Meh. I was using it on Gentoo and it wasn't all that great. KDE's window manager provided more functionality. I may try it again though as they just released version 0.20.

that's 71 in total not including those on objectdock but that is only there for show since I decided to bring back the quicklaunch bar since it keeps the icons from cluttering up the desktop

Changed mine to something blue, since my previous wally was pretty green. This one reminds me of swimming, which, incidentally, is something I do twice a week. Too bad that the deepest pool in Vaasa is only 4.1m. Would want to try out a bigger and better pool soon.

I'm using ObjectDock Plus. The proggy has an option where you can scale the icon size and rollover magnification to match your needs. The icons are from various icon packs found on Deviant Art (.ico and .png)

The media player is Winamp. Skin is Spirit White (http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/10310941/).

I'm not familiarized with Micro$hit's latest evil child, but ain't that Vista he's using?
Actually, It's XP media Center Edition w/ Window Blinds 5.0. I get alot of people asking me "Oh, is this Vista?" remark pretty much every day ^^;;

Use the "Print Screen" key above the "Insert" key. Then open any editing program like mspaint and paste into that. Then save.

Mueti i notice your computer can read other language besides english, can u tell me a program that can read other language text like japanese or chinese because whenever those text show in my computer the just pop out question marks ???? ?? ?? ?? ?? ? ?? etc...... or sometimes weird stuff like ╛ÿ. I believe that's Rainmeter (http://vapaa.dc.inet.fi/~rainy/legacy.html). There is a newer version but I don't use it anymore so I'm not sure if they will work with the older skins. The one shown on that desktop can be found here (http://sk2b.hp.infoseek.co.jp/).

hiro01 is right, that's rainmeter (http://vapaa.dc.inet.fi/~rainy/legacy.html), the skin can be found on this site (http://sk2b.hp.infoseek.co.jp/), (since direct linking doesn't seem to be allowed: Skin Gallery, 5th column, 3rd line).
I don't know about support for other media players but when not listening to music it displays things as cpu-, network-, memory- and disc-usage.

i found out the hard way. i have an ati card (R200 series) and was trying to get beryl on top of AIGLX and it just wasn't flying. it broke me heart to hear the news.

but there's still hope for these blasted ati cards. if you're going to be using ATIs proprietary drivers then you have to use XGL instead. but if you insist on AIGLX then you'll have to use ATIs open source drivers, either using kernel provided drm modules or installing x11-drm modules separately.

i'm running beryl | AIGLX | with ATIs open source kernel drm modules.

default key binding is <control><alt> left/right arrows
or click/hold middle mouse button and move to a desired position.

Well, though every judgment on this is of course subjective, I find it a terribly nice eye candy. Gorgeous. Besides, in terms of utility, the usefulness of having several "desktops" (though, technically, you have several multiplications of a single desktop) can help those of us who hate cluttered windows. But, other than that, it's a good way to show Vista how a free product can beat theirs in terms of eye-candiness and performance (Aero takes an absurd amount of RAM from the system, like 3 times what Beryl takes, and its effects suck compared to Beryl. Let's not forget that Aero and the so called "3D desktop" comprise about 75% of Vista's promotional campaign :P).

this is the first for me running beryl and it's just nice to look at when you're at your computer. the sad thing for me would be that i had to stop using my favourite and first flavour of linux i started out with, being Slackware. i made the decision to go Gentoo and played with beryl. before that desktop up there i've been using alot of fluxbox and sometimes gnome when i went hungry for gtk.

Virtual desktops aren't new though. Beryl just made the effect of switching between them 3d. Most of the WMs and DEs that I can think of have had the feature for years.

Either way, I'd have a tough time running that with Aero activated in my modest machine. Beryl manages just fine, with more eyecandy to it than the 3D desktop (which is only part of the fun).

And the virtue desktop project you linked seems to be abandoned.

No, the alt-tab command works for the face of the cube you're seeing only. But if you have a window manager dock program, if you click on the active window, the cube will spin till the face where the window is.

The Firefox thingy seems quite annoying... I like my tabs to be tabs, no cubes -_-;

You can't just learn it overnight. Probably you'll have to take a specialized course for it. Of course you can try to learn it for like HTML and such from like tutorials online and such, but that's up to you and it can seem hard at times. Personally I'm just learning it myself, though i've practically given up on it and moved on to C++ and such. Learning Japanese is the same. Personally if you want to learn Japanese, try thisbook (http://www.amazon.com/Japanese-Grammar-Barrons-Carol-Akiyama/dp/0764120611). I use this one, and I find it 100 times better than that crappy Rosetta Stone crap.

I've noticed that many of ya'll have pretty kickass high quality high res wallpapers. Where do ya'll get them usually? I found a few here and there but I have trouble findin good wallpapers for 1280x1024 (or 1280x960).
