Welcome to Umineko no Naku Koro ni - Favorite Character(s) Poll [Witch's side] - the place where you can express all of your love towards your favorite Umineko witches, demons and furniture.

Because of the huge number of important characters in this series, two threads have been created in order to allow everyone to vote for all their favorite characters. As such, the present thread is covering characters from the witch side. If you wish to vote for Battler and other characters related to the human's side, please go to this thread (http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=90584).

You can vote for multiple characters all at once in this poll. Your vote is final once you click on the "vote now" tab. You won't be able to comeback and vote a second time for another character. Choose wisely!

Please remember this thread is destined for anime watchers and VN readers alike. Therefore, do not post any spoilers at all, and try to vote for characters you like based on Episode 1-4 events only, in order to allow people to understand your comments should you post any.

My favorite characters in Umineko are Sakutarou and Virgilia.

Sakutarou is so adorable, I love seeing him in his plushie or human form. I like the seiyuu choice for him too, I think Minori Chihara did a fine job playing him.

Virgilia was one of my favorites for a long time now. I love her personality and her design is pretty, I also think Kikuko Inoue did a great job voicing her.

I wasn't sure if the Stakes and Siestas were going to be on the poll or not. Since they are, my third vote went to Siesta 45.

I like Siesta 45's rather timid and bumbling personality, and aside from the skimpy outfit she has one of my favorite designs.

Virgillia: Definitely favorite character on the Witches side. I love her character and she's so mysterious and I love her OKAY I'LL SERVE YOU SOME DELICIOUS TEA thing<3 Iunno, I just love her character the most out of all.

Gaap: Second favorite, awesome personality, great design. I love her attitude and I think she has one of the best designs, she's just pretty awesome.

Ronove PU KU KU. One of the most amusing characters ever and makes me smile every time he appears on the screen. His fight with Jessica is bonus points, as well. He's the most amusing character on the Witches side.

Eva Beatrice: Kind of a bitch, but even so, I like her character plenty. Favorite character on the Witches side for episode 3. Ep 4 just eh.

Bernkatsel: Not comparing my love for her in Higurashi since it's different than in Umineko, even with how cruel she is, I like her character a lot. I just do.

Beato: I don't really know why..she's just so fun when she gets mean but she can be so melodramatic as well. I've only watched the anime and I gotta say, her character is confusing as hell (so far). Which is sort of nice xD

Ronove: Cheeky Buttler with a sense of humor, need I say more? Oh, and he's not a typicle bishie or shota, but no old guy either.

Lamda: I love her character. Such a care-free sadist!

Satan: Angry people are amusing. Well, in anime.

Gaap: Despite her whore-ish dress, I like her for some reason. Must be the name...Gaaaap:heh:

My votes:

Bernkastel: No matter who she truly is, I always liked her role and aura around her. Of course, she is nowhere close to Frederica Bernkastel in term of personality, but nevertheless, I do not mind her "horrible" behavior that is hinted in the end of Episode 4 (which I still think that leave to a possible 50/50 chance for being a protagonist or antagonist).
And Yukarin sounds always sexy :3

Virgilia: I always liked her design and her personality suits her role and presence. Voiced by "forever 17 years old" Inoue, she is basically the voice of wisdom (if we give her some slack for her silliness in Ep4). Of course, she was also pretty much a weapon of mass destruction as well... A shame the anime didn't show the extent of Gungnir and Mjollnir.

Ronove: Too bloody brilliant with his jabs and laughter, Ronove was always a very pleasant character, extremely amusing to boot (poking fun to Beato and Battler alike).
And being a skillful butler is always a nice bonus point.

Also voted 2 extra, for the furniture section:

Belphegor: probably the most reasonable of the 7 sisters and I like her design and personality the most, closely followed by Asmodeus. Of course, if you add that duel with Rudolf, it earns her tons of point (quite honorable to accept this, but also brave to shield her moronic master).

Siesta00: Stylish and doesn't look any ridiculous to me, unlike 45 and 410. I always got a fond of that kind of kuudere.

Pretty much like the human's side, the witch's side has a lot of colorful characters that have a merit in several fields, as being entertaining, interesting and so forth.
Of course, Beatrice is among -the- best developed of the lot, though my vote didn't go through because of a bloody mistake of my part *facepalm*.

