Director: Hiroyuki Imaishi (Gurren Lagann, Dead Leaves)
Assistant Director: Masahiko Otsuka (FLCL, Gurren Lagann, Pom Poko.)
Concept Artist: Yoh Yoshinari (Gurren Lagann)
Coordinator: Shigeto Koyama (Eureka Seven, Gunbuster 2, Gurren Lagann)
Synopsis:
The story centers around a teen-celebrity-like blond-haired girl named Panty and a black-haired Goth Loli girl named Stocking. The two are angels sent from the heavens to battle the "Ghosts" on Earth.
Also, staff hiring notes emphasized the fact that the story has elements of 1900-1930 England.

Gainax: What the hell are you thinking?
All sorts of awesomeness.
The new, the weird, the quirky, that is my domain, plus, it's Gainax. I'm in.
Best anime title ever. The heroines better wear it.

Given the team behind this, I expect the series to shock and surprise with how awesome it is.
Killer production team. Don't disappoint Gainax.
Sounds like pretty typical Gainax to me.

I hate the concept, alot.
It might turn out entertaining still knowing Gainax and the people on the team, as long as it's a short OVA like FLCL.

I hate the concept, alot.
How can you hate it when it's like two sentences? It's the most basic of basic premises.
Give it some time and wait for more information on the show to come out before forming such a negative opinion already.

Their loli named Panty and Stocking, that's reason enough.
Actually, it said one of them is Goth Loli (which is a clothing style, not a character type), and until we get some sort of image, we have no clue what the hell either of them look like. I can't challenge the names, but in the world of anime, such naming practices are hardly uncommon.

Their loli named Panty and Stocking, that's reason enough.
Because that automatically means that they're going to be awful characters, right?
This is the first show Gainax has actually hyped since TTGL, and the director is Imaishi. I don't see it being bad, at least.

Most of the time with that archetype especially, they are.

Why are you guys calling them "loli"? We haven't even seen the characters yet!

Horrible title, generic concept, but it's Gainax, and they've yet to fail me. I'm in.
I personally am very wary because it's Gainax. Heck, even when everything is going well mid-season for a show, I'm still wary because it's Gainax. Dunno, their particular failure at one anime adaptation has left me once burned, twice shy of the studio. :heh:
Not that's necessarily a bad thing mind you. After all, they can only go up if my expectation of them always starts low lol.
As for the anime itself... hmm, if they do a parody/homage to what makes Magical Girl anime great like they did with Gurren Lagann to its Mecha genre, then I can see this taking off rather spectacularly. Just avoid monster of the week (ugh, hated that part of TTGL, to the point where I think the movies are better BECAUSE they didn't have them), and they should be good to go.

Any example? Because I can't think of one base on that one sentence alone.
Typical Gainax title :D
So we have girls named "panty" and "stocking", and probably a third one named "garter belt" :heh:
Now they just need to pick up a fourth girl named "bra", and they're complete... but who knows, perhaps the girls don't wear bras there ;)

However, in general, moe greatly outweighs the amount of manly shows out there. Also, Heroman = manly? Are we watching the same show?

Oh yeah , as it's Gainax , i'm looking forward to it :)
Most of the time with that archetype especially, they are.You obviously have no idea but you're offending both Lolita and Loli fans with what you're saying.
Maybe more to Lolita fans, because we really don't want this alternative fashion style to be associated with Lolis, on another note, Lolitas also hate being called or treated as cosplay. Wearing a true Lolita dress to a cosplay event is supposed to be disrespectful, so much that Lolita dresses wore to cosplays are called Cosplay Lolita to be differentiated from true Elegant Lolita style.
On the show itself, I'll watch anything Gainax can produce, until they actually produce something that fails.
You can tell the original idea is Yoh Yoshinari's, his reverse-weeaboo-ness comes across at full force:

Real shame for a show with underwear-named girls.
Character design is only ink-deep. I though that I'd pass on Heartcatch Precure! based on its designs, but the show itself turned out to be pretty good for its genre. Now granted, I have no idea what genre this show is, but the aesthetics can easily be supplanted by the writing.

Couldn't disagree with you more; not only is the character design is an integral part of any TV show, Heartcatch's character design is also fucking awesome.
Well, I did warm up to them eventually, though character design is something I've honestly never paid that much attention to, though I can appreciate the value of it to some degree. Every person places different weight on different areas of a show.

