Girls und Panzer discussions!
What I find really unique about this whole discussion is Sumeragi's blithe ignoring of my posting points from the soldiers I know, who've deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. Right, ojousama, ignore the guys who've actually gone and done this shit for real. When was the last time the JGSDF and ROKA fought in combat? *rolls eyes*
As for point and counterpoint, I
, afterall. First one to Emotion and Bluster loses.
I did read, and as I said, while I've seen claims some people are rude, and some aren't, I can't really tell the difference. I mean, WG called Sumeragi's stance "childish", and he's a good guy. I try to keep it impersonal (I certainly don't remember casting aspersions on your character. Sumeragi's I'm less sure about. Depends on interpretation.), but I'm a bad one. So maybe I'm autistic, but no, I really can't see what the big deal is.
First one to Emotion and Bluster loses.
You blinked!! YOU BLINKED!! NYAH!!
Ahem... On a more serious note...
When was the last time the JGSDF and ROKA fought in combat?
I quite frankly cannot comprehend this obsession of hers, but I don't really have the right to judge someone's perspective anyway. Nonetheless, to give the JGSDF some credit, they are currently deployed in both Iraq and Afghanistan in peacekeeping missions. Though the Japanese media keeps a very low profile of the extent of their involvements, which is understandable.
An irony in the current Iraq peacekeeping missions though, is the inclusion of Mongolian forces in the region...
@Anh_Minh -- My analogy is .. you finally get a bunch of kids to sleep. And then you walked in, talking in yelling about something excitedly. How's that?
Ha, I didn't realize Wild Goose was a lawyer. One of my best friends is one and I rib on him incessantly. Most of them, even senior ones, are less articulate than you might imagine..
That said, re: GuP -- it's internet (anime) tanks people .. if they can sit outside of their hatch while giant shells are flying by, I'm not sure what our standard for acceptable vs. dangerous situations are
Try to see it from my point of view.
All I see are people trying to paint themselves as victims, and people circle jerking about their righteousness. Both for reasons I find incomprehensible. In itself, that's not exactly unusual. I see it all the time in televised political debates.
And it all happens in an anime discussion thread that's no more heated than a lot of other such threads. (For example, if compared with a Psycho Pass thread these days, it's about average?)
So, yeah. I'm surely missing something, but I don't see who the kids are, or at what point they fell asleep.
Ok? So you're saying you're oblivious to the fact that from an objective 3rd party perspective (even people here were eating popcorn and commenting) people thought the GuP thread was "heating up" ? It had gotten personal? People were being dismissive and no longer discussing thoughts and ideas but arguing? I'm honestly a bit surprised.
If you were or continue to not notice it of course you don't see anything wrong. I can see that .. But, don't take my word for it, look at what others looking on were saying .. ?
On a side note, I'm in the midst of doing P90X, and today was Yoga day .. ~! Exercise however takes away time from Starcraft 2
I should note, gents, that while I studied law, and finished my first year, I also dropped out. (It's a long story, filled with regrets.) It's been almost 6 years since I last cracked open my law books.
^ Don't regret it too too much, if you're in the U.S. the unemployment rate for law school grads is absolutely abysmal. Your life is also awful even if you somehow were part of the 40-50% that did end up with a law job.
I'm in malaysia. I work in customer service. And my company fights the Rebellion's supporter. XD
I've found it hard to read that thread these past couple of days.
I maintain that it was all Random Wanderer's fault for firing off that sociopath remark, which immediately put Sumeragi on the defensive and led to a near-complete breakdown in the ability to converse rationally, something that I made a valiant attempt at.
, I don't need to throw tantrums or sling insults to be right. Or to argue my case.
RW called Shiho that, which is fair game if his (our) interpretation that she faults Miho for saving her team mates' lives instead of desperately trying to hang on to the trophy.
You, OTOH, called Sumeragi's stance, and I quote, "childish". So, yeah, I don't see why you're so proud of yourself. (Though your actual arguments were well taken.)
Besides, her tack of "look at me, I'm so badass, and that's why I can understand Shiho's stance and you bigoted weaklings can't" is the one she took the first time around. Since she moved away from it to "submerged tanks aren't dangerous at all", I'd say she's being more rational than the last time we discussed it. But maybe I'm remembering wrong.
willx: I saw it heating up. But there are plenty of heated discussions, and of people commenting about how heated things become, so I don't find it exceptionable. And I especially don't see a reason to divide between nice, polite posters and rude, bad ones. If there's anything to feel guilty about, then all of us who participated in the discussion are guilty. I could certainly take offense at some of the stuff you've said, just as easily as you've taken offense at my stuff.
Hmmm. Fair point, although I don't really consider the use of the term childish to be insulting, since that's how I saw her position and attitude to be.
As for being rational... the part of me that is a hyperbolic fanfiction author on a steady diet of american TV, channelling Richard Castle, would say that the difference is between 3rd degree and 1st degree burns. You still hurt.
Still, I think dacis2 has pretty much shut down the thread. There's nothing more that really can be said.
Sure there is. "*plugs ears* NananananaIcan'thearyou". (I didn't say I
Just be grateful I didn't follow the suggestions of my acquaintances on SB, which were to tell her that a group of tankers and armored infantrymen had collectively looked at her statements, and their response was "Fuck that shit."
Looks like the thread is heating up. Not sure if I want to post there right now, afraid to get burned...
Naw, it's not so bad, I think anyone reasonable based on the material produced by the shows creators have to come to the conclusion (albeit a bit sad) that KMM was built up .. and then used as a floormat ..
Okay, nevermind, it's gotten out of hand again..
So... on the topic of liability insurance...
UTE/Endless K disagrees with you. Apparently you can blow up anything you want .. but those rounds are apparently ineffective against buildings?
