I'm not asking when episode 2 will be released, but does anyone know of an english fansub group that has finished subbing it or in currently working on it (I have only seen a spanish fansub release of it)? I can't wait till this episode comes out... the first was greatly animated and all of the action in it was greatly detailed and graphic; not to mention that there was a slight cliffhanger (Vista near death??? and Kenshiro's new opponent showing up at the outskirts of Lastland).

Hopefully we get to see some more action this time. I would also like to hear what others though of the series.

I'm pretty sure the second episode hasn't been released yet, or just was.

I'm pretty sure the second episode hasn't been released yet, or just was.

I KNOW that it was already released, it was out two weeks ago in japan for sale and has been available for rent since late September over there; and, I have already said that there is a spanish fansub of episode 2 that I have found. I was just wondering if there are any english speaking/reading fansubbers have released it yet or is currently working on it.

Anyone have any thoughts of the first episode?

Actually it is really really our 'cause you can find it in TW DVD... I loved the first one and the third is coming soon (end of the month or before XMas). I didn't watch the second one either and pray for a sub :eyebrow:

Well I watched the first ep of Shin Hokuto no Ken (New fist of the north star). And, knowing that you shouldn't judge an anime by the first ep, I still ask: What is it with this? Were they too stupid to come up with a even halfway decent storyline or what? I was a bit disappointed... ok sure the original isn't a masterpiece of storytelling either but still...
What do you think?

Well the first ep wasn't all that great, but Ep2 sure was a lot better. Yes, it seems it has a decent plot. Shin Hokuto no Ken was actually a novel, written by Buronson the writer of the manga.

But I agree with the second post on this thread as far as the new Shin Hokuto no Ken to be pretty good actually even if the story is a bit lacking. Don't get me wrong b/c I love anime flicks that can maintain a balance between storyline and action (i.e. NGE, Perfect Blue, etc.) but there are some anime series and movies that are also pretty good to just check out and the one in question is alright IMO.

Well I probably might have expressed myself the wrong way :)
Not the story itself is bad, but more like how they tell it. I mean it's just like this: Good guys get busted by bad guys, hero comes, kicks everyones ass without getting a scratch, sympathises with good guy and just walks straight into the bad bosses lair and whips his ass. again without getting even scratched...

it just feels so empty.. hm.. hard to describe it correctly. It's just that Kenshiro being the "Über-Asskicker" with the Terminator-like attitude gets a bit boring :-)

But I liked the way they visualized it. Although the fight scenes could be a bit more dynamic.

I have to agree with you, the story telling is very weak. I don't think I can express it any better than you did, it's just boring.

But I am burning it because it is Fist of the North Star and I know quite a few people who will really want to see it for themselves. The first was a classic (in a weird "wow I can't believe their heads are popping!" kind of way that only works once).

probably because you haven't seen the movie. The hero is that good, his total ass whooping of the boss just shows he is way above the level of such a low life. In the movie he fights with one of his brother's who is superstrong like him. I thought eps 1 was ok, eps2 they could have done it in like 30mins, they milked the story too much. At least it should have ended with the hero and the new bad guy fighting

The problem is that Kenshiro is too good. He never even has to break a sweat, except against some of the boss characters. After the (about) 150 episodes of Kenshiro kicking ass in the TV series, it's kind of hard to find bad guys that can challenge him.

Also, the movie isn't very good compared to the TV series and has quite possibly the worst dub ever. The TV series does have a lot of annoying filler episodes, though.

The OVA is OK.

That's just how martial arts flicks (or animes) are.
Have to take it with a grain of salt I guess.

I'm not sure if anyone has asked this yet or if this question is valid to ask here but I di know that at least to my knowledge and according to the license list "Fist of the North Star" (NO! not the old version!!!) is not licensed as of yet and it's out of the animesuki lineup...can someone please tell me what happened to it? why did it disappear? are they still subbing it?

I'm assuming your talking about the New Fist of the North Star (http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=156) (Shin Hokuto no Ken) which was recently licensed by ADV Films that's why it isn't listed on animesuki anymore. Thread closed.

If you notice, the previous post is from last year, nearly four months old.

During that time the series has become licensed, so it isn't listed on AnimeSuki and we request people not to ask for licensed anime. Please read the forum rules (http://forums.animesuki.com/announcement.php?f=10&announcementid=2)...

Do not ask for licensed anime or manga
As described in Fansubbing and Licensing (http://www.animesuki.com/doc.php/licensed/) fansubs are technically illegal as they breach copyright. However as AnimeSuki.com does not wish to be associated with piracy, discussions about unlawfully getting licensed anime or manga or even DVD rips are not allowed. This means it is not allowed to post links to sites with such licensed material or ways to obtain it illegally, or ask for links or instructions to be emailed or PM'ed to you. Threads which break this rule will be either closed or simply deleted.

If you're not sure what 'licensed' implies, then please read about it here, Licensed Anime (http://www.animesuki.com/doc.php/licensed/).

<edit by Mod: Series has been licensed!>

CDJAPAN says there are three DVDs available (which means 3 Episodes) on other hand I read that this mini-series will have 6 episodes. What is true and is there someone who has seen the third episodes ??? I hate this cliffhanger ending.

Iam a big Fist of the North Star fan also. The animation was great, problem is that the story kinda skipped the part where RYU(Raoh's son supposed to be) left alone by Ken after training him. Similar to GAROU? Mark of the Wolves? Terry Bogard and Rock Howard? LOL :heh: But non the least it's a slow pace then the action srquences rock like hell!!! ATATATATAH!!! Every time you see Ken's Hakuretsuken, it's precious!!! XD

Somethin to add btw...why in hell Kenshiro can't break out the thick metal jail railings? Every time he punches and tires to break it, it becomes good as new? Magnetic? Maybe...But he's to stupid break the BRICKWALLS to escape... SHESSH!!! Poor directing I suposed... XD