My favorites are Ronove and Bernkastel.
Ronove is just plain badass and he seems to be more powerful than any of the witches. He always seems to know the answer and has an epic laugh.
Bernkastel always seemed like a nice person, so I never really liked her. But after seeing how cruel she can be, it just makes her more epic...

Beatrice - No questions asked. She's definietly a major favorite, mostly because of the anime to be honest.

Ronove - His jabs at both Battler and Beato always bring a good feeling.

Gaap - One of the more...unique magical characters. While we had friends of Beatrice's that were more intelligent and calm (Virgilia) and more jabbing and sinister (Ronove) we have Gaap, who brings a very good mix of the two together.

Leviathan - total lesbian I don't think the anime did her right, but I still love her whiny attitude nonetheless.

Belphegor - A true bro stake. Taking the bullet for a moron like Evatrice was a truly heroic thing to do.

Siesta 45 - My favorite Siesta. Bumbling and apologetic and just generally fun.

Aaaah great dilemma!
I hesitated between Eva-Beatrice, which reach the higher level of crazyness but not too much (unlike two other characters :().
She represent the pure witch side, the one who use magic for her personnal benefit, but still keep such a class. Furthermore, her seiyuu, though different from what I thought, was just perfect!

But finally, I choosed Virgilia. For me, she represents the motherly, calm, good witch. But it don't prevent her from being powerfull and having experience which she use in order to create perfect plans (North Wind and Sun). The fact that she gave up her title support this vision: She is observing from outside, not carring anymore about her, entirely devoted to the others. She is a character important both for Beatrice and Battler, and I think I can say without a doubt that she is a pillar of the turn of the events.
It is this neutral status, which is benefic for all sides, that makes me love her... and she has the best lines in Ep5, the ones which makes me almost cry :'(.
For me, she is the best character of the entire serie.

I also thought about Bernkastel... but it's no good, the recent events definetly made me throw her out of my poll >:( It is too bad, because in Ep1-4, she was my favorite, but I don't like her anymore. Come back Frederika!!!!

Concerning the furniture, I love Satan. She is not the most remarcable, but I like this, because i feel like she always try to pull attention on her, and like her description says, even if she is incarnation of Wrath, she is also very shy :)
But I confessed that her design is just so MOE!

BEATRIOCHHHHEEEEEE!!!!!!

Honestly, people saying Beatrice's name was probably why I stuck with this anime. Her legends and the flair she has in the villain role make her a totally awesome antagonist. The hints that she is more than just a crazed supernatural killer makes her an all around character. The fact that everything seems to be against her makes her sympathetic.

Of course, her voice acting is great. CONGRULATIONS and ITS PERFECTO are things I'll remember about this anime. Umineko is nothing without the one and only Beato.

I also voted for all the stakes, because they really are that awesome. Besides the fanservicey outfits, they manage to have their own distinct personalities, making me wonder why the "villains" seem to have more development.

Ronove is just a class act for a demon.

I would have voted for Bernkastel because she looks great and reminds me of a certain character from Higurashi. However, she seems to be a total bitch and even though she probably has been through a lot, I can't help but hate her guts especially with what happened with Ange.

Beatrice, of course. Mostly her villain side.

Eva-Beatrice for being a childish psychopath.

Lambdadelta
Idiotic and scary with an overload of cute bows.

Mammon
My favourite stake from the VN.
Greedy and quarrelsome, I liked the grudge she had against Ange and her loyalty towards the end.

Belphegor
Hard working and reasonable, yet devious to turn others lazy.

Lucifer
She represents pride very well, but I feel bad for how much she gets bullied, pride does come before a fall :heh:

Leviathan
I like both her anime and VN versions despite their differences.

Beatrice. No contest.

First of all, because she's the first witch to appear in the series and the second main protagonist next to Battler.

While all the witches' appearances are against the cliche, Beatrice particularily stands out for me because she has the perfect personality to match her role as a witch. She's cruel, but the right amount of cruel. She's not one to toy around with the dead and plans her murders with much thought and uniqueness, which earns many respect points from me.

