I hope the ecci will not be silly or stupid or forced.
Looking forward to this!

I have also started reading it and it is quite enjoyable, except the characters are so generic and cookie cut-out that I don't even remember their names.

yep, but it's monthly manga, so it won't be enough for something bigger than 12-13 eps.
It's not necessary be original ending, but knowing Madhouse - most likely
I hope if this series must have original ending, it doesn't kill the possibility of sequel with return to manga plot.
Maybe something like anime original arc ?

WHAT !? GRANRODEO (who perform IGPX, Kurokami and laterly Needless) do not perform because it is a zombie anime genre with a touch of ecchi (and non-moe graphic style). I'm sick they performs a second Madhouse anime plus ending with very childish genre performed by heroines voices. It's OLDCODEX or ACID(Tokyo Majin)-like J-rock band to perform both opening and ending songs.

The fan of early Resident Evil games inside me is definitely happy about what he sees here, but i am having my doubts how well the fanservice is going to mix with the atmosphere here. One thing i have never been a fan of is excessive bouncing, and it doesn't seem like there is going to be any shortage of it. Panty shots during dramatic moments is a second peeve of mine, and looks like we have good chances for those as well. While i don't have anything against fanservice, i do believe there are situations where it just doesn't mix in. Scenes that are otherwise meant to be serious being a prime example. While it certainly is possible to mix fanservice and serious anime together, i find it meh to have both on the screen at the same time - one at a time please, they ruin each others mood when combined :heh:
That aside, looking towards to some nostalgic zombie smashing :)

On fanservice, anyone who have actually read the manga don't find it as distracting as others makes it to be once you are caught in the story. Speaking from personal experience and words from rl friends. So yeah, I am deeply sorry that HoTD is not kosher when it comes to fanservice.

Let us establish one thing before this sidetracks the thread too much (And it is hardly a new issue ...) - in the grand scheme of things, we welcome diversity of opinion. We are a discussion forum first and foremost, and do not limit the discussion to posts who have nothing but positive things to say about a title. While i know it can be annoying to see someone expressing negative opinion over something you personally enjoy, such is the name of the game - all we have are our subjective opinions on any topic at hand, and this is a place to share them, so long as they are relevant for the topic. Which is to say, AS is a discussion forum, and discussion is there to stay.
Respectable argument is always good for discussion.. however, annoying relentlessly touching on the same subject which is clearly part and parcel of the series are simply trolling.
I simply dont get it when peoples who a clearly have a choice to drop a series which clearly annoys them yet still watching them.. just so you could trashed it in an internet forum, all while pissing other peoples who somehow able to appreciate the series on its merit.. be it story, or fanservice or what not.
I was looking forward to this, until I watched the trailer and the ecci from it turned me off. I dont know if I am going to watch it anymore. It feels like its going to be frustrating to watch. It's the first zombie/infected anime I've heard off so I was hoping for something good.

Let's hope the anime at least tries to give you a feeling that the characters are killable. Drama is the key-word in this kind of apocalyptic situation.
Wouldn't mind to see a few get killed off along the way either.
You know, like 'I will drive this truck with the alarms & lights on to attract the attention of the zombies while crashing into a shelter after which I will blow myself up , so they can carry on :'-) *dramatic musikz*''

