Concealed the Conclusion
Well, since no one else was using the "new thread discussion" feature...
We all know about the wonderful main series of Touhou games, but has anyone else here tried playing Concealed the Conclusion? It's pretty much a complete Touhou game that plays very similarly to Imperishable Night, except it's an unofficial work made using Danmakufu. I recently just got it working on my computer, and I'm really enjoying it. Nearly every major character from games 5-9 (including Shinki and Mima!) show up as bosses at some point, thanks to a full 4 different scenarios to choose from, with 3 stages being completely different depending on the scenario. CtC also has original spellcards for everyone, of course, many of which are quite creative, yet still in-character for the most part (Yuyuko and Yukari combined spellcard? Sweet!).
I only have three gripes with the game: There's the Hakurei system, which is similar to the Time system from Imperishable Night, except it is far harsher on you if you fail to gather enough, making the final boss essentially unwinnable at times. Secondly, each boss's Last Spell is way harder to unlock; to get them to use it, you have to essentially have a perfect run of the entire stage, which is just not happening in any mode beyond Normal for someone of my skill level. Third, the storyline is really sad and tragic for a Touhou game, but thankfully it isn't canon at all.
The game also boasts the return of the popular spellcard practice option last seen in Imperishable Night, complete with cool new Last Words for everyone. Here are a few of my favorites:
Yuka shows how Master Spark is really done:
Suika wants to play "Simon Says":
The Yakumo family together:
Youmu tries her hand at DDR:
Reimu is just plain HAX:
Sadly, there are very few videos of Concealed the Conclusion on youtube; besides the collection of Last Words, the only ones I can find are for the Extra Stage, Phantasm Stage, and maybe 2 or 3 other random stages at varying difficulties. There are so many more stages in the game, thanks to the whole Scenario system, plus the final boss fight is just plain epic, as it's more like a nostalgia trip down Touhou history.
I'm still exploring what the game has to offer, such as trying to unlock every shot type for each scenario (which I'm still not too sure how to do). I also would like to find out how to unlock all those Last Words, as it seems no one knows how that works. Perhaps someone here could help me out?
I've heard of CTC, and I'd like to give it a try, considering that it's done entirely on Danmakufu. I know nothing of it since I never had the chance to try it, though the soundtrack collection is sweet.
I've played it :P And for me (which has a skill level next to zero), even Easy is quite hard, mainly because many of the spellcards are either too easy, or too hard, because they're not very different from the later difficulties.
and there's those spellcards that are easier in normal than easy, namely one of yukari's spellcards.
Anyway, I haven't been able to clear it yet. By the end of the fifth stage I'm out of lives (and therefore Hakurei), because of the sudden difficulty jump, and Youmu doing a number on me.
MarisaC is the most fun to play with. You literally SPAM the whole screen with Christmas trees.
Since youtube seems to lack videos of most of the CtC stages, I'm trying to upload a few of my own. I want to include the last spells, but unfortunately, those only seem to be used against you if you captured the entire stage perfectly without bombs or deaths. Sadly, I can only seem to accomplish this on normal mode...I need more practice.
I have Aya's stage and Yuka's stage loaded so far.
I never played that game, but it seems to be fun.
Is that series of touhou is a fan made game?
Yeah, it's an unofficial fanmade Touhou game modeled after the main series. It's more like a homage to the series, what with the high number of returning characters and the whole nostalgia final stage.
Edit: Loaded Remilia's stage and Tewi's stage.
Also, what are the exact requirements for a boss to use a last spell on you? I thought it was having to capture the entire stage, but I'm starting to think I'm wrong.
well my guess is you also needed the enough hakurei to unlock it.
Well I've played it, and it's quite fun. Well IMO it's a lot easier than the real touhou
From what I see, for a boss to unleash a last spell on you :
- You need enough Hakurei point
- The gauge displayed near Marisa sprite must be full by the time you defeat the boss (in other word, the Hakurei point counter must be displayed in green)
Simply put, you need to stay alive.
(This makes mid-boss' last word spell card quite hard to capture)