Another reason is because, just like Battler, she can be very wacky while in a playful mood. If you didn't realize by now I love this quality in a character.

This may be a little weird to say but I also find her very gorgeous, which contrasts with her personality excellently.

I will say so far Ange is my favorite witch but she cant really count my faves are

Eva-Beatrice- If i was a witch (or in my case sorceror) i could see myself easily be like her.

Ronove- Mostly cuz hes almost exactly the same as Sebastian michaels, personality, race, even job wise (I honestly wouldnt know who would win if they fought each other, let alone who to go for)

I like all the stakes, butmy favorite is Belphegor (she always stuck out to me for some reason in the anime) followed by Mammon

I actually really liek almost all of the witches side except the siestas (they really turned me off at first cuz they were so over powered and they were introduced right when i was like FUXX YEAH HUMAN SIDES FIGHTING BACK. and then they came in and there was no hope for the humans anymore. it got better in ep 4 but just barely enough to redeem them). I do love 410 from the anime Nihihi~

Beatrice - She's just an amazing character. Super complex, she's funny, tough, cruel, loving, and tragic. I really would love to see more of Beatrice, she might be my absolute favorite. I'm still debating that.

Bernkastel - I hate her in EP5, but excluding that.. I find her to be an interesting, subtle character. She clearly has a lot going on inside, but she's very calm and collected.

Lambdadelta - Adorable, evil, and goofy. If she weren't on the 'bad side', I'd probably like her a lot more. If I just take her character as its own thing, I find her to be compelling and nicely written.

Mammon - I love Mammon. She's so interesting, and seems to have the most developed personality of the Stakes.

Sakutarou - Just.. too adorable. ;w; Uryuu~!

Considered adding Lia and Gaap too, but didn't.

Beato, no question. Started off as a sadistic bitch (but a great villain because of it) but quickly became one of the most fascinating and endearing characters I've seen in a long time. It's been a great ride seeing all the sides of her character come through little by little so far, and I can't wait to see how it all ends. Clearly, she is a very tragic character, and the final ending is going to be bittersweet because we'll have to accept the death that she so yearns for. In the meantime, I'll continue watching her and how she develops as we make our way through Chiru.

I've said this before, but if not for Sayaka Ohara I definitely wouldn't like her as much as I do. I'm sure I would still have found her fascinating, but not to the level of favorite character...one of the only things I can thank the Anime for is the voice acting, because it honestly has enriched my experience and made me enjoy the franchise so much more. She seriously took the role and made it hers and I wouldn't be surprised if Beatrice turns out to be the highlight of her career in spite of being a rather mediocre and low-budget Anime. Her performance made Beatrice so much more fun, tragic, moe and sadistic all at once. Huge props to her for that.

Besides Beato, my favorite magical characters would have to be Ronove and Virgilia. It's a real shame the Anime got rid of all Virgilia's comic relief moments in EP4, because they really made me like her a lot more. And where would anyone be without a Bronove? My least favorites are Bern and Eva-Beatrice. Lambda...I'm kinda neutral on her, because it's like there are no secrets, and she is what she is and has always been. Bern is sneaky and deceptive and, well, a giant bitch. And Eva-B, well, that should go without saying. She's a character you're supposed to hate (though the people who like those sort of characters may like her, I'm not one of those people). Fantastic villain, though, and she fills her role in EP3 well.

Lambdadelta: I love her. They made a great job with her appearance, a bit short though. But her seiyuu *drools* And at least they put in most of ther Tsun~ moments.

Virgilia: Gapugapugapugapugapu, she was awesome. Sadly though, they left out alot of her jokes and funny scenes. But overall she was an interesting character, and I really liked her design.

Ronove: Ah, Bronove. Who doesn't love you and your perfect seiyuu?

Gaap: I loved the funny face they put on her, her seiyuu was a little dark for me, but it was really good when you got used to it. I also liked her design, and the fact that every time they drew her they had to like spen 1 h for her curls xD

Siesta 45: They captured her character, that's why! A little too sweet voice for me though. But it did fit onto her anime design.

Siesta 410: I wasn't really a fan of her before, but the anime totally turned me around! I loved her design, voice, nyeh~ She's deifinitly one of my favorite characters from here on.