You just couldn't see it it working any other way:D
But yea bring on the apocalypse!
I read the posts, at least from the recent page at this thread.
What I can say is the following:
Many of us are hyped about this title because for those who have read the manga (like myself, included) and the looks of the trailer, this happens to seemingly be a serious show about true zombies; an all-out apocalypse.
The problem that some of you have to resent about HOTD is the use of fanservice.
I'll be polite as possible and refrain absolutely from rudeness or an inappropiate tone while expressing my views.
1. First of all, HOTD is an upcoming anime adapted from the manga of the same name. This title wasn't conceived by any American or European person; this is not a Hollywood production; and though the resemblance with the title bears a little similarity to a coincidental level with the titles of Romeros' films, I Absolutely doubt that George Romero had any involvement whatsoever with HOTD.
What I got to say is that HOTD being both anime and manga as well is bound to the conventions that rule the genres for both anime and manga productions.
The usage of fanservice could not be averted for the following reasons:
a) The publisher magazine and/or the anime studio viewed fanservice as a mean to lure as many viewers as possible into this series, and those viewers mainly are composed of otaku men above 20 years-old.
b) Maybe the original authors of the manga wanted to add fanservice to the manga. Hence, the fanservice in the anime, because the anime is adapted from and follows the manga.
2. In Western world cinematography, is their any rule or convention that forbids the use or display of sexual situations in zombie films? Whatever rules do Western films are bound to, Japanese anime and manga are Not bound by them but by their own conventions.
Hence, I find it both logical and natural the use or need to include fanservice in this show, because from my POV and common sense this production is an anime.
Of course, you're free to disagree with me in all the points that I've laid in this post for the simple fact that darker and serious stories such as the caliber of HOTD have to remain with serious contents regardless of their genre, country of origin, and cultural conventions.
^ I am not sure why you brought up the west VS east implications there, i don't think anyone is confused about where the show comes from :heh: (And western shows have plenty of fanservice as well, for all that it matters to the subject at hand). It is not really all that relevant either (The reason why fanservice is included in the way it is - obviously plenty of people like it so it boosts sales) when discussing how one perceives it - understanding something isn't directly related to how one feels about a particular subject.
Personally, i have nothing against fanservice, and have watched more shows of the genre than one can shake a stick at. I can appreciate risque content featuring female anatomy just as much as i can appreciate a courageous display of manliness when someone throws their life on the line in the name of what he believes in and wants to protect. What i am saying is, i don't believe the two work very well together on screen at the same time. (Not to be confused with having both elements in the same show). At least they don't for me, much as i find comedy chibi moments inserted in the middle of an otherwise serious scene to be jarring as well. I find both clashing against each other in terms of mood, and dragging the overall impact down.
Of course, it is premature of me to judge anything here as the anime has yet to air after all, but going by the trailer i do believe the danger of encountering a dramatic speech from one of the female leads about their dark times and how they must steel themselves for what is to come, all the while camera is zooming in to her backside from a downwards angle, to be fairly real :heh: Contrary to what some people seem to assume, at least for me personally, this won't be something that makes or breaks the show. Far from it. But such things do detract from the experience for me personally (As they say, there is a time and place for everything), so that is my opinion (and hope) on the matter - fanservice is fine, but i would hope it stays out of the moments when the mood is aiming to be at its serious.
I read the manga - it's crap.

edit:
I would expect of others to stay on topic and not to make posts with the only intention of making a rant. Don't feel like leaving a name to someone that openly admits to get angry about a one line post either.
That's a neg rep I got for this post. I seems that you're preferring to stay in the shadows and hurl insults at me for saying the truth loud. Sir, that's a very sad attitude and the only reason why you actually had the guts to do it was because you could cowardly do it anonymously.
I read the manga - it's crap.
Without regards to MrTerrorist's trollbait post please include why you're thinking it's crap. Everyone can stomp into whatever thread, call the show/manga crap and then disappear again. I mean you're free to think whatever you want about the manga but you (and also everyone else with the same line of thinking) surely can spend a few seconds to think before clicking the send button if you want your post to be useless spam or to actually include some content. Obviously you chose the former option this time.
Major need to chill out. Read Skyfall's post again and just accept those type of posts. If you hate it so much, just IGNORE it. The only one really trolling is you when they are talking about the series while you are just dealing out threats on their opinions.
That's the absolute favourite reply of people who simply don't understand that their post might will annoy the majority of people in the thread and who clearly post in the thread while exactly knowing it. Considering the source you simply have the wrong idea about this show if you prefer a watered down version. Also you're known for ranting about basically everything and seem to take some pride in it (:uhoh:) but newsflash, comments like this aren't enjoyable for a lot of us and telling other to ignore it certainly doesn't help but actually is more ignorance on your part. Surely KiNA exaggerated quite a bit in his post but you can't expect others to ignore this type of posts.
The anime will be watertened of violence and ecchi compared to the manga ?
Most likely but the trailer actually manages to include the fanservice pretty well so there is some hope that the rest of the show will keep this level of quality.

