But I never expected from Fate universe to be animated after the movie, but anyways great news.

We don' have the mother our little snow girl animated too ? *___*
Murasaki : I think the movie was good or well received no ?
So it's just a good thing. But for Heaven Feel animated ... Not sure if it's "possible" ... Because the story of Sakura is really violent.
Oh mai. Looking forward to this. Ufotable! <33

Haven't read the Fate/Zero novel, but anything involving Type-Moon + ufotable must be great.
Then they should do the last route of the novel too.( I mean Heaven's Feel)
But I never expected from Fate universe to be animated after the movie, but anyways great news.I secretly hope that if they ever animate Heaven's Feel, it would be a 20+ series (or a collection of long OVA's) but I sort of expected that we were going to get something for F/N considering all the new announcements for Type-Moon animated projects.
I'm looking forward to seeing Zero Lancer in action, myself.

Agreed, especially looking back on how the last Type-Moon TV projects turned out. :uhoh:
Hopefully the production rivals that KNK and UBW movies if it is the case.
Looking forward to seeing Zero! Berseker in either case.
I'd be fine with a TV series, i mean this is Ufotable we're talking about, not Studio DEEN. They can get the job done.
Can't wait to find out who'll score it. I already have a few names that would be perfect, though i'm prepared to be surprised.

Maybe with this renewed interest the Fate/Zero translation will be finished...
Personally I can't wait to see Kariya, Kotomine, and Rider.

Director : Ei Aoki (あおき えい)
Character designer : Tomonori Sudou (須藤友徳), Atsushi Ikariya (碇谷敦)
So basically Kara no Kyoukai staff (even if I didn't find any info for Atsushi Ikariya).
I'd bet for a movie series, out of faith. I didn't like the UBW much because of how rushed everything was, so I want to expect a F/Z project at the level of Rakkyo.
Personally, I am more interested in having a good adaption than in an incredible technical level. Slightly above average is fine to me if they don't screw up with the settings or the ideas presented by the original products.
I can't wait to see Saber in action, as always. Kariya's predicament is always interesting and Assassins are nice to see too (but for some reason I don't think they'll have much importance here).

Am I the only one who's really hoping Kajiura will get to score a T-M x ufotable project again? It felt so good to see one of her scores properly used, unlike most of her works for Beetrain TV series. I'll never forget how truly amazing that battle scene in the sixth episode was, with Azaka running over the chairs and how well the music fit. Now I'm spoiled for life, regarding Kajiura.
That said, though, the staff's already shown us what they can do, so I'm just excited for another good bit of T-M x ufotable collab. Not exactly the biggest Fate fan, it's definitely the T-M work which I like the least, but since Zero seems to feature an almost completely new set of characters, maybe I'll enjoy it more!
In other news though, funny how this has completely overshadowed the Girls'Work announcement.

Well, I wouldn't say nothing. The scenario by Meteor, Original Character Designs by Takenashi Eri and there's even a picture of it now:

Although I guess it wouldn't ever compare to F/Z simply because the novels are out there already! So yeah, your point stands. :)
That's exactly what I mean! GW has been "announced" several times already, but we got nothing about it. Even Nasu was very secretive about it in an interview for T-M Ace. We have a character design now, and news regarding who will work on it, but since we still don't even know what it is about, the hype has died a bit, at least inside me.
Not like I'm not interested in it, anyway.

I still can't believe this actually happened. Fate/Zero was, for me, one of the best work from Fate universe, mostly due to Urobuchi Gen's superiority in writing than Typemoon Mushroom. (But Butch Gen is fuckin sadist.) Another good thing is, this is getting manga too <3 <3 <3

Same for me. When was it first announced?... A year ago?... We didn't even know whether it will be VN or anime.
According to the interview from Takeuchi (producer of this project), 'Girl's Work' is an anime original project by Typemoon x ufotable and it won't have any VN release, like Angel Beats did with Key x P.A. Works.

