In 2002, I was introduced to Macross II: Lovers Again by its English dub broadcast on Starz. (Note: This is not canon.)
In late 2002, the broadcast for the subbed version of DYRL was airing on Starz but I only caught glimpses of it.
I thus avoided anything Macross related due to MII being so ridiculous to me.
In 2010, a friend (who certain people certainly remember me mentioning in the main forum back in '10) introduced me to Frontier.
Two weeks later, I watched Itsuwari no Utahime.
Soon after, I boiled down and watched the entirety of SDF, followed by DYRL.
Then I watched Zero (which was proclaimed a prequel to SDF).
In 2011, I watched Plus, both versions, just to tell the difference.
A month later, I grit my teeth and finished M7 that I had started in '10. (Note: Only the mecha is canon.)
Finally, in 2011, I watched the official release of Sayonara no Tsubasa (not in theaters).
