, or not?

On my laptop, I'm using OpusOS. The guy at web9design made it, it's pretty well known and a pretty damn functional skin. As for the artist, the laptop one is a Russian guy, forget his name right now, should be on the image though.

But nah, none of the artists are the same as the one who did Magnacarta.

Edit: Oh, I meant the artist for the person who I replied to, not my stuff. I forget that artist's name completely, assumedf that since s/he had the pic, s/he had seen the artist's other stuff. It's REALLY good. Like, really, really good.

I have the link somewhere, I'll look for it when I return from class.

Nah, the quality loss is because the images by that artist are posted up at about 950 width. So I have to resize it, looks bad. And I can't find the guy's site in my bookmarks, I'll get it eventually.

Why don't you try wincustomize.com, WindowBlinds is it's version of stylexp.

I've well over a gig worth of images used in desktops, sharing them all would cost too much money. I DO have some images up on my site though. Take a look at the "wallpaper" section.

I might increase the number in the near future.

And jeez, you take every chance to advertise opera, don't you? It deserves it, certainly, it's nice to have a complete browser instead of a skeleton like firefox, but still.

If I could recall the exact source of the image, I'd be more than glad to let you know. Kino's Journey/Adventure images and wallpaper are so few and far inbetween, most of them I usually snatch off of image boards or fansites. (but, if you want this image in particular, I can always link you to it as is, minus the desktop icon crap)

Halo 2 comes out here in the badlands of game releases tomorrow, still, a 2 day delay is remarcably short for a console game release here in Europe, we're talking 6 months later release of FF games.

Kino's Journey/Adventure images and wallpaper are so few and far inbetween, most of them I usually snatch off of image boards or fansites. Rather than help proliferate a debate on the failings (and otherwise) of Shinji Ikari - I'll just post my latest desktops :)

Since there was such an incursion of AIR desktops featuring nothing but Misuzu... Misuzu... and more Misuzu - I felt some other characters were needed from AIR. This one features Kanna and is the best of the bunch - although I have a few for the more recognised Kano and Minagi that will no doubt receive 'AIR' time soon enough (sorry, couldn't resist)

The right side features an excellent image of Hurricane Lili from 2002. I like. A lot. Nature is an impressive beast.

Warning : this desktop is not very horizontally friendly on the forum layout

Ahhh... HP. Actually, i've seen this very laptop, my friends sister has it.

The one nice feature about the HP over the identical Compaq is the DVD writer. The Compaq doesn't seem to have that feature. Heh... looks so much better than mine too... mine's a beast... i think around 10 pounds. :(