Gun-Panties are the greatest invention since Tazer-Bras.
So it's a fanservice show? *sigh*
Lowers level of expectation.
So it's a fanservice show?
Impossible to say at this point. I mean sure there are hints that would make one believe it will be a fanservice show, though i'd rather wait and see the material for myself before i jump to believing that.
Either way, i don't see what's wrong with a bit of fanservice. Not like it 100% ruins a show.
Chances of this being a 'fanservice show' = 0. Going to lengths such as creating an original anime, with such a unique art style is something that wouldn't be devoted to just an ecchi series. If they wanted sex appeal they would not have used designs like these.
But that's not to say it will have no fanservice. I'm expecting a crazy/comedy/parody/action series. I mean, come on, Imaishi is directing..
Japanese text in the scan says that it will be primarily action-driven and that it will be so violent people will be wondering how Gainax got away with showing it on TV. :heh:

can someone actually confirm this? everyone keep posting this quote, but i have yet to see an actual translation.Yes it says that in the 6th paragraph, just a rough translation:
"Even though Panty and Stocking are a pair of sister angels, they have extremely bad and dirty habits. Basically a parade of sex, violence and dirty humour. Can such things be shown on tv? With such content, should their actions be broadcast in Japan?"
Also it seems like Garter Belt is their boss, a priest with afro.

Thank you for the translation, so they going for something "mature" this time rather then all the kid's stuff they have done in the past, but with this art style?

Nice. Sounding more like what people have been saying, that it's a mix of PowePuff Girls + Dead Leaves = this series. Bunch of crazy shit happening on screen (Dead Leaves) and bunch of crazy action (powerpuff girls) with art similar to PowerPuff Girls.
Shame people won't give this series a chance just because of the art. Same people who didn't give series like Yojou-han Shinwa Taikei or Saraiya Goyou a chance just because the art is different from the typical norm you see in anime.
so they going for something "mature" this time
Are those quotation marks being used ironically or no? Because "sex and violence" does not automatically equal "mature". In some cases, just the opposite. I'm not saying I won't watch the show or that it won't be good, but that's not the first association I make with those words.

Pretty much that. I'll watch a show, no matter how bad it is, until the end if the art is bearable. On the other hand, if the art is bad, I usually won't give it a chance, no matter how interesting it is.
Different? Don't matter. Dislike? Important. The art isn't just different to me, it's a type of art I dislike. If it's just different, no problem though...

Can't argue with that. If the art is bad, or I hate it, it could ruin a show, even if I love the story.
To me, I don't mind the art work here, and am actually looking forward to this. It has a good (great) team behind it, and seems fairly cool.
I am still hesitant though. It seems good, but also very strange at the same time.

Sweet lolita? Stocking actually describes herself as gosu musume (goth daughter), which seems to be about rebellious girls. I even found one article that discussed whether they were sick in the head.
Yes, Stocking is a Gothic Lolita, which is different from Sweet Lolita. Actually there's a difference between Goth, Lolita and Gothic Lolita.
Gothic culture originates from Europe, while Lolita fashion was created in Japan. Gothic Lolita is just one of the many styles that Lolita fashion has. Gothic Lolita obviously draws from European fashion, there's also Wa Lolita which draws from Japanese Kimonos and Qi Lolita which draws from Chinese Qipaos.
Sweet Lolita and styles like Princess Lolita and Guro Lolita are more themed styles rather than cultural styles.
I couldn't help but laugh :heh:

Well, everyone expected Gainax to make another weirdest show eventually. And now when its announced, everyone is confused. I wonder if the reactions were the same when FLCL and Gurren Lagann was shown first (specially the second). Cant really judge this show until its there. People were discussing Katanagatari art as well - and look, everyone enjoys it like if anime always were supposed to be drawn like that.
On other note, if the translation of the story and introduction given is correct and not a joke - i feel strong smell of Excel Saga... :p

Based on a Gainax job ad for a visual designer, some have concluded (http://dev.animevice.com/news/more-info-about-the-new-gainax-project/4402/) that the story will take place in 1900-1930’s Great Britain. Doesn't look like it to me.

The Gainax Panel at Fanime 2010 was hosted by Hiroyuki Yamaga (Director of Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi, Mahoromatic, Wings of Honneamise).
Someone asked about the anime set in England. Yamaga said that they were doing Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt first, which is “very dirty”, and that their subsequent work will be a “more refined” show set in early 20th century England.
We've already figured out what that one is. Dantalian no Shoka, check a few threads down.

