Yup, there are so many flora & fauna stamps here if you like it . There's also a "folklore & fairy tales" series of stamps which kinda like a comic (sans the word balloons).

The guy depicted in the very old stamps (first link) is Sukarno, the first president of Indonesia. He had brains & guts. He's a great guy. On the other hand, the guy depicted in the more recent stamps is Suharto, the 2nd president. He ruled the country for about 32 years, obliterating anyone on his way silently. Scary guy, but our country kinda reached the peak of prosperity during his rule, so yeah.

Personally, I like the page with green stamps showing wildlife and plants (refreshing to look at). Also liked the flower stamps - I would have collected a lot of those if I were in your country. Is the man who's depicted many times in the stamps the president of Indonesia?

Finally able to grab one of my albums. It's my "local stamps" album . Unfortunately, I can't take pics of all the stamps inside it as my batteries are dead too . Still, I think these are enough :

Thanks. It actually took sometime to gather them up, and some I got by trades - at that time I wasn't the only stamp collector in the neighborhood. A little late in replying.. because I just got back from helping my cousin sell some doujin at a convention today. Anyway, I'd like to see some of your collection too if pics become available.

WOW, Impressive indeed! You have stamps from a whole lot of countries!

I was considering taking a picture of mine, but they are so far deep inside hidden beyond a pile of other things in my cupboard. I'm too lazy to get them out XD. Well, maybe later ^_^.

Mine's not as much as you think though ^_^. I only have three albums before I totally quit it. And yeah, I'll be looking forward for your photos.

Sorry for late reply. I was busy certain things (cd burning, and picking up a package from Japan at customs). You seem to have quite a varied the collection. A picture speaks a thousand words, so I'll be taking pictures with Digicam from my poor old stamp album - if time permits I can show you the pics tomorrow.

Ah, I was the same as you. I got those very old stamps when me and my family was cleaning up the house and found a box of my grandpa's old documents which filled with letters. I didn't know that it would become my treasure chest ^_^. Also, the stamps I got aren't just local stamps. Since my grandpa had many friends from Netherlands, there's a lot of old stamps from there too. Would you believe that ^_^? Damn, I was lucky, and I still keep them until now.

Hi. Continue the talk about stamps a little more?

It's impressive that you have one that dates back to the 1950's. I got some really old ones too.. at the height of my "fandom" in collecting stamps, we went as far as dig up old love letters that my mom receive in her younger years - the stamps I acquired from that "dig" are probably from the 1960's or 70's.

Well, the rise of text messaging led to the decline of personal mail coming to our house. I decided it's time to give the collecting a rest. Following our discussion at the thread a few days ago, I searched for the old brown album where the stamps are kept - after some effort I found it still intact and in good condition. ",)