Whoa, this is exciting news. I remember hearing about the novels? before and wanting to read them. I ceased looking for them when I couldn't find anything in english, I haven't bothered to look since and I sort of forgot... Seeing this not only reminded me, but also has me quite excited. I admit I never read the novels; I managed to find the English translation, but for some reason or another I could never get into the story. I'm delighted to see that it'll be animated; I've read some spoilers about what happened in the novels, and it'll be interesting to see how those moments look in animation, with voices and colors.

According to Type Moon Ace vol.6, Urobuchi Gen said that the duration of the Fate/zero anime is long enough to accommodate the whole chapters of the original novel. They have even added new scenes.

I as well, an OVA that is very true to the original plot and strays very little. No rushing, or butchering of the story. I felt Fate was okay, but UBW movie was simply... sub par. Though I liked the music and action sequences~

Seriously though, I was talking about this with a few people a while ago, I wouldn't be very surprised if Kajiura makes a return to this new ufotable x T-M project. If Urobuchi has anything to say over it (which I don't know, but maybe the staff's interested in the guy's opinion), and seeing recent interviews where he personally asked for Kajiura to work on Madoka, I really think it's a valid possibility.
Then again, if they do decide to go with a more orchestrated score, I'd personally like to see Naoki Sato given a chance here. His work for Sword of the Stranger was amazing, and Sato's overall track record is just as good.
(Oh goodness, how I love speculating over music before composers get announced. Just imagining some stuff makes me happy, hahaha.)

Hm, this is pretty cryptic. It doesn't necessarily means it's a TV anime though, he could just mean the project itself provides enough time to adapt all of that. The way it's worded makes it sound as if it were a TV anime it would be longer than the standard 24-26 episodes. Still, I hope for a movie series adaptation so we can have the maximum animation and art quality possible for the project.

If this is anywhere near to the quality of Kara no Kyoukai, it'll be great.

Not really, as it's a prequel. You will be spoiled on content from the game's third route, which has never been adapted, however.

I am thinking that as well. Not to mention the novels aren't complete translated.
The big question is what format will they decide to do... I'd prefer a TV series so I wouldn't have to wait but they might have to censor and cut out a lot, not to mention the animation quality from having a lower budget versus an OVA or movie.

That's not necessarily true, see Tales of Symphonia OVA for example. Which is actually from ufotable as well. While you might argue that it's separated as two different 'series', the first one came out in 2007 and the last one from Tethe'alla chapter will only come out in 2011. Well, and there's already yet another ToS OVA sequel announced to finish up the story, iirc, so at best we'll get the full story by the end of 2011.

He mentioned a series of films, not just one film (like UBW). If you ask me, Kara no Kyoukai did a very nice job at adapting the novels, and the fan response to it is so positive that I doubt you'd find a lot of people disagreeing with this statement.
Besides, being OVAs won't guarantee longer running time in the end. Tales of Symphonia OVAs had all around 30 minutes per episode, with some getting to 40. Rakkyo had several movies which ran for more than an hour, while the shortest ones were around 40 minutes.
All that isn't particularly important, anyway, because what really will make the cut in the end is how good the staff is. And I think these guys - in particular Aoki Ei - have already proven themselves as worthy of the fans' trust. Not to mention that Urobuchi Gen himself said that the length of the project will allow them to adapt everything from the original novels and still add some original scenes.

This is completely valid as far as your opinion go, after all, we are all entitled to our own. I'm sure Nasu's way of writing and his stories aren't the sort of thing just anyone can enjoy, and the fact Rakkyo made an effort to follow the original structure of the books makes this even 'worse' for people like you. Still, I must assure you that if you disliked Kara no Kyoukai's story, it definitely wasn't the animation staff who was at fault. As an adaptation, it's a very well done one, and the people working on it deserve nothing but praise for being able to convey the books so well.
That said, I'm not sure how relevant to the actual conversation that post is, but all it tells me is 'I dislike Nasu's way of writing and his stories'. Which while fine, is hardly adding anything of relevance to the topic of Fate/Zero.