The anime looks very promising. My concern would be on how much of the story will be similarly based on the manga before it gets to the point that there might be some anime original material let into it.
It depends on how many seasons or cours the anime will run.
If it's for a single season of 12 / 13 episodes, then chances are that most of the storyline will head toward an anime-original route. Else if it's for two seasons summing in total 24 or 26 episodes, then likely from the first half to before the last quarter of episodes the storyline will be adapted from all the manga volumes released so far, and the anime will aim for an original ending.
These are just personal speculations given that the manga has been on hiatus for quite a few times.

Assuming that's 11:30am in Japan, it's 9:30pm Central Time on the 4th (7:30 Pacific, 10:30 Eastern) for those in the US/Canada, since Japan (or at least Tokyo) is 14hrs ahead of CDT.
Ok, this is in uncensored version like other AT-X shows such as Ikkitousen and Queen's Blade-like ?
From what I remember of the manga (stopped reading it after the hiatus and haven't read it since), it's nowhere near the omnipresent nipples/sex play kind of fanservice anime like the two series you mentioned, as it is a panty shot/Gainaxing/unrealistic female body kind (apparently one of the requirements for surviving in a zombie apocalypse is breasts that are unexpectedly large for a Japanese schoolgirl). There is the obligatory bath scene/chapter, with all the nudity you'd expect, but that's pretty much it, and it really does seem "obligatory" in an "okay, you've seen their tits now, so let's get back to the zombie-killing" way. It's just the art style that looks like a well-drawn hentai, not the subject matter. Of course that may change.
What there is is a crapload of gore. Eastern audiences seem to be more averse to that kind of thing than the West is (and vice versa), so you may have some of that (and the panty shots) edited out of the terrestrial showings, with some steam on the bath episode.
Well let's just be honest, this title does not pull punches. There will be graphic violence, gore, adult themes, sexual content and nudity. There is absolutely zero graphic sexual content (the closest in the manga are two very short scenes and both are more creepy than erotic which I will not mention because they're relatively important to the story and spoilerish), but there are plenty of moments for the eye to be amazed at how scantily clad and large breasted the women can be. Apparently bras don't exist in Zombieland.
Personally I expect some very odd and random censorship (as in "you censored this but not this? Heh.")
On the other hand, zombies. Stay for the zombies, enjoy the rest or damn it as you please. The boobs stop being obvious flotation devices after a while anyway, but the zombie violence is forever. And Twinkies.
Personally I expect some very odd and random censorship

Shaun of the Dead was about a failure of a man who gets a tougher ballsack and have to deal with his family and friend problems during a zombie apocalypse, with a lot of british humor. Highschool of the Dead is about a group of highschoolers trying to stick together and make it through. I fail to see how they would be remotely similar with Kouta out of HoTD.

HotD without Kouta would just be your average boring, wangsty zombie flick with more fanservice and less firepower. It wouldn't be worth the time spent reading it. I can't agree with your argument because, quite frankly, Kouta is the Shaun character...

Can't wait to see how they are going to play this out and how true its going to be to the manga. Releases on the 5th July and will be staying up until it has been subbed on that day
I thought there is an episode today, like with Black Lagoon, no?

I don't think so or I don't know of it al I know is that a site I go on to check release dates has it set for the 5th July. But then maybe they made a pre release i'm not aware of.

No, what I mean is that the 1st episode should be released on 27.06 (http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=7382 - take a look), but there is no info on when and how it's gonna be released

well I'm not sure they enititally designed the page your referring to, to show the TV station airing it. I think this is mostly because were both using different sites as reference and the dates don't match. However I think I can say that this will be a TV release. I think the best thing I and anyone else can do is grit our teeth and wait.

If they keep it closely related to the manga version then it'll rock as a action/horror anime but some comedy would be good too.

The anime would be more faithful to the manga (like Seikon no Qwaser) so that the latest episodes receive an original ending, or even different than the manga is still ongoing, even the number of episodes is hidden.