Sideways for some reason
New Panty & Stocking character revealed: Briefs, the guy with the red hair, voiced by Hiroyuki Yoshino, who was Allelujah in Gundam 00 and Firo in Baccano. He is a cleaning angel that dislikes Panty & Stocking because he is in charge of cleaning their horrible messes of death and destruction.
So he is really ticked off about Soma Peries going off and banging other men?

Alright, they have my attention.
And I have zero problem with visuals and character design. You know, the biggest problem I have with western TV animation is that it's so gratuitously grotesque, they don't even try to make their characters pretty or visually likeable. Won't resort to name calling, but yeah. This looks like it combines the best of two worlds. Like, there is this Zipper creature which would be at home in any Nickelodeon production, and then there are the girls. I'm hyped as hell. And Garterbelt is voiced by Montague (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/people.php?id=664) of Romeo x Juliet, holy hell.
Is it a one cour anime though? Or two cours?

One aspect I really like about this anime is it's supposed satirical platform on ecchi and the over sexualization of recent anime. At least, that's what I get out of it. I am, of course referencing the short comic that was show cased on Sankaku Complex.

On other note, if the translation of the story and introduction given is correct and not a joke - i feel strong smell of Excel Saga... :p
You sir have spiked my interest... And it is Gainax after all so I'll at least give it a shot (even if the characters at first glance look a bit too "western" for my tastes).

Remember this is Imaishi we're talking about. From what I've gathered from interviews and the like, Imaishi (like many other anime directors) don't percieve any problem or trend of 'over-sexualisation' of anime. That's much more a case of Western interpretation. Instead, Imaishi wanted to do something fun, raunchy and crazy. Rather than seeing it as a commentary on the anime industry, it's more of a case of Imaishi trying to be bold and do something new.
That's the impression I get anyway. I'm looking forward to something pushing the boundaries of anime.

If he's got his tongue planted firmly enough in cheek, he can do both. And honestly I think that might be the best way to go. Sarcasm and self-parody are some of the most enjoyable types of humor when done well. When done right, it tells 80-90% of the joke and lets the audience participate by filling in the remainder itself.

Forget about it... Since Japanese is one of the few languages that doesn't have names for its months (they're all just number + kanji for month), it's a simple mistake to make for the unaware. That said, the kanji for month (月) is one of the simplest and most easily recognizable, and unlike many kanji, gets very little usage outside of that one meaning (except, of course, for also meaning "moon", but only in the most vague of contexts will that usually be an issue), so once you pick up on it, the only question is usually whether it's referring to a specific month or a period of time ("October" versus "ten months"). Sometimes it's not very simple.

Oh man. This anime is soooooooooo "popular" that no one has even posted a single impression of the trailer online. :(
Like I said, just from comments this forum alone, I'm anticipating a bit of a backlash against this series, for two primary reasons.
1) The designs -- Even in this forum, even among the people that like the idea, there's a fair amount of trepidation (to put it lightly) about how this looks a Powerpuff Girls hentai. You often see articles in the fandom about how character design has evolved over the years, and while those articles are usually focused on single franchises, it's also a general phenomenon, largely because things of a certain type that don't fit within whatever is the current popular frame of design for that particular thing tend to be not very popular, if not outright shunned. "Different" tends to disturb people.
2) The subject matter -- Ecchi is one thing, but a female character who brazenly proclaims "I like sex!!" and lives by what she says is just about unheard of outside of actual hentai, and often not even there. The closest I've seen was Yamada from B Gata H Kei, but even she's a bumbling, fumbling, (key word) inexperienced prude in many ways. Remember that this is the same fandom that destroyed their expensive merch and sent death threats to a mangaka for daring to suggest that her heroine character used to have a boyfriend... Putting a slut like Panty in a focal position in a "hunt down the [monster type]" shounen-like series is like putting a condom dispenser in the Vatican. Not gonna go over well...
Me, I'm stoked about it, but I'm just a boisterous, opinionated, lecherous American (Texan, even), so that's probably to be expected. I hope I'm wrong, but expect this series to get the silent treatment if it's lucky, and lambasted if there's the slightest chink in its armor. The only thing going for it is the (deserved) respect Gainax gets, but they've also got enough skeletons to drag out of their closet that that won't last too long in a pinch. Look how hated they were four episodes into Gurren Lagann. The fandom is fickle...

