I am now having problems making avatars.

Used to I would run a anime full screen and pause it where I wanted and hit print scree, paste in paint and save as a .jpg. Now whenever I try that it reverts to a blank picture with no image. Does this have anyhting to do with a Windows XP service pack update for Paint?

So now I tried to use PS Player and use the screen capture function. But when I do I have really bad yellow streaking and the pic is discolored.

Im getting frustrated. Any ideas?

You certainly mean BS Player.

1. make sure the software conversion for capture settings are not checked in general preferences.

2. try disabling overlay or using VMR9 mode in bsplayer's video preferences.

when you saved to jpg using paint...did you have MS Word installed? cause i remember reading somewhere that Word installs some filters or something of the sort that lets Paint do that...

and honestly i htink it maybe be true...i've been through 3 old comps before...and only the 1 with word installed let me save bmps to jpgs

Try disabling hardware acceleration in Windows media player. Pause and print screen should work. You'll get the media player "Frame" but that can be cropped out.
