this is just the begining, as you can see my taskbar doesnt match up to the theme. this by the way is active desktop, basically im using a webpage i made as my desktop.

its not perfect but hopefully when im done it will be.

im also gonna make the bg rotate on a daily basis in the future. and have the font change as well to suit the wallpaper

It's a program for linux called karamba. From what I've seen it's a primitive cousin of samurize. (never used samurize though-I don't have xp). Anyway, it allows me to display various information on my desktop...like what's playing in my audio player in the picture. My audio player is Xmms. Video player is xine.

http://archlich.dyndns.org/winbox-only.png is my windows desktop .... kinda vanilla but sleek and nondistracting, it gets the job done. The wallpaper is a multicolor gradient courtesy of some basic photoshop skills. The windows theme is also a custom one.

The wallpaper is a standard issue "techno" wallpaper snagged from http://www.deviantart.com/view/4055794/ -- it happens to be one of today's "favorites" -- which is cool, since this is the third day I've been using it :-D.

http://archlich.dyndns.org/3systems.png is my winbox running vnc'ed into my ibook and ssh'ed into my debian box running a gnome session. A bit messy, but that's the way it is sometimes. The ibook is showing off transparency effects and is shelled into the environment I usually do my coursework on.

56k'ers and everyone else DEFINITELY beware -- images are png -- bigger than jpg. -- images are around 1.0 MB each. (no jpeg artifacting though).

*watches his bandwidth usage suddenly spike*

Hi people I want to post my desktop, but I don't have any screen capturing software does any of you guys know of a good place where I can get one? Sorry for posting this in this thread I think someone already asked before, but I couldn't find the post or thread. So I'm asking here and I didn't want to start a pointless thread so can someone help me? I don't know if posting a link about this on here is legal so I guess you can PM me also about this.

if you have windows os, on your keyboard their should be a key which says "Print Screen" hit it once then open up MS paint, click edit > paste. then from there you can save it as a jpg file and upload it onto an image hosting site such as www.uploadit.org.

hey guys I couldn't resist, now that I knew how to post my desktop....SO I went wallpaper hunting today for like 40 minutes. I got lots of new wallpaper now :D . This one is my current dektop. I picked this one because it kind of matches my whole desktop. It's from kiddy grade...I never saw an episode of this show, but I thought the wallpaper looked nice.

Ehhh actually I'm not so keen on it myself. Its just that I can't find anything that matches with it and I am sick of just plain silver at the moment. The only reason I have it currently is because it matches the purple in the desktop. At least I think it does :heh:

I use an active desktop, it's really cool. It's sorta like a movie when it start and when that sequence ends, you have a random desktop and it changes after some time. Yeah. This is what a virgin windows looks like. I took this shot when I reformatted my machine. Notice how Windows Media Player pops up and plays music on the startup. This was funny since I didn't have the drivers for my sound card installed! Sometime soon I'll post what windows looks like now since I defiled it.

I only found one and its the mac os x one pictured in all my desktop posts in different colors and for this one different symbol (formerly was windows and now its an apple). I found out that everything went much faster if I just used the Quick menu. :)
Almost the same in Opera, I have no buttons, I do all my browsing with mouse-gestures only. :D

Yeah. This is what a virgin windows looks like. I took this shot when I reformatted my machine. Notice how Windows Media Player pops up and plays music on the startup. This was funny since I didn't have the drivers for my sound card installed! Sometime soon I'll post what windows looks like now since I defiled it.

Yes, the two big screens are connected to a Geforce 4 4800se and the little one to a Voodoo Rush PCI card.
all three run the same desktop so you can shove windows left and right to other screens.. it's really handy.

eh, so you only care for the bottom half of the stuff, and if people are born that way, i think that half is pretty good. and yeah, until i'm windows free, it doesn't matter what type of wallpaper i have, the desktop will just look like a big lump of puu, with it's ugly icons and big fat stupid task bars.
