But Triple! Geordi, Troi, Crusher! Granted they weren't very focused on in the series proper. So actually this analogy is close imo. (Oh wait, Troi crashed the ship, does that count?)
Compare this to Star Trek VI, where Sulu, the helmsman doesn't get to do much in series, gets to command his own starship.

The Clannad OVAs were all about alternate romantic routes. Of course they lacked a lot of characters. The whole point of each one is to focus on a specific romance.

I know, and they just felt so much weaker than the series itself.

Very weird and self-defeating given how True Tears' ends. I don't see anything comparable to this in the Nanoha movies though.

Nothing, I just wanted an Aiko fan to come in.
Aiko should really get to know Yuno.

Well, let's consider the A scenario. It would be the most appropriate but then the side characters like Saori and Manami helped prop the series up, and they have a lot of fans for justified reasons. I think it would leave a lot out. B and C would definitely lead to a lot of complaining on both fronts, from many fans I feel, even though I would dance @ C.

... Which is the Disappearance movie. And I loved that, lol.

That's a good example, I guess. But Haruhi herself made a strong showing in it too I felt and wasn't shafted at all.

This is different how?

I must be crazy.
Well, take out the future angle I guess.

It would suck to lose a good theatrical villain. I'd probably knock a mark or two off of my Disappearance rating.

I think this is more relevant. It's possible to go around her, but it only causes harm.
LOL. I suppose many would agree too, but I think the other arcs were useful in building up the whole story and relating it back to her. I honestly think I would complain like this thread here, but then again I'm just biased.

I'd feel a bit sorry for her fans, I guess. Wouldn't effect me a whole lot.

Yea, this is an interesting one. I should have gone for the overemphasis route.

I'd probably feel more comfortable going to the movie with friends now.

Fair enough

I might not even watch it.
Makoto I could live without, but I'd feel sorry for her fans. I'd miss Shiori.
AKA your dream Kanon film. And yes, it would rock.

Okay, the questions were rigged. But an Ayu only film would lack a lot of luster, and a Mai only film would fundamentally change the nature of the series. It would be much cooler, but it would definitely cause a bit of friction.

I could live with it. Death Note is Kira vs. L to me.

Yea, but those Matsuda fans would not be so happy!

What? This isn't the plan for the third Madoka Magica movie?
In fact, I almost wrote this counter to Fate critics earlier on in this thread - If you think Fate's degree of focus in this movie is a bit much, wait until you see what Homura gets in the third Madoka Magica film.
|
Lol, this is why I brought this up last. It doesn't help that Mami has the same VA as Yuno >.> I have yet to watch it though.
Although it would be humorous to think of Homura in the context of all this.
Anyhow, the point of my post was just that sometimes it can be well done, but other times a certain portion of the fanbase can get their feathers ruffled. Now, I put in several extreme scenarios to pander to myself , and it's nice that you agree with me on some
, but as you can note, sometimes unintended effects will make a few people kinda annoyed if done repeatedly.
I'm quite sure someone around here could rewrite some of these to not mesh well and leave us out, I feel. But then again, I pretty much have no problems with most reasonable ships in Nanoha, so I am safe here. In some of the examples... not so much
