A poll was supposed to go here, but for some retarded reason the board won't let it go through if you took more than 10 minutes making the poll. Can we say "horrible design"?

Anyway, if you were Takayuki before the accident, how would you honestly handle the Mitsuki issue? Do best friends come first over some chick you just started dating, or is making your relationship work more important than her selfish demands?

If I was Takayuki....

The hill event~
I purposedly came there to talk because I was concerned, so yeah. Of course, whether I would get carried away and forget the time is another matter.

The street event~
If it was a regular date, In all honesty, I would have been stalled there as well. It was her birthday, after all. I was already running late and in for hell, and it's not as if buying her ring would take more than a minute or so.

If it was a real important date, then I would have told her to talk to me later, though.

Of course, If I HAD knowledge of what was coming it would different.

Unfortuantly it's a hard choice.

For those who have been in relationships...most of the time Love comes before friendship...it's a harsh reality but that's how it works.

HOWEVER, there are exceptions, boundries, If I was takayuki I would of brought Mitsuki with me to Haruka to help celebrate her bday, than Haruka and I would go on our own seprate date later.

With the Hill...if I was SERIOUSLY concerned, I would go, but not stay too long.

Hmm, probably love first. But friends are still very important.

If I was Takayuki...

On the hill:
Yes, I would have listened to her problem and canceled the date. But if I was going to change plans and go to the festival with her, I would have at least gone to tell Haruka first. If only out of common courtesy. (I have to wonder about a guy that thinks it's cool to just let someone wait for hours and he'll "apologize later". Lazy jerk.)

Birthday:
Hell, no. First of all, you have no business demanding a gift right then and there. (Hell, Takayuki could have told Haruka and they could have shopped together. Why make it into a "now or never" situation?) Secondly, I seem to be a master of weasling out of time with my friends, so I'd put her off with a "I'm sorry. How about I take you out to dinner tomorrow to celebrate?" And tell Haruka ahead of time. (Or to be super evil, invite her to join us. :p )

If I was Takayuki I wouldn't have dated haruka in the first place, he obviously didn't love her at start, it was just convenient at the time. I am convinced that if another girl had confessed to him he'd have said yes too.

About Mitsuki, he is her abusing (probably without really realising it) just as well, this guy is a real jerk, doesn't care about other persons feeling just about his own little self. He does feel extremely guilty about the accident btu that doesn't make up for all the rest...

It worx now as it is, Takayuki can have TWO women :D

If you apply it to a larger context, it becomes very difficult to answer. Even if I choose friendship now... I won't be suprised if I chose love in a real situation.

There really is alot of factors that can sway your decisions both ways. You can't neglect your friends just because you have a girlfriend and you can't leave your girlfriend alone and go out and have fun with your friends too. At this point of time understanding and communication between both parties is most important.

And I guess that doesn't include being late for an appointment that's arranged earlier. So likely I won't do what Takayuki did.

"Bros before hos" but we know that a girl can easily come between friends

I think it depends on the situtation. Sometimes a boyfriend/girlfriend can be your best friend as well. If this is the case then I think I would choose the love over friendship...

demo... if its just some guy that you really just go out with and its not really emotionally serious I would choose friendship. I wouldn't lose a best friend for a guy like that.

woah a lil harsh there aren't we? well... mitsuki did make it seem as though she wanted him to get her something by the way she told him it was her birthday. if i was him i would have told her i would make it up to her later and then go meet haruka.

Yup, that's problably what I would have done as well if I/we had known about it beforehand. Though if I had already planned a date without knowing and then was told I problably would have did the same as him... problably assuming that it wouldn't take that long and that it was a relatively important event for her because, well, birthdays only come once a year.

Heh, also if it was a female friend I would problably well... not put it first most of the time but since it was her birthday I would be more likely to make an exception and put it first right then. Heck, if it was just a birthday of a female co-worker of mine I would problably do the same. If it was a good male friend of mine I would problably stop for a couple of minutes as well, though I would be less likely to.

But again, I problably wouldn't hold friendship over love everyday, those are just special cases. Only once, mayby twice. Friendship does have it's times.

Hmm... so if Haruka and Mitsuki are such good friends, why wasn't there any birthday party for Mitsuki? I think girls usually don't forget birthdays, so Haruka should have remembered it...

And since Haruka and Shinji had been dating for some time already, the group not forgetting Shinji should have already been quite close friends. I don't see why Haruka didn't make any suggestions to throw a party or at least have dinner somewhere together.

Unless... Unless... Its not Mitsuki's birthday? :eyebrow:

Hmmm... Possible? :D

Actually I think you are correct. If my memory is correct, that day is not even Mitsuki's birthday. She's just using that as an excuse. And that's part of the reason why she felt so guilty afterwards cause she lied to get Takayuki's attention.

wtf? You are just talking out of your asshole. No where in epi 1 - 7 stated that that day wasn't her birthday.

Please watch your language. I said that based on my memory from playing the game two years ago. And as Tboz said, if it was Mitsuki's birthday, Haruka would know and would throw a birthday party for Mitsuki even she and Takayuki were dating.

It really just depends on the person. I don't like celebrating my birthday, so I never told my friends the date. Also, Haruka doesn't seem to me the type of person to make a party for someone, being the shy girl they portrayed for us.
As you say, it's a possibility that she just lied to get his attention for a bit, but I doubt it.

Should have? Why? I'm a girl, and I can hardly remember the birthdays of my family, say nothing of my friends. This isn't because I don't care about them, only that I have real trouble remembering particular dates.

As for it not being Mitsuki's BD, wouldn't it have come out during the two years they were together? I doubt that Takayuki is going to forget that day any time soon, and because of that, I doubt he'll ever forget Mitsuki's birthday. If she admitted that she lied to him about it...well, I sure that'd throw a major kink into their relationship.

umm Tak's not the brightest star in the sky, so it is entirely possible that he hasn't realized they aren't celebrating it on that day, Mitsuki can use the excuse that its too painful because of the accident to cover for it

Oh yeah... now why did I typed Shinji in the first place. :o

Hmmm... musouka got a point there, if Takayuki wants to, he can easily trace back to the date of the accident. The problem is Mitsuki can continue pretending that that day is her birthday, assuming that she is all evil like what some of you are say. Takayuki will likely never know unless he discover it by chance.

Another possibility is as Whojive said, that day reminds Takayuki of Haruka's accident and its just too painfull for them to any mood for celebration (they could have discussed it?). And Mitsuki just go along with the idea and eventually kept the secret for fear of falling out with Takayuki.

Another possibility is... I think too much. :heh:

The official guide books states that August 27th / The day of Haruka's accident, is indeed her birthday.

As a bonus,

Haruka ~ March 22nd
Mitsuki ~ August 27th
Akane ~ October 20th

Of course, whether or not you accept this is up to you.

Note: The current anime timeline is in August

I think love will come first because love is implusive imo so the feeling of love will usually overcome friendship.