Not surprised at the ecchiness, considering the manga's artist is a famous hentai artist.
Does the mangaka, Daisuke Satou, use another name as an ero-mangaka?
Does the mangaka, Daisuke Satou, use another name as an ero-mangaka?
Actually, Daisuke Satou is just the author of the manga. It's the artist, Satou Shouji, the one that does hentai manga.
Oh! You're right, I just figured it out through BakaUpdates Manga Section... :D
He have another name too, Inazuma.
It should have probably aired by now, yes? The anticipation is killing me.
The show first airs at 11:30 AM Japan time, which is 10:30 PM ET. Accounting for the hourish or so it takes to encode, the first raws (streaming) should be appearing at 11:30 PM ET. So, no, the show doesn't air for another half hourish.
I'll be the first to say that I was a bit disappointed with both the OP and the ED. They didn't just didn't fit what I was expecting in a zombie anime and didn't live up to my expectations. As for the episode itself, I must say it has god-tier animation quality, probably the best animation I've seen from any anime that came out this year so far. I was surprised at the amount of blood and panties shots, because I thought they'd be airing the censored version and then we'd get an uncensored version a week later or so. First episode pretty much almost covered the first chapter of the manga, and it was pretty faithful along with a top-tier looking OST.
It's interesting to see how people show their true colors when they are between life and death.
And poor Mamoru Miyano, his character got killed off so early in the series. :heh:

haven't seen the ep myself but if they did censor this in any way it would be doing it an injustice and really taking away what the show really is.
Censoring for a epic ecchi zombie fest? No just no.
You can tone down fanservice for a series but since this is about zombies you expect gore and blood so it would be pointless to censor the panty shots but keep the blood.
If they did by some chance decided to censor the blood I would honestly say it would be the single most biggest fail ever! like ever!

Fuu... Well, that was exciting. Or rather, thrilling...?
Anyways, it's that usual feeling you get when you watch horror movies.
It was.. good, I guess. Definitely, a lot more "thrilling" than all of the other anime that have aired, simply by being the most gruesome and all.
Not a single boring moment. Start with action, end with action
OP was... kind of disappointing, but still kind of cool.
ED was typical and nice, showing photographs of the characters while they were still enjoying life.
Animation and character designs are pretty good. No problems at all here either.
Similar to the manga, it is just one of those shows you empty your head and watch people fight zombies in the usual manner seen in every zombie horror movie.
It's fun, it's exciting, and to top it off, you get to laugh at the random out of place pantyshots and breast shots and other basic horror movie events (like how important characters such as Rei's boyfriend seem to take longer to be infected and zombify, and like how the characters can stay so calm and kill people).
The biggest point of this anime is seeing how the anime attempts to end the series. Because, you know...
Speaking of Rei... Err... Wow, pretty funny girl, huh? :heh:
By the way, while her borfriend was dying, his voice was so Kira. :heh: Kind of made the last scene with the guy hugging Rei "Keikaku DOORI!"
PS: all of the needless pantyshots in serious moments reminded me of 11eyes

The OP song is alright but the ED song is fantastic. It's got a similar feel to 'Garasu no Kutsu' from Saya no Uta and sits well with the overall mood. Visually it's top notch as expected from MADHOUSE. The shameless fanboy in me is jumping with joy seeing D.A.W's style animated perfectly. I had as much fun watching it as much as I read the manga.

going to be following this until they drift off from the manga. it'll happen due to the manga being nowhere near finished. let's see what crazy conclusion madhouse can come up with when the time comes.
Just finished watching the first episode. Just fucking awesome, freaking awesome. Loved simply in every department. Plot, pacing, voice acting, characters, music, animation, art everything was simply top notch imo. Can't wait for the next episode.
Oh i like this quite a bit. Madhouse certainly deliver with high production, and it's classic Tetsurou Araki (especially that OP). Plus you really can't go wrong with looking girls, decent fanservice and a good amount of gore. I'm sold. & yeah the score so far really fits.

Holy shit I am like O_O Especially at Hisashi becoming a zombie at the end and Takahashi killing him. Rei dumping him and getting this is a kind of what goes around comes around......like steal my love and you die kind of thing.
I don't know where to start....blood gushing....like in the movies of this type. Ecchi is not like in the movies at all so no need for that although the ecchi around the bites and blood gushing is ok but generally I would think it ruins it. I mean sex + zombies does = good but more unique since it's Japanese anime. Wait till I do some of the GIFs.
Wow so many people dead in the first episode......Hayashi sensei, Tejima, Misuzu, Toshimi.....WTF literally......I know all about zombie movies but still a WTF expression. Generally really good and can't wait to see Hirano in action with nail gun! :heh: and of course when he gets better weapon also the Kendo girl too and this=>

With Madhouse handling it, it should turn out pretty good. Thou if the series does not get a lot of sponsorship, expect the later episodes to suffer, on the animation side. They've still a small production company, only so much they can do before going in the red.

