Heh, interesting. Although I envisioned Rose doing the same thing. Her sensor net detects enemy position and spell locations (for multiple bullets coming in at multiple angles, or if a mage puts a spell elsewhere). Her whips tend to react to it instantaneously. Thus, her perfect defense. Except her net was temporarily scrambled by the dust smokescreen, and after she cleared it, Nanoha's SLB was too much for her to handle.

The protagonist of the story I'm writing will eventually use a support system designed around agility and attack avoidance, with the trade-off being heavily relying on the judgment of an Intelligent Device (as the Device has the control the dodging) and a severe impact to spellcasting, as the Device will be calculating attack angles and statistics to do the best dodge. Rose's use of Area Search inspired me to have the system utilize the same system, only to calculate incoming attacks and such, rather than spotting the enemy ahead of time.
