I use XMMS, but if you're not on Linux then you probably want to use a WinAmp plug-in instead. I have a couple of links from my site to pages at Vorbis' site that list ogg players, encoders etc. Click Music and then click "Why we use Vorbis Ogg format", the two links are near the bottom and say 'here' and 'here'.

No offense to anybody here... depsite I am a computer guy and major, is it just me or most of us are sitting in front of a computer to long... xD I mean I decorate my desktop too and a lot of ppl do it, and it doesn't mean we spend most of our time doing this. But aren't we over doing it?? :heh:

Thanks, I managed to find a .ogg filter for Cool Edit Pro which is far more useful. I'm afraid I can't get your desktop link to work though, for some reason.

Oh man, that wallpaper even has my name on it!! I'll give you the source to mine you you give me your source. Anyways the picture is one that my friend took. It just really appealed to me so I took it and scanned it. Heres the source. Okay, so this technically isn't a "desktop.." but some zealous people might consider it so.
I made an Azumanga bootsplash theme for myself. Includes silent splash screen and console frame buffer background.
Now, I couldn't figure out how the heck to take a screenshot of the silent splash screen, so I just used my camera to snap a picture... sorry for the terribly quality lol. (this also explains the scan line that is visible on the image)

If anyone can tell me how to take the screenshot of the silent splash screen, I could post it again.
Anyways... so yeh, I stole that console frame buffer background image from someone else in this thread :heh: It just worked perfectly.
The silent splash screen originally had a Mac logo above the "think different." But since this is a Linux box, I just erased it. Dunno what happened, but the hiragana "a" (not the letter a.. the sound.. haven't figured out how to type hiragana in Linux yet) in the top right corner got pixelated after saving it as a jpg in Gimp... will worry about that another day though...

I like your icons. They look surprisingly similar to Gentoo's "l33t" icons (http://www.gentoo.org/dyn/icons.xml) (as I notice by the recycling bin icon). The lighting effects look exactly the same. Maybe that's why I find them so attractive :heh:

Zabuzalover, I suggest you to not to use bmps and to try jpg files to show your desktop, it'll load way faster and you won't have to reduce the size like this :)
Using spoilers is also a good idea too for bigger resolutions.

Been a while.. and.. this month is Azumanga Daioh month here.
So.. some pages back, you see that I have an Azumanga bootsplash theme and console background.
I've recently put some azumanga wallpapers as my backgrounds. In addition, I've been trying my hand at FVWM2. :twitch: .. :heh:
Anyways... all the little windows are thumnails of the windows that are minimized. (In case you think that I have a monsterous resolution.. I don't lol. The image posted is not scaled).
My .fvwm2rc is taken from mostly from a guy named Syzygy, and then I mashed some of another person named ikaro's code into it (iconify/thumbnail stuff).

if you're in windows. Press Printscreen and then open an image editing program and click edit --> paste. Then save it as .jpg. Then upload the image to a host and put the url of the image between these two bulletin board tags -->
Well, i've changed my desktop finally :P . The distro i'm using at the moment is Suse 9.1 Pro, KDE 3.2 and SuperKaramba with some RSS feeds and CPU static viewers.

Well, time for me to jump in here with my desktop. I've reduced it to 800x600 as I run 1400x1200 standard resolution, so if I showed it at full size, I'd probubly kill your connection and my webserver at the same time. hehe. 10,000 people leaching the image at once tends to do that. :D

If you're curious what I'm running, that is KDE 3.2.1 on top of Freebsd 4.10 Patch #2. :D The desktop is also very clean because I'm huge on keeping a clean and organized desktop free of perty much everything. ;)

However, I just thought that maybe at least one person would find it amusing that if I use aalib as a video output with mplayer, I can watch Azumanga Daioh in ASCII art rendered in real time. (Eg, if I wanted to, I could watch Madlax in ASCII art on the fly as well).

Lol, thanks for the compliments. Haha, I can't say that it's the most useful, but it's certainly quite amusing. aalib is pretty crazy. People have even used it to render Unreal and Quake. (However, I haven't tried those).
For those who want to try this, compile mplayer and aalib so that they can mplayer can use aalib as a video out. You can check if you've done it right by doing:mplayer -vo help. You should see "aa" in the list. Then simply run:mplayer -vo aa file.avi. I'm not sure how this works under Windows, however, as you'd probably have to figure out how to compile aalib to be used by the Windows version of mplayer..

I thought it was the regional settings so I switched it back to US and it still works. I have only 2 skins that work and the others don't(out of which most are the non-classics), so I think it's really skin dependant. If you want to try they are called Genesis and ZaxonRemake. Also try adding Japanese in language options.

