Have you ever seen a series not by her and wonder "Dude, this series could easily use her!"

One of the most blatant examples is Kaiji. It's effectively the super-GAR version of Anohana. The entire series is about guys crying and looking terrible; I'd bet she'd have her way with it.

The other possibility is Guilty Crown. Tons of perverted potential never exploited and... Yuki Kaji!

Finally, there's Angel Beats. Okada's take on a Key story is very suited for her style, and everyone was thinking of it during Anohana. Because Okada actually writes scripts that make sense, there's no doubt it would have been better than anything a tired Maeda could have done. Besides, she's pretty much is PA works.

Wait... So you think there are too few series written by Okada already??

It's like a trainwreck. Terrible but I cannot look away and even want to see more. :S

And it still is my belief that Okada purposefully crashes the train she's riding because she enjoys it.

I mean just look at evol,is one very well choregraphed demolition derby

As for shows she should have done,I'm tempted to say Rinne no Lagrange but really "I can't believe Okada's not the person that wrote this" describes it better,I'm not sure she could have done anything that different,it's already very okada-ish without her.

IMO, Okada would have made GC/Angel Beats better.

Making GC/AB better than it already is, is a walk in the park. Definitely don't need Okada for that, though she would make it comical (coin flip if it is legit funny or so bad its good funny). But yeh... those two shows are disgraces already I don't see how making it better would be considered a feat.

Natsuiro Kiseki, the melodrama over smaller things reminds me of HSI sooo much. and it's got lulz moments with the rock and wishes to fix any plotholes she made, she'd be great for writing it.

I concur. Lolz. If the plot fails - use da rock!

Actually I would say the rock is Mari Okada herself. Does what it wants when it wants. Decides when to grant wishes and when to reverse them.

Indeed,the rock is a powefull troll,people have given up understanding it,it just does what it pleases.
BTW the main writer of Natsuiro Kiseki worked under Okada in Hanasaku Iroha so Okada might have tought him in her ways

Hhmmm... Okada on Guilty Crown.

Pros: Inori likely becomes more interesting, and Hare likely gets more screen-time.


Cons: Shu is put into drag at least once during the show.


Probably worth it overall, but I'm not too sure.

Okada writing Guilty Crown:

High chance Inori becomes more interesting.
Moderate chance that Ayase becomes a crippled version of Minko (i.e. an annoying cripple)
Very High chance that Hare will be shipping trolled only for Inori x Shu to be the canon pairing
Very High chance that Shu will be put it drag at least once.

Emasculation is not a problem for Shu, as he was already pathetic in Guilty Crown proper.

Girls and Boys switching bodies with each other. Seriously. Perv and bad comedy potential is huge.

Maybe Little Busters.

Aside from the crying you'll get out of a Key story, you also have a male being humiliated in most episodes, bad perv, and Riki looks effeminate enough for well... that. Plus Okada's good at writing really annoying characters too. Why did JC send her to write Pet?

Now that you mention it, Little Busters really is similar to some Okada anime. I guess that's why I dislike it so much. If they had gotten her to write it, it would have probably been more entertaining though.

Key wanted a writer that was gonna give them super special treatement,the writer of little busters is scripting every episode of a two cour show herself,that's unheard of in this day and age,no way was okada gonna do that,she's always on a gazillion projects at once.

fun random sakurasou trivia: Jukki Hanada and Fumihiko Shimo are on the writing staff working under Okada,combined between them they've done the series composition for Clannad,Kanon,Harushi movie ,Air,Chunibyou and Nichijou (as well as being on the writing staff of Harushi series,full metal panic and k-on)

So two writers that have worked on plenty of Kyoani shows are working on sakurasou instead of little busters
