I was wondering why photoshop makes images look brighter than they really are. I was thinking this has something to do with RGB/CMYK mode.

Anyway, is there a way to make it stop doing that?

Photoshop uses its own gamma correction. "Adobe Gamma" in the control panel.

Yeah I set the RGB working space to the profile for my monitor.

Edit > Color Settings

Just turn the colors off that's what I usually do