Zombies, titties, and panties. That pretty much sums up the first episode.
That was an impressive start. High production values, chara design very faithful to the manga, and great voice cast. The music was damn good as well, I just love the ending song. Having read the manga, I knew what to expect, but the amount of panty shots was still surprising. It's been a while since I saw that much in a single episode... actually, it may even be the first time.
PS: I had forgotten how unlikable Takashi and Rei were at the start...

Holy shit.
Gratuitous over the top violence!
Limbs, blood and guts spewing from every mouth and orifice!
Bouncing titties every 10 seconds!
More panty shots than a Victoria's Secret model shoot!
Schoolgirls screaming in horror as they get devoured!
Schoolboys screaming in horror as they get eaten alive!
The undead walking and consuming all life in their path!
Ridiculously hilarious melodramatic drama and death!
The police and the military are powerless!
Only a group of improbably good-looking boys and improbably well-endowed girls stand in the way of survival and the destruction of Japan!
It's a fucking Zombie apocalypse B-Movie/Series! Takashi himself says so: It's fucking crazy and unrealistic!
It's also very likely the best opener of the season yet! (Yes I'm blogging this series) (http://meotwister5.wordpress.com/2010/07/05/high-school-of-the-dead-episode-1/)
People are going to kill me for saying it but I enjoyed the living undead out of the episode and what chapters of the manga I was able to read back in April (I've done only 2 chapters due to time issues), but looks like I'll be picking it up again.

*snicker* That was a good review. I give it 5/5 decerebrated zombies. xD
I think way too much is being made of the pantyshots and breast bouncing. It was very realistic. It's not like breasts are 2 mounds of molded steel riveted into position so that they never move.
Brilliant first episode, loved it!
However, one gripe is that it was censored, not sure what time it goes out or on what channel, but I really do hope a DVD release will be uncut. Case in point, there is a scene of a guy committing suicide by jumping out of a window, in the episode I watched, the scene fades out before he hits the ground. Whereas, in the official series PV (which you can find on youtube), it shows him landing in a bloody heap with a splat.
In a show where every other shot is either fanservicey cleavage/panty shots or a zombie getting their heads bashed in, it seems a bit odd that they needed to censor this particular scene.

I didn't think much of this particular scene to be honest and I don't think there was a need to see the splat to know what's happened. But one good thing so far is that there are no mysterious blackholes/bars/smoke or anything of that sort.
One thing I must comment on is how I just love the "fairness" in this series. Being a cute/hot girl gives no immunity to having your neck chewed off :heh:

At first I liked the OP, then the singing came in. Ehhhh...It was too all over the place.
The panty shots are rediculous. I usually don't mind them at all, but when they are killing zombies or a zombie is closing in on Rei, I want to see the zombie, not her panties. More gore. Less panties.
The ED is good, I think. I like rock-influenced anime music. You don't see alot of that these days.

What is arguably the most shocking scene in this entire episode was how Madhouse conveniently decided to show us a certain unnamed schoolgirl zombie food's exposed pink pantied lower half while her upper half was being slowly devoured.
If I were the zombie in question I'd prefer the lower half first but maybe that's just me.:eyespin:
And kindly leave comments on my upstart blog as I search for other blogs who will apparently try to keep this show.

I personally thought the scene where the students were beating each other up and stomping on each other was more shocking than any of the students being eaten. The scene with the two "best friends" was pretty shocking too.
How's the reception to this show in Japan?
Yeah, I found such scenes more disturbing, which left me puzzled as to the censorship of the suicide, which can be seen in full in the promo PV for the series. Must have been to do with the TV channel broadcast, it's just odd they would cut that, but not some of the more gorier scenes. Ohwell, it's a great show that i'll be following and hopefully we'll get it in all it's uncut, gorey glory on DVD/Blu-ray.
All I can say is when this series is over I can die happy. That's how f-ing awesome it was when I downloaded the first episode. Did notice they did censor it a bit and the stream quality wasn't true 720P but I'm getting a true HD uncensored rip right now.
As a big fan of the series, owning all the books and figures etc, it was worth the 3 year wait.
Scared me so much that I was glad I had my H&K USP 9mm next me after I finished watching it and went to bed. Well it's usually their anyway but I had 1 more reason to be glad I had it ready. Zombies!!!!!!!!!