For voice actors:
Saber & Kirei are being played by the same VA's as usual
I think all of these look pretty good. Irisviel being played by Sayaka Ohara... She has an adorable voice.
I've never heard the guy who is to play Kariya but he was in the sound drama. So something must be working there.

The first two films were close together in release, though that's not happening anymore. It's the standard long wait you'd expect for the rest of the films.

Is it safe to assume that they're sticking with Kiritsugu's seiyuu from FSN and UBW? It's just going to be plain awesome if he uses the same voice he used for Souda Emonzaemon from Katanagatari when he's in business mode.

They're keeping the same seiyuu that were in the Drama CD, so yeah, it'll be Koyama again.

Kara no Kyoukai had a poorly structured mess of a story. One of the most over-rated anime in recent history.
Well if you feel that way here's some good news, Fate/Zero was written by another writer, Gen Urobuchi.
It's good they keep the VA. Ayako has been inactive from anime nowadays I thought she quit.

She was Alice in Pandora Hearts and A-tan in Hayate, both of which weren't too long ago. She was also Saikyo in Ladies vs Butlers, Leina in Queen's Blade, and Miyuri in Seikon no Qwaser. Seems she's also in Index II, though I'm not sure how important her character is. Plus there was the Unlimited Blade Works movie earlier this year.
So really, she's done quite a bit of work in the last two years. She's just not in every series that comes out.

In Index, she played Archbishop Laura Stuart. This might give you a clue on how important her character is.

If this is anywhere near to the quality of Kara no Kyoukai, it'll be great.
Do I have to read or watch Fate/Stay Night to understand and appreciate this? I know Deen's F/SN adaptation was underwhelming, and I way too little patience with the VN medium to read much.
just my opinion but i think you should eithe rplay the game or watch the anime first. Reason is because the feel for FSN and Fzero are very different. FSN gives you the classic underdog (at least for the Saber route) but Fzero is very different as all the character pretty much at full power and in their prime.
Knowing ufotable, they'll likely cut out much of the actual explanation so not having watched the anime or played the game will make things hard to understand.
Though if you enjoyed Kara no Kyoukai without knowing anything about Type Moon (like me) then it probably won't matter.

I think we all can agree that you don't need any prior knowledge of F/sn to enjoy this, however the knowledge will let you appreciate it so much more.

I also expected/preferred movies/OVAs, but TV can work, since there wasn't any explicit ero in the novels (to my very limited knowledge). Also 2-cours makes more sense; as for the requirement of prior knowledge from F/SN, it helps to increase enjoyment, but that's why these script-writers and composition guys work ... so it won't be a requirement ... despite many times miserably failing :p
A bit disappointed it's a TV series, but it's still Ufotable, so I'm fairly confident this will be good.
I honestly don't mind either way. I'm all up for an anime aswell. I have enough trust in ufotable to know they won't let that screw up the story.

i dont think so. because of number of volume and how heavy is the action on the novel.
even with 13/14 ep anime they can add some of original material without being rushed
24 ep anime will be simply way to long

I have only seen the anime adaptations but considering what other people says it would seem to be some kind of connection between Zero and Heaven (something :heh: ) that makes a good opportunity to let Heaven follow directly after Zero.

No, but it's an important part of it, and without it you don't get the whole story. Plus, Zero was written with the assumption that you'd already have played HF (and, thus, that you already know Sakura's past), and therefore doesn't explain what is going on in as much detail as it would need to if you didn't already know. Not to mention that seeing Zero would instantly spoiler essentially every single plot twist in the whole of HF....
But the "point" of the game is Shirou, not the Grail War.