To be honest, I don't really think that's the reason for the lack of interest, especially in Japan. Those reasons are very valid in terms of how those already interested in the project might not be completely sold by the concept, or how some people might be completely turned off by it. But there's a much larger reason that hasn't been pointed out:
This seems like a D-tier project in terms of marketing and promotion. It is obvious that the producers involved and the sponsors for the project are trying to spend as little money as possible on pushing the project. It might have the same core staff as Gurren Lagann, but it's not going to be anywhere as popular simply because Aniplex pushed GL really hard, and no one is pushing this one. Considering Kadokawa is involved in the production, it's pretty surprising that even in Newtype there isn't that much in terms of details regarding the show.
It's obviously being sent to die.
As I see it, PanSto is some sort of Kaiba/Kemonozume kind of thing. Maybe not as deliberately "obscure" as those, but still more of an animator pet project rather than the big, "heavily planned" kind of show TTGL was.
duckroll
2010-08-31, 08:22
Sure, I agree. I'm just saying, it's not that people are automatically turned off about it or ignoring it because it looks bad (although there is definitely that element too), but mostly people are ignoring it because most people don't even know it exists.

You don't attach a triple A team to a pet project. Also, Gainax is already preparing a merchandise blitz. My guess is they're reaching out to a broader audience. Yamaga has already stated in interviews that Gainax thinks Moe is a fad.

I see your point, but I still don't believe Gainax would put out a product if there's nothing to gain from it. I mean they're not exactly an animation shop like Madhouse. They put out one series a year at best.

Gainax is making P&S the same reason they made all their other original works; because they want to.
Gainax isn't anti-moe. They aren't that interested in what the trend is. They just make what they want, with occasional mediocre adaptations in between. Why do they need marketing, anyway? If their stuff is good, everyone will know about it soon enough. We just need a trailer to get started.

Actual anime sales say otherwise. Shows that sell the most are still the ones with the most marketing and brand exposure through magazines, fan events, cross-media marketing, etc. Shows with minimal marketing or a lack of mass appeal don't sell even if the quality is very high.
Panty & Stocking was the big star of last month's T-shirts Love Summit (http://gostbrand.com/blog/?p=3464) event. Maybe Gainax is trying to target a different audience this time around?

Well, shows with the "same plot" tend to do very well in Japan. Anything "different" tends to either not do very well or catch on only with certain fans (and/or overseas), unless it is extraordinarily well done (and sometimes not even then). Whether that's due to Japanese culture or executives skimping on advertisement due to their own fear of the unknown (probably both), history has borne it out.
Why else do you think we continually see some variation of "cute girls doing nothing", "plucky boy adventurer and his posse take on the bad guy/collect plot coupons", "overdramatic giant mecha", and "Japanese history as [one of the above]" every season, amid the myriad eroge/VN adaptations and fetish vehicles?

Gainax is a Boutique studio. Mass marketing is for all the shonen manga based anime, which Gainax does not do. The airing of the anime itself is the advertising, as it is aired at a loss, with the only purpose being promoting the merchandise and DVD sales.
Anything that is aired at mid-night slot is fringe stuff. That is a large chunk of all the anime that is listed on this entire site. Anyone who would watch anime at 1am is not going to need advertising; they will know what they are after. They will either like it or hate it. Ads will not change that. And there is no attempt at mass appeal with P&S. As TV Tropes might say, it has "Author Appeal"; it's the way it is because it is what the creators want.
duckroll
2010-09-01, 08:02
Errr, I'm not talking about TV ratings. I'm talking about DVD sales. There are lots of very high quality shows which completely bomb at retail. It doesn't matter if everyone "knows" that it's good, you have to make people want to buy it. If you don't give them a reason to, then the entire project is made at a complete loss.
Madhouse is the most famous studio for putting out critically acclaimed stuff which sell jack shit. Kemonozume, Kaiba, Denno Coil. All very highly regarded shows with excellent staff. Also completely unprofitable by any stretch of the imagination. :(
Interesting discussion on whether or not this anime will be successful!
It's definitely right that the key measure of an anime being profitable are its DVD sales (with some exceptions). Domestic DVD sales are traditionally the biggest earner for TV-anime, particularly for late-night anime, which Panty & Stocking will be. Generally the first question that gets tossed around by Japanese fans when a new anime is announced is 'will it sell?'. Depending on how expensive it is to produce, DVD sales per volume exceeding 4000 is generally considered to be a decently performing anime (with sales like Bakemonogatari's being remarkable). Panty & Stocking is an interesting series because it doesn't really fit nicely into the niche otaku market that anime generally relies on, and yet it's not really destined for a wider audience with an early, promoted timeslot. I think that makes it pretty risky. They'll have to hope on forging a new kind of audience.
As far as I can see, whether it's profitable will probably depend on how well the director, Imaishi, can cut costs and keep it cheap. I'm not expecting any mind blowing sakuga stuff from Panty & Stocking (but then, this is Gainax), and the simplistic art style probably means they'll save time and money for something that moves fairly well.
Gainax has a pretty good track record for making money, and plenty of fans, so I think they'll pull something off with Panty & Stocking. Those are my thoughts on the matter anyway.