Production values were outstanding. Pacing, action, image all first-rate. But there was no time given for the characters to think, and the action happened without enough inner background, it seemed to me. The expression of emotion was fine, but I felt as if any feeling of something actually going on inside the characters' heads was sacrificed to action.
Maybe that will change after we get this hook episode out of the way, and maybe it's just how this genre works. Haven't seen many (or any) zombie shows of any kind, myself.
One thing I realized while watching the anime is that even in the manga, everybody is still suffering from shock to a small degree.Even in the manga, nobody has really thought things through and fully understood that they're previous lives are gone. There hasn't been any mental breakdowns which from this episode made me realize that they should have. Anyway the episode was a much slower pace than I thought. I didn't like the CG zombies and it did seem that they might have over-emphasized the pantie thing. I did laugh pretty hard at the girl kicking her best friend down the stairs. They also did a great job depicting Takashi's mental state at the end of the episode through his eyes.

That's actually a really good point. They were put in a totally ridiculous and unbelievable situation where they simply have time to process just WTF was happening which made most of their decisions more of gut reactions and instinctual than anything else. The fact that they left in the cruel reality of the girl who left her friend to die while she would get her own karmic reward almost exactly the same as from the manga was surprising given the weight and brutality of it all.:uhoh:
Well, just like the manga, it's pretty chaotic and full of violence but hey, what do you expect when you involve zombies in it no? The 1st ep was okay since they showed how hell breaks loose and how people panic from left to right. Ah, I'll be expecting for some more

Viewers of newly airing “School Apocalypse: Highschool of the Dead” are acclaiming it as “the greatest masterpiece of the season” and “a godly anime” for its unsubtle combination of schoolgirl pantsu and bloody zombie carnage.

It's rare that I find myself disagreeing with you, but I don't think that this is entirely true. We did get some Takashi/Rei backstory in the beginning, and we also got some first glimpses of Saya (the pink-haired ojousama genius). Thing is that at the moment, Takashi is essentially numb with shock, and Rei had a _really_ bad time too, if you think about it ^_^
I liked how they handled Hisashi's death, and it laid some proper groundwork for later developments (I'll just say that the Rei-Takashi relationship _will_ go through developments, and this isn't the last time Hisashi will be an issue for them).
Maybe that will change after we get this hook episode out of the way, and maybe it's just how this genre works. Haven't seen many (or any) zombie shows of any kind, myself.
Personally, the character development of the characters (the cast isn't assembled yet) is the primary selling point to me. Expect to see the zombie action only as hardships and trials. It's about the characters ;)
I just watched it.
Well as a manga reader, I like it. Pantsu shots were meh (I was expecting it really) I actually hoped there would be less pantsu shots. My biggest quarm is they didnt show how Rei and Takashi's presently troubled friendship all the well. They are like childhood friends who are currently having a lot of petty bickering. Even more so that she had a boyfriend who is one of Takashis mates. Maybe they didnt have the time to reinforce those issues but I not going to make much fus over it anyway. I like the way they handled the killing of Hisashi by Takashi. It showed at the end its a burden he will have to carry. Also liked Rei's words at the end, its what I hoped she would be like (like the manga). Start blaming him for hating her boyfriend then when he saids he will leave and fight the zombies alone. She gets all sentimenal of being left alone.
I thought I may of been dissppointed in this, but I liked it. Will be waiting for the next episode. Hope they keep the ecci to a low level O_O
oh and no show for the guy having a smoke ? who gets wtfbbq zombie pawned ?
Probably was a little quicker than the manga too.

