This is a schizophrenic list of whatever occurs to me (or anyone else) that might help things out. Feel free to comment and discuss!
Keep Up!- Our group progresses pretty darn fast, and if you can't be on for a couple of days, then your character(s) may be left behind. Don't fret, just shove yourself back into the story, I certaintly don't care how you shoehorn yourself in. More people is always better.
Pay Attention, and Provide Your Own- Read other peoples' posts very carefully, so that you react to them correctly. This helps keep corrections and edits to a minimum, and makes the stories easier to read. Also, provide your own details. If you can, don't just say, "Leo kills some deputy," some people many react differently to who or how you kill. Saying, "Leo fires his pistol into the deputy's forehead, splattering his brains across the wall behind him," is much more entertaining, and provides more details for people to react to.
Is This Even Physically Possible?- This is fiction of course, so NPC's can't shoot for crap and main characters can be shot multiple times and miraculously survive, stuff like that. However, sometimes you just have to go with the flow, if there are several dozen people and three tanks shooting at you, odds are something is probably going to hit something important. Recognize when your character would end up injured, dead, scared, etc.
Don't Get Attached- Roleplaying is much more fun when you are able to kill other people, but this only works if you're willing to die, too. If your character is in the above situation with all those guys trying to murder you, consider that he'd probably die. This provides realism and gives the other characters a reason to fight. If you do decide that your character dies, kill him off in one of your posts describing the results of others' actions. Feel free to introduce new characters into the story, but for ease of reference, go back into the Character thread and mark him/her as "Deceased" or something like that so that people know he or she is gone.
Lulz- Unlike some other, more pretentious roleplaying I've seen, we're pretty much okay with "text talk", using parentheses to indicate out-of-character talking, discussion, or comments. If you want to point out something that sounds funny to you or ask a question, go ahead.
What is That?- If you are introducing something new or that does not have a real world equivalent, describe it in detail so that people know what the heck you're talking about. Using Leo as an example again, "Leo has his Rapae," is not a good way to mention the Rapae for the first time. Instead something like, "Leo has his Rapae, a complicated early-style semi-automatic pistol that uses a mass of springs and counterweights to move the slide with each shot fired. This weapon is years ahead of non-Arbeites technology," provides plenty of info and visualization.
No Asshattery Allowed- This is pretty much covered by the rules, but don't do dick things like instant-kill people or throw them under a proverbial bus. Insulting other peoples' characters with your character is fine, since it helps breed animosity and conflict, but no flaming or flame-baiting.