...You're taking that casual comment too seriously and placing excessively negative connotations on it. In the FSN flashbacks, Shirou himself described Kiritsugu as something akin to a "tired old beast just waiting to die", so I think it's safe to assume he'd become weak and ineffective, hence "wimpy".
Though yes, it definitely wasn't unnatural for him to get hurt after what happened. As Kotomine would say his worries were most natural for a human being.

i don't think we watched the same show. the epilogie's music has been trite, the animation on par with average anime movies (see Break Blade). the voice acting is not even the best the VAs had to offer. Especially disappointed with Maaya's performance.
Anyway, I wanted Bones/Bee Train to be doing this (KnK and Fate/Zero) , but it just wasn't meant to be.

Would you mind elaborating on this? What exactly did you dislike about Rakkyo? The animation? The music? The actual adaptation?
I find it hard to believe anyone would try to say Rakkyo is an example of poor animation because quite a lot of sakuga fans consider it to be one of the best things from the last couple of years and one example of really good sakuga anime. The music, well, this will evidently boil down to preference in one way or another, so I'm not going to dwelve into this any further. As for the adaptation? Having read the books and watched it, I don't see how exactly you could've hoped for a better adaptation of the original material.
Now, I've said this once in this thread and I think I'll repeat it, I think it's completely fine if you dislike Rakkyo for what it is. Just don't pin the blame to ufotable, who did a fantastic job producing a very faithful adaptation of what is a good story.
That said...

I'm not even sure why I waste my time replying to your posts anymore, since your intent is clearly "trolling". Quite seriously, each and every one of them has been some sort of derrogative comment towards a show which most people like.

Ummm...
Well... it is still undeniably true that there were some significant adaptation decay from the original novel, though. It's not Deens level of extreme faggotry, but there still was some decay in story flow and characterisation.

also, what applejuice said. Thinking about it, not that the source material was spectacular at all.
Too bad majority here just ride on the Bee Train hate bandwagon just because it's the cool thing to do. They are capable of good animation and music, I think they could have done a better job with some of their later titles, but .hack and Phantom are all excellent shows.
And i'll find all this Bee Train bashing even more funny when Hyouge Mono becomes the best show its airing season.
And Maaya Sakamoto is better off singing. I would have preferred Ami Koshimizu as Shiki, but blame ufotrain on the casting.
So...can you elaborate on your points then?

the voice acting? the final part was cheesy. in general, there's not just much life in MAaya's acting.
the animation? dry. Windy Tales (though not by bones) and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood's animation flows more freely. Art? Now that is a matter of taste. KnK's art was just not my thing
What else?
the actual adaptation? tsukihime has better flow in general and that is Nasu's best work yet.