Not discounting the show's 2ch popularity (I wouldn't know), but Sankaku Complex posts an article like that for any show featuring ample moe or service. The thing is that with any show, there's always some people declaring it the greatest masterpiece.
Anyway, Ep. 1 boasts outstanding production quality. Wonderful choreography, animation, and art.
Script and premise are absolute rubbish though (trite and horrid melodrama that we've seen in a million exploitation films. You already know what the characters are going to say), which plants this firmly in the brainless guilty pleasure category. It's well made, visceral pulp that engages the senses, but it's no masterpiece yet.
OMG! just saw it subbed, finally.. :heh: and omg! this rox! best of the season, indeed.:heh:
blood all over the place, pantsu everywhere, boobs jiggling all-the-time, plus I loved the two friends going like: "let's be friends forever! let's run and escape together!" and 2 seconds after, "Let go of me, b*tch, dammit, LET GO!" lol one of the best scenes... :heh: that's like 'true friends' should be, right? hahaha
Anyway, a truly masterpiece of mindless-gore-madness-and-pantsu! Definetly keep watchin'! :D

Just watched the first episode; minor changes but the voices, acting and animation more than made up for it. This is going to be the best show of the year I just know it. So gritty; I loved it. Please don't cancel this manga its one of the best. I thought that they were allttle heavy on the Rei/Tanishi thing. In general, the reception is really positive.
Other comments involve
-how it is so B-Movie
-How the heroine is so bad and all of the strange crap Otaku howl out when they don't get perfect girls (Moonphase kind of also said "Then those guys can go to Busujima-senpai who is stuffed with 2-D perfection")
-Lots of pantsu shots

damn that was lol-tastic. Fanservice was very subtle (lawl not), but I'm fine with it, doesn't really bother me as it does some other people for some reason.
Very very gory, and I must say i liked the animation and choreography, and the music wasn't too shabbay either, sounds kinda familliar.
Anyway, I liked the first episode, so hopefully it'll continue to amaze me and live up to my expectations.
For those who have read the manga, no spoilers, but will there be some "good" character interactions/developments? Because that's what I'm really looking for in this series, the gore + (fanservice) is just the icing, so if they can pull off some good chara developments i'll be super happy :]

It's a thing about physics. Things do bounce and displace with movement. Moreso if the objects are heavy.

It's called 'In the House - In a Heartbeat' which is a track of the OST from the movie 28 Days Later.
Coo. That was something else. Very typical zombie apocalypse with added bouncing boobs and panty shots.
Do NOT take the guy who's been bitten into your 'safe place'! That was so obvious. They did seem to be following the 'zombie rules', though. Definitely one I'll be watching,
I'm off to the Winchester.
I like Takashi a lot, he is the tragic hero type. I don't like rei a lot, she really treats him badly. it is a sad thing Rei sought affection and confort on another man instead of trying to communicate with Takashi. At least he finally understood why she dumped him.

And I must say, I really like the way they did Takashi's and that girl's eyes at the very end (after the ED) when she said that rather hurtful and inconsiderate line. Both of them had that same "eye". Very nice effect to get across what's going on in their heads atm.

Well, you don't really even know all of the events that took place, so you can't really say he deserved anything. I mean, sure, he is Kira, but Rei definitely has fault in it, assuming you find fault in this situation where she didn't decide to go out with Takashi.

Well in the anime it doesn't look like some are wearing bras, at least that pink haired girl didn't look like she was wearing any, as well as all those jiggling breasts.
To answer your question about girls wearing bras, I know some friends who don't wear bras because they say their kind of a hassle/annoying, but typically the more "well-equipped" friends of mine do wear bras because they don't LIKE having them jiggle around all the time.
Lets get back on track shall weeeee ;X.

I have not read the manga, But by watching the first episode, It is obvious that Takashi was not an affectionate boyfriend. It seems that hisashi was better at showing affection and that is what Rei needed.
The line in bold in the above quote is a little confusing to me. I am not sure if you mean she decided to stop going out with him or that she never was going out with Takashi, because it is obvious that they were dating and she broke up with him. She mentions about Takashi not understanding her feelings and at the end of the episode, we know exactly what she meant.

That would be the good part about this anime. It conveys lots of emotion in less than 30 minutes to unravel the psychological aspects of the human mind. Especially taking the audience into consideration, I think the producers of the anime really did a good job of bringing emotion and horror as their focal point within the anime.

There is no announced number yet, but I think it will be 1-cour, since I don't really seeing the anime holding up 2-cour. Also, a certain character that appears later in the manga isn't in the OP, so assuming she doesn't appear in the anime, then the anime won't get to her part... I think.
The manga... Well, not really any end in sight. Right now, it's just looping and going through the same type of development over and over again.