Also if it still doesn't work, try putting your regionnal parameters in Japanese.

I found another way if your skins don't have pledit(most of mine are single .wsz files).
Go to winamp.ini and look for the lines:
playlist_custom_font=Arial
custom_plfont=0
Change the 0 to 1 and replace Arial with any Japanese supported font.

I'm gonna go off on an anecdote about my desktop. As you can see, there are my two acoustic guitars. To my right is my Washburn acoustic dreadnought, model D12SNM. To my left is my Hondo acoustic dreadnought, model H-18E. As you can see the massive fret-wear because I play so much. I have a small fraction of my computer games on the desktop. I was watching "Puppets who Kill" on my mini TV on comedy network (love that show). My table is a bit of a mess, with various guitar accessories strewn about. That little fuzzy red line between the beer and the optical mouse is my pick. There's the mike, which I sometimes use to record myself. Various books about on top too (a bit blurry, they're "A Clockwork Orange", "1984", "Ulysses", and "Lolita" from top to bottom. I think that's enough bragging for the night :D ...
My computer desktop is a wallpaper of Windows 2000-chan. Because Windows 2000-chan is the cutest of all other OS :heh: ! She's sooo cute, I can stare at her all day.

I switch to Hiragana and type, "ano..." which shows up as, "あの。。。" I then hit enter to confirm and it turns into "?????"
Any other suggestions? What versions of Winamp are you guys using? Mine says v5.03a. I recall that people on the Winamp forums say that Winamp does not and will not support unicode or something like that. So, I dunno. lol :heh:

That's funny. Why is it the Japanese one has better voice acting than the original Korean one? Korean voice acting in video games is very weak. The voices often don't match the characters and in some occasions some of the voice actors do multiple characters(like 3-4 characters).
Ah well. Hopefully this game will come to the US as well. The character designs are fantastic and the gameplay isn't too shabby either.

Also, did you reboot the computer?
Also, please, try MS UI Gothics instead of that other font.
Note that you won't get to see the text in the infos without Winamp PRO : with it, you should be able to get all to work though, but you need to buy it :D

I created using Photoshop set for 254 kb, but it got shrunken to 209 without my consent. A retry yielded the same results. :(

Actually, for reasons unknown to me, Photobucket auto-resized it. I created using Photoshop set for 254 kb, but it got shrunken to 209 without my consent. A retry yielded the same results. Valid file types: jpg, gif, png, bmp
Images larger than 250kb are automatically resized ^_____~

Yay, thank you Thany, it's working now. The main issue was that I was trying to follow your dialogs verbatim. However, you have Windows XP, right? I have Windows 2000, so the dialogs are a little different.
It turns out that I can leave the "Your locale" box as English, but then have to click the "Set default..." button and select Japanese there.
I can see it all now. :) It looks a lot more pretty now.
Now....... anyone up for helping me get xmms to do the same..... :twitch: :heh: ;)

Yeah, I love the icons. Found them on gnome-look.org! They are so nice. You can get the full versions here: http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=14560. They are a few different styles too.
You're using gDesklets right?
Actually, no I'm not. The icons are idesk, and the cpu monitor/stats is gkrellm2. My last screenshot had gDesklets, but I decided to stop using it because it was just too much on my desktop, and my computer is a little slow. The thumbnails along the side are minimized windows. fvwm can iconify windows to the desktop and use a png icon you specify. And then I guess that someone figured out that you could take a screen shot of the window and use that as the icon on the fly. That's what those are.
What DE/WM? I'm still running gnome, but I want to get rid of the standard launch bar completely and select everything by right clicking on the desktop.
My WM is fvwm-2.5.10 (http://fvwm.org), and my fvwm2 config file is based of a guy named Syzygy (http://desintegr.free.fr/?page=linux/fvwm). Other good configs to try are ikaro's and taviso's. Here is a massive fvwm thread (http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=80517) on Gentoo's forums. I haven't read through the whole thing myself, but you could probably get some good ideas and config files from there.

Ok, here's my login screen. Not anime... but I like it.
Before you view it, note that it looks rather boring. BUT, it looks much better when you see it in person, because it's 3d. You're actually flying through the 3d tunnel, but I didn't bother to figure out how to make an animated screenshot of it. Use your imagination ^_^ (The background is actually an OpenGL screensaver)
Also.. another note, a lot of the stuff on the login dialog is greyed out, but it normally should be in colour...

Personally I only have the recycle bin on my desktop at the lower right corner with my taskbar autohidden, showing my wallpaper in all its glory!!
My roommate's PC is almost covered with icons, sometimes I just feel the urge to highlight those shortcuts and throw em into the bin. http://www.shift-o.net/images/hiku.gif
