You know though, it might actually make the whole Takano's past even more creepy if the orphanage keepers are still men.

On that note, is Kasai bendable? A badass female yakuza weapons specialist?

And what of Reno's parents? Rena's mother cheated on her father, so she stuck with her father instead. Then, her father was seduced by a younger woman. Depending on whether his parents and the con artists are bent, the story could play out differently. If the genders are intact, we have a teenage boy killing a young woman as his first act of murder. If not, he still kills a woman, but only as a necessity because of an earlier killing. The woman in this case would be Sato's aunt. So if we genderbend Rena's parents, we should genderbend Sato's aunt and uncle.

Given the fact that the matriarchal Sonozaki family(unbent, I mean) is implied to be behind the yakuza group in the area, I don't see why we'd have any problems bending Kasai.

Okay, here's a VERY important question! ... Wait for it ... Do we actually have pictures of Higurashi no Seitenkan yet? ^^ 'Cause those might be interesting. Hum. Genderbent Higurashi characters ...

Rando doesn't sound like a good name, anyway... besides, it has to be a FF reference. I think.

Where did this "Rena Ryuugu is a reference to Lenna Charlotte Tycoon" thing come from? Was it explicitly stated anywhere in an interview or statement or article or something?

... I'm saying it right now. There is no way the recent pics of Sato and bent Rika are male. Especially the latter.

As for the Lenna thing... I honestly don't know. Still, Reno is probably the least awkward-sounding name suggested...

Well he is a TRAP.

Basic problem is they left them with rather large eyes compared to the males in that series.

The basic problem is that the artist essentially drew a girl in male clothes and said "this is a boy."

... ah, screw it... we can keep the Rika name and claim he's our Bridget

Satoko ----> Satoru

I think "Reno" doesn't look good for Rena's genderbent bersion. "Ren" would be better, wouldn't it ?
Next, for Mion & Shion, we'd have simply to remove the "n" for have Mio and Shio, i think.
For Satoko and Satoshi, just swap their names for have :
Satoko => Satoshi
Satoshi => Satoko
Riku would be good for Rika, but for Hanyuu, I don't have any idea for his name =/... Hanyuun ? xD

If you merely swap Satoshi and Satoko's names, things would get confusing.

A picture of Satoshi as a girl would probably look like a picture of Satoko when she's older... and having the name 'Satoko' wouldn't help to make things less confusing in that case.
