Got my Windows 7 Beta copy. Haven't installed it yet. I'm installing Ubuntu 8.10 on another desktop right now. Tomorrow, I'll check my old XP install on my main rig and see if there's anything I need to save (I don't think so) then install Windows 7 over it.

And no Windows 7 screenshot. No point. Windows 7 performed worse than Vista on my rig. Even have benchmarks to back it up. My CPU score in 3DMark Vantage was more than 5 times higher in Vista. The CPU scores were just ridiculously bad in 7. I tried everything to boost the scores but nothing worked.

hey, at least there's a case now.... there have been times when it was just a bunch of cards and wiring strewn across the table --- this case was *almost* perfect for my tinkering needs. (see below)

I used to even run a wallpaper rotator but selecting one is kind of personal "mood of the day" moment. A gnome death knight amuses me... usually its pics of whatever my favorite anime is at the moment.

Is that the Skeleton PC Case? How does it do? Is it worth getting?
1) Yes, its the Antec Skeleton.
2) For my purposes, it works fine - very easy to add and subtract hardware on a whim. It has a minor flaw and a major flaw:
2a) minor flaw: cabling can be a bit obnoxious unless you have a modular cable power supply and and a bit longer than average SATA cables.
2b) major flaw: it lacks headroom for some of the steroid monster CPU heat sinks. If your heatsink is taller than a video card, it won't fit. Limitation on heatsink diameter depends on the crap on the mobo. If you really MUST overclock significantly - you might look into liquid cooling.
3) No, its total overkill and pricey in the froufrou doodad department :) :) :) :). Really its got a ridiculous price tag.
But I like it because its damned quiet with that huge fan, its ultra easy to modify (which I tend to do a lot) and it actually collects far less dust than a standard case. Plus I just think it looks like a piece of art....

Also, I ran into one guy on my commuter train today that was carrying a fairly tricked out looking midtower - with no side panels on it. I couldn't help but think of this thread.

Turns out I had a copy of my laptop wallpaper on this computer anyway, so I'll just post that. Only difference is that my laptop uses a 1280X800 version. And yeah, I do have some icons, but they're typical Windows XP stuff you've seen a million times before:

ok.. wow, I usually cringe when I link to an .ru site (one of the country domains that often deal malware to visitors) .... but some really interesting pics (some NSFW).

Therefore, I decided to try using the pic my avatar is based off of as a wallpaper:

The measure is the CPU %.

I have MacFUSE (http://code.google.com/p/macfuse/) installed with the NTFS-3G (http://www.ntfs-3g.org/) plugin which allows writing to NTFS formatted drives. After that I just Right Click the drive, Get Info, and copy the icon to the drive as I would any other icon.

Update to the latest version (2.5). Older versions do not work on Leopard or may be buggy. The older version on my old Mac refused to apply custom fonts to most of my programs until I updated it.

Make sure you have Silk 2.1.4 installed, if you do, try changing the font under Font Settings in Silk and relogin. If nothing changes, try reinstalling Application Enhancer 2.5b and Silk 2.1.4.

There is another way, but involves modifying the system fonts and it's a bit involved.

"Fill Screen" is a wallpaper option on Mac OS X (since I use Mac OS X most of the time). I'm sure it's Stretch in Windows.

BTW: The actual size of the image is 2666x1726.