Eva Beatrice: My Evatrice~ I love you~ But... I didn't really like Miki Ito for her seiyuu. Miki Ito is one of my favorite seiyuus but... She just didn't fit as Evatrice. Oh yea, and somehow DEEN made Evatrice much more evil, and much less moe in the anime. WHY?! WAI?! D: They left out all of her moe moments (Ya know... Except for the Evaspin) but still, I really liked her design in the anime, and they kept most of her appearances. So I'm happy about my favorite witch~ Except for... YEAAH

I voted for three characters:

Bernkastel - Although for the most part she seems quite melodramatic, and her appearances in the anime are few, she has a very strong 'feeling' about her. I believe those who need not make showy displays of their power are those who have the most control and mastery of them. Her detached attitude is a wonderful stretch from the rest of the very 'passionate' characters in the story, and for this reason she sticks out all the greater; when she firsts talks to 'us' she tells us flat out that "I am not your ally." but that she would still assist us in order to make the game more interesting. Seeing as how she clearly didn't introduce Ange into the game to make everyone smile and be happy, we can be sure that she's approaching this in a different way from us. How far will she go, and what will she do in the future? Well, that's for the future. :rolleyes: (She's also pretty and has a wonderful voice.)

Virgilia - The beautiful mother figure of the meta-world. Although certain scenes were cut out of the anime which help to strengthen that notion, such as her pampering the upset Siestas; the way she maintains her elegance is one of the reasons why I respect her so much. In EP3, we are to believe that it was Beato's troll, and frankly, that may be very true. But did she not help us, regardless of 'what side' she is on...?

Eva-Beatrice - I can't help it. I love trolls. And Eva-Beatrice is just about the most adorably insane and cruel trolls there could be. She may have only played a major role in EP3, but that was more than enough to seal the deal as one of my most loved characters of the series so far. She genuinely enjoyed herself and basked in her newfound glory as an Endless Witch, and made it very apparent that she would not let anyone get in her way. The way she played around with deaths only shows that she truly was having some 'innocent' fun -- after all, if you can just revive them again, what's so wrong about killing something? Multiple times, even? Perfect logic if you ask me. :p Even if she's not exactly logical, the way she was inevitably dragged into something larger than she anticipated and was eventually destroyed by it was a sad end to a happy marionette (u c wut i did thurr?). Yes, I said it was sad when she was destroyed. :heh:

edit: Honourable mentions go to Bronove, because no one can defeat him in his abnormally playful butler ways, and his sarcasm is a beauty. That, and the sheer amount of Bronove x Battler teasing moments during the SNs are just hilarious.

Belphegor and Siesta 410 are one for each kind of furniture, Ronove for his super sexy voice (I like him much better in the anime) and the three cutsy witches for their sheer beauty... I mean charm.

But my favorite has got to be Lambda. Stupid, cute, and powerful. I couldn't resist.

Beatrice: Started as a 2D villain, developed into one of the more complex characters.

Virgilia: The anime cut out a lot of her good stuff, but she still made a good mentor figure for Battler and helped him become a better opponent.

Ronove: Pukukukuku!

Lucifer: Tsundere! I mostly like her because of the extras.

Belphegor: One of the only Stakes who was responsible. And she even respected her opponent.

Siesta 00: Adorable. Just... adorable.

hauu~~ i really had problem with who to vote because i seriously love EVERYBODY on the witch's side. but i figured it would be stupid to vote for everybody, so instead i only voted for my number one which consist of two characters (though i dont really like ratings either) i wanted to vote for Beato too, but i knew she would be leading anyway so i refrained and for Lady Maria but shes not here, lol. I also considered Evatrice cause shes moe troll buut since i didnt vote for Beato too.... i kinda regret this now XD whatever

and...well...im not really good at explaining why i like somebody. I guess Bern was my instant favourite when i saw her (she just looks like that....like some hime-sama in that gothic lolita dress of hers, drinking tea <3) and also because of her background. She really has some fuked up past... Besides kuudere characters are...well...cool. And i just loooove her tail, i want to have a tail too! >_<
oh, and btw. what was already mentioned before by others, her voice. i just LOVE her voice, its so so sexy, just because she will have a lot more line in it is a good reason for me to cant wait for animated CHIRU :love:

and Lambda is kinda same case...i mean i knew i love her when i saw her, from her pinky design to crazy-eyes faces. And she is the best compromise of tsundere and yandere in one person ive seen so far. Besides she is so childish and honest and so adorable dummy that i cant help but go "awwwww" everytime she says something silly

hm...so...besides this, when i think of it one the factors why i love them the most and from the beginning may be the fact that i was already positively prejudiced towards them because i love higu, and they are the most obvious connection with it i guess