Like OceanBlue said, I'm under the impression that Takashi and Rei never dated, which is why I didn't understand the "Freaking girlfriend stealing bastard" description of Hisashi, because Takashi and Rei were never boyfriend-girlfriend before.

I thought it did about the same job like most B-Movie horror zombie films...
Thats the one thing I didn't like about the frist episode in the manga one of the two girls gets caught and was been mauled while unlike the anime in the manga her friend goes back to try to help her and they both die holding hands to me thats more emotional than what happened in the anime.Goes back my ass! The scene you speak of is around ch1 page 11. She's not helping her, she's kicking her in the face! The only difference in the scene is that they were outside the school, not inside. But them being inside really makes much more sense IMO. And I think they are wearing different clothes.
The entire series is practically 100% conversion from manga to anime if I ever saw one. The deviation from manga is close to zero. The diviation I've noticed,
obviously, more etchii-ness (but hey manga is like 1 chapter, this is 20min)
suicide teacher (don't remember happening)
Takagi preaching at the start (never happened)
All in all just makes the series better.

Like OceanBlue said, I'm under the impression that Takashi and Rei never dated, which is why I didn't understand the "Freaking girlfriend stealing bastard" description of Hisashi, because Takashi and Rei were never boyfriend-girlfriend before.
I was just going by what was said in this episode, that's all. :p
Eh...?
I thought it did about the same job like most B-Movie horror zombie films...
Yeah that's exactly what i thought. I guess most of the people posting here don't watch them like we do. :heh:
As far as I know, Rei and Takashi were never dating, but they did have feelings for each other. Takashi never made a move on her, and she started dating his friend, either because she got sick of waiting, or just wanted to make him jealous, though I really think she cared for Hisashi. I think he tried to confess to her after she started dating Hisashi, but then she rejected him because it was already too late.

Thats the one thing I didn't like about the frist episode in the manga one of the two girls gets caught and was been mauled while unlike the anime in the manga her friend goes back to try to help her and they both die holding hands to me thats more emotional than what happened in the anime. This is an example of giving too little time. One second, they were BFF, the next second one was saying: "Let go of me!" No room there for her mind to actually change, therefore it seemed shallow and unreal. Give a couple of seconds and a changing expression on her face, and it could have worked. Or follow the manga.
Are you sure? I was always under the impression that Takashi asked Rei out after Rei's feelings for him faded, which was why she said that he didn't return the feelings she had. As far as I'm aware, they never dated. This is how I interpreted it. At first they were childhood friends, then she started carrying a torch for him, but he never noticed or responded, so she drifted away to his best friend. Then he decided he liked her, but it was too late, her heart had already shifted.
Her sudden return to him (sort of) at the end, made some sense, but it never felt natural to me, perhaps because Inoue Marina didn't do the right things with her voice, or perhaps because the timing of the animation wasn't right. Not sure.
The facts of the episode -- sudden infiltration and conversion, killing your best friend to get his girl, the BFFs, smashing heads, etc. -- were all thrilling entertainment, however.

this is obviously the best show of the season and saeko is obviously the best char in the show

well, I believe Rei said something about breaking up in the anime, i read the first two chapter of the manga and i believe the anime is going in a different angle about the relationship, because takashi doesn't say anything about "hugging the girl i like for the first time" anywhere in the manga.
this is obviously the best show of the season
I don't see how it's obvious, i mean it's just your classic zombie film set-up with addition fanservice.

There's no transition there, just you in denial of the truth behind the obvious lies.
Its often easier (or convenient) in society to just play the part that you are given.
A: Hi! the ship is sinking, are you my friend.
B: YES!! now fucking run and shud up!

I'm not really fond of whole zombie shows but decided to look through the first episode... well graphics and animation look great. The part where they were running through zombies looked like from some game...
Without real spoiling, I have question towards manga readers. What is the main idea behind series? Are they simply going to be stuck in school and fighting zombies or is there more to it?

If you want to know more, just look up the manga.

Yeah, she even stayed back a year for him.:heh:

A bunch of high school kids trying to survive a zombie-infested world.
I have watched the first episode, and there is something bothering me.
Did someone recognise the 28 days later theme? (a bit remixed althought)
