Kami Nomi Zo Shiru Sekai a.k.a. The World God Only Knows is filled with many references and cameos to different Visual novels and games, which is a given considering the protagonist is obsessed with galge. However it doesn't stop there, as it also makes many allusions to TV shows, films, songs and other Manga and Anime.
The purpose of this thread is to collect, as well as answer any questions about these references and possible discussions about their origins.
All references appearing in the Anime are allowed in this thread, including the ones that were not in the Manga and are Anime exclusive. Manga references are only allowed for either comparison with the ones that were shown in the Anime, or for references that the Anime had clearly skipped (and must be under clearly labeled spoiler tags). Any Manga references from future events that the Anime has yet to cover are forbidden, be them close or far away from being in the Anime.
Have fun :)
OK, besides the trivia listed on ANN (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=11571&page=22):
Episode 1: The most obvious thing, a PSP parody called PFP here.

Also, the school's called Maijima High. It probably doesn't indicate anything but Pinus Thunbergii Maijima itself is a Japanese plant. I'm probably misinterpreting / interpreting too much though.

Could this illustration of Mio be by Carnelian?

Episode 3: Heidi reference is just too good not to mention

I don't know if it is but this pose somehow reminds me of Lelouch from Code Geass

To Heart 2 style by Mitsumi Misato. You see Konomi Yuzuhara on the PFP screen.

How can you miss out the Zaku II head from episode 03? :heh:
& that pose has been done well before Lulu's time, so i wouldn't called it a Code Geass reference.
My bad, I'm not too familiar with Zaku II / Gundam. :P
But I see now what you mean.
edit: Ah, actually the Zaku reference is already listed in the ANN link at the start of my post, hence why I didn't bother looking up what it is or posted it.
edit 2: I counted and we have around 20~ references / parodies so far in 4 episodes.

Those two lines don't connect at all :p, though i guess it doesn't really matter.
Nah, it actually connects if I were to further elaborate my excuse.:heh:
Let's just say I'm very forgetful.:uhoh:
Also, someone in the episode 4 discussion somehow related the ef franchise to it.
I think it was the music?

Tenmon who composed to score for Ef: A Fairy Tale of the Two composed the piece we heard in episode four for the game.

Im nitpicking but....I call this a Monet reference more then Seurat since he actually did make tiny little dots (ie Pointillism) where as the art of Keima looks more Impressionistic style like Monet did, you see definitive brush strokes. Both are considered Impressionism artists but the style looks more Monet, epsc the colors.

The nazism parody is pretty straightforward.
A Zony (Sony) TV in the middle of the episode during Kanon's lovelutionary song.
The PocaCola (Coca Cola) one is obvious, too.
Apparently, Kanon also voiced the blue haired game girl Keima was capturing during Mio's capture meaning she also voiced her? More like an unrelated question but yeah.
Keima's rant in episode 5 is done a bit differently compared to the manga. In the manga, he's just some random dictator at a political rally. In episode 5, he went full Gihren Zabi's infamous Zieg Zeon speach (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gihren_Zabi) mode from Mobile Suit Gundam.

... you see definitive brush strokes...I know this is a totally weird question, but can you make brush strokes with your feet @_@?
The nazism parody is pretty straightforward. In the anime though, it becomes a Gundam parody as pointed out by BigFire. Which I personally found a whole lot more funnier :p
Pacman music in episode 5...
Lesson about girls chasing boys.

I do believe the most obvious references to the Ghost in the Shell movie had been noticed already by a number of people in the episode 7 thread (where an invisible Kanon is mimicking the Major's iconic descend from the film).
Funny enough, I didn't notice that in the manga. This is somewhat similar to the Peanuts laugh as well, where the shout out needed to be in motion to ''work'' so to say.
Funny enough, I didn't notice that in the manga.
It was in a very small panel in the manga, so honestly i can't blame you for not noticing it. :p
Usually a troublemaker like you turns out special in some way!
Cue Haruhi silhouette.

She's Maetel from Galaxy Express 999
From episode 12, the scene where Elsie questions Keima about how he enjoys his youth is a parody of Chiba Tetsuya's Ashita no Joe