Lambda: Super cute and super sweet. Can be a bit rude sometimes, but she does it mostly out of love for a certain cat-girl-troll. Plus, she reminds me so much of Takano from Higurashi, who I loved to death. ;O;

Bronove: Cause he's Bronove. Can be a total ass or a total gentlemen in the blink of an eye. Plus, his flirtations with Battler is hilarious. xD

Virgilia: Sexy when calm but so moe when she snaps. <3

Gaap: He outfit is just...amazing and I love how she is totally opposite but bffs with Beato. xD

Leviathian: I liked her for some reason...dunno. Maybe cause she was just so envious all the time I pitied her?

Satan: TSUNDERE. And I love tsunderes to death. So...cute.

Mammon: I loved how she had a crush on Ange and just had so much dedication towards her. <3

Beezlebub: I love her hair.

Asmosdeos: Is the most girliest out of the bunch, but that's her charm.

Siesta 00: Don't know much about her, but I love her eye patch and how she is not annoying at all like the other two siestas.

Sakutaro: So cute. ;O;

Eva-Beatrice: Cause she is like the uber-troll version of Eva, who I love to death. Kind of pitied her a lot. I can understand why she did what she did. Was it right? No. But at least it made sense.

I'd vote for three more characters, but sadly they haven't appeared in any anime yet. ;o;

Beato- I love her quirky and sadistic personality that can show a tender and guilty side as well. I love everything about her.

It's too hard to pick just one, so....

Ronove- He's a riot. His comedic relief lines stole my heart and made him one of my favorite characters... and he reminds me of Johnny Depp. xD -SHOT-

Bernkastel- Kick. Ass.

Eva-Beatrice- She's just... I don't even know. I like her a lot.

Virgilia- I love her almost as much as I love Beato (but not quite xD). She's so beautiful, and I've always had a thing for mysterious characters who close their eyes when they talk. O3O

Beatrice: Because she is the most intresting and beautiful character of the story. Is such a strange person, a powerful witch and a beautiful player.
Virgilia: She is my REAL favourite character X3 I love her, since before the beggining of the Anime *ççç* She is beautiful, kind, powerful, mysterious :3
Bernkastel: I also chose her almost for the same reasons above, but in particular beacause I think she is the most mysterious character of all... I quite like her... *ç*

Beatrice: I loved her in the VN, but Ohara made me love her even more with her perfect voice for this insane character.

If i had to pick my favourite characters... i would go with :) :

Beatrice : Come on, shes the main " Bad gal" :P of this anime, but you can argue with that since shes only a pawn. Even so she shows imense spirit and at times, in the final games, she even proves that she can do something other than killing:
Kannon : " However at this moment you are a good witch"
Beatrice : You flater me, furniture "

My second choise would be one of the seven stakes of the purgatory, Lucifer:

Lucifer
Representing the fallen angel Lucifer and the corresponding sin of pride, she is the eldest among all the Stakes of Purgatory and acts as their leader. She is extremely insecure, knowing herself to be the most inferior to her sisters, and fears what they would do if they found out. As such, she acts arrogant and conceited to keep her weaknesses from being discovered. Despite that, she takes pleasure in surrendering on her own accord. Lucifer's appearance is a girl with long, straight black hair.

Belphegor
Representing the demon Belphegor and the corresponding sin of sloth, she is the middle child of the Stakes of Purgatory. She is hard-working and sensible, but only so that her master can become a lazy pig and fall all the harder. Her serious nature makes her the most trusted of her sisters, but she isn't used to being treated with kindness. Belphegor's appearance is a girl with long dark hair in a ponytail.

