i'm trying to create a naruto trailer (between 20-30 secs) using virtualdub. If I simply cut out the part I want to use I get a file of about 5MB but that's still a bit too big to send around by email. If I recompress the file in xvid format using a bitrate of 300 I get a 1.65 MB file which is not bad, and quality is still acceptable. What other settings can I play around with to get a smaller file, or the same filesize and better quality? use a different bitrate, encoding mode? what about the advanced options? perhaps use a different codec altogether? add filters? change the framerate? change the colour depth? or maybe use a different program, for example nandub? can nandub recompress the sound at the same time?

note : i created this topic in the old forum so i've retyped it from memory. thanks to those who already answered before.

No idea what section in the forum will be able to help you...But my guess is, you can PM Animaniac by going to Playback Help section of the forum or post your thread there although its not a playback problem, rather a creativity:)..

well yeah there is no real forum dedicated to this but a few weeks ago when all those new groups were fansubbing naruto there seemed to be a few people in the naruto forum who knew a thing or two about encoding...can't remember who it was though...
