I had a very strong one: Kiyoku Yawaku (one of the last Kodansha Manga Award award winners of the past few years not adapted by NoitaminA) and then noticed that while 10 volumes are out in France there's only 3 chapters scanlated in english.I just died a little inside.
I'll get back to you later
Man if GC doesn't even have visuals anymore then it must be in a sad state.
You could always look towards manga to fill your slice of life/drama needs,I've read of few that havn't gotten anime adaptations and I doubt will because they wouldn"t sell. That's the nice thing about mangas, they're a lot cheaper to make so they don't have to sell as much and that leads to a greater variaty of choices.
Probably, and my interest in anime has been waning over the years irrespective of the fact how good/bad the industry has been. At a point where I find it difficult to watch mediocre shows, has to be "legit good" or "so bad its good" with the latter usually amounting to a guilty pleasure (e.g. Aquarion EVOL) . Then again I have no idea why I'm still watching Guilty Crown because that show is just pure bad atm without any hooks other than the audio (visuals have been lacking as of late).
Exception or not, given the "subtle slice of life/drama" didn't sell very well in addition Okada pretty much "doing what she wants" at this point, I doubt we'll see another one of those "subtle slice of life/dramas" in the near future
Now hit the back button a bit and we get series like True Tears and Wandering Son. And tada, here we get great genuine, subtle dramas which was the reason I became a Okada fan.
It's something I tried getting at in the Okada club but there's a 3 year gap between those two.In between she did stuff like Vampire Knight,Black Butler,Canaan or Zakuro.
With Okada "Subtle slice of life/Drama" as to me always been the exception, not the rule.
I have GC stalled at episode 12 and it's been that way for a while,I refuse to officialy drop it because I'm a director Araki fanboy but really Aquarion EVOL has become what I wanted GC to be.So I guess I might move on and hope Araki does better next time.
