Select the japanese input method. Then you should see a little flag in the menu bar at the top of the screen. From there you can select one of the Japanese input methods. Once you do that you can type in Japanese. You can select to be able to use a different input method for different documents (so your browser can be in Japanese but your IM app will be in english).

But in Windows, you have to actually paste the shot and then save it... you could've chosen JPG (which is one fourth the size of a PNG file), there's no waste of time ;)

True, but you wouldn't be saying that if you ever had to use my dad's computer. Let me give you a hint: It was new 9 years ago. He has a "high-speed" internet connection, but running on a Windows 98 era comp, it takes (no kidding) 5 minutes for any webpage to load. If the computer can't handle it, high-speed internet is just so much wasted money... :rolleyes:

And yes, I must admit I do have high-speed internet, so I guess I have a double advantage. :)

Jpeg may be 1/4 the size of a png file, but if he's using Paint, it comes out at 1/4 the quality as well.

Sure. I'm using panelsui and the config is by someone called moglenstar. I only made a few changes of my own. His original pui can be found here (http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=175690&st=6859&p=588577850&#entry588577850), which you'll need in order to use the updated version. (http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=175690&st=6900&p=588579080&#entry588579080)

To be honest, it's a bit of a pain setting it up. You'll have to follow the discussion in that thread in order to understand the quirks of the config. Well, that was my experience at the very least. I had to resolve some minor issue with the images not completely showing up.

Anyway, I apologize if this is somewhat confusing.

I get some fro AnimePaper too but that bandwidth deal only lets you get so many. My first account ran out so I went next door with my laptop and used my neighbor's wireless and made a new account to get more :p . I like this Konachan site. It has a lot of them that are just straight images with no text all over them. I really liked a lot of the anime paper ones but they had text all over them I didn't want (I'm not talkin about the copyright crap either). Like I woulda liked this one D.Gray-Man paper better if it didn't have Kikoe Masu Ka? written in big letters on it.

take screenshots by pushing the print screen button (PrtScr or whatever) then you paste it into MS Paint of whichever image do-whacky you like to use (listen to this extremely technical speak here :p ) and save it. Save it as a jpeg or something so it won't be a ridiculously huge file.

The left bar (the Mac-like one) is done with a software called RocketDock, it's totally free. Once you have it, you can go on the net and search for ".png" icons (images) you want for your programs, you can also get different "backgrounds" themes for behind the icons.

The bar at top is simple, Winamp, modern skin (the default one), set up in bar mode (you can click the double "=" bars in the right corner (between the X and the _)), or double click anywhere on your Winamp. After that you can adjust the width of the bar, I made it long to fit my "setup".

Well my old laptop fried outta no where while I was wrenchin on my car a week or 2 ago. Had it playin some music and it just frickin stopped. Laptop died :(

Oh well I got a new one now. Still kind of a crappy laptop but certainly better than what I had. Went from Regular 15" HP with a Mobile Sempron 2800+, 512MB RAM, 40GB HDD, ATI Radeon Xpress 200, XP Home SP2 to a much newer but still low end 15" Widescreen Compaq with a Celeron M 440, 1.5GB RAM, 80GB HDD, Intel 945M, and Vista Home Basic. Ugh, I hate Intel and Vista. It bein a Celeron makes it worse but hey I didn't pay but $50 for it.....My dad paid the other $375. I paid the $50 so the guy would still leave the memory upgrade. Not bad for the price, only 3 months old, never registered so i registered it and got a 1 year warranty. Damn, when am I ever gonna get a hold of a Turion 64 X2 laptop with dedicated nVidia graphics? Oh wait, next year when I leave home for college instead of going to community college :)

Anyway, on with my new lappy's desktop.

The left bar is a software where you can place some shortcuts it is called RocketDock. You can also make use your own icons with some ".png" or ".bmp" pictures.

I have a somewhat relative suggestion in regards to desktop wallpapers. I have been using Panorama32 for well over a year now. It is a simple program that can run in the background and not take up too much resources at the same time. You can select which wallpapers you like and let them change automatically every interval you choose. For instance, my background changes every 30-minutes. For my new Vista Laptop, I just use the standard theme in blue and I've added 2 gadgets since my last screen shot. I have the CPU/RAM meter and the slide show. I have the slide show showing my anime wallpapers.

Well, I originally wanted to load XP Home SP2 with the license key from my old laptop, but since this little SOB has 1.5GB of RAM in it so other than the time it takes to load Windows, it runs pretty damn good. Until Vista really pisses me off, I'm gonna leave it alone for now.

I am gonna put my old laptop's drive in it and do a repair install of XP so I can move my stuff from My Documents to a non-private folder so I can put the drive into a external enclosure and remove the files. If I like how XP orks on it then i just may downgrade faster.

I beta tested RC2 and swore never to buy it. That's why I got my mac, and the fact that my 5yr old XP computer was dying a slow, painful death.
So now I just run OS X with a XP boot camp for games.

From what I've heard "through the grapevine", Vista will never "officially" have a SP1. Only periodic updates to the system. So, you may be waiting for quite some time.

I've always used basic desktops up until recently. I'm wantin it to look cooler. I only started using 3rd party themes a few months ago in XP. For the longest time I just used the XP Silver theme and Wallpapers of different Hondas or Wallpapers of B-17 bombers or P-57 Mustangs and German, American, British, or Russian tanks from WWII.

I think they are using "Rainmeter." Personally, I do not use third party applications to show me the performance of my system. I just use the tools that came with the system - it reduces the overall load of resources.