Beetrain hasn't done good animation since...Medarot? I don't think I remember any Beetrain show which had good animation in the first place, aside from that one (and Popolocrois), and that's because all sorts of famous gengaman worked on it, such as Imaishi and Toshiyuki Inoue. As for everything else (and recent stuff in particular), at most you could say it doesn't look bad, but that's clearly because Beetrain shows in general have been high on the still shots and pans. It's almost like a signature of every new show produced by that studio, even more so if it's directed by Mashimo.
That said, I have nothing against the studio itself, and discussing animation based solely on the studio's name is generally a bad idea. Mostly everyone dislikes DEEN, but Dragon Crisis! is one of the best animated shows from this season, and that's because it has a very competent sakukan on it called Masashi Ishihama, who also worked on Read or Die and Tokikake, for instance. In the end, unless we're talking about Kyoto Animation, who's always using in-house staff for their shows, animation as a whole will be majorly dependant on which gengaman are working on the show.
>he's in disagreement with the majority, he must be a troll!
excellent logic there, people.
I wouldn't mind one bit if you were in disagreement with other people as long as your posts, in general, had any sort of content to them. I think it's fine to voice your (negative) opinion on something, as long as you can back up your claims with any sort of argument. I'm sorry, but going into threads and saying "this sucks, this is bad and this is poor" isn't adding anything noteworthy to the conversation, and even if your original intent wasn't trolling, that's what people are going to believe it is. Plus, if you really want to be taken seriously by most members, maybe writing things in a way which won't seem rude to others is a good start.
And Maaya Sakamoto is better off singing. I would have preferred Ami Koshimizu as Shiki, but blame ufotrain on the casting.
Funny, I myself always preferred Maya as a seiyuu than a singer. I never really clicked with her singing voice, and usually don't feel anything towards her songs. The exception would be Hemisphere, I guess. Oh well, to each his own!
the animation? dry. Windy Tales (though not by bones) and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood's animation flows more freely. Art? Now that is a matter of taste. KnK's art was just not my thing
I'm a tremendous fan of Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, but calling Kara no Kyoukai's animation 'dry' is just trying to find something bad where it doesn't exist. I've said it once and I'll say it again, but Kara no Kyoukai is highly regarded by japanese sakuga fans and is considered a great example of how to make a good sakuga anime. I'm not saying FMA:B is bad, far from it, since it was the most impressive thing from 2010 by a long shot in this regard. Still, Rakkyo is full of really good animation, with some of the coolest action scenes out there. One example of it is the Shiki vs Zombies fight in the 5th movie, which, aside from looking awesome and having tons of really well animated movements, has another fun factor to it: all of it consisted of keyframes only, no in-between animation was added to it because of how good it looked. The guy who did it started working on it from storyboard stage and most likely produced that minute or so worth of animation by himself. The rest of the staff was probably worrying that adding douga might ruin the flow of the whole thing, so in the end they just left it untouched. :heh:
Oh well, this will be my last post here regarding this matter, because despite being related to ufotable as a whole - who is the studio in charge of F/Z -, it's still not related to the actual show. If you, antigone, want to discuss this any further, feel free to PM me or leave a message on my profile.

I'm no expert. I can't comment on voice acting nor animation (personally I didn't have problem), and as for the art the only anime I've seen that compares to it is 5 Centimeters Per Second. But do you seriously believe that Tsukihime was a better adaptation there is a Tsukihime anime?

what i meant was that Tsukihime was a better source material than Kara no Kyoukai.
the tsukihime anime itself was horribad
Can't say since I've only read Mirai Fuukin so I can't comment on whether Tsukihime is better or not, literary-wise. Story-wise, I personally likerf Kara no Kyoukai more, since I find Ryougi Shiki far more interesting than Tohno Shiki. For Tohno he seems to just have this infinitely powerful split personaility and it just seems so convenient to me. On the other hand Ryougi Shiki's split personality is an actual problem that's given a whole chapter of development. There are other things that I like more but I think that's one of the major reasons.

Only some of the servants are still present (Saber, Gilgamesh). The main character I believe is Shirou's father.
And yeah, no Shirou in this one (But hey, Shirou may be dense at times, but he certainly has his GAR moments, specifically in the VN, the anime by DEEN was FAIL though).
Also, the tone of fate/zero will be significantly more dark.

Even in the anime, we wasn't a wuss. A wuss wouldn't get cleaved by a giant rock sword to save a girl, he'd run away to the dead end.

He's actually not that powerful of a magus. He's just smart enough to use a gun.
They actually say in the novel that in comparison to his wife, Kiritsugu is practically nothing in terms of ability. All he has is a really fortunate Magic Crest and a really rape-tastic Mystic Code.

Angel Beats was announced extremely early, but successfully hyped the entire series to the maximum during that period. It's all busy-ness.

It's pretty damn faithful.
I don't see why it's far-fetched to think it won't air for a while. Just look at a few things that air next season (Spring Season).
Hidan no Aria - April 19, 2010
Steins;Gate - July 25th, 2010
That's 9-12 months prior to air for both of them. The series with less popularity would have shorter times between announcement and airing, but with all the hype this is getting? And with Unlimited Blade Works hype still stirring things a bit? Include the supposed animation, number of episodes, and story-accurate quality we're going to be getting, and I don't think it'd be too much to think it'll take 12+ months after announcement before airing.
Winter's usually not the season you launch a big project, and neither is Summer. That leaves Spring and Fall, and Fall just feels too early for what's being hyped.
