    *huggles flower*

I'm sort of back though probably won't be as frequent. I'll be sure to poke you now and then as I need to catch up to hordes and hordes of anime from the past couple of season.

No worries, no worries, and nothing to apologize for - I knew you were busy and such. After all, occurrences such as happened to you DO tend to keep one ... erm ... occupied for a bit. And RL trumps all else, eh?

I have been well, actually. Went to visit some friends in LA and get (free) dental work done at the same time. Will be flying back home tomorrow evening.

It will be veerrryyyy nice to see you lurking about these parts again. You have been missed by many of us ... XD

Sorry about my absence. Just been a tad busy with life. I should be a bit more regular now that Log Horizon has started to air, for if nothing else, then at least to discuss the show once a week.

    How have you been?

Mekaku City Actor is on my "Curious to try" list. After going thru a fair number of upcoming series I came up with the a list here:

And yeah, I enjoyed Ghost Hound and also agree it was a little dragged out for my tastes. But still liked it.

I guess at least for the moment the series I am most curious about that I know very little about would be Escha and Logy no Atelier....

So much mecha next season though - that genre rarely does much for me. Well, we will see. ^^

I totally agree on the very important role sound plays at creating the atmosphere in any narrative. Have you seen Ghost Hound? The entire premise of that plot is based on the sensory overloading of sound. The amazing effect created by sound was so good that it even overwhelmed the storytelling at times. Visually and story-wise the show was average, but because the sound played such an intricate role to tell that story that it became above average from the presentation stand point. The only fault I found was that the story didn't really need 22 episodes to unravel itself.

That said, animated movement is still my first priority and then other things come into play. As long as a story has a top notch animation, I can easily overlook most of the glaring faults. For example, I've yet to like any of Makoto Shinkai's story, but whenever he is releasing any new work, I'm giddy like a school girl on caffine.

I've seen a couple of episodes of Inari Kanokon. It's a cute show. I will finish the series eventually. I can't say the same about Mikakunin despite the overwhelming appeal of an adorable loli who wears oversize school uniform to attend high school.

Mushishi 2 is the one that I am looking forward to the most. I think I've mentioned to you how big of a fan I am of that show. I'm also a fan of Shaft so I would probably check out their Spring series Mekaku City Actor. I will also check out Madhouse and Bones production. I just hope there will be a few good ones upcoming in the Spring season to make up for the Winter season disappointment.

I also so your thread on Log Horizon's getting a second season, so I'm happy.

    Hello there! ^^

Does seem like it has been a while - but no worries. Even I can see that the story for Barristers is kinda silly, but I am enjoying it even so. I was just playfully giving you a hard time is all. ^^

Interesting about you valuing good animation above all, though. I value it, but I guess the thing I value above all is the "immersive effect effictiveness"... if that makes sense? Animation can contribute to it, but sound is equally powerful for me, and when you get a super effective combo of the two (Kyoani excels at that) then the chances of me following the series increase a lot. But still, if the story and narrative are immersive I will have a fairly easy time looking over visual or audial elements. Another big plus if I like the characters.

All this is in general and are contextualized by my druthers and what not, but its a good rule of thumb, I think.

So sad Inari Konkon ended but glad that it stayed so true to itself. It was an adorable little series that charmed me on almost every level and honestly one of my two fave new series of the season - the other (Mikakunin) still has two eps to go. Only other A rank series for me atm is the carryover Asakura, which is like Inari in the sense that it just plain works for me on so many levels. Whereas Inari's charas were more endearing Asakura's narrative is more immersive (no pun intended) of the two. But Mikakunin beats both in chara love and story immersion for me. ^^

That being said, I am hyped for a few series next season - three pretty surefire series are Mushishi 2, Isshukan Friends and Gochuumon usagi desu ka. There are a few others I will give a try that look either promising or that I am plain puzzled and curious about, though.

    And you?

The story in that show makes me want to slap my forehead. It had probably the best animation production for the first 3-4 episodes so I stuck to it considering I value good animation over everything. Now that even animation is suffering as evident from the last two episodes, the story is just not cutting it. I mean seriously, they are just making crap up and ad-libbing as they go along. There is just no flow to it. Anything and everything is open game as far as this story goes. I'm expecting aliens at this rate and touch of satan in the mix of it.

Hi Flower! I feel like we didn't speak for a bit....