I think this topic should be pushed into gear when it is realized the show is actually good. I think most of us accept that critical acclaim doesn't equate to commercial success, but more-so as washi says the time slot and audience amongst the obvious. I'll be willing to defend it's potential sales once I've seen the show and think it's good, but for now, it's all mute. :)

With the sex, ultra-violence, wacky art, crude humour and angels+demons this feels very reminiscent of something Go Nagai would've made in the 70s. Imaishi is the best possible director for that kind of thing so this show has to be a winner.

TRAILER IS HERE!
You have officially won the internets. ^_^
Looking at this in motion it's even more like PPG (a bit more detailed, maybe). And the lowbrow humor looks like it won't be limited to the sexual/violent level we've already seen in the promo art (exploding toilets? heroines covered in [expletive deleted]?). A US license is pretty much guaranteed. [adult swim] is probably pencilling it into their schedule as we speak... And in this case I think that might be a good thing.
True origin of Chuck/Zipper revealed:

But seriously, the more I see of this show the more I know I'm gonna love it. Bring it on, Gainax!
And if he's a self-hating dog/doll/whatever, the similarily will be complete...
Since no one's posted it yet:

Well, I'm glad some of you enjoy the trailer and the look of the series. Personally, I'm still kinda cold on it. I think it looks kinda dumb (I'm not a fan of Dead Leaves either), and the Flash animation style art doesn't really appeal to me.
Anyway... there's some interesting news about the series. It seems that while the series will have 13 weeks of air time, there will actually be 26 episodes in total. Newtype has episode listings for the first 4 episodes (with different titles and staff credits for each), and they make up the first 2 airing slots. Think of it as FMP Fumoffu, where they're going for shorter episodes for more variety.
After reading about this, I think I will try to be more open minded about it, because it could be pretty funny if they don't have to stretch each gag story to a full 20 minutes.

Awesomgasm! So much to do now! Gotta cap it, gif it and pitch the manga scanlation!
The show remind me FLCL (Fooly Cooly) :D

How am I supposed to read the staff listings, anyway?
Director -> Storyboard -> AD?

Director -> Storyboard -> AD?
The guy posting doesn't make it clear at all, especially when only 2 names are given (which means combined credits). It takes some educated guessing, but the order is Script -> Storyboard -> Director -> AD.
For example in the first episode, Imaishi is likely credited for Script/Storyboard/EpisodeDirector, while Nishigori is credited for AD. For episode 2, I would guess it's either Imaishi for Script/Storyboard, and Otsuka for ED, and Sushio for AD, or it's Imaishi for Script, Otsuka for Storyboard/ED, and Sushio for AD.
Are we fast ? (http://www.pixiv.net/tags.php?tag=%E3%83%91%E3%83%B3%E3%83%86%E3%82%A3% 26%E3%82%B9%E3%83%88%E3%83%83%E3%82%AD%E3%83%B3%E3 %82%B0)
Yep, this looks very stylish. I felt like I was watching an animated American comic book while watching the trailer. Can't wait to watch this.