In the end I went for Ronove, though Belphegor and Siesta410 are really amazing too...I guess it's the 'stache. :heh:
Also, what isn't cool about a moustached gentleman who isn't ashamed to bake cookies and serve tea all day long? Must be nice to have the guy around, seriously. If I could have Ronove as my head furniture I'd be a very nourished man.

Beato: She starts off as a typical villain but then evolves into something much more complex. You can't tell what she's really thinking. I like that, even if it screws up my attempts to understand her.

Lambdadelta: She seems to me as one who is doing this for the lulz. The things she does don't make me hate her, surprisingly. And I love her song. <3333

Ronove: Ah, Bronove. I want someone like him, that can cook and do that stuff. I'd be helpful. And of course, the way he talks and snarks at Beato makes me laugh. He's quite reliable and helpful in his own way.

Belphegor: She probably doesn't have the best hairstyle out of the sisters, but I like her attitude the best. She's quite creative with her vice and I like that she's hard-working and honorable.

Siesta 00: Calm and a no-nonsense person, who takes her duties seriously. A nice contrast between 45 and 410. Plus she has an eyepatch. That makes her even cooler.

Sakutaro: He's cute and nice, a wonderful friend for Maria. Still, I prefer his stuffed lion appearance over his boyish appearance any day.

While over on the human side I was stricken by a lot of indecisiveness...here I wasn't at all. Maybe a little with some of the Stakes, but eh.

From the beginning I loved her. Maybe, again, it's my obsession with Battler/Beatrice. :/
But I love how she can be so damn heartless, and then turn around and look like she genuinely cares. (EP3, anyone? There had to be at least a little truth to that, right?) As SilverSyko said, she's respectable in her insanity. xD
I don't know what it is about her that I love. :/

Eva-Beatrice - Not a fan really, I prefer normal Eva to this Eva just for the sheer lack of concern of family this one has. Especially the fact that she killed her own son(In all fairness, her own husband as well!)!

Gaap - Let's put it simple, she's a whore and I hate her outfit so no go for me. I would never say anything else about someone's vote about her anyway, I do like her little thing around Virgilia though, still not enough to get her my vote though. :heh:

Lambdadelta She is now My very 1st in my polls... I was a bit neutral of her through 1-4, but her Tea parties and trollness was awesome, but EP6...The moment she showed her senstive, emotional (as it could get) side... her fear of insanity, that hell that forever will torment her... :( EP6 made me love her, It did make me think a bit more of the mysterous side of Bern too, but that's a different discussion

Eva-Beatrice by far. Eva herself is one of my favourite characters, and her attitude and goals as a child are just intriguing to me. Trying to rid herself of her predetermined fate due to her gender, trying desperately to surpass Krauss despite overwhelming odds and her general tomboyish nature are all traits that I like a lot. Her "alter ego" self is even more ruthless and I just love her uncaring, immoral attitude. Plus, her outfit is wonderful.

Bernkastel comes second just because she has a similar cold and uncaring attitude. She's a lot more calm and graceful, but deep down she's a massive troll aswell, which is awesome.

I'm probably one of the few people (if not the only person) who didn't vote for Beatrice. :<

Virgilia: The only witch character I like. She's bumbling and pretty mellow. I like her. :3

Belphegor: The only stake that doesn't have her sin inprinted in her personallity. She's a hard worker~. Oh, and her duel in EP. 3. :D

Mammon: Lol didn't think I would be voting for two stakes. I don't really like the stakes. Mammon is sorta like Belphe as her personallity doesn't really reflects her Greed. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember her talking about her sin until EP 4 with Ange. Unlike her other sisters (Belphe aside), they're always boastful/prideful, angry, crying cuz she's jealous, hungry, or in love (I think Asmo got some TIP saying something like this). Yeah, no.

Siesta 45: For me, the Siestas > Stakes. 45 is much more moe than Beato and Bern imo. Kinda reminds me of Mikuru. :heh:

Siesta 410: Oh god 410. Best Siesta ever. She's just so awesome. :D

Siesta 00: Er... She's got an eyepatch. And she got picked on by Goldsmith, like the other siestas. She was like the big sis of the group.