He had her long before Gainax.
Well that was........something.
This will likely depend on the humor on wither it sells me or not.
Friggin A for effort on part of Gainax though, always doing something crazy cool as far as visuals.
(But why is something like this on in the middle of the night, it looks straight nickelodeon, could make HUGE money on goods sales, the designs SCREAM for it)
26 episodes long... except they're 12 minute episodes. The show will be aired as 13 blocks of 24 minutes with 2 episodes each. Staff and summaries for the first four episodes, aka: the first two blocks:
Episode 1: Ruthless Elimination
People are being eaten by a Ghost while in the bathroom. Panty & Stocking have to go into the nasty Daten City sewers to find this Ghost and destroy it.
Director, storyboard, script: Hiroyuki Imaishi
Animation direction: Nishigori Atsushi
Episode 2: Death Race 2010
Panty & Stocking have to fight against a gang of cycling Ghosts in a race of death.
Director, script: Masahiko Ootsuka
Storyboard: Hiroyuki Imaishi
Animation director: Sushio
Episode 3: The Bees' Buzz
Panty & Stocking infiltrate a school to discover the secret of the disappearing students.
Director: Hiroaki Tomita
Storyboard: Atsushi Nishigori
Script: Hiromi Wakabayashi
Animation direction: Hirokazu Kojima
Episode 4: Sex and Daten City
Panty & Stocking are invited by a movie director to star in a movie about their Ghost-killing adventures.
Director, storyboard: Saeko Hiroshi
Script: Hiromi Wakabayashi
Animation direction: Shouko Nakamura
From latest Newtype.
Hardly the first show to do segmented episodes. It'll still run for one cour, but again, the number of episodes a series has is largely unimportant compared to what it does with those episodes.

Hardly the first show to do segmented episodes.
That's another thing particularly reminiscent of American cartoons, come to think of it. The whole double feature thing.
Yeah, this is much more reminiscent to western style cartoons than anime.

If we're talking about the "panty Y", personally I see the problem less as one of bad puns (if there is one, I don't see it either) and more as one of unfortunate imagery... Think elephants... Or maybe the term "banana hammock" comes to mind...
First thing to pop into my head: Cartoon Network's the Powder Puff Girls, but re-imagined and re-tooled by the blissful insanity of the Gainax crew.
Hopefully, Gainax can deliver on the entire package - the art style, at least, is definitely a winner, in my book.
Does anyone remember "THE BIG O"? Because they look like western influenced too.

If the show's as dirty as that first manga chapter, then this is gonna be some fall:twitch:
now for the daily copypasta:
Animation directors for the first 3 episodes of Panty & Stocking:
Episode 1 Part A: Atsushi Nishigori (TTGL character designer, AD for episodes 1, 8, 27 and movies)
Episode 1 Part B: Sushio (One Piece movie 6, TTGL episode 15)
Episode 2 Part A: Hirokazu Kojima (that recent Shoka OVA by production IG)
Episode 2 Part B: Shouko Nakamura (Mushishi, Gurren 10)
Episode 3 Part A: Yuka Shibata (Kimi ni Todoke, Grrl Power)
Episode 3 Part B: Yusuke Yoshigaki (Gurren 20, Paradise Kiss ending)

Because they look like western influenced too.The Big O was co-produced by Cartoon Network who insisted on input for their audience. What has been seen cannot be unseen...Get used to it. You'll be seeing it every week and you will never again be able to get it out of your mind! :p
Stripes I and II are Stocking's two stocking swords.
Back Lace is Panty's favorite gun and presumably pair of panties.
Everyone should name their underwear, don'cha think? :p

I wouldn't be suprised if there would be references to futanaris.
I'm a big Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann fan but I guess I won't be watching this anime. The trailer didn't really impress me and it looks just like a powerpuff girls parody with a Gir rip off.
Sorry Gainax, but this is just too weird.

"Childish style" is definitely a matter of perspective. Don't forget that to a lot of people, ALL anime, from Heroman to Bible Black, is "childish" simply due to it being animated. And that the originators of this particular style, the brains behind PPG, had little to no aversion to slipping things under the radar when it suited them.
Granted, never near this level... ^_^

This "Too Weird" argument just kills me. You mean the same Gainax that made Magical Shopping District Abenobashi? Did people just forget all about that stuff?

I don't want to complain here but TTGL design way different than other Gainax works, remind me western mix japanese character design stereotype.
Of course, P&SWG might weird to you (Including me and other user here) but how the earth someone say P&SWG is childish show anyway? Have anyone blind or what, let see here, what i see some very disturbing:
Pee, toilet explosive, stripping outfit, poop, chuck, sexual, men underwear

Don't forget High School of the Dead, that will show the proof anime is not childish for people never watch anime.

I think someone mentioned it earlier in the thread, but The Powerpuff Girls was first created as "The Whoopass Girls;" Craig McCracken imagined it being aired late at night and college students watching it.
As for this... well I'll definitely check it out because what the hell, it's Gainax and it's unique. Worth a shot in any case.

There's a difference between childish design and childish content. I never meant the content but rather the design of the series.
